A Weekend with A Special Somepony
It has now been a few months since Rainbow Dash has become an official member of the Wonderbolts. She has made great friends with Spitfire and Fleetfoot, but she didn’t seem able to talk to Soarin about anything. When she would try to talk to the stallion he would not give her his full attention. He seemed nervous at times when she would talk to him. “Hey, Soarin, did you see my new routine?” She said to the sky blue pegasus. He just nodded without any other compliment. He walked away and flew off to the locker rooms.
“Why, don’t you just talk to her?” Soarin asked himself as Spitfire walks in.
“Hey ya, Soarin. You fussin about Rainbow Dash, again?” She asked.
“Yeah. I don’t know how to talk to her. I have too many feelings for her, and I don’t want to embarrass myself.” Soarin said sitting on a bench.
“Just talk to her how you would talk with me and Fleetfoot. She not much different.” She said sitting next to him.
“Thanks, Spit.”
“No problem, Soarin.” Soarin walked out of the locker rooms and began to fly home when he ran into Rainbow. He blushed and took a deep breath.
“Hey, Soarin. What happened back there?” she asked.
“Oh, nothing. I just… get nervous when I’m around you. I mean you’re like one of the best fliers on the team, since Spitfire.” He rubbed the back of his mane. “And I kind of… have a crush on you.” He said looking at the cyan mare.
Rainbow blushed, “I have to admit, I do have a little crush on you too.” Both of them landed on the nearest cloud.
“I didn’t know you felt the same way. I’m sorry for not talking to you sooner.” Soarin said sitting next to Rainbow.
“I wasn’t sure how you would have felt when I told you. So, I kind of wanted to keep my distance from you.”
“Soarin, nothing would have changed if you told me sooner. I would have told you anyway how I felt.” Said Rainbow looking at Soarin.
He smiled. “Thanks, Rainbow. Well in that case, do you want to go out with me to get a bite to eat?” Soarin asked Rainbow.
“Sure, Soarin.” Rainbow said as they took off to The Hayburger in Ponyville. When they got to The Hayburger they both ordered the same meal and chatted the rest of the night away. After they chatted, Soarin flew with Rainbow and dropped her off at her cloud home in Ponyville.
“Thanks, Soarin, for the little night out.” Rainbow said looking at him with a smile.
“My pleasure, Rainbow Dash. Hope you’re ready for tomorrow's practice.” He said.
“Oh, don’t worry I’m ready for anything you guys throw at me.” She said. “Thanks again for the hayburger.” Soarin nodded and waved good bye. Rainbow waved back and walked inside her home and went straight to bed.
The Next Day- Rainbow’s Perspective
When I woke up the next morning I walked to the kitchen. I made myself a sandwich and packed my things to head off to Canterlot and got ready for the day's practice. When I reached Canterlot I was greeted by Soarin.
“Morning, Rainbow.”
“Morning, Soarin.” I said smiling.
“Rainbow, can I ask you something?” Soarin asked.
“Yeah, go ahead anything. What’s on your mind?”
“We don’t have any practice for the next few days, so I was wondering,”He ran his hoof through his mane, “do you want to spend the weekend with me?”
“Sure, Soarin. I have nothing planned this weekend.” I smiled and we flew together to the practicing area.
After training we went out for another dinner together. This time it was in Canterlot, a place called the Lunar Dinner. “Wow, Soarin this is a nice place you found.”
“Thanks, Rainbow. I had reservations since last week. I was planning on going here with the whole team, but since it’s our weekend off why don’t have a romantic dinner together?” Soarin said looking over to me.
“Ah, that’s sweet of you.” I said smiling.
They walk up to the waiter at the front door, “Reservation for Soarin.” Soarin said to the stallion.
“Ah, yes, Lieutenant Soarin and Flyer Rainbow Dash. Please right this way.” Said the waiter. We followed him to a private area of the restaurant. The area was gorgeous it was perfectly lit and well decorated with flowers and pots on a balcony. It was a perfect time of night the moon just rising and the setting was breathtaking.
“Soarin you didn’t have to go through all of this for me.” I said as I blushed.
“Yes I do. You're the mare of my dream and I want our date to be wonderful.” He said as he took my hoof and walked me over to my seat. I took the seat and looked around the balcony.
“Soarin this so romantic of you to do this.” I looked at him and smiled.
