//-------------------------------------------------------// The Pink in the Rainbow -by LindsElaine- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1    Rainbow Dash fluttered her eyes open as she gently awoke. She extended her wings and proceeded into a full-body stretch. She yawned, rubbing her eyes with a forehoof to clear them of the lazy haze that often came with sleeping in. When she regained her sight, what she saw startled her.    "Goodmorning, sleeping beauty!" A pink pony floated in the air beside the cloud Rainbow occupied, smiling from ear to ear. Rainbow saw that she had multiple balloons tied around her waist. "Now get up, sleepyhead! We're burning daylight!"    "Pinkie Pie! How long have you been up here?"    "Long enough to know you snore when you sleep!" Pinkie imitated Rainbow's snoring and giggled.    Rainbow sat up on her cloud and looked at Pinkie Pie questioningly. "Have you been watching me?"    "Well, duh!" Pinkie smiled happily. "See, I really wanted to spend all day with you today, so I got up early and got all of my baking done! Then I got all these balloons so I could come and find you, which was easy because this is the only cloud in the sky today so I knew you must have made it so you could sleep, and when I finally got up here, you were sleeping, just like I thought! And you looked so comfy-cozy that I just couldn't bring myself to wake you up!" As she talked Pinkie Pie gestured excitedly, all the while entangling herself in the balloons. She noticed this and started pulling at the strings in an attempt to untangle herself, complicating the matter even more so. Pinkie somehow ended up hanging upside down. "And so I waited."    Rainbow Dash smiled at the sight of her friend hanging there, tangled in ballons. She let out a laugh. "Pinkie Pie, you are so so random! Here, lemme help you."    Rainbow fluttered her wings and rose into the sky, first clearing it of the cloud she was previously sleeping on and then hovering above Pinkie, beginning to pull at the strings to free her friend.    "Aw, Dash, you don't have to! I'm sure I can do it myself. But then again, maybe not, considering it was me that got myself all tangled up in the first place!" Pinkie snorted an looked up toward Rainbow Dash. "You ok up there?"    Rainbow Dash's mouth was full of strings as she pulled and yanked. "Hang on." Her voice was somewhat muffled. "Just hold still."    "Okie dokie lokie!" Pinkie saluted to Rainbow Dash, and the movement of her foreleg caused several balloons to smack Rainbow in the face.    "Hey, watch it!" Rainbow released her grip on the strings and closed her eyes, struggling to push the balloons away from her face, becoming entangled herself.    "Agh!"    "Don't worry, I got it!" Pinkie swung herself upright and used her teeth to cut the strings of the balloons that entangled Rainbow Dash.    Pinkie smiled. "There you go, Dashie!"    Rainbow Dash looked down to the earth below in disbelief. "Pinkie Pie, what have you d- Ahhh!"    As the detached balloons floated away into the sky, the two ponies began hurtling toward the ground. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2    "Ahhh!"    "Wheee!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed cheerfully as both she and Rainbow Dash fell from the sky to the earth below.    Rainbow Dash struggled to extend her tangled wings, and at the last moment they flew open, although too restricted to allow her to use them properly. The two ponies landed on the ground with a thud, most of the remaining balloons popping on impact. Rainbow Dash groaned.    "That was fun, Dashie! Let's do it again!" Smiling, Pinkie Pie held a remaining balloon out to Rainbow Dash.    Rainbow Dash gave Pinkie an annoyed glance before turning to snap the strings that still entangled them. Pinkie shrugged and bit the end off of the balloon and inhaled, taking in a breath of helium. "So what do you wanna do today Dashie?" Pinkie Pie bursted out laughing at the sound of her own voice, laughing even harder at her ridiculous-sounding laugh.    Rainbow Dash finished clipping the strings off of them and spat them out onto the grass. She shook herself off. "I'm not laughing." She looked to Pinkie Pie. "I can think of better ways to wake up in the morning than falling out of the sky."    "Aw, I'm sorry Dashie." Pinkie's ears drooped. "I just wanted us to have a super-duper extra-special Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie day together."    Rainbow Dash sighed. "Well, you got me up. Or, down anyway. So what do you wanna do?"    Pinkie Pie instantly perked up. "I thought maybe we could go have breakfast at Sugarcube Corner! And then later a walk in the park!" Pinkie paused. "But whatever you wanna do is fine with me, Dash!"    Rainbow Dash gave her friend a small smile. "I'm kinda hungry. Breakfast sounds good."    Pinkie took in another lungfull of helium. "Yippie!" She released the balloon and watched as it flew in every direction, landing on Rainbow's nose.    Pinkie giggled and began bouncing ahead in the direction of Sugarcube Corner. Rainbow Dash removed the deflated balloon from her muzzle, flinging it aside as she watched Pinkie hop along cheerfully. She rolled her eyes. Spending the entire day with Pinkie definitely wasn't what she had planned on doing, but she had nothing else planned anyway. She'd probably just practice her flying and testing her speed and agility as she usually did on weekends, but she already was the best flier in Equestria. What more was there to try for? She was free for the day, and she figured she could put up with Pinkie Pie and whatever she had planned. After all, it was always a party with Pinkie.    Rainbow Dash caught up to the pink pony. "So, Rainbow and Pinkie day, huh?"    Pinkie looked at Rainbow Dash and smiled brightly. "Yeah! Why not? I mean, we've been friends for a long time and I just don't feel like we get enough time with just each other!" Pinkie leaned into Rainbow Dash as they walked. "I really like spending time with you, Dashie."    Rainbow smiled at her friend. "Thanks, Pinkie. That's nice of you."    "Aw, no need to thank me!"    The two of them had then reached Sugarcube Corner, and Pinkie ran to open the door for Dash.    "Uhhh, thanks."    Pinkie Pie gave Rainbow Dash a smile as she entered the bakery.
