I sit in Rainbow Dash's living room, humming a song that's name i can't remember. Something like Equestrian Pie or whatever. I all know is that today Dashie and I are going to go the amusement park, Fun-Land. If Dash could just finish getting ready.
"Alright, Bolt," I can hear Dashie's slightly raspy voice from behind her sofa. "You ready to go, or do you want to take your sweet time getting ready, like i did?"
"Lemme go to the bathroom real quick," I say as i walk to the bathroom that Dash was just in. "I'll make sure i take as long as i can milk it for."
"Heh, come on, be quick, like me," Dash chuckled. "Or do you need help getting on to the potty?"
She just joked about when my legs were broken. "No, Mama Dash, I can go piss by myself. Unless you want to help me, Madam Weird Fetish," Dash started laughing like she got a dose to much of laughing gas. That mare was a piece of work. "I'll be quick. Be back," I put on the sunglasses that where tied to my neck. "In a Dash!"
That made Rainbow Dash roll on the floor in laughter. She was one of the easiest ponies to make laugh when it came to my jokes. I gave a smile and stepped into the bathroom and did my business and washed my forehooves. I stepped out into the living room where my mare friend was still laughing on the floor and tearing up.
"Come on," I pull Dash up onto her hooves. She's lot lighter than i thought, the average weight for a mare her age was 110 pounds, she barely felt like she was eighty, then again, I do pump iron alto. "Let's get going, we don't have all day, and the tickets expire Sunday."
We head out the front door of the giant cloud castle and fly off in the air towards Fun-Land. After what feels like five hours of flying, I finally spot the park. Dash lands first and I follow in close second. I inhale the sweet scent of the amusement park's many fast food services. I pull the weekend passes. I give one to Dash and put the bar code of the other one on the scanner. A quiet click indicates the spin-gate is unlocked and I can push trough it. I do and Dashie soon fallows up behind. We make a brisk walk to a small tower with a large LED (light emitting diode) map on either side and a key for the symbols, and there's small, clear plastic boxes with miniature maps folded neatly inside of it. I grab one of the maps and put it in the strap keeping my MP3 player attached to my leg.
"Let's seeee..." I say quietly. "Hey, Dashie, what'cha wanna do first?"
Dash's face turned a slight shade of pink that was just barely noticeable, but my eyes of an eagle could pick it up and the way Dash was trying not make it visible. "Let's do a thrill ride first, The Attack Demon!"
We high tailed to the ride and got in line for the three minute wait. The ride ended and we where aloud to enter the ride. I strapped myself in next to Dash and waited for a couple seconds until the ride started. At first it was slow going but it got fast i seconds. It was a spinning ride and it was making me feel sick to my stomach. Eventually, i got used to it and it felt rather nice for the wind created by the motion to blow through my fur. I felt glade that this week the park wouldn't close at all. Not until Sunday night at midnight. Me and Dash wouldn't leave until Saturday night. It was nine thirty on Friday. That's two days. Two wonderful days where i had the chance to tell Rainbow Dash how i felt about her, about my crush on her.
No! It's not a crush! I tell myself. Just a small one, even if i have a crush on her, but it's just that she's my best friend, it's how it's supposed to feel!
Before i knew it the ride was over and i was getting off the ride and feeling dizzy, There was something on my mind, though, "Hey, Dash, wanna get something to eat?"
No verbal response, rather, a stomach growl at the mention of food. This prompts a giggle from Dash, "Yeah, let's get food."
We head straight for restaurant by some bengal tigers. The name of the place was The Tiger-porium. Something about watching the tigers and being with my cru- best friend! She's just your friend! You DO NOT have a crush on her! made the food seem all the better.
Out of character, Dash pointed something out, "Hey, that sweater, i like it."
