Chapters “Button, open the door please,” Applebloom begged.
“N-No, i’m doing what I have to,” Button responded.
“B-Button open the door,” A white unicorn said, her voice trembling, worried about what is doing. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks, her eyes turning to pin-points.
“APPLEBLOOM, BUCK THIS DOOR DOWN NOW!” she yelled at her friend. “If that is what it takes,” Applebloom said as she bucked the door down, splitting it in two.
“OH CELESTIA, BUTTON!” Sweetie yelled in shock.
*Earlier that day*
“So how was your summer Button?” Sweetie asked.
“Good, yours?” Button asked.
“Good, spent a lot of time working with Rarity, you know, learning her trade,” she said, as the trotted into their homeroom.
They looked and saw that they were sitting at the same table. “Yes!” Button said giving his friend a hoof-bump.
“Celestia help me,”Sweetie said seeing First Base’s name at there table.
They sat down as First Base sat down. “Well, pleasure seeing you two here,” He said smirking.
“Well screw you too,” Button said to the Prince of Friendship.
He seem to think his title made him untouchable. BY. ANYPONY. INCLUDING CELESTIA.
“So, Button what other classes do you have?” Sweetie asked him, trying to change the topic.
“I have Music next,” Button replied. “Cool, me too,” she squeaked. That was adorable Button though.
Later in music, Button sat down next to Sweetie. “So what are we learning this year?” Button asked. “I think we are learning about the art of music itself,” she responded.
Well that sounds like a good idea, there is a lot of songs that we can learn. The music teacher, Octavia started talking about their project as the bell rang. “Blast, I guess we will need to continue this tomorrow,” Octavia said as the class troted out.
In the hallway Sweetie and Button where walking to class. First Base came in and intercepted the two “Hello you two,” he said.
“Go away Base,” Button said groning.
“What, I am just having a normal conversation,” he responded.
“Yes, that will escalate to you telling us we suck for X reason,” Sweetie responded.
“Fine you know the shtick, so let's just jump to the summary. I was going to call you, and your friends,” he said pointing at Sweetie “huge idiots for hanging around the slowest retard in this school,” First Base said.
Button was stunned upon realizing who Base was talking about. The words cut through him like a knife. He troted to class slowly, his ears flopping down. Tears forming in his eyes. Sweetie ran up to him.
“Button, don’t tell me you bought all of that,” she said. He forced a smile on his face.
“N-No way Sweetie”
As they got on the train, to go home, Button, Pip, Rumble, his marefriend Scootaloo, Sweetie, Applebloom, and Diamond Tiara. “Is something wrong with Button?” Pip asked.
“Pip, that's rude, yall know he might of just had a hard day, or Base has been giving him a hard time,” Applebloom said as the group collectively groaned at the mentioning of his name.
“That kid needs to be knocked down a peg, speaking with experience,” Dimond said.
“He, said Scoots will always be a flightless chicken, I punched him in the face, that's how I got a detention that day," Rumble said, with Scootaloo cuddling up closer to him.
“I mean it was worth it, as you can see,” Rumble said putting his arm around Scootaloo, and nuzzled her, causing her to blush.
“You two are so cute together,” Diamond cooed, causing Scootaloo to blush more and bury her face in Rumble’s neck.
“So, what are your plans for nightmare night,” Scootaloo asked.
“I say we get together and watch horror movies,” Applebloom suggested.
“I don’t like horror,” Sweetie complained.
“Will ya just relax, we all will be there too, ah don’t think that I can watch them on my own too,” Applebloom said.
After school Button, Pip, Scootaloo, Rumble, Sweetie, and Applebloom, where hanging out at Sweet Apple Acres. “So, what happened with Base?” Pip asked.
“Well he called me a slow retard, so you are the only group of people that know, so who told him?" Button asked, with a small amount of rage in his voice. There was a large amount of silence, “Oh so it was nopony, yes and Base has the freaking shining, ha like I believe that,” he said.
Silence, Button felt defeated. The others started talking, Button troted to the kitchen, found a steak knife, and sneaked up to the bathroom and locked the door, and picked the knife up in his mouth.
“Where is Button?” Sweetie asked Applebloom.
