Finding Twilight
Chapter 1: Friendless and alone.
Load Full StoryNext ChapterEclipse opened her fridge in the kitchen of her house. She reached inside and grabbed a bottle of beer. She then closed the fridge door; walked towards her couch and flung herself on it. She opened the lid of of her drink and took a sip.
She was starting to remember again, these thoughts would get her nowhere. The thoughts of her past always made her either want to drink, or talk to somepony. But the only pony who would talk to her was Twilight Sparkle. Eclipse took another sip, maybe she would go see Twilight.
Anything was better than drinking more alcohol; she had tried other ways of getting her mind off her problems. But there wasn't much to do since she had no friends. She spent most of the day working, she had a job working in the back of one of ponyville's restaurants, but she often just did inventory and moved stuff around. After she got home, there was not much to do but drink. And so she had become addicted to the stuff. it wasn't a need for the alcohol, only the emptiness that came with it, since emptiness was better than her depressing thoughts. So it became her second, and most frequent option when it came to forgetting her problems. The first, and Eclipses favorite option was spending time with Twilight. At least with her Eclipse felt as if she had friends.
Deciding that she would go see Twilight; Eclipse picked herself up off the couch and headed towards the bathroom to make sure she looked acceptable. She placed her beer on the counter as she passed it.
She checked herself in the mirror, she had a gray coat with a even darker gray mane, which had bright orange highlights, the color of a sunset. Her mane reached all the way to the beginning of her legs; it was mostly straight but had a few curls at the end. Her tail looked the same and came about halfway down her back legs. She had orange eyes, and a gray unicorn horn that peeked out of her mane. Eclipse sighed as her eyes reached her 'blank flank',
"You'll find your cutie mark one of these days," Eclipse said dully, as if she had said it a thousand times, which of course, she had. Deciding that she looked good enough for public viewing; Eclipse stepped out of the bathroom and headed towards her front door.
Eclipse opened her door to find the streets full of pony's, most were going about their business with company, chatting it up as they walked. is was a nice day, but the Pegasus were getting the clouds in place for a little rain. Eclipse started walking towards Twilight's castle.
As she walked she started to remember again: remembering how she used to cry herself to sleep at night, and still did. Remembering how she was the least favorite daughter. Remembering how she 'NO!' Eclipse did not want to remember, that's why she was going to Twilight's castle. She went there sometimes to check out books, mostly books about magic, sometimes when Eclipse was sober and off of work, she would do things with her magic like levitation and turning apples into oranges and stuff like that. And she was pretty good at it. But she mostly went there to talk with Twilight, Maybe this time Twilight would finely have an answer to why no pony liked her. Eclipse had tried everything she could think of to get pony's to like her. She would be nice, give gifts, but it did nothing for her. So eventually she gave up and decided that Twilight and JackDaniels were her only friends.
a few minuets of walking went by and Eclipse reached the castle. She knocked on the door and after a few seconds Spike the baby dragon, opened the door and said
"Finally, i was beginning to wonder wha... oh its you," his voice went from relief to disappointment.
"Yeah, just me, is uh Twilight here?" Eclipse said quietly, "i wanna talk to her,"
Spike's face was full of annoyance and disappointment, he looked around anxiously, as if waiting for somepony to walk up to them. finally he said, "No, no she uh, she went out,"
As if she was waiting for the perfect moment Twilight chose that time to say, "Are they here Spike? let them in already," Twilight called from another part of the castle.
Spike sighed and stepped aside to let Eclipse in, "Thanks," she muttered as she passed him.
"She's up stairs, in her bedroom," he said with another sigh.
Eclipse walked through the main hall and up the stairs in the back. She turned corners and walked hall ways until she got to Twilight's bedroom.
Eclipse knocked on the door to Twilight's room.
"Oh come on girls, you don't have to knock," Twilight called from inside
"Its Eclipse,"
After a few seconds Twilight said "Okay, come on in,"
Eclipse opened the door and walked in, Twilight was laying on her bed with a book open in front of her.
"So what do you want?" Twilight said, "Ive got friends that are gonna be here any second," she sounded annoyed, as if Eclipse had just barged in unannounced.
"I just wanna talk, i..."
Twilight sighed loudly and got off her bed, "Eclipse, we have already talked about everything there is to talk about."
"I know, but i was hoping you would some answers to my problem."