I didn't notice the sweaters the shop part of the place sold because i was focused on my hay burger and fries. For some odd reason Dashie like that sweater. Upon closer inspection, it was for female pegasi and was yellow with tiger stripes. I don't know why Rainbow Dash like it, but i don't question it. Dashie grabs the sweater and pays for it and comes back and pulls it over her head and feeds her wings through the designated holes. After feeding her forehooves through the holes for them, she looked quite cute.
Cute, a word i never thought i would use to describe Dashie.
"Hey, Dashinator," I began. "Never once thought you would wear a tiger sweater."
Dash's face went a little red as she said she just kind of like the way bengal tiger stripes looked. It seemed like it, she always did look at tigers, that is when she did get a chance to see one. We threw our trash away and headed out into the park. It was fall and now, being around eleven in the morning, it was sixty-five degrees. We walked along the path, looking at everything interesting we saw. We stopped when we saw the entrance to a roller coaster.
"You want to ride it, Dash?" I asked. "I mean, this ride looks like it's interesting, Spider's Den. Sounds like a horror ride, my favorite kind."
"Yeah," Dash said, it seemed hesitant. "We can ride it."
Dash was really unsure about it, I tried to tell her that if she didn't want to, she didn't have to, but she got on anyways. Slowly, the ride went along the track and fake decorations of zombies and stuff, but it wasn't scary. Dash seemed to think otherwise, she had her face hidden in her hood had her forehooves wrapped around my leg. She was scared of Nightmare Night decorations. That is the cutest thing ever, beating Fluttershy sliding.
Once the ride was over, Dash jumped out of the cart and walked away quickly. I decide to ask her about it.
"Hey, Dash, are you scared of that horror ride? Nothing to be ashamed of, but really? Are you scared of the Spider's Den ride?"
"Not the decorations, the ride itself," Dash said. "I rode one of those rides when i was a filly and one of the props fell on me and broke my nose and right foreleg in thee places."
"Makes sense," I said as I went to go step down the first stair in a small flight of them. I didn't put all of my hoof down on the step, instead, i put the tip of it on the step and pushed forward and fell down the stairs. Three ponies ran to my aid and asked if i was alright. Other than a minor nose bleed and a cut on my chin, i was fine.
My chin cut, upon further inspection, though, showed it was rather deep. Dash and the ponies who helped me took me to the closet park clinic and got me checked out. I needed stitches. Twelve, to be exact.
Dash seemed pretty upset about that, she teared up a bit. She held my hoof until the nurse was done sewing my wound shut. It didn't really hurt but Dash thought it hurt a lot. She kept squeezing my hoof every time the nurse went to put another stitch in. But for me, all i felt when the stitch was put in was a slit poke and a small tug.
Finally, after five minutes of careful stitching, my large gash was closed.
"Be careful now, and here, take the tissues for your bloody nose," the nurse said calmly as she gave me a box of tissues. "Have a nice day!"
Soon enough, we stepped out into the cool afternoon of a fall day.
The crisp afternoon sun is in a position so the sun's in my eyes. I squint the shut and look away and walk, while carefully, briskly down the three steps of Fun-Land's clinic. Dash seemed extremely upset when i was getting them, it was out of character to say the least. Maybe she has some sort of crush on me. Probably not.
We walk around the park for a few minutes, stop at a concession sand to get drinks, and sit down on a nearby bench.
"Hey, Dash," I say between sips of my cold soda. "You seemed so concerned when i was getting those stitches, it wasn't like you."
"What do you mean?" Dash asks, going strieght onto the defensive. "That I'm not aloud to care for my rescinds and wish for their well-being? Is that some sort of sin?"
"No," I respond coolly. "There's nothing wrong about it, but you know the brain is located in the top of the head, not the chin, and it wasn't really that bad of a cut. It barely needed stitches. You held my hoof the entire time the nurse was swing, we all knew i was going to be perfectly fin, except a black line for a little while."
