Note: reading the previous books is mandatory for comprehension.

Starry Night attempts to break the light-speed barrier, failing at every turn. But the more he thinks about his mission, the more he realises that he would never succeed alone.

He is eventually convinced that the situation is not particularly urgent; the Nightmare is still too weak to escape for a long time, and the Elements of Harmony have been rendered ageless by the magic of the tree where they now reside.

So he forms E.S.A. (Equestrian Space Administration) to nurture a development in space technology. With his help and knowledge, technology surges forward.

And for the first time in millennia, Luna removes the stars that once covered Equus, revealing to all the true nature of space.

The first ponies land on Luna's moon.

But just before the mission is launched to intercept the old moon, now called Selene, the Nightmare vanishes, escaping to a distant star.

FTL travel now the only feasible option, he returns to work, relying on both scientists and mages to find a solution.

And the chase is on.

But they are not alone.