"Eclipse, listen to me, I don't know why nopony likes you, I'm not sure I ever will."Twilights voice was gentle but Eclipse heard annoyance in it. "You can't keep coming to me like this, there is nothing more I can do for you."
"I just need you to be my friend Twilight," Eclipse said quietly.
"Eclipse, I'm not sure I ca..."
CRASH! "You ready for a day of awesomeness!?" Rainbow Dash said as she burst through the door, sending the door flying off its hinges and across the room.
"Rainbow,"-Twilight said exasperatedly, as she levitated the door back to its hinges and secured it in place "Can you try not to rip my door of its hinges?"
"Oh, yeah, sorry. So are ya!?" Rainbow said, hovering in place.
"Hold your horses Rainbow Dash," Applejack said as she walked in behind Rainbow Dash, followed by Fluttershy, Rarity and pinkie pie.
"It looks like Twilight is in the middle of something," Applejack finished.
"Oh it's you," Rainbow dash said with a grimace, looking at Eclipse, her face was pure dislike.
"No it's ok, we were just finishing up," Eclipse said quietly, "I'll get out of your hair," Eclipse gave one last glance at Twilight then turned and left. She avoided eye contact with the other ponies as she did.
Twilight watched Eclipse leave, Twilight didn't really know how she felt towards Eclipse. She knew she was supposed to help her and everything, she was the princess of friendship after all. But there was just something about her that Twilight didn't like.
"Why do you even talk to that pony?" Rainbow Dash said rudely, looking at Twilight,
"I'm not sure Rainbow, I'm not sure," Twilight said, starring emptily at where Eclipse used to be for a few seconds, then shook her head and said "alright, you girls ready for some fun!?"
As Eclipse was trotting towards the front door, she felt tiers start to swell in her eyes. She started galloping,
and when she got there she threw herself through the door. The Pegasus ponies had finished moving the
clouds in place, and it was starting to dribble.
Tiers were starting to run down Eclipse's face, " Well...fuck," She said, her voice cracking.
'Beer it is then' Eclipse thought to herself, she remembered the way Rainbow Dash had looked at her, pure
Dislike, would Eclipse ever have friends? Not if every pony she met looked at her like that. But she still had
some hope left, after all Twilights other friends didn't look at her like that.
The yellow one, Fluttershy Eclipse thought her name was, mostly avoided eye contact and looked at her hooves. Rarity looked at her like she had done something wrong, but was still trying to be pelite. Pinkie Pie who was bouncing before she saw Eclipse, had a smile, but it seemed forced. Pinkie Pie was one of the only ponies who actually smiled at Eclipse. Applejack had looked comforting, but it was the kind of comfort you would Give somepony you didn't really like, but still didn't want to be rude.
But it was worthless, none of the other ponies had ever shown any implication that they wanted to be friends with Eclipse. So she started longing for her dry home, a comfy couch, and a cold beer.
So in the absence of other ponies and a beer in her hooves, Eclipse started remembering her fillyhood the earliest memory she had was when she was about a year old. She was curled up on the couch with her father, which was the only memory of her parents where they actually seemed to love her. She had asked him why she was named Eclipse. It wasn't a normal sounding name.
"Well, an eclipse was something nopony nowadays had ever seen," he answered, his voice soft and comforting, "More then a thousand years ago, before Celestia was here to raise the sun and moon, they were both up at the same time."
"The same time?" Eclipse had said, wide eyed and sounding bewildered
"That's right," he answered with a little chuckle at the look on her face "The same time, since the moon is smaller it was in front of the sun."
"But how could any pony see?" Eclipse had cut in.
"Well since the sun is bigger than the moon, a tiny bit of the edges pocked out from behind the moon so ponies could see. And that's why we called you Eclipse, because the way your cute little highlights look against you dark hair," he said as he ran a hoof through her mane,"Look exactly like the edges of the sun during an eclipse."
As Eclipse was remembering that moment, the rain had begun to pour. But Eclipse liked to walk in the rain,
because nopony could see her cry. So her memories went on, by the time she was in school, her parents
had apparently stopped loving her. She made no friends, she sat alone at lunch, during recess she would
just sit on the swings and wait for the bell to ring. It didn't take long before other ponies started to bully
her, they would mostly just Insult her, calling her a blank flank. But sometimes they would Push her around.
When she was about nine years old, her mother gave birth to her little sister. by that point she had already
accepted the fact that she was alone; so when her parents started spending most of there time with the new filly, it didn't effect Eclipse much.
