Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight walked slowly, sadly, down the road. Her head was low, and her ears drooped. The faintest hint of a red glow remained in her eyes, but other than that they were almost grey. Her mane was messy, unkempt, burnt; her coat was covered in black splotches of dust and charred hair. The sky seemed grey, and the sun was hidden by a massive bank of impenetrable clouds. A cold wind blew from the east. The street was empty; besides her and the wide-open cobbled streets, there was nothing. Identical buildings sat on one side, repeating endlessly, while a stretch of empty piers occupied the other. Massive waves bashed against the quay wall, shaking the island down to its core.
A small black speck landed on the ground in front of her. She ignored it, opting to continue walking forward. The waves grew in intensity. A red glow slowly began to replace the grey. Another black speck fell in front of her, then another. She felt her heartbeat begin to pick up as a thin layer of snow - no, not snow - began to cover the street. She dragged her hoof through it and brought it to her face. This was no snow; this was ash.
Twilight looked around in a panic. Her heart raced as she began to hear distant screams. Smoke rose from multiple buildings all over the city, and thick soot filled the air. She began galloping, not looking back, going wherever her hooves would take her -
She ran straight into Renadeus, who instantly stamped his hoof against the ground. Twilight found herself encased in a sphere of red crystals. Then, without warning, they all shot towards her. She prepared herself for the excruciating pain -
