A devastating fire in the library where she worked and the resulting deaths of five girls has caused young librarian Twyla Sparks to go over the edge. Dr. Stephen Pike, Twyla’s supervising psychiatrist, believes her to be mostly harmless, and that there is hope to snap her out of it, if only he can get her transferred away from the confining halls of Pennville Sanitorium.