For another nine years she carried on like that. Friendless, and alone, most of her time was spent in her room, she had fallen behind in school, failing most of her classes. She still went, just to have something to do, When she got home she would head straight to her room to either sleep or read. She read mostly fiction
stories, about epic battles and great journeys. They were her only escape from the real world, she
occasionally read books on magic. Magical Arts was the only class she wasn't failing, but her grades were still Poor.
On her eighteenth birthday she was finally able to leave, so she did. Eclipse still remembered the day like it was yesterday. She had come home from school that day to find her parents sitting in the living room,
Playing with her sister. They didn't even look up at her, say hello or anything. She stood there, watching them play for a few seconds. Then, preparing herself for what she was about to do, took a deep breath
and bolted up the stairs to her bedroom. She pulled a suit case from under her bed and proceeded to pack
it with a comb, a bag of bits, and some of her fantasy and magic books. She lugged the suit case downstairs to find her parents waiting for her.
"So, your leaving then," her mother said sternly, it was more of an order then a question.
"Yeah I'm leaving," Eclipse answered, not wanting to look her mother in the eyes
"Ok, ok then," her mother said quietly,
Eclipse walked past them, and stopped at the door, she turned and looked around at the house. Her sister
had come into the room and was looking at Eclipse
"Mommy, is Eclipse leaving?" She asked,
"Yes honey, she's leaving," her mother said putting a hoof around her filly
They all stood there waiting for Eclipse to leave, a tier ran down her face. And then, with a deep breath and one last glance at her family, Eclipse opened the door and left
Eclipse had gone to the train station, she had used to live in dodge city, but wanted somewhere new, to start
fresh. She had picked ponyville because it was close, and looked like it might have some cheep houses.
When she got there she barely had enough bits for a hotel room, so she rented a a cheep room for a few
nights and went out to look for work. She tried about eight different places before she got to the restaurant
she worked at now. When she went to the front desk to apply for the job they had said no.
"Really?!" Eclipse had nearly shouted, "What's wrong with me? I am perfectly able to stack shelves!"
Twilight, who had been waiting behind her inline cut in,
"Excuse me, I really see no point in not letting this pony have the job, she looks great for it"
The clerk looked a little angry at being told what to do by one of his customers, but nopony else had applied and they needed the position filled as soon as possible, so he said.
"Ok, fine just come with me and we can work it out" he said walking towards the back of the restaurant,
Eclipse looked behind her at the unicorn who had helped her get the job,
"Thanks a million," Eclipse said to her, but Twilight's face had swapped from delight to annoyance in an instant
"Yeah, ok," she answered, blankly
Eclipse sighed, and followed the stallion behind the desk 'looks like it's gonna be the same here as back
home' she thought to herself.
And so she lived the next few years in ponyville all alone except for Twilight.
BOOM! Thunder and the flash of lightning brought Eclipse back to reality. She was at her house and she was soaking wet.
"Dammit," she muttered, as she opened the door, and used her migic to levitate a towel from the kitchen over to her, she then laid it out on the ground in front of her, she stepped on it and closed the door behind her. Her horn glowing with gray magic, she levitated another towel over and used it to dry herself off.
After she was dry she walked over to the kitchen and was about to open the fridge for a beer, then she paused. The thoughts of what had just happened, and her memories were swerling in her head.
Why do i even need them? She thought, her sadness was turneing into anger, I don't need them. Fuck them,
fuck ,Rainbow Dash. Fuck ,Rarity. Fuck ,Pinkie Pie. Fuck ,Fluttershy. Fuck ,Applejack and... And... And fuck ,Twilight Sparkle.
"Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them," Eclipse's voice was rising and filing with anger, until she screamed, "Fuck!" She started punching the fridge, "Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck," she said every time her hoof hit the fridge.
After a few minutes, the fridge door was dented and her hoof was num. Eclipse sat there, rubbing her hurt hoof softly. The tiers came back, they started running down her face, she started crying, crying harder then she had in a long time. She fell to the floor, comforted slightly by the pit pat of the rain hitting the roof, and the occasional boom of thunder. It didn't take long for Eclipse to fall asleep.
When she finally woke up, the sun was high in the sky. She got up slowly, looking at the clock on the counter.
It read '1:32'.
"Dame," Eclipse said to herself, "That's like... Sixteen hours or something,"
She looked at the fridge, the feelings of last night came back to her. They were dark, darker then Eclipse usually felt.
