The Rise and Fall of Nightmare Moon

It all started before the rule of Celestia and Luna.

Before they came to Equestria, they were in a majestic place beyond Equestria called "Valla".

Valla was like Cloudsdale, only it was more beautiful, it was a large cloud-like island where there were vast structures similar to Ancient Rome in our world.

Every day, warrior ponies in Valla would compete in a competition of strength, skills, agility, and speed, in a contest called the "Hero's Tournament", and the winners would be dubbed this year's "Hero of Valla".

But we're not focused on that right now. Our story begins with the prince and princess of Valla, a married couple, both alicorns.

The husband was named "Prince Orion", he had a white coat with a golden mane and tail, and a golden short beard. He also wore a tall diamond-encrusted crown. His eyes were also the color of diamonds. His cutie mark was a yellow silhouette of an eagle.

The wife was named "Princess Alouette", a beautiful mare. She had a pink coat with a long fire-colored mane and tail, and the mane and tail were both filled with white sparkles like stars. She wore a golden crown taller than what we know as Celestia's crown, and it's the same height as Prince Orion's crown. She also had golden eye pupils. Her cutie mark was a blue silhouette of a skylark.

Prince Orion and Princess Alouette also had a first-born daughter. She was only a filly, with a flowing multicolored mane and tail, a white coat, and a cutie mark shaped like the sun. Her name was Princess Celestia.

Then one day, Princess Alouette and Prince Orion made an announcement to all of Valla, where they had some shocking news.

Princess Alouette spoke "My dearest subjects, for a long time, at least one thousand years, we have ruled the peaceful lands of Valla, and one of our researchers discovered a land without a ruler: Equestria. But we know that we cannot rule this land and that land. That's why my husband and I had a daughter, Princess Celestia. However, we now know that-"

"Uh honey" Prince Orion whispered to his wife "we need to wrap this up".

"I'm getting to it, dear" Princess Alouette said.

So Princess Alouette resumed to speak to her subjects "As I was saying, we now know that Celestia will not be able to rule Equestria on her own, not only because she's not ready yet, but she'll need some-pony to stand by her side when she rules that land. Which is why I have an announcement."

Princess Orion and Princess Alouette both paused.

Then finally, the two of them said "we're having another baby."

Then the crowd cheered.

Celestia was in the crowd.

"Oh boy" Celestia said "So I'm gonna have a sister!?"

Then, many months have passed by, and Princess Celestia was being taken care of by her foalsitter, Catrina.

Catrina is a humanoid cat-like female. She was kind and compassionate. She always loved to play with Celestia.

One day, Prince Orion and Princess Alouette came out of a hospital, levitating a basket in front of them so they can see what was inside, and it made them smile.

Meanwhile, there were strange looking creatures that resembled the Diamond Dogs. Could they be the Diamond Dogs' ancestors? Who knows.

They told each other "that must be the new baby"

"New baby means more orders"

"More orders means more trouble for us"

"We haves to take her away!"

"Raise her as our own!"

"Make her forget that she's a princess!"

So the strange creatures came, disguised in badly knitted pony costumes.

The  disguised creatures said "we are foalsitters. We can look after new baby for you."

"We take good care of it."

"We won't let nothin' bad happen to baby."

However, Prince Orion and Princess Alouette were not please with what they heard.

Prince Orion spoke to them "we sense evil in your hearts. We know that you have bad intentions for our daughter."

"Yes" Princess Alouette said "we won't let you get your claws on our foal, Diamond Dogs!"

The diamond dogs of the past took off their disguises and said "You saw through our disguises!"

"We take baby by force!"

So Princess Alouette levitated the basket towards her husband, saying "go, take our daughter, I'll hold them off."

So Prince Orion ran off with the crying infant inside the basket, and Princess Alouette fought the Diamond Dogs of the Past bravely.

Prince Orion went behind a side, and she looked at his crying daughter.

The prince shushed her daughter and comforted her, saying "it's alright, little one, don't cry."

Then the infant inside the basket stopped crying as her father was slowly rocking her basket and comforting her.

Then, Prince Orion came home, levitating the basket.

"Your majesty" Catrina said as she bowed down "You came back. How was your trip?"

"It was pleasant" Prince Orion said. "Celestia, your new sister was born today. She's in the basket."

"Daddy!" Celestia said. "Where's mommy?"

"She'll join us shortly" Prince Orion said. "Meanwhile, I'd like to meet your new sister."

So Celestia and Catrina looked inside the basket, where they saw a filly with a dark-blue coat, blue eyes, and a lighter-blue mane similar to how she appeared in the Season 1 finale.

"Her name is Princess Luna" Prince Orion said. "She's eight years younger than you."

"She looks like an angel" Catrina said.

"Luna" Celestia said.

Celestia reached her hoof out in Luna's face, and baby Luna laughed.
