[Prologue]
The Sunrise of Equestria is always a beautiful sight to behold and witness by some perspectives. Not many get to see its rising form unless it’s the Summer Sun Celebration. But those who are lucky enough get to stand on a large hill with nothing but nature as a sound in the background can see it fully rise without interruption. Both Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer got to witness this event that happens every day of their lives but normally don’t see. The two Alicorn Princesses woke up very early before anypony else to see the sun rise. They stared at the magical sun which was being controlled by Princess Celestia providing both light and energy for Equestria. Sunset looked to Twilight as her
eyes weren’t focused on her at all but the breath taking scenery in front of them.
“It’s a beautiful sight… and to think that this happens every day.” Sunset said while Twilight just nodded in response before speaking.
“It is a magical event wouldn’t you say? Someday I want to study the sun and its magical properties maybe one day I can see how it really works then just providing light and energy.” Twilight much like Sunset enjoyed the thought of conducting research on newfound topics. It will always draw them more closely while feeding the excitement of discovery in their minds.
After the sun fully rose above and the commotion of ponies and other critters alike began to drain out the natural sounds around them they got up and shared a tender kiss taking in the scene and their love and returning back to the castle.
Once inside the castle they were greeted with the usual smell of pancakes in the air. Their only assumption was that Spike was preparing breakfast in the kitchen. As they walked in the kitchen they saw Spike sitting in the round dining table. Both Sunset and Twilight were both confused and horrified. Confused of why Spike is not attending to the pancakes he’s cooking and horrified by what will happen if he doesn’t pay attention. Twilight on the verge of screaming the rushing in the kitchen until Piercing and Golden came out the kitchen levitating many plates stacked high with chocolate chip pancakes.
As they placed down the many plates around the table in a specific pattern the two Princesses were in a state of shock of this new development. The two guards took their seats and pulled out the Princesses chairs in front of them. Still shocked by the sight they didn’t move an inch. Exchanging looks Golden Arrow and Piercing Dart cleared their throats which snapped them out of their trance.
“Are you feeling okay Princess Twilight and Princess Sunset?” Piercing asked with nothing but concern with his voice.
Twilight took a deep breath and spoke softly not wanting to alarm them with yelling. “Yes we are fine, we are just surprised is all.” Sunset nodded in agreement still speechless. “We have never saw you two in the kitchen before with the intent to cooking for all of us. This is something we are not used to is all.” Twilight stated calmingly sitting down while a stunned Sunset behind her stood stiff as if she was just turned to stone by Celestia. Twilight levitated Sunset onto her chair and served her a plate. Not much was said out of the older Alicorn.
After breakfast both Twilight and Sunset sat on their thrones dealing with the daily friendship problems that somehow keep reoccurring around Ponyville. This is a task tends to become quite boring and dull after a while. Some problems despite their reoccurrences can last for 2 hours or more and the situation doesn’t really need them to give advice. However there are a few issues that are quite new and require their attention that their earliest convenience. Such issues involve fights between others or groups of ponies. While some involve royal issues. These are rare throughout their friendship duties but as rare as they are they still put them as the highest friendship priority.
After about 10 hours of their royal duties they were done for the day. Sunset slouch against her throne while Twilight was writing something in a scroll. Falling victim to her curious mind Sunset peeked over and saw what she was writing. She tried to be as stealthy as she could, climbing on top of the tall throne chair seeing that Twilight was unaware of Sunset’s presence stalking her. Sunset got a clear view of what she was writing about it was a small Formula that she couldn’t decipher. She can see that Twilight was indeed having a frustrating time figuring it out but she then dematerialized the scroll and looked up at Sunset.
“You want to explain why you up there Sunset?” Twilight asked levitating the older Alicorn in front of her. She wasn’t mad at Sunset but more confused.
“No reason.” Sunset’s eyes darted from left to right trying to see a way out of this predicament. There was no way out of this…
“Oh really, because you never seemed to do that before unless you were trying to surprise me?” Twilight was putting Sunset in a corner to where there was no escape, but she made a small mistake.
Sunset took advantage of that mistake. “Yes you got me I was trying to surprise you like a small prank.”
Twilight narrowed her eyes at Sunset, she was growing more uneasy by this. Sunset however soon calmed down a bit after Twilight leaned back and gave a small chuckle.
“Don’t try to prank someone who deals with it nearly every day. Rainbow Dash tries her hand at pranking me at times and I’ve grown used to it so most of them don’t work on me anymore.” Twilight then got up and walked to the library of the castle to study a bit more on whatever she was working on.
Now alone in the throne room Sunset walks away to the Hall of Friendship. In this hall contains the 6 thrones of Friendship and the center table that holds the Map of Friendship. Sunset rarely goes through this path but this wasn’t her destination. She walked a bit further and make a hard right to a large room that looked like the library but compared to the actual library this was more of a study hall. In the center of this room was the Portal that linked the Human World to Equestria. Sunset walked up to the portal and saw her reflection through the glass-like doorway to the bridge between the two worlds.
Curiously she wondered what makes this device a portal and how it works. Twilight said that Celestia told her that this portal possesses a magic far greater than even the most powerful of Alicorns. But still if this portal acts on magic then maybe Alicorns can learn how to summon dimensional portals at will and be able to meet others worlds in the universe and beyond. The possibilities seemed endless in Sunset’s mind to what they can learn from the portal. Sunset ran out of the room to the library to find Twilight.