In all her life of being rejected by ponies, Eclipse never felt anger towards them, always sadness for herself. She supposed it was just the filly inside her, thinking that she had done something wrong. The innocent little pony who thought if she tried harder, ponies would like her. 'Huh, who am I kidding' Eclipse thought to herself 'I've never done anything wrong, it's all them, all their fault. Why do I need them, I'm doing just fine on my own'
Eclipse opened the fridge, looking for something to eat. Eclipse usually kept some green apples in there, she liked them better cold. She grabbed a couple and a beer in her magic and took them over to the couch. She popped the lid off the beer using the edge of the coffe table and set the apples down on it. 'I don't need them' her thoughts of hate coming back to her 'What good would a friend do anyway, nothing, that's what' she thought as she took a bite of her apple. Her hatred for ,Twilight and her friends growing every second.
'Fuck them, I don't need them, why would anypony need them, why would anypony need her. Twilight, she couldn't even figure out a sulution to my problem, she's supposed to be a genius. But she can't solve a simple problem'
Eclipse went threw her memories of ,Twilight, yeah she was nice to her, but now that Eclipse thought about it, whenever they were together ,Twilight's kindness seemed, superficial. 'Like she didn't really like me' Eclipse froze, anger and hatred consuming her every thought. 'She never really liked me, she never really cared for me, she was never my friend. How could she? She tricked me, lied to me' Eclipse was trembling, she didn't know what to do, what could she do? There was nothing to be done; Eclipse just had to accept the fact that, Twilight tricked her. 'No, there is something that I can do' at that moment, an idea entered Eclipse's brain, an awful, brilliant idea. 'I'm going to kill her... I'm going to kill Twilight Sparkle'
It didn't take long to convince herself that she would try and murder ,Twilight. After a few days of fighting herself on it, she decided that she would do it. So the next question was how? Eclipse started pacing in her bedroom, "Can I sneak into her castle at night?" She said to her self, Eclipse likes to talk to herself, it helps her focus. "Can I run into her on the streets and do it then? Can I trot over to her castle and do it now?"
But these ideas wouldn't work, she would need to get Twilight alone if she was going to do it. "Wait a second, What if I ask her to go on a walk with me? Yeah, that might work, we can go far enough from ponyville that nopony could see us. And while we're out there I can do it, I could hide the body in some bushes or something. By the time ponies notice she's missing and find her, I'll be safe and cozy in my home." Eclipse started thinking of any ways that she could get caught, but there was none, it was perfect.
For the rest of that day, Eclipse sat and thought threw any details that would be important. One problem
that arouse was how she would actually kill ,Twilight. She decided that she would use a kitchen knife, since she wasn't about to try and use magic to kill an alicorn. Eclipse would hide the knife in her tail, she would have to tie the handle of the knife, to some of her hair so it would stay in there. She tried this, using her magic to tie the knife to her tail. Eclipse's tail was thick enough that if she tied it to the hair in the middle of her tail, it would be secure, and hidden. The weight of the knife made her tail sag a bit, but she doubted anypony would notice.
Eclipse untied the knife from her tail and put it away. With that problem salved, Eclipse went to bed, feeling exited, worried, ashamed, and anxious about the next day. She decided that there was no more planing to do, so she was going to do it tomorrow. She stayed up late thinking about what she was about to do, and after hours of thinking, she fell asleep.
The next morning, Eclipse got up and made some breakfast. She had haybacon and some raspberries. After breakfast, she checked herself in the mirror, her mane was a mess, so she started to come it. As she did, she started second guessing herself, looking herself straight in the eyes she said, "Your going to do this, you need to do this." After coming her mane she took a look at her tail, it was another mess.
She started coming her tail, her eyes falling on her flank, "Why don't I have a cutie mark?" This question was one she asked herself a lot, but mostly gave up trying to answer, it wasn't every day you met a fully grown pony who had a blank flank, " Who knows, maybe your special talent will be killing ,Twilight, you never know I guess"
Finishing up with her tail, Eclipse looked herself in the eye for a few seconds. Pumping her self up for what she was about to do, but the hatred and anger were doing that plenty. So, she set off, leaving the bathroom; Eclipse went to the kitchen to get the knife in place. It was a hassles to tie it to the proper strains of hair but, she got it in. She went to her front door, and left for Twilight's castle
The ground was muddy because of the rain from yesterday, but today was bright and sunny. Eclipse's heart was racing faster than it ever had before; and by the time Eclipse got to the castles front door, she was pretty sure it was going to pound straight out of her chest.
