Even Colors Can Be Depressing
Rainbow Dash was swooping through the air, with Scootaloo perched on her back, having the time of her life finally flying, sort of. After a segment of flying, being about fifteen to twenty minutes each, Rainbow would find a cloud for her to take a break from the having been putting so much weight on her back for a longer period of time. There was another light conversation between the two pegasi who treated each other like sisters, as Rainbow Dash perched the two on a cloud. "Whew Scoot, you seem to get heavier every round." Rainbow said laughing."Well you know you don't have to do this right." Said Scootaloo as her smile dropped." No it's fine, good exercise for me." Rainbow replied,"Well, ready for another round?" Rainbow asked passionetley."I would but I have a crusaders meeting so I need you to fly me back down to Ponyville." Scootaloo said apologeticlly."No problem." Said Rainbow,"We really need to head home anyway we are pretty far in and above the Everfree Forest and it'll take twenty minutes to get home." Said Rainbow as she flung around to look for a way home. But flipping around that fast was on such a small cloud was a terrible mistake, because upon doing so, her backside collided with Scootaloo's head. Which not only knocked her out, but knocked her off the cloud."SCOOTALOO!" Rainbow yelled upon realizing what she had done. She flew as fast as she could tward the unconcious Scootaloo.
Just as Rainbow was about to reach Scootaloo............she was too late, Scootaloo hit the ground with a thud, landing on her back. When Rainbow managed to get to the ground, she could only stare at Scoots, not even daring to turn her over to check the damage."What have I done...?"
Rainbow had decided to keep the tragedy a secret from the Sweetiebelle and Applebloom, as well as her friends for now, only telling the funeral home the whole story of what happened, they immediantley agreed to do a private funeral that would only be open to whom Rainbow Dash herself said could be there. The funeral was set to be on Saturday, which was in three days, so that didn't leave much time for Rainbow much time to break the news to her friends and the CMC, that was left anyway.
At dawn on the first day, she walked out like a normal morning of making the days weather. But throughout the morning, all she could think about was her,sorta, sister, Scootaloo, which since she was techniclly her only legal guardian, she was obligated to own any possecions she owned. She just didn't know what to think about it. After finishing her daily routine of playing with the weather, she had gone into Ponyville looking for peace and quiet but got exactly the oppisite from her friends."Hey Rainbow how's it hangin?"Asked Pinkie Pie. Rainbow only shrugging at the slightest."Um, is everything ok?" Asked Fluttershy, as she grabbed a cup off the counter that contained freshly iced tea Pinkie had made before her friends had arrived at her home locally known as Sugar Cube Corner."Yeah, we thought you would be more happy since you spent all of yesterday with Scootaloo!" Said Pinkie Pie enthusiasticlly."Yes speaking of which, where is she? Sweetiebelle has been looking for her,"Asked Rarity. Rainbow had finally lost it. She bust into complete tears as her face become stained with them. She then ran out of the building as she took flight straight into the newly found rain. "What it something we said?" Pinkie called out."Yeah, she would never do something like that."Twilight added, when Fluttershy let out a gasp that sounded like Pinkie would have been the one to make it."Um girls, I think I know what happened, I will...catch up later."Fluttershy said flying out after her.
Fluttershy eventully stumbled upon a weeping Rainbow laying on a cloud above Ponyville."Rainbow, what happened exactly while you and Scootaloo were out yesterday?"Asked Fluttershy conceringly."I....don't wanna talk about it." Dash replied weakly."Tell me." Fluttershy said firmly. When Rainbow looked at Fluttershy's worried and stern face, she knew she had no choice but to tell her everything.

"And..... that's pretty.....much it.."Said Rainbow who just finished telling her story, she had cried through most of, but Fluttershy was surprisingly not broken down beside her, but was instead giving of a stern, understanding look, without so much as a hint of sadness."Rainbow?" Said Fluttershy breaking what seemed to be a forever lasting silence,"Y..y..yes..?"Rainbow replied attempting to wipe away tears that only came back seconds later."Why would you not tell anypony, and IF anypony, why not me?"Fluttershy said, and had only just then began to feel sadness."I.....was scared, I have to soon anyway.","Why?"Fluttershy asked confused,"Because her funeral is Saturday, and I only have three, well two days to tell everypony."Rainbow said, her voice cracking multiple times."Oh I see, well...."Fluttershy trailed off, having so many questions but also afraid of overwhelming Rainbows emotions with one she hated."The funeral..."Rainbow started, thinking she was ready to tell Flutters the information she was going to need,"It's at the Ponyville cemetery, so be at my house early Saturday morning if you .....want to attend because I made the funeral private, so only ponies that I say come in can.....get in.....but I want somepony to walk me there....","Ok no problem Rainbow, but I have a question.","What?"Rainbow wanted to say more but her vocals hurt to much from crying."I know you don't want to, but I think you need to go to Sugar Cube Corner and tell our worried friends this, they are SO upset and confused about why you did that,and besides, you'll have to tell them at some point, so better early than late." Fluttershy said as she began to levitate of the cloud of which they were sitting."Okay........"Said Rainbow as she began fluttering close behind Fluttershy.
When the two got to Sugar Cube Corner, Fluttershy was the one to open the door, and as she walking in she gave a glare that something, REALLY bad, had happened."Okay Rainbow come in here."Fluttershy said as Rainbow walked in, tears stained to her face and looked as if she hadn't slept for weeks."My word darling, what happened!?"Rarity said in surprise, having never seen her rainbow friend upset that emotionally."Fluttershy will.........explain.."Rainbow trailed off as she stood behind Fluttershy. Twilight tried not to giggle, because that was pretty much would Fluttershy would to do , but she managed to keep a frown."Rainbow."Said Fluttershy pushing her tward the goup."I am not going to tell them one word of this story, you are going to tell them what happened from the VERY BEGINING."
Rainbow sat down at the table and slowly gained enough strength to speak again."Well, I guess I should get to the b-b-basic point first..?"Rainbow asked Fluttershy, hoping she would say no to start at the early point of the tragedy, but she only nodded."Rainbow gulped, her heart beating more than ever, but she finally gave in,"Scootaloo is...............dead.."Rainbow said bursting into tears,"WHAT!!!!!", the other four yelled in usision."Girls! Don't over react, she has it hard enough as it is. Now sit down and let her tell how it happened!"Fluttershy lectured and the others immediantly sat upon the command, knowing Fluttershy was right.
"If all that happened...? Then? How did she...well, you know?"Twilight asked trying not to say -dead-. "Well...."Rainbow started but was still crying."We were on a small cloud, and when I jerked around, I think I knocked her out or something because-"Rainbow stopped wailing in tears once again."Because, what darling?"Rarity asked pretty much in tears herself."Because as she was falling....SHE DIDN'T CALL FOR ME ONCE!!!!!", Rainbow screamed and fell on the floor in tears."And from what she told me, when she got to the ground, she was just laying there, not moving, or breathing as it looked."Added Fluttershy as she pulled Rainbow into a tight hug. Everypony else was now in so much empathy for Rainbow Dash, that they had all began thinking how they would react if they lost somepony that close to them."Dashie, we are definatly here for you to help plan, things, and get through this tough time, we all Pinkie Promise!" Pinkie said solemly as tears countined down her pink cheeks."And as Pinkie said, well help with the funeral fundins so ya'll won't have to."Applejack said sweetly."T-thanks guys.."Rainbow said, as she got out of her friends grasp and began flying home, completley without a notice or goodbye.