“It’s my pleasure, Rainbow.” He said as he walked over to his seat. We looked over the menu and it had a variety of things to choose from such as; Garlic Bread, Salads, and some Hay sandwiches.
“Are you two ready to order?” The waiter asked.
“You ready to order, Rainbow?” Soarin asked looking towards me and I nodded.
“I’ll have a salad with mozzarella cheese and croutons.” I said to the waiter and gestured to Soarin to place his order.
“And I’ll have a Hay sandwich with some fruit.” He said with a smile.
“ Would you like any champagne tonight?” Asked the waiter.
“Would you like some champagne, Rainbow?” Asked Soarin looking at me with a smile.
“Sure, let’s have some champagne for our first date together.” I said smiling.
The waiter walked away and brings back a bottle of champagne and water. He poured it for the both of us. “Thank you.” We both said in unison. I take my glass and hold it up for a toast. “A toast for our first date together and a dream come true for the both of us.” I said and held up my glass.
“Indeed.” He said as our glasses hit each other with a low cling sound. We both took sip and it tasted wonderful. We set down our glasses and begin to chat about our next performance in Maretonia. “So, Rainbow are you ready for our performance in Maretonia in a few weeks?” Soarin asked with a slight grin.
“You bet I’m ready for it.” I said with a smile on my face. “The Maretonia crowd will be amazed at our routine and with the finale of my signature, sonic rainboom.”
“I’m sure that they will love this performance as well. I just can’t wait to get out there and perform with this great team.” He said taking my hoof. “I also can’t wait to fly with my mare at my side as we do our routines.” I blushed and leaned in for a kiss. As our lips met I can taste the champagne and he leaned in closer. Both of us in complete bliss as we enjoyed our first kiss. I pulled away and we both blushed.
We continued to talk more about our plans for this weekend. “So, what are your plans for our weekend together?” I asked with a look of curiosity.
“Honestly, I just want to hang out with you and stay in bed with you or fly together.” Soarin said with a smile. “I don’t really have anything big planned, but this dinner we are having right now.”
“Well in that case, do you want to hang out at my place after dinner?” I asked with a smile.
“Sure, that sounds like a good idea.” He said looking at me and smiling.
A few minutes later our waiter came over with our food. He set them down and said, “Enjoy your meal.”
“Thank you.” We both said in unison and looked towards each other and smiled. We dug in. After we had finished eating Soarin paid the the bill and we flew off to my place for the rest of the night. I smiled as we flew to my cloud home in Ponyville. When we arrived, I opened the door and was greeted by Tank. “Come on in, Soarin.” I said signaling him to walk on in. “Please make yourself at home. Would you like some apple cider?”
“Sure, thanks Rainbow.” He said smiling and taking the mug from my hoof. He took a sip of the cider, and asked, “Is this from Applejack’s farm?”
“Of course, no where else has the best apple cider other than Sweet Apple Acres.” I said pointing at the small barrel I had in my cupboard. “Applejack makes me a barrel every year when it's apple bucking season. And in return I help her with anything she needs help with.” I said with a grin as I took a sip from my mug.
“Wow, so you work to get this cider every year.” He said with amazement.
“Yup, I made that promise when I first tried it the first year I moved here to Ponyville. I’ve been doing it for about five years now.” I said with slight grin.
Soarin looked at me wide eyed. “You really love this cider. I have to admit this is better than that champagne that we had at the restaurant.” I smiled. “Well, what shall we do now?”
I put my hoof under my chin in thought, “I don’t know.”I began to blush because of a thought that came up in my head. Do you want to cuddle?
I came out of my thoughts when, Soarin asked “Why you blushing, Rainbow?”
My blush became a darker shade of red as I asked him, “Do you want to cuddle for a bit?”Soarin and I both blushed. He took my hoof and he brought me over to my cloud couch. But, I tugged on him and brought him over to my bed instead. We make it over to my bed and I jump onto it and wave for Soarin to come on in. He blushes and walks in, he too jumps onto my bed. We lay there looking up into the ceiling. I scoot over closer to him as he does the same. I look to him and smile, “You know, this was sweet of you to take me out to dinner tonight and I thank you for that.”
Soarin smiled back, “It was my pleasure, Rainbow.” He put a hoof around my neck and I scoot over closer to him and nuzzle up to him. His warm fur touching mine was very relaxing. I felt as if I was in heaven.
I look over to the sky blue pegasus and say, “I love you, Soarin.”
