Blessing The Rain In Zebrica

A rainy day in Ponyville. "Great. That's just what I need: Another day of this Luna-damned rain!" I complained loudly in my head as I headed to the entrance of the Everfree Forest while I made an angry gesture to the same gray clouds that splashed my umbrella with what felt like a huge barrage of raindrops on the polyester protecting me. It's always on days like this make me wish that I didn't have to leave my home at all. Today's work was cancelled due to some problems against the weather.

While I was in my home, just a few hours after my morning rituals were finished, I had remembered that a certain medicinal remedy for my sleeplessness, during a lot of my nights, had run out. There wasn't even a single leaf of this medicine in sight. It's an herbal tea that I take before going to bed for the night, and it was more beneficial to me than anything else that I've ever tried for my insomnia. And even though I had nothing to do in my home today, I still tried to think of something to do. I looked at the falling rain from my window and grunted at it.

With a new resolve, after taking a moment to think about it, I decided to brave the storm to see if I could get to the pharmacy to pick up a new prescription. But when I got there, the door was hanging a sign that said 'Sorry, We're Closed.' It had set my mood way down. There was only one other place for me to go to. And it might have the stuff that I need. But as much as it scared me, I had no choice in the matter. Zecora might have what I want from her.

But as the rain kept making puddles that I stepped on along the way, I smelled a very horrid scent. The first clue that I was in the forest now. I kept on with my travels, staying on the safe road that led to where I intended to go. I had found the rain becoming less and less as I stepped forward.

As I unfolded the umbrella, I remembered what it was that always kept me from traversing the ground that I made my way on. The only thing that had actually scared me, more than the animals that stalked around quietly in the rain forest, was how my feelings for the Everfree Forest's resident witch doctor grew deeper than anything that I've ever felt. And it didn't even help my insomnia at all. Not one bit.

After moving from my family's home in Manehattan to settle down in my new home in Ponyville, while moving my stuff into the house three months ago, I wanted to see if I could make some new friends. But given that I was from a city where everyone was out to mug you in some way, I wasn't too trusting of the residents. But my skepticism fell over within a week of becoming a resident.

When I went to the pharmacy, just about two blocks from Sugar-Cube Corner, I was shopping for a remedy that could help me sleep during the Luna-blessed nights. But when I got there, there was a person who immediately caught my eye after entering the building. Her skin, as if I needed any other indication at all from the way that she was dressed, told me that she was from Zebrica. But when I saw her face.... sweet Celestia help me, that face! It spoke to me of an exotic beauty that piqued my interest.

She then spoke to me. "Can I help you, good sir? Your inquiry will be heard," she assured me. The thought that struck me, given that I was quite surprised by her speech pattern, was if she spoke like this on a regular basis.

"Oh! No-no-no! I-I'm sorry!" I shook my head after I was brought back to reality. "Uh, I-I-I w-was just.... uh.... l-looking f-f-for something to help me with.... m-m-my insomnia," I tried to say to her clearly. That part failed immensely. And, oh boy, I was feeling so embarrassed.

After a giggle came from her, she assured me that I was safe with my inquiry, even after she told me that she didn't work there. We shared a laugh about it for a moment before she and I got our needed products from the specific aisles that we went to. But what I truly loved from the time that I spent with her was that she was actually talking to me as if I was her best friend.

Now, don't get me wrong. During the chats, I shamefully looked at her whole body, despite that it was in a clothing that hid most of her figure from me. And as I made my mental notes of her likely measurements, she made a little giggle before saying: "Forgive me, but we've not been introduced. My name is Zecora. How do you do?"

My only reply was, "I'm David Jericho. It's a real pleasure to meet you, Zecora."

And to think that it has been three months since that day. And I always found the time for her, as her new best friend.

I had made it to the door of the hut just in time after my trek had been finished. I knocked three times before I heard the footsteps coming to the door. The door creaked slowly as a face peaked up from behind it.

"David Jericho? I did not expect that, to my door, you would show!" she greeted in the same pattern that I've come to like a lot.

"H-hey there, Zecora! I was wondering if, um.... you'd be willing to help me with something, please?" I asked her politely, trying to ignore the increased warmth on my face.

"Please, do come in. On my couch, we should sit," she suggested with her hand moving to the room that I never went into before. I thanked her before entering through the door. I place my umbrella near the door frame, while shaking off the collected water on the space just a bit outside of the house.