Eclipse took a step forward and knocked on the front door. After a few seconds ,Spike opened the door to
find Eclipse standing there.
"What is it now Eclipse," he said with a heavy sigh
"I need to talk with Twilight," Eclipse's voice was full of confidence, not the usual quiteness she spoke with.
But Spike didn't seem to notice.
"Alright, alright come on," he said, stepping aside to allow Eclipse to enter.
Eclipse walked past ,Spike with barely a glance as he closed the door. She needed to do this as quickly as possible. Eclipse walked through the castle until she got to Twilight's bedroom, the door was slightly open. Eclipse mocked softly on the door, pushing it open slightly more. Eclipse's heart was going crazy, it sounded like somepony was playing drums inside of her.
"Who is it?" Twilight said from her room,
'This is it, you can do this come on Eclipse, you can do this'
"It's Eclipse, can I come in?" Her voice still had that confidence in it that made it more of a order than a question.
"Yeah, I guess so" Twilight answered.
Eclipse pushed the door open and walk in to find Twilight reading on her bed again.
"So what is it?" Twilight asked,
"Um, well, I was wondering if, uh, do you wanna go on a walk?" Eclipse's voice lost all confidence while looking at Twilight, those eyes, they just made her feel so ashamed of what she was planning to do.
"I don't know, Eclipse I..."
"Come on, all you have going on is books, and you can read books anytime" said Eclipse, gaining back some of her confidence.
Twilight took a deep breath and said "ok, I guess we can go on a little walk,"
"Great, then lest go," Eclipse said,
Twilight closed her book with a bit of magic, and got off her bed. Walking past Eclipse and out the door. Eclipse followed close behind her. They got to the front door and walked outside.
"So where too?" Twilight asked expectingly.
"Let's go this way," Eclipse said, pointing towards the quickest way out of ponyville.
After around twenty minutes of walking, Eclipse decided they were far enough away from ponyville. Twilight
had barley said anything the whole time, she seemed to just be trying to get through this as quickly as possible.
Eclipse started falling behind Twilight, no longer side by side, still parallel but Eclipse's head was now beside Twilight's tail. Twilight didn't seem to notice, she was just staring at her hooves.
Eclipse's heart started racing again, it started pounding so fast. 'Alright Eclipse, it's now or never, you can do this, just take out the knife and stab her. Come on, it's that simple.'
Eclipse's horn started glowing gray as she untied the knife from her tail. All of a sudden, time seemed to stop; Eclipse started thinking. 'I can't do this, I can't t kill somepony, what was I thinking!' Eclipse started screaming at herself in her head. 'How could you?! Twilight has never done anything wrong, she may have been annoyed with Me at times but she's still the nicest pony I ever met.'
Eclipse stopped in her tracks, she stopped her magic, her knife still hidden. After walking a few more feet before she noticed Eclipse had stopped, Twilight turned and said.
"Are you coming or not?"
But Eclipse's face was full of tiers. How could she have done this? Eclipse's needed ,Twilight, she was her only friend. Eclipse started balling her eyes out.
Twilight wasn't sure why she even agread to go on the walk in the first place. It wasn't as if she truly cared for ,Eclipse. Twilight felt some guilt at not really trying to be friends with Eclipse. But when she thought of spending more time with Eclipse, that put the guilt right out her head.
So when she turned around to find Eclipse crying. Twilight started feeling a bit sorry for her. She had walked over to where Eclipse had stopped; she just stood there, not sure what to do. Then out of nowhere Eclipse threw herself on Twilight in a hug. Twilight, surprised by what was happening, still just stood there,
Awkwardly patting Eclipse's back. Eclipse just cryed into Twilight's shoulder. Eventually Twilight made out some words Eclipse was stuttering threw her tiers.
"I, I'm so alone Twilight," her voice was so week, so crushed, it Melted Twilights haert. "I can't go on like this,"
Finally, Twilight got it, she needed to help this pony. She was clearly struggleing, how could Twilight be so inconsiderate.
"It's ok Eclipse, I'm here, I'm here now," holding Eclipse in a tight hug.
The words comforted Eclipse, and as Twilight said them; Eclipse felt something inside her. Not an emotion, or a feeling, but something different. Something Eclipse never realized she had, that something had been preventing her from having friends. And that something was gone now, she felt it leave her as soon as Twilight spoke those words of comfort.
