Chapter 1-Finding the Portal
"Ow!" I shouted as I landed on the concrete in front of the portal. I looked back at it. "Well, could have been worse." I checked to see if my necklace was still there. I could feel the smooth flat circle. If I had lost that, I would literally be doomed. I had just ran through all of Ponyville, struggling to get here. I didn't have a horn or wings, and I wasn't an earth pony either. For now, I was just a pony, or at the moment, a human.
I picked myself off the ground. This portal really should have been put somewhere else. I looked at my surroundings. There were a bunch of teens outside, just talking and laughing with each other. A perfectly normal school day.
I recalled my last memory of this place, about ten years ago. The same exact scene, but with different people. I had wished that I could be normal like them. Now I hardly care. After all, I can only stay here for three days before I need to go back to Equestria. Then I may never have to come back here again.
I started to walk towards the school. Thanks to my necklace, nobody saw me come through the portal. Instead, they saw me coming off a bus, but they did hear me yell ''ow", and some of them were glancing at me.
Just then the bell rang. Everyone started to get to class. I walked in with the crowd. I got a few looks from some people, but nothing major. I went straight to the principal's office as I had before. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door.
"Um...Celestia?" I squeaked.
Principal Celestia was organizing some paperwork. She looked up. "Glitz, is that you?" She was obviously surprised. "I didn't expect to see you again after what happened the last time you were here."
I shuddered at the memory. "I'm really sorry I caused so much trouble, but I have my powers under control now."
"Oh, don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault. You wouldn't have ever known if it didn't happen. Anyways, what brings you to CHS again?"
I looked at the ground. "I want to keep this between Luna and us, OK?"
She nodded her head.
I took another deep breath. "I'll only be here for three days. I have to find the portal from which I came from. Not the one to Equestria, but a different one, one that can only be found in this dimension. I think I know where it is, but I'm not entirely sure. The necklace will help keep me standing, but only for three more days. I can't believe it has been 3,000 years already."
"I see." the principal said. "Well, since you mentioned Equestria, we now have a student who's from there. Her name is Sunset Shimmer, and after a long story which I'd rather not retell, there are five other girls here who have a form of magic. We also have a new student, Twilight Sparkle is her name, who can probably generate the same magic. I thought I should tell you this, just in case something happens."
"Thanks," I said, "but I know the major parts of the story already, though I don't know the details. My necklace still lets me use my powers, but very weakly."
"Well, good luck once again. I'll tell my sister you're back."
"Thanks again. Bye!"
I walked out of the room. I should probably avoid those seven girls. If their magic was to come into contact with mine, it could be even worse than last time.
I walked for about twenty minutes before I found the door to the roof. The stairs that led to it were almost in the same shape as last time. I started climbing them, one by one. With each step my necklace started glowing brighter and brighter. Finally I reached the top. I felt stronger up here. My necklace was now as bright as the sun. The portal has got to be up here. Last time I spent days searching for it, that is, before I had to go back to Equestria.
You see, besides Equestria, I can only stay in another dimension for a certain amount of time. The time limit gets shorter every year. Last time I could stay here for a week. Now it's only three days!
I noticed that my necklace was glowing brighter when I moved farther from the stairs. But there was nothing else up here except for the "dome thing". Unless...
"That's it!" I shouted. I instantly put my hand over my mouth. I didn't want anyone to know I was up here.
Magic. It must be hidden with magic. Then that would mean the only way to find it is to actually use magic. I clutched my necklace. Please, please, PLEASE don't fail me now! I chanted a spell that would allow me to find the portal. Almost instantly there was a bright flash on the side of the roof. I ran towards it. When I got there, there was a white circle floating in the air The portal! I had finally found it.
I looked it up and down. It just seemed to be the same portal from Equestria only white. I put my hand through. I still saw white. I took it back out. It didn't feel any different.
My necklace was on fire. I picked it up. My whole hand was a bright ball of light. A moment later, I felt a huge surge of magic go through me. It was so strong that I almost fell backwards. I hadn't felt that much magic in 3,000 years. I always knew the necklace was connected to the world that lies behind this portal, but I didn't think it was THAT strong.
When I regained my balance, I took a step back. What exactly is this world like? I didn't know anything about the place.
The bell rang, again. I looked at the sun. School must be over. I looked back at the portal. I'd have to come back tomorrow. With that I started to head toward the stairs, wondering what to do about the portal. As soon as I was at the door, however, the portal closed on its own. My necklace was still glowing, but as I climbed down the stairs, it faded away.
Chapter 2-Catching Up With Luna
I was now at the front doors once again. Now, where did I stay last time? As I tried to recall the memory, I heard my name being called from behind.