When I took my glance at the whole area, I was stunned. The decorations of her home country had made her feel right at home, while I had started to get a preview of what her country must have looked like in my minds image. "Wow! I never knew that you'd have such.... uh, deep roots," I commented as I made my way to her couch.

"Why, yes. The roots of my homeland, in my heart, grow deep. I take a look back, and I never weep," she replied to me as a set of teacups was placed on the coffee table. The scent of her freshly brewed drink had wafted to my nose, sending me to a sense of relaxation. She then placed herself just a small space away from me as we took the teacups in our hands and sipped our hot drinks.

"Mmm.... This is not bad at all, Zecora. What is it?" I asked her with a nod, noticing that the bitter taste was just enough to keep me drinking it after I set it on the table once again to let it cool off for a moment or two.

"Just some jasmine, and some chamomile. A perfect combination to go with a meal," she answered me with a smile."Oh, sweet Celestia, help me!" I screamed in my head. That smile of hers was enough to send my heart flying out of my chest.

I heard a small laugh from her, snapping me back to where I was. "W-w-what is it? Do I have something on my face?" I asked her while I touched my face to find out if there was something on me.

Her hand had then touched mine, causing a shiver to run up my back before I could relax a bit more. But I was still quite nervous around her, evident by how my face must have gotten redder. I was not expecting for her to move closer to me, thus causing me to feebly try to back away as my back tensed up to the cushion. "Oh, David... You need not to be in fear. Just say what's on your mind, and please, be clear," she assured me with a tone that got me to relax around her.

But even then, I saw the look that spoke of her curiosity. I then took a big breath and began to speak. "I really am sorry for my behavior around you, Zecora," I apologized to her with my eyes closed before I opened them to look at her again. "The truth is, when I was making my way over here, I was only hoping to ask you if you would be willing to share a few ingredients for a tea that can help get me to sleep during my nights, because of how I'm an insomniac. But now...."

"Yes?" she inquired with an arching of one of her eyes.

"Now that I am here, with you, on this couch of yours, I think that it's safe to say that I might just go crazy if I don't tell you what's really on my mind," I responded with my hands covering my eyes and forehead, hoping to the Sun Princess that I could hide my infatuation from the woman near me. One of her soft hands touches my leg, just a bit above my knee, as she looked at me with those inquisitive but caring eyes. I took a big breath into my lungs and exhaled slowly before I looked to her and finally answered her question with: "I have a crush on you, Zecora. There's no denying it any longer." My eyes were then half-lidded in my renewed sense of fear.

I expected her to flat out tell me to get out of her hut. I was also expecting her to tell me to stay away from her for good. It was how most of my relationships ended, back at Manehattan. And I was definitely expecting her to just throw some dangerous stuff at me. And I was just this close to jumping out from her space to run back home like a little sissy.

But in all the time that I've been around, I never would have expected... this moment to take a turn for the better. I felt a pair of lips kissing my cheek. I turned my head to her after they quickly parted from my face. "Z.... Zecora? W-wha---?"

A little bit of a laugh came from her mouth before she spoke. "Forgive me, but somehow I knew that your feelings for me had made you blue. And from the way that your eyes were staring at me, I figured out back then that you really like me." This was quite a bit of news, coming from her.

When I heard the phrase 'staring at me', I quickly shouted, "Aah! I-I-I-I-I'm so sorry, Zecora! I didn't mean to stare at you like that! Really! I-I--!"

Her fingers then stopped me from speaking anymore. "There now, just hush. I am glad that you told me of your crush. I can see that your head is in such a rush, from the way that your face is in a deep blush," she observed after calming me down. "Now you must tell me: what do you like, other than my body?" she asked once more, placing her palm on my cheek.

"Well.... it's not just your physical attributes, even though they certainly are beautiful to look at," I began to say to her. This causes her to give my cheek a rub as she giggled. "I feel happy that you just said that, but don't you think that I look fat?" she asked while pointing to her bust and hips.

"Not even close, but we're quite off topic," I replied to her, coming back to the case that I wanted to plead. "When we had our chats during the first day that we met," I started again, "I felt that you had a desire to take care for all those who were in need, even though I was quite surprised when you told me how you still follow the steps of being a witch doctor." I asked her silently if I could hold her hand for the duration of my confession. She intertwined her fingers with mine within a second. "And from that conversation, we had ourselves a few healthy quips. And I could feel the start of a brand new relationship," I continued before realizing that I just made a rhyme. I grunted out "D'oh!" in my embarrassment.