“I love you too, Rainbow. Umm… you wouldn’t mind if I stayed here for the night?” He asked with a slight blush coming up to his cheeks. “I mean, if you're busy tomorrow, I’ll just go.” He began to get up.
“No, please don’t leave Soarin.” I say pulling on his hoof, “Please stay with me. I want to cuddle with you. Your coat is so soft.” I blush as he comes back to the bed and wraps me in his wings around me. I lean in and kiss him, and I can taste the sweet Apple cider in his mouth. He breaks the kiss and smiles with a blush. He pulls me closer to him and I fall asleep in his wing embrace.
The Next Day- Soarin’s perspective
When I woke up the next day. I wake up to see Rainbow Dash nuzzled up on me and I smiled at the sight. I should get up and make her some breakfast. I thought to myself and got out of Rainbow’s bed slowly. I begin to walk out to the kitchen when I hear, “Soarin, where are you going?” Asked Rainbow in a raspy voice.
“Oh… um… I’m going out to the kitchen to make you some breakfast.” I say as I walk out the bedroom to the kitchen.
“Oh, ok.” She says and yawns and falls back to sleep. I smile and flutter over to the kitchen. I go begin to look through Rainbow’s cupboards to see what I can make. “Let’s see, I can make pancakes or waffles. Yeah, that’s all she has anyways.” I say to myself and take out a pan from the oven. I then pull out some dough and strawberries from the refrigerator. I then pull out a rolling pin and a mat. I place the mat on the counter and put the dough on the mat and begin to flatten it. I then chop up some of the strawberries and put them in the dough. I then put the dough on the pan and put it in the oven. I set the timer for fifteen minutes. I go back to check on Rainbow, whom is still sound asleep. I smile and close the door slowly. I walk back to the kitchen and the pancakes are finished. I open the oven and the pancakes are a perfect golden brown. I pull them out and set them onto two plates.I then pour some maple syrup on the four pancakes. Two for me and two for Rainbow. I then took them and flew over to Rainbow’s room and found her to be sitting up waiting for me.
“Thanks for making breakfast, Soarin.” She said with a smile and rubs her eyes.
I smiled back, “It’s the least I could do to say thanks for letting me stay for the night.” I set a plate in front of her and I sit next to her. I cut a piece off of her pancakes and feed it to her. She blushes and takes the piece. She does the same with mine and we both savoir the strawberry pancakes with maple syrup. We continue to repeated the same thing until we were both finished and she took me into an embrace.
“I love you, Soarin.” She said as she nuzzled up to me.
I smiled, “I love you too, Rainbow.” I pulled her closer to me and asked, “Well, what do you want to do today?” I break the embrace.
She shrugged, “I don’t know.” She put her hoof up to her chin in thought. “Oh, I know. Let’s go for a little fly around town.”
“Alright, that sounds good to me.” I said with excitement. I got up from the bed and walked out to the living room with Rainbow right behind me. We trotted over to the couch and sit next to each other. Rainbow scoots closer to me and leans against me. I wrap her in a wing and kiss her in the forehead. She smiles and pulls me down for a kiss. Our lips make contact and I can taste the sweet syrup from our bed breakfast. I pull her deeper into the kiss.
When we broke I said, “Oh, Rainbow you’re the most beautiful mare in all of Equestria.” She blushed, “And I love you so much.”
“Ah, Soarin that sweet of you to say that.” She smiled and sat up. “So, what’s going to be our route for our little fly?”
I look to her and say, “I don’t know. How about we fly from here to Sugarcube Corner, then to Twilight’s castle, then to Fluttershy’s cottage, then we fly over Sweet Apple Acres, then back here.” I smile looking at Rainbow. “So, what do you think of that?”
She smiles and gets up, “Let’s go for that fly!” I get up and she passes me an extra pair of flight goggles. We walk out to the edge of the cloud home. I smile at Rainbow and she smiles back. She jumps off the cloud and dive bombs to the ground. I quickly follow and join her, we begin to glide next to each other to Sugarcube Corner. Finally, some time that I can spend with the mare I love. I thought to myself as we reached the bakery. She then shoots back up into the sky and hovers for a bit. I follow her and hover next to her. I smile and we begin to glide to Twilight’s castle. “Boy, it feels great to fly right now.” She said while doing a flip then a corkscrew.
“You said it, Rainbow. It’s even better because I get to do it with my very special somepony.” I said and smirked nudging her. She blushed and nudged me back.