Eclipse pulled away from Twilight, looking her in her eyes, Twilight looked straight back at her. After a few seconds of gazing into each other's eyes, they both seemed to realize the same thing. Eclipse knew now
that ,Twilight's comfort wasn't fake, that Twilight really felt for her now. And for Twilight, it was the realization of what she had put Eclipse threw all these years, and that she needed to make up for it.
After these thoughts came to their heads, it didn't take long for them to nearly crush each other in a hug, tiers flowing down both of there faces.
Eclipse didn't know how long they stood there like that. All she knew was that she finally had a friend, a true friend. Eventually they let go of each other,
"E-Eclipse, I am so sorry, I, I should have tried harder I should have..."
"Twilight, it's ok, I understand," Eclipse said, cutting Twilight off. "So do you want to go back to the castle?"
"Yeah, we've been gone awhile, Spike might be wondering where we are."Twilight answered, wiping up the last of her tiers.
As they walked, Eclipse managed to slip the knife off her tail and leave it in the dirt.
When Twilight and Eclipse got back to ponyville, they ran into Rainbow Dash.
"Hay!" Rainbow called from down the street, Flying over to meat them. But as she got there, her eyes fell on Eclipse. Rainbow Dash's face went from surprise, to understanding, and to guilt in about two seconds. Her wings closed, and she dropped to the ground, and walked towards Eclipse.
"Eclipse," Rainbow said, her voice full of guilt, "Eclipse, I'm so so sorry for the way I treated you, I was so rude."
"It's ok Rainbow Dash, I forgive you," Eclipse said, with a great big smile, she could barely contain her happiness. Eclipse finally had friends, she had been waiting her whole life for this day.
"So do you guys wanna hang out?" Eclipse asked them,
"Oh, yeah let's meat at Twilight's place," and without a word of explanation, Rainbow Dash spread her wings, took off and zipped away.
Eclipse and Twilight looked at each-other
"Let's go to my place then," Twilight said, rolling her eyes.
By the time they got there, Rainbow Dash was waiting outside the front door.
"Geese, you guys took forever," Rainbow Dash said walking towards them.
"Don't worry Eclipse, you'll get used to her" Twilight said, looking playfully at Eclipse,
Eclipse smiled and said, "'So, what are we doing here?" She asked Rainbow Dash.
"I told our other friends to come meat us here, so we can all hang out,"
Rainbow Dash was secretly dying to know what was going on. Eclipse and Twilight walking threw town talking and being friendly. From what Rainbow gathered, she thought Twilight never really liked Eclipse, but there she was. Chatting it up with Eclipse. Then there was Rainbow's own feelings, she had no idea why she all of a sudden liked Eclipse. But she didn't want to ask, she thought she was all ready rude enough to Eclipse for one lifetime. So even tho it killed her, she would wait and hope, Twilight would explain things.
"Well let's go inside and wait for them," Twilight said,
"Ok, now that you're all here, I will explain things," Twilight said, it wasn't Long before Twilight's other friends had gotten there. And after many apologies for the mistreatment of Eclipse; they were all in one of the castles lounge rooms. Eclipse was sitting in one of the chairs besides Twilight.
"Now," Twilight continued, "I'll just start at the beginning, earlier today I was sitting in my bedroom, reading, when Eclipse came and asked me to go on a walk. I'm not sure what made me say yes, but, none the less, I went. And after we had been walking for awhile, I turned around to find Eclipse, um, crying," Twilight glanced at Eclipse, half expecting her to be mad at sharing this detail. But Eclipse just looked at Twilight, waiting for her to finish the story. "So I went over to comfort her, and, something clicked in my mind. Eclipse needed me, she needed me to be her friend. And that's when I finally decided I was going too; before then I was just, pretending, it wasn't real. There was something about you I didn't like, and I still have no idea what that thing was."
"Yeah," Applejack cut in, looking at Eclipse,"Today when I first saw ya' Eclipse, there was something different about the way I felt towards you. Before, I just never really liked ya' but now, there nothing wrong with you."
"Yes, and I think the exact moment when you became likable, not to say you weren't likable before but that," Twilight stumbled over her words, trying not to to offend You Eclipse, "Just that the moment when we all..."
"It's ok Twilight," Eclipse said, with a little smile at watching Twilight try and not offended her, "I get it"
Twilight looked relieved, and continued, "Anyway, the moment she became likable, was the same moment I decided to like her."