We laughed after a few seconds.

"We are great as friends, but I sense that you want more. Do you believe that I could be the girl that you're looking for?" she inquired with her lips curled up to the right side of her face. I only took her smile with another chuckle before I could answer her honestly.

"Zecora?" I looked to her with a more serious tone, preparing myself for the expected answer.

"Yes, David?" she quipped curiously. "*sigh* I would love nothing more than to just be your boyfriend, and for you to be my lovely girlfriend. If you do say yes to this, then I promise you this: I will never do anything to hurt you. For in my heart, I will only love you. And if you say no to this, then I'll promise you this: As good friends, I'll drop this subject. And you'll never have to hear about it again," I confessed and proposed simultaneously to her.

"I see that your time with me has picked up certain patterns," Zecora laughed. I blushed a bit before looking back at her. "But you are quite handsome, so I will pay it no matter." I sighed as she spoke those words. Her voice, though a bit deeper than most of the voices that I've heard from a woman, was all that I ever wanted to hear every day.

"So then, does this mean---?" I was about to ask before stopping myself from asking something really moot. A soft yet strong hug was then given to me by her arms, which wrapped around my shoulders.

"Yes, David. I would love to be your girlfriend, but only if you'll be my boyfriend," she whispered into my ear with her cheek touching mine. My hands then start to cup her shoulders to give them a gentle squeeze. The urge to kiss her right there on those lips of hers had started to rise, but I was able to fight it off. My common sense told me that it's wrong to just kiss someone that you only just confessed your desires of love to. And I'm glad that I had that much sense on my side.

I looked to her once again, my face getting less redder. "You just made me a happier guy, Zecora," I sighed to her happily. "But there is just one thing that I should've done before I got here."

"And what would that be? Is it some task that you dropped before you saw me?" Zecora wondered with a raised eyebrow.

"Eh, sort of," I shrugged to her. I wiped off whatever sweat was on my brow and sighed a bit before giving her my answer. "I forgot to bring a bucket and a sponge so that I could collect the sweat that I was pouring out during the whole time that I've been talking to you."

After I gave a small chuckle from how bad my joke was, it segued into a loud set of laughs from the both of us. The both of us had placed our backs to the cushion behind us as our hands had slapped our own knees or pounded on the seats because of how awful that joke was.

"Aaah-ha-haaah.... *sigh* Goodness, it's been too long since I laughed like this. I am happy that you still have your humor, but it needs a little work. Of that, I am sure," she spoke to me with that widened smile.

"I know. But I had to say it, because I really was working up a sweat," I told her honestly.

She then took her hands and gripped them on mine just a little tighter than before. "You are still so kind and understanding to me, Zecora. Even when I'm at my worst. What did I do to deserve such a great friend like you, Zecora?" I asked her breathlessly while I rubbed my thumb on her knuckles.

"That's a rhetorical question, from what I presume. But I think that I can humor you," she replied with a gentle squeeze on my hands before releasing one of them to rub it lightly on my chest. "As your heart beats, I can sense within you.... a love that is sweet, genuine, and true."

She then takes one of my hands and places it just above her breasts so that I don't risk groping them. She sighed: "Can you feel the heart that beats in me?" Oh, l felt it alright. The rhythm was actually going faster than I had believed. I nodded to her. "This heart of mine beats much faster, every time that we meet," she whispered again. This raises my blood pressure a little higher before I came to a revelation that sucker-punched me right then and there.

"Hey, wait a minute!" I lightly shouted to her as I gently removed my hand from her. "Do you mean to tell me that you've also been wanting us to be together, for as long as we've known each other?" I asked her incredulously.

She gave another giggle before she answered my impending question. "Why, yes. I have wanting this relationship to be given a new step."

After that, my heart had just stopped for about a beat or so. Zecora, the one woman in my life, with whom I have shared a lot of my life stories to, had confessed her desire to me right there. I still made it a point to not kiss her right after hearing her answer to me.

"Zecora?"

"Is there something that wish to say? I have the time, so I won't worry about your delay."

After standing back up to my feet, lifting her up alongside me, I took her into my arms and hugged her deeply. She hummed a bit, taking in the scent that emanated from my chest. I had only taken a small whiff of her perfume before I realized that I was delaying the question that she wanted the answer to. I pulled myself away to look deep into her light-blue eyes.