"Yeah... well," Dash fumbled around with her words for a minute. "Your my best friend, and when my best friend gets hurt now, i go completely weak, after Gilda's death three years ago. I mean, is that wrong, that i'm still being extremely weak when somepony that like is hurt?"
"No!" I say loudly. "Just, don't show you're freaking out when a pony you know is hurt, rather, just keep a straight face and stay calm, chances are, with both the aid of technology and magic, they'll come out of it alive. But I'm going to be blunt, nopony will live for eternity, not even Celestia or Luna. Eventually, something will cause a pony to die. Even if it's in a trillion, octodecillion, however many years it takes, everypony will die. No matter what."
That somewhat made RD calm down, but barely. I suggest we go on a calming ride, and Dash seems content on this decision, even though it's not her type of ride. We look over the map and notice a gondola ride that goes over the entirety of Fun-Land and takes around eleven to twelve minutes, depending on the weather and other circumstances. We walk over to it and board of one of the small gondolas.
"Hmm," I say quietly. "First gondola I've seen with velvet seats, and allows drinks. Nice."
"Yeah," Rainbow Dash said as she sat down across from me. "Seats are rather comfortable, I like them."
The ride starts and RD and I look out the windows, being completely silent. Come on, Bolt! Do it! A voice that is my thoughts yells at me. Just! Tell! Dash! How! You! Feel! I'm muster up the courage to tell dash about my crush on her and I'm about to begin when the ride ends. Shit.
We walk out on the other side of the park towards the more extreme roller coasters. The Termite's Tunnel is the first ride we go on and it's got seven loops, three corkscrews and Celestia knows haw many other things.
We rode several other coasters whose names i didn't read. After the seventh roller coaster, I felt like I was going to puke. And I did. Dash asked if I was alright, and after puke all that i ate today, i felt fine, although hungry.
"Yeah," I say, out of breathly. "Just hungry, and thirsty."
We ate and got some drinks. After our not-quite-so dinner, I felt just fine, if not, then great. Dash decided to lay of the roller coasters for a bit. We decided to ride the ferris wheel instead. I forced dash to use the bathroom before going on so she didn't piss herself. She's done a few times. I went to and whilst I was peeing, this guy with a red coat, orange mane, and half an apple as a cutie mark walked in. He seemed rather content in making small talk, even though we both decided not to to avoid getting things awkward.
I exited the bathroom and didn't see Dash, so i plugged in my ear-buds and listened to music while i waited. Eventually Dash came out and we went on the ferris wheel.
When our cart was at the top there was a CLUNK! We we're stuck. I made sure both Dash and I where calm. It was three hours before i decided to make any move indicating that I had a crush on Dash.
"Hey Dash," I began. "I need to get some shit off my chest."
"What do you mean?" Dash asked. "What do you want to admit?"
"It's just, we've been best friends for years now. Over time I've began to like like you," I say quietly.
"Huh?" RD is baffled. "What do you mean like like?"
Instead of a verbal response, I use actions. While words can move ponies, actions do it a hundred percent of the time, even if not much. Instead of telling Dash I have a crush on her, I show it. I kiss Dash.
After about two seconds of lip-to-lip contact, Dash pushed me away, with teary eyes, bright pink face, and a slack jaw. She's stunned.
"Oh. My..." Dash's voice trails off. "Well... umm... listen, Steel, I need to say something," Dash's face is now redder than a tomato. "IHAVEACRUSHONYOUTOO!"
Now I'm the one left with a red face and slack jaw.
I pull dash as close as I can and drape my wing over her. She rests her head on my shoulder and looks at my watch.
"Wow," she says quietly between a couple yawns. "Eleven thirty. Getting late." She then dozes off for a little while.
After another hour or so, the ride begins to move again and I shake Dash awake, barely being awake myself. We climb off the ride and sit down on a bench and just randomly burst out laughing. Neither of us know why, but we just laugh. And laugh. And laugh.
Ohh... Tomorrow's going to be a good day.