"So, the only way she would be likable was to be liked?" Rainbow Dash asked sounding confused, "That doesn't make any sense,"
"Could it be some kind of spell?" Fluttershy's quiet voice asked, Fluttershy was sitting on the couch with Pinkie Pie and Applejack, across from Twilight and Eclipse. Rainbow Dash was hovering overhead,
And Rarity was on another chair to her left.
"Not any I've ever heard of," Rarity said, "Besides, who use magic just to make somepony unlikable?"
"Well what else could it be?" Applejack asked, looking at Twilight.
"Im not sure," Twilight said thoughtfully,
"Well it's been all of twenty minutes since we all like Eclipse now so we're long over due for a,"Pinkie Pie said
climatically, "A glad your are friend, slash its your first party party!" She finished as she rolled a canon out of nowhere, and was about to shoot it off when Eclipse said.
"Holy crap! Pinkie what are you doing?!" She said as she leapt from her chair and took cover behind it.
"Oh it's just my party canon," Pinkie Pie said casually, "You know, to shoot confetti,"
Eclipse peaked her head out from behide the chair apprehensivly, as if she would be fired upon at any moment. "Confetti," Eclipse said, a little suspicious.
"Oh don't worry darling, you will get used to her shenanigans eventually." Rarity said.
It seemed to Eclipse like there was was a lot of 'getting used to' with these ponies.
"Pinkie, maybe we should have the party later," Twilight said,
"No," Eclipse said, "if tonight's the first night of our friendship, then I want it to be the best night of my life!"
"Woohoo!" Pinkie said, firing off her canon with a loud pop, confetti flew everywhere.
And that night was, the best night of Eclipse's life.
The next morning, Eclipse opened her eyes slowly. She was laying on the floor with her back hooves on the couch. To her left, Pinkie Pie was laying spread eagle, face down on the floor, snoring. Eclipse turned her head right, and found Rainbow Dash siting up right with her eyes closed, using a bottle of mostly empty beer as a teddy bear. Beside her was Rarity, sleeping curled up on the chair. And on the couch Eclipse was propping her hooves on, was Applejack. Everything was covered in several layers of confetti.
Eclipse stood up woozily, Spike was behind the couch, he looked pretty grumpy trying to sweep up the confetti.
"Where's Twilight?" Eclipse asked him, wiping the sleep out of her eyes.
"She said she was going to that little patch of bushes outside of ponyville. She said that's where she decided to like you, and wanted to see if the spot had anything to do with it."
"Oh, well I'm gonna go find her. And, I'm sorry about the mess,"
Spike rolled his eyes, "Pinkie does this about twice a month," he said irritatedly.
Eclipse started walking towards the front door. 'Maybe we can all go grab some breakfast?' She thought, now that she had friends, Eclipse wanted to spend every waking moment with them.
She got to the door and walked outside. There were a few clouds the sky, but it was still sunny. Eclipse started walking towards the spot where she and Twilight became friends.
Now that she was alone, Eclipse started thinking about the past day.
"Had it been a spell?" She asked herself, "a potion? Surely Twilight must know. She the smartest pony in ponyville, maybe even in all of Equestria." After a about twenty minutes of walking, Eclipse was approaching where she got a friend.
It was a hilly valley. where Eclipse got a friend was at the bottom of one of the hills, and just as she got to the top of the one near the spot. Eclipse saw something, she could see where the bushes were, but there was something else there. It was black smoke, the smoke was in a kind of ball shape, and flouting about five feet of the ground. The ball was about as big as a mattress, top to bottom and side to side.
Behind the ball of smoke, Eclipse could barely see Twilight's face, Twilight didn't notice her tho, her eyes were glued to the ball of smoke. Twilight had a look of confusion and fear on her face.
"You?! How can it be you?!" Twilight spoke to the ball, there was clearly something on her side that wasn't on Eclipse's side.
Eclipse heard a soft laugh come from the smoke, the sound was deep, and sounded like a growl.
And as soon as the laugh stopped, There was a flash of light. After wiping her eyes Eclipse looked back at Twilight, but she was gone. Both Twilight and the ball of smoke.
Eclipse's mind started racing, 'could it be some kind of game?' She thought, but the look on Twilight's face told her all she needed to know. Twilight was taken.
Eclipse's mind went empty of all thought, except for one thing. 'Twilight was missing, Twilight was ponynapped
Eclipse started galloping got back to the castle as fast as she could.