"Glitz?" It was Luna. Oh boy.
"Glitz! Wow, never thought I'd see you again," Vice Principal Luna said.
I turned around and started to rock back and forth on my feet. "Hi, Luna."
Everyone was already outside and starting to go home. Well, everyone except me, Luna, and a group of seven girls who were walking towards the music room. I turned my head to get a better look at them. Luna saw me and turned her head also.
"Have you met them yet?" she asked me.
"No. Actually, I don't know anyone here except you and your sister. Things can change a lot in ten years." I looked at the ground. I didn't really know what to say. Finally, Luna spoke up.
"Well, if your having trouble finding a place to stay, you could ask those girls. The pink one with the crazy hair will probably throw a sleepover. It could be better than sleeping on desks in a classroom."
Now I remembered where I had stayed last time. It was in one of the classrooms, a math one I think. I had shoved the desks together to make a bed. Then I got a blanket I found in one of the teachers desk. I'm still surprised that it was even there. When it was morning, I would push all the desks back to where they originally were. I had to do that for six nights.
I looked back at the music room. I could here a band playing some rock songs. I looked up at Luna. "Yeah, I think it'll be much better than that."
"I thought so," she replied. "So, how have you been?"
"Fine," I answered. " I got to go back to a lot of places these past ten years. I've learned even more about my necklace. Now I can perform spells in minutes that would have taken me hours before. Even though I can do all that, my magic is still very weak."
"Well, that shouldn't have been to surprising, considering what you could do last time." I could tell she wasn't very happy at revisiting that memory.
"Um, so, how have you been?" I asked Luna.
"Fine, also. Not much has changed around here. I mean, there are different students, of course, but besides that, nothing else really. Oh, wait, there is actually one thing. Do you remember Crystal Prep?"
How could I not? After I first went to Crystal Prep, I had hoped it would be my last. I almost got kicked out because I couldn't meet the dress code standard. That was, unfortunately, the first place I went to when I first came to this world , as far as I can remember. Very quietly I answered yes.
"Well, we are kind of like friends now."
My jaw dropped. HOW? I remembered that when I finally left that place and came here, some kid told me that they were extremely bad enemies. I had asked Celestia about this afterwards, and she said it was true. And by the way she said it, I didn't think there was a chance that the two schools would ever calm down enough to have a simple conversation, much less be friends.
Luna must have saw how shocked I was. She scratched her head. " I know you're probably surprised about this."
"Surprised?!" I exclaimed. "I never even dreamed of you two having a discussion without someone shouting and causing a huge uproar. Celestia had practically said so herself."
"Yes, I know, but that's what changed. Did my sister tell you about the new student Twilight Sparkle?"
"Yeah, she mentioned something about that. She was one of the "magical girls", right?"
"Yes. She actually transferred from Crystal Prep. Did you use your magic to see that story already?"
I think this would be a good time to explain how I can use my magic to see certain things even though I'm not actually there. I have the ability to summon a type of time magic. When I have this magic, I say a spell that will make the magic show recent events that may be helpful to know later. But because I must rely on my necklace for all my magic currently, I can only see the main things that happen. Because I can only see the important parts, I can't see the any of the unimportant parts, even if I wanted to.
"Yes, I already have, but I don't know the details."
"You don't need to know any of the details, just What had happened after the battle. Do you remember that?"
"Yes," I replied.
She then dropped her head and sighed. "I still can't believe it's you. I mean, look at what you did last time."
Great, she's going to actually revisit that memory.
"You totally destroyed the place, but in a flash it was brand new. You sent rocks flying through the sky, but the next moment any damage, even a scratch, that the rocks had made were gone."
It's official, she revisited the memory.
She shook her head. "I may not understand your magic, but I do ask one thing, do you?"
For awhile we just stood there. I remembered that for decades and centuries I couldn't control my magic, much less understand it. But then that day came. The day that will soon have been 3,000 years ago. After what happened that day, I had set out to finally learn about my magic, but only ten years ago did I fully understand it. Finally, I said yes.
Instantly, Luna looked relieved. "Well, I don't think I should be wasting any more of your time." She turned around to leave.
"Wait!"
She turned around.
"I almost forgot to tell you. I found the portal."
Luna's eyes went went wide. "What?"
"I found the portal," I repeated. "The whole reason why I was here in the first place was to find that portal, and I finally have."
"That's wonderful!" she exclaimed. "This means you can control your powers, right?"
"Yes. I'm going to try to find out more about it tomorrow, but I only have-"
"-three days." Luna said. "Yes, I know. My sister told me. Good luck, then. Bye Glitz!"
"Bye."
As soon as she turned around I headed to the music room. The music had stopped. I took a very deep breath and pushed open the doors.