"May I, uh... t-that is.... may I kiss you, please?" I asked her in a whisper with a sheepish smile on my face. Zecora gave a little blush that was accompanied by a curled smile. "I, uh... I know that it's a little out of left field, but... I just... w-well...."

She giggled again before answering me seriously. "Yes, David. You may have a kiss. It is something that I just wouln't miss." I swallowed down my pride with a little lick on my lips. I was feeling like I was a teenager again; butterflies in my stomach and all that. But I knew not to rush into it. I took her cheek into my hand and slowly approached her face with mine. I closed my eyes for just a moment, taking in a last whiff of her perfume before I looked at her again. She had nodded to me once, silently saying to me that I was given her permission. And after a moment to catch a quick breath, our lips had met for the first time with a slow and steady smooch.

There was no sense of time between us as we kissed even more while embracing each other even tighter. The fireworks were exploding, the flowers were blooming in a much faster motion & the fire in my heart was burning in a higher degree.

Our breaths had taken more than a few moments to try to catch whatever could even be considered as oxygen, just right after our kisses had been made. "Ohh..... whew! That was just...." I was trying breathing out, trying my best to describe what I was feeling while waving my hands to my face. The lady in front of me was already fanning off some of the same unnatural heat from herself with the loose shirt that she had donned. The sweat from our bodies gave off a glow that showed us how hot we became.

"I must confess, my love, that your kiss was just the best, even under the sun," she said with her smile returning to me.

"You loved it just as much as I did, huh?" I asked with a curiosity that came up from out of nowhere. She gave out a hum that confirmed her strong liking of what had transpired between us. "Now: I have to say this, given that we are now an official couple," I began to speak after clearing my throat. She only looked at me silently with that loving smile. "I believe that we should have a date so that we can get to know each other a little better. How does tomorrow at lunchtime sound?" I proposed to her with a clap of my hands.

"Hmm.... a lunch date with you? I must confess: In the past, I've only had a few," she pondered for a moment with a hand on her chin.

"I'll be the one that pays the bill, of course," I added to the inquiry.

Zecora then walks over to me with a sly smile on her face and suggests, "Let's just have lunch here, today. I assure you that it will be great," with a hug that placed her arms around me from the side. I turned my head to look at her, and she had a grin that showed how serious she was. I kissed her lips once again.

"Now, how could I refuse such a tempting idea? Especially when it comes from the hottest woman that I know?" I grinned to her teasingly.

She giggled at my remark. "You must be really hungry, then. Let's find some food that will leave us fed," she said as she lifted her arms off of me.

"Great idea, babe. And I think that we should finish our now cold tea, while were at it," I noted to her, pointing to the isolated pair of cups on the table.

"Oh yes, I have forgotten about that. You made me forget them; you'll pay for that," she winked at me with a mischievous smile and gentle push on my chest.

I made a low growl to her as I remarked: "Mmmm... I certainly hope so. Now, let's have a bit of fun, shall we?" with a little nibble on her neck.

"Hold it, David. First we must eat, and then we can play. We shouldn't just let our lunch go to waste," she quipped at me with a shake of her finger.

"I'm sorry, honey. I'm just a little excited to have lunch with you today," I apologized quickly.

"I know, my dear. But we must keep our manners here," she replied as she peels off a few layers off of a head of lettuce.

I did notice however, while she went about her work, that there was something on her mind. I didn't know what it was, and so I asked: "Hey, Zecora?"

"Yes, David?" she responded, stopping what she was doing for a moment to look at me quizzically.

"I just think that you've got something on your mind that has been troubling you since my big confession to you. And... I really do want to know what it is. Is it the pace that we just went through? Our chemistry, or uh....? Oh, uh, forgive me, but I just can't figure it out," I began to ask before being stumped by my mental block.

"No, but I will be honest. I find that my mind is not at it's best," she answered with her gaze sinking down to the floor.

"Zecora... please... tell me," I begged of her with my hands clasped together with hers, hoping that it wasn't anything bad that could ruin our brand new relationship.

"It's the differences with our ages. You are quite young, where as I have been to many places," Zecora sadly answered with a sad look on her face. "If I remember correctly, you said that your twenty-two. Well, my age is thirty-three. And I greatly fear that our age gap will end it here." She shivered at the thought that invaded her mind's eye. I pulled up her face to meet her gaze with mine.