“Don’t think that I’m not as competitive as before.”She punched my shoulder, “I’m only sappy because I really love you and I’m showing the really me to you. To tell you the truth, I loved it when you stayed for the night.” She blushed. I look at her with a surprised look.
“So, you’re really a pony that loves to cuddle?” I asked and smiled. She nodded.
We flew over the Twilight’s castle and waved to her through a window. She waved back looking up from one of her books. We flew past the castle and headed for Fluttershy’s cottage. As we flew over we could see her tending to her animals and looked up and waved to us. We wave back and fly over Sweet Apple Acres and we see the Apple family doing their harvesting for the upcoming Spring. Rainbow then flies down to one of the apple trees and rest on it. I’m hovering over the tree that Rainbow is in in and I look over and see that Applejack is moving her way to the that Rainbow was in. I waited to see what would happen. Applejack then bucked the tree and out fell Rainbow along with a dozen apples. I laughed at the sight of Rainbow falling out of that tree.
“Rainbow, what in tarnation were you doing in that tree!?” Asked the orange earth pony.
“Oh, hey AJ,” Rainbow ran her hoof through her mane in embarrassment, “I was just taking a little break from a little fly with Soarin.”
“Where is he then?” Asked Applejack. I then flew down from the sky and landed next to Rainbow.
“Hello, Applejack,” I said with a smile looking at the orange mare. I then turn around to help Rainbow up.
“What are yall doing here?” She asked looking at the two of us.
“We were just going for a little fly around town,” I said and looked at Rainbow.
“You’ve never really been around here that much. Why you here anyway?” She asked. I blushed and look towards Rainbow.
“Should I tell her?” I whispered in Rainbow’s ear.
“Go ahead,” She began to blush.
“I’m here because…” I gulped, “Rainbow is my marefriend and I spent the night after our dinner out.”
“Rainbow, why’d ya not tell us that you're going out with a Wonderbolt?!” Rainbow blushed.
“I kept it a secret from you guys. I already had a crush on him and when I found out he liked me back. We just completely fell for each other. I love him so much!” She hugged me and I blushed. I then nodded in agreement with what Dash said.
“Alright you two I’ll see yall later.” Applejack said and walked away.
I look towards Rainbow, “You didn’t tell your friends about me or your crush on me,”She shook her head, “Well for me Spitfire knew that I had a crush on you since you first came to the academy,” Rainbow blushed. “Well, shall we continue to fly?” I asked hovering over her. She nodded.
“Please just a slow fly,”she said putting a hoof up, “I want to just cruise around with you at my side.” I smiled and we began to fly back home. When we reached the cloud home the sun was beginning to set. Rainbow sat in front of her door looking out towards the setting sun and the scenery. I sat next to her and put a wing over her back. She leaned against my body as I wrapped the wing around her. I smiled and gave her a full wing embrace. She looked up to me, “I love you so much Soarin.”
I smiled and pulled her closer to me, “ I love you too, Rainbow.”
“Soarin,”I break our embrace to look at her.
“Yeah, Rainbow?”
“Thanks for the weekend and spending time with me.”
“No problem. What’s a coltfriend for?” I smiled and she nuzzled up on me. We watched as the sun began set below the horizon. We look towards each other and begin to blush. I lift her chin and look into her beautiful magenta eyes. Oh my Celestia you're so gorgeous. I smiled and she leans in for a kiss. Our lips make contact and we wrap each other in our wings. The kiss felt as if we were both suspended in time, and both of us in complete bliss with one another in an embrace. I loved every minute of that kiss. As we broke we both blushed and looked to the sun and Rainbow leaned up on me. When the sun completely set I got up and took Rainbow inside. “You know, Rainbow. When we get another chance we should go out again,” I said walking my mare into the house.
“Yes. Yes, we do,” She said with a smile.
“It’s settled then we will go out whenever we are both have free time,” I smiled.
Rainbow yawned, “Thanks for everything, Soarin.”
“No problem, Rainbow,” She hugged me and I gave her a kiss to the cheek. She blushes and walks to her room. “See you later, Rainbow,” I waved to her as I walked out of the house. I’m so glad I got to spend the weekend with Rainbow. I thought to myself as I flew back to Canterlot. We are going to have the best of time being together. I reach my home and walk in, then I go straight to the bathroom to take a shower. I then think about the past weekend and I head off to bed.
