Of Seized Shadows and Light

Four Minutes after Nightmare Moon was eaten by the vortex...

The seven ponies had finished gawking at what happened before their very eyes. To see Nightmare Moon be eaten by a mysterious vortex was something they would have never expected, they would have thought they would have freed the soul that was trapped within Nightmare Moon's body. It almost seemed as if it were a defeat to the six ponies for they did not fulfill their task of liberating that soul.

The seventh pony, the sister of Nightmare Moon, Princess Celestia of Equestria held her sister dear to her heat. She had hoped that the six ponies she had employed were able to free her sister from her previous form. This was truly a defeat for her, her sister had fled before she could convert her to her light. She would not be reunited with her sister for a long time, if not, ever again. This idea burned in her mind with a flame that was greater that nopony else could comprehend. To be so close to reunite with her sister and let her slip under her hooves. Her eye became clogged with tears of hatred, anger, despair, and most of all sadness.  She tried her best to mitigate these tears and refrained from showing her subjects that this was a more important matter than what they showed. She tried and tried, but she eventually couldn't hold her self out and she finally broke out into the tears and fell to the ground for she could not bear this pain upon herself anymore.

In reaction to this the six other ponies, Twilight Sparkle (the purple one), Fluttershy (the yellow one), Applejack (the ugly orange coat one), Rarity (the other white colored one), Pinkie Pie (the pink one) and Rainbow Dash (the light blue one) quickly turned their heads to the sound of their Princess weeping. Of course Twilight was the first one to rush over to the aid of Princess Celestia.

She ran over towards Celestia and said "Princess Celestia!" and then stopped at her and crouched down to her level "Princess Celestia- Whats' wrong?" Twilight's voice was soft in tone and clearly stated that Twilight was worried for her.

"Sh- sh- she escaped, she came under my hooves and escaped," she could not control herself crying. Her voice was broken, muffled for she spoke too quickly.

"Everything will be fine your majesty," as Twilight said this she assumed a resting position next to Princess Celestia and placed her hoof around the bottom of her neck and began to stroke her mane. This was fairly awkward for her Princess Celestia was almost twice the size of Twilight but it did not matter. Princess Celestia needed all of the comfort. While this was happening, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity all approached to the vicinity of the two but stood at a distance for this was something quite personal. It also appeared that Twilight was comforting her and that if all of them came the Princess Celestia would become overwhelmed at how many ponies there are around her.

During the time Twilight was comforting Celestia. Celestia eventually steadied herself and eased herself from the fact that her sister got away. But it still lingered in her head, it was a fact that she wouldn't be able to swallow for a long time. She eventually rested her head on the temperate floor and soaked herself in her day. She needed some rest that was for sure, she felt fatigued and wanted to take a nap. But something in herself did not allow her to. Celestia after laying down in silence for a moment rose her head up and turned her head towards her most studious student ever, Twilight Sparkle and gave a smile towards. "Thank you-- for comforting me."

Twilight looked at her and gave her a slight smile but quickly changed into a questioning face, "Princess?"

"What is Twilight?"

"Why does this matter to you so much?" Her face gave a clear meaning that she wanted to look into this.

Celestia turned her towards the sun and gave a slight sigh and turned back towards her subjects and rose up. "She was... My Sister. I know it seems impossible. But it was my fault. A thousand years ago, I had most of the ruling power over Equestria and my little sister, Luna --That was her name. Luna had grown jealous over how much power I had and demanded that we both have equal power for we both raise something that ponies loved and rejoiced. The sun and the moon. I had turned her down and she grew more and more angry with me and eventually transformed into Nightmare Moon. We waged battle and I remember one very specific moment. It was after Nightmare Moon shot me with a beam of magic that took me out of the air. I had fallen through the castle roof and collapsed to the ground and I was knocked out, or so I thought. I was actually conscious now that I think of it but I felt a cold wind upon my back. It sent shivers down my spine as I felt it go through it. I finally raised from the state I was in and I had decided that it was necessary to use the Elements of Harmony against my own sister who had succumbed to the forces of darkness. We continued to fight until I had played my last card, the Elements. We then had a magic duel and I won. I thought it would be best to banish her to the moon for one thousand years where she would learn from her actions. But it is clear that she did not and now has sworn vengeance on this world."

Twilight Sparkle stood there in what could be described as sympathy, awe, and horror all at the same time, "I'm sorry your majesty, we did not mean to hurt-"

"It doesn't matter now, what matters most is that you did well in reclaiming the Elements of Harmony. Now you know it's true power and what it is capable of. But I feel my sister will not go down without a fight and it will be much harder than previously. The Elements of Harmony choose who wears their powers and to be chosen for the Elements is a great honor."

"Princess, I'm only a bookworm."

"I'm just a farm gal," spoke Applejack.

"I must say these pendants are quite fashionable If I do say so myself," said Rarity.

"I'm only like animals, not fighting," spoke Fluttershy in a obviously shy voice.

"Weeeeeee~ I can't wait, I'm super excited!" Exclaimed Pinkie Pie.

"I cant wait to kick some flank!" Shouted Rainbowdash in an ecstatic tone.

"Well you can be at least humble darling." Muffled Rarity.

Celestia gave a small smile to the excitement of the ponies. "And you Twilight, I want you to lead your friends to take back my sister from the darkness. Can you promise me this-- and I will actually help you this time."

"You can count on us your Majesty!" She gave a smile to Celestia.

"First things first though, get situated into Ponyville. Meet the residents and know the locals, it is always good to know your way around." After Princess Celestia said this the ponies then began their ways back home towards Ponyville. As soon as they dissapeared from her sight Celestia turned her head towards the platform where blue dust remained  and a single dagger remained. She walked towards the platform and conjured a vial and placed the blue dust into the vial and levitated the old dagger in front of herself and spoke, "Let see who is really pulling the strings of my sister." Celectia then teleported in an instant and left the massive hall empty with nothing even inside of it only the cold stone, some vines, and the rubble of ancient past.