“He said he needed to go to the bathroom,” she responded toting to the kitchen.
“That’s odd, one of my knives are missing,” she said.
“Look, I have known Button longer than all of you, he is fine,” Rumble said.
“Nopony brought up that he might be hurt,Rumble, why do you bring that up?” Sweetie asked. Her eyes widened. She said nothing and galloped up the stairs full speed, as Applebloom followed behind. They got to the bathroom and saw that the door was locked.
“Button, open the door please, ” Applebloom beeged.
“N-No, i’m doing what I have to,” Button responded.

“OH CELESTIA, BUTTON!” Sweetie yelled in shock. She and Applebloom where in total shock, upon seeing the colt. He had a blood-stained knife in his mouth. His eyes were bloodshot, and puffy, his fur patted down by tears, is that blood, oh crap. They saw his forelegs and were stunned. They say scars going up his leg, and lower down closer to his hoof, several deep, bleeding cuts.
He passed out, right, he was unconscious, not dead, right? Sweetie’s mind was racing with thought of a worse case scenario. I’m sorry, what did he mean. She was going through a crap ton of emotions, sadness, rage, confusion. Base, he did this to him, this was his fault. “Button, no, Button wake up, please Button,” She begged sobbing, no response.
“Sweetie are you ok?” Scootaloo asked. Sweetie gave her a look that said, what do you think. “Look, I hate the fact that he did this as-”
“HE DID THIS-” Sweetie shouted “WHAT IN TARTARUS DO YOU MEAN HE DID THIS, WE ALL KNOW THIS IS BASE’S FAULT!” Sweetie raged out at her friend. She was mad, for obvious reasons.
“Look, he was my friend as well, you know that, and what Base did was bad, yes, but freaking out will not help Button, you should stay calm and try and help,” Scootaloo said. She walked over to Button as started pressing on the cut. “I have wiped out several times on my scooter, and putting pressure on the wound will help the blood clot, so help me out here, for his sake,” She said, her voice getting emotional at the end. Sweetie walked over and used her magic to tighten the make-shift bandages.
“BUTTON NO!” A mare shouted, Rumble had came back with Love Tap and Nurse Redheart. Sweetie let Button go, still keeping hold on the bandages with her magic, as the cream mare hugged her son, sobbing.
Sweetie looked at Nurse Redfield “You can help him right?” She asked.
“I don’t know, I wish I did, but in the medical world, you just can’t make promises like these, we will do what we can to save your friend,” Redfield said.
“I understand,” You will save him, work to save him like your life depends on it. As he was being loaded onto a stretcher. She looked over the room, and saw something, his bennie. She took it with his magic, and saw a folded piece of paper under where it was. Dear Sweetie it read, she unfolded it. If you are reading this, then I probaly be dead, if that is the outcome, then I want you to know, I have loved you since 6th grade, you are beautiful, a good singer, and all around a lovely pony. I just wish I was good enough, Base had confirmed for me that I am not.
“He loved me, if I got to him, this might not have happened, it’s my fault,” she whispered to herself. She was starting to think back to when they first met.
Five years ago
Sweetie and her friends had just got their cutie marks, hers was a red, pink, and violet shield, with a star and a quarter note inside the shield. They were at Sugarcube Corner,and celebrating, as a brown colt walked up to Sweetie, “Uh, hi,” he said.
“Hi, how is it going?” Sweetie asked.
“Good, what's your name?” he asked.
“My name is Sweetie Bell, yours?” she asked.
“Button Mash, how is it going Sweetie Bell?” he asked in response.
“Good, you?”
“Good, look, I-I don’t want to be rude, but do you want to play Minecraft later?” he asked
He is nice, and he likes Minecraft “Heck yes, I love that game,” She responded
“Ok, so we meet up here at say-” he looked at the clock, 1:00, “- five, bring your laptop, we can play LAN,” he said.
“Sounds like a plan,” she said.
Now
That was how they met, and now, he could wind up dead, she looked and saw his blood patting down her fur. I will just say that Applebloom scraped herself. She started her trot home after saying goodbye to Applebloom, Pip, Rumble, who was hugging a shaking Scootaloo, she obviously was harshly affected by this… this tragedy. She closed the door, as she got back to Ponyville. She got back to Carousel Boutique. “Sweetie darling, why is there blood on your fur, did you get hurt,” Rarity said in a form of panic.
