Luna paced nervously around her room, the sound of her hooves clacking back at her. Tonight was the night. Tonight was her night. She was going to see her beloved Stellarus again tonight. She walked to her mirror and gazed at herself. Her large eyes were outlined in black, her lips a pale blue. Her hair was braided down her shoulder and her black dress was stunning. But still, she couldn't shake the feeling something would go wrong, that she would do something wrong. She shook her head. No. She would see Stellarus again, finally. A light knock sounded at her door, making her jump. She took a deep breath and opened the door slowly.

"Princess Luna, Princess Stellarus is here" said one of her guards.

"Thank you, Silver Arrow. Take the rest of the night off" she said tensely.

"Thank you Princess. Have a wonderful evening"

Luna finally let her breath out and headed towards the royal gardens. Her heart fluttered, beating against her ribcage. Oh god it had hurt her, having to send Stellarus away. She didn't want to, of course not. Celestia had made her. It had all started two years ago.

                                                                  ***

Stellarus and Luna had had a fight a week ago. A bad one. Stellarus had said that she was tired of Luna being so jealous of Celestia all the time. The two of them had spent a week apart before finally seeing each other again.

It was true. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and the two couldn't have been happier when they were able to finally hold one another. Until Stellarus did things. Said things. She paralyzed Luna, and had tried to kill her. Thank god Celestia stopped her. Luna had haggled down Luna for just two years of banishment, two years of heartache. Just thinking about it made Luna shudder. How much Equestria had changed, how much she had changed. Luna looked up and gasped.

Standing in front of Luna was a mare, the same height as her. Her coat was the same purple color as the sunset behind her, her mane, tail, and wings an electric blue. Small flames licked around her eyes. She hadn't dressed up at all. She looked up at Luna and grinned widely.

"Luna" she whispered happily. The two approached each other and nuzzled fondly. Luna blushed and stepped back.

"I've missed you"

"I've missed you too"

"I've had a lot of time to think. Luna, you're my world. I can't live without you. I can't breathe or think without you. I can't be anything without you. I love you" said Stellarus. Her voice was higher than Luna had remembered. Her heart beat quickened and a clenching in her stomach worsened. Something was off. She could feel it in the air, but couldn't identify it. Something was off...

"Oh god" said Luna, covering her mouth. What was that stench? It was like... rotting flesh. She looked at Stellarus. Her eyes were different. They were a brilliant rainbow of colors. But now they weren’t. They were… Dead. And then she realized. Now that she knew, it seemed like the moon itself had been yelling the answer to her. "You... “She said shakily, pointing a hoof at her. “You’ve tampered with the dark arts. You... what have you done" she asked, her hair standing on end, her voice becoming a growl. Stellarus laughed cruelly, her demeanor quickly changing. Her coat grew dark, her hair became a blue wave. Even her wings grew into an odd shape, jutting out then back in, pointed at the ends.

"Come here, Luna. Give me a hug" she asked in a deep voice. Luna felt her limbs moving without her telling them to. She stepped into the dark alicorns embrace, feeling her corruption slide into her veins, her blood running cold. A small blade slid into the small of her back. She gasped and went limp, a single tear falling. Then the moon above them flickered out.
