The Day Pinkie Became the Tron
Prologue - Disappointment
“ECH!” - Jontron
What are days? What are months? What are years? What is...time itself?
Are they just illusions created by two Goddess of the sun and the moon, Celestia and Luna?
Then what are the intentions of creating one? For Order...or to control?
If so...why 24 hours? Is there something special hidden within the numbers, or was it calculated to suit ponies, to make them work, to make them rest, to shackle them to their fate?
Then what about me? Standing, looking over the sunrise through this window, wondering about all of this, is my mind...free? Free to think about all of this...to not worry as much as the others, or am i more shackled then everypony else?
These thoughts lingers in my mind, never fading, haunting me, for the rest of my days. I want to change it...one day...yes...some day, i’ll be free, and on that day...i sha-
“There you are Gummy.” A loud rather squeaky voice, one of the many unique traits of a certain pink party pony rang throughout the room as the mare lifts her toothless pet baby alligator from the window sill that is overlooking a beautiful sunrise that Princess Celestia is currently raising.
“Ohhh...you must be looking at the beeeeutiful sunrise. Ah, such an amazing sight don’t you think Gummy?” The pink pony talks to her pet Alligator, to only be given the usual silent dead eyes response, that somehow manages to be translated by the mare. Although some still wonders if she really gets what her pet alligator thinks, or just imagining things...like she often does.
The mare quickly put down her pet alligator to the floor, and leave him be for the time being, she trots over to a rather unique dressing table, and by unique, of course riddled with various make ups, hair dressing equipments, also some cotton candy and of course a rather large mirror in placed in the center back of the table, touching the walls, and decorated with many things the pink pony loves, such as sweets, balloons, happy looking stickers, and pictures of herself and her friends.
Although today, she’s not going to use any sort of beauty ornaments other then some moisturizing cream today, because she has to hurry...or at least want to hurry, the event she’s attending has been rattling her excitement for at least 3 years, and today...it’s finally here. Of course she couldn’t wait, she is literally shaking in excitement in getting this particular item.
After finishing everything she needs to do, she trots over to her pet Alligator, and says her goodbye, “ Bye bye gummy, i placed your breakfast on your bowl as usual, i’ll be back in a jiffy.” The mare says as she gallops as quickly as she can towards the front door and the outside world, to a place...called Ponyville.
As she steps outside her home she breathes in the smell of the place...that classic rural town smell, a little bit of a mix of everything nice and bad, mostly nice though, like the smell of fresh fruits and vegetable, the cakes of sugarcube corner, the flowers blooming outside her door, even the dirt smells quite nice today for her.
The sounds also feels so...brilliant, and well coordinated, as if making it’s music. The clopping of hooves, the rough mix with a little bit of squeak of the wagons walking by, the ponies chatting and doing business. It just felt so good, everything is, the ground in which she stood, it felt...smoother then normal, and at that point, she knew. She knew well that this is probably going to be on of the best days of her life.
She trots forwards with a giant smile on her face, greeting everypony she passes by. Every greeting fills her with more joy than before, every time she hears the sentence, “Morning Pinkie Pie.” she joyfully greets them back with a giant smile on her face, saying Good Morning and saying each of their name, although she greets at least 50 ponies as she walks by, it didn’t stop her tracks.
She planned this day from a long time ago, she told everyone that today she’ll be off, and she wants to enjoy the thing she’s been waiting for three whole years for, and nothing can stop her now.
Pinkie Pie finally stops in front of a store, simply called Games Shop. She takes a deep breath and enters the shop, seeing a normal sized line on the counter. She quickly goes to a rack called, New Releases, and quickly grabs the game...Last Fantasy 6, the newest iteration of one of her favorite games growing up, she remembers the characters, the story, the gameplay, which was all remarkable, and she was sure...this is going to be even better.
She quickly get into the line and excitedly waits for the time when is finally and rightfully hers. Time moves a bit slow due to her excitement, the mare gets a bit pacey, typical of Pinkie Pie, but she has to wait, or else she’ll get thrown out. Her legs began trotting in place, expressing her excitement, and then there it is, she was standing right in front of the cashier, handing the game to be checked out.
“That would be 70 bits Pinkie Pie.” The male brown coated stallion said, “Okey Dokey Lokey!” Pinkie said as she pulls out her a bag of bits and gave the cashier exactly 70 bits, as he takes the money, Pinkie grabbed the game and before the cashier could say thank you, She dashes off, right to her home.
She quickly sits down on her couch that she has already prepared yesterday, turn on her Pon Station 3 and put the disc to the drive, launching the game.
She is excited, super excited, to the point where she almost can’t hold the controller right. But then there it is, the title screen, showing the logo of Last Fantasy 6 and the options of New Game, and Options.
She took a detour to see if the subtitles are on, which they are, and then starts a new game. She knows, she expects, she hopes, that this is going to be one of the best and most enjoyable thing she’ll do except being with her friends and party.
Then...the game starts...
It shows an intro cutscene as per usual with next gen games. She was in awe with the graphics, it looks amazing, mind blowing even, it looks too real, this was promising.
Then the gameplay starts, she’s fighting a robot that looks quite cool in her eyes, although...something feels off, she’s just pressing one button, the x over and over, but she thought to herself, “ It’s tutorial, its progressive, its gonna get more complex later.” Then continues playing
For one hour
Then three hours
Then five
And each passing hour...her smile fades...her enthusiasm...drifting, she can’t feel it any more...for five hours, she’s just been pressing 3 buttons, and three commands, with no depth, no variety, no neat effects.
And the characters, the feel so bland...so...nothing, she can’t feel it.
She felt her happiness fade, and darkness surrounding her, and voices going silent.
She can’t say anything, as if she’s paralyzed, her mouth was slightly open, she blinks very very slowly, the controllers isn’t even on her hooves, but laying on the floor.
She looks down to her hind legs...
There was only one thing one her mind, just one thing
She needs to say...no matter how hard it can be...
“This game is terrible.” She said in a low, sad, disappointed tone.