No, just a colt that I consider one of my best friends could of killed himself and possibly died in my arms. “No, Applebloom just scraped herself, and me and Scootaloo got her cleaned up,” she replied calmly. She troted up the stairs to wash the blood off herself. Why, why Button, why did it have to be him. Latter she snuck out of her room, and met up with Applebloom, Rumble, Pip, and Scootaloo. “So we are going to the hospital to see Button,” Sweetie asked.
“Yep,” Rumble said, as they started trotting to the hospital. When they got there, they troted to the desk.
“We are here to see Button Mash, and possibly get an update on his condition,” Sweetie said.
“What is your relation to the patient?” The receptionist asked.
“We are some of his closest mates,” Pip responded.
“Ok, we can show you to his room,” The receptionist responded.
They troted to his hospital room, upon entering his room, a wave of silence has fell on the group. His cuts were stitched up, and he had a blood transfusion in his forearm. He was definitely breathing right now. “He is unconscious now, we are doing what we can, but at this point, we can’t be positive if he will live or die, it is honestly 50-50 right now,” Nurse Redfield said.
“Look, we are going to go, you coming Sweetie?” Applebloom asked.
“You guys go ahead, I am going to stay back for a bit,” Sweetie responded.
“Allright,” Rumble responded.
After they left, Sweetie used her magic to pull up a chair. She sat down next to Button’s bed, and started sobbing. “B-Button, I know you can’t hear me, but I-I want you to wake up. I read your note, I want to tell you that I consider you my best friend. P-Please wake up,” she fell, her forehead rested on his hoof, sobbing.
Sweetie worked fast, She took Button’s knife. Found a towel. Used the knife to cut the towel. She quickly took towel pieces and wrapped them around Button’s cuts. They were still bleeding. “Applebloom, get Rumble, tell him to fly back to Ponyville as fast as he can, get Love Tap, and Nurse Redfield as fast as he can,” Sweetie told Applebloom.
Applebloom galloped down the stairs. “Rumble, Button is in the bathroom, he had cut himself, BAD, fly back to ponyville as fast as you can, get Love Tap and Nurse Redfield, get them back here as fast as you can. Me and Sweetie are trying to stop the bleeding to no success, GO,” she shouted.
Rumble galoped out the hose, as he started to flap his wings. He took off flying full speed. Why Button, why did this happen to him. He started thinking about a time Pip, Button, and him were hanging out at the end of the school year.
“How is Rumble the first one of us to get a mare-friend, like what does that tell us about our social standing?” Button asked laughing, as the rest cracked up. They were trotting to the store to get some chips, they were going to just hang out, play pon-box. After they got the chips, they were playing the Mortal Colt-bat. Button was playing as Jade as he pulled off the X-Ray as the group of colts cringed, as the x-ray was pulled off. “That was brutal,” Rumble said.
“Alright, who wants to fight the master?” Button asked.
“Challenge accepted,” Rumble said, picking Freddy. As the match started, Button, playing as Johnny Colt, was getting slashed up by Freddy’s clawed hoof. He used his teleport move, jumping behind Johnny, stabbing him in the back, as Shao Kahn’s roar was heard.
“Finish Him!” He shouted. The tune sounded as Freddy jumped behind him, stabbing Jonny with his claw. Dragging him into a volcano, as the thing erupted blood shot out.
“Yes!” Rumble shouted. Button was stunned, his mouth gaping.
“That was awesome,” Button said, he was beat. Pip went up, as Button gave him the controller.
*Button’s POV at Sweet Apple Acres*
I was not focusing at all, I was bleeding out, how could I. I felt Sweetie hug me, I could feel that she was sobbing. I did not feel a cutting pain, just guilt, overwhelming guilt. My eyelids felt heavy. “B-Button, don't go-” Sweetie said sobbing “- please don't go Button, don't fall asleep,”
How could I do this to her, to them. I could only think of saying one thing. “S-Sweetie, I-I’m sorry,” I said as everything went dark.
