"Why am I like this? Why am I such a fuck up? " I spoke to myself as I walked through the woods. I tend to wander around natural growth when ever I need to think. "Why can't I just be good?" I asked my self as I stepped over a log, eyes watering with hatred. Earlier today I decided to not go to school at all. I was sick of the harassment from the cults and their actions to satisfy the urge to slap my flank as I passed by. So instead of going to a school that has no respect for mares, I decided to spend the day in the woods, a comfortable place for me to hang out untill it was time to head home. In doing so, the school told my parents that I was missing, and of course my parents freaked out and told the police.

"If only I had stayed home." I said as I walked farther into the dense bush. "I wouldn't have lost Jenny." Jenny is my best friend. She was so worried when I didn't show up at school, that she thought I got kidnapped and raped. The school told me she tried to kill herself in the bathroom, and she was sent away, but they never told me where.

"Ouch!" I screamed as a sudden strike of pain hit my side. A tree branch had stabbed me, breaking the skin. I pulled a bandage out of my bag as red blood began oozing out. I rapped it around me, and the red liquid bleed through each layer of the healing cloth. "I need to be more careful." I warned myself as I continued making my way through the green bush. Without realizing it, I came across a clearing in the woods. Soon I noticed what looked like a mirror in the middle of the grassy opening. Although my side hurt, I trouted over to it, my curiosity getting the better of me.

As I approched the the mysterious mirror, I saw something I didn't want to see. I saw a creature in it. One that had my mane, my hooves, my tail, yet it was dark. It's eyes were pitch black, and it smiled an evil grin. As I moved closer to the mirror its self, the creature inside fallowed each move I made with no hesitation. A tear fell down my cheek as I realized that this creature, this monster, was me. And although it was a reflection of myself it did have some differences. The red mane looked more dark in a way and so was the same with our purple fur. It was also surrounded by a black, misty shadow. I noticed the more I cried at the site, the more joyful and happy it seemed.

"Wh-who are you..? " I asked the monster. I could barley form the words on my lips, and they shook from the fear of knowing the real answer. "I am you Scarlett. Can't you tell? " the creature answered with a darker and more frightening tone then mine.

"I don't believe that!" I shouted in anger. "Most ponies don't." it replied. "Most are frightened and fearful of the truth." I took a step back. "No! This isn't true! " I barked "I'm not a monster!" the creature sighed in disbelief. "Do you see the writing up there? " we both looked up at some symbols that were carved into the mirror. It didn't look like any type of language I had ever seen.

I looked back down at the monster in confusion, then it began to speak. "it reads For if any pony looks apon this mirror, thou shall see themselves for who they truly are." My eyes began flooding with tears.

"No. No! This isn't real!" I screamed, falling to my flank. I let the salty water roll down my face as I denied everything this creature said. It let out a slight chuckle and began to speak again. "Look at us Scarlett. We're happy. Why would you want to refuse such a pleasant thing? Isn't this what you wanted, to be happy, to not fuck up all the time?" I looked up at my reflection once more. Thoughs were racing through my head. "But I'm not a monster." I replied.

My reflection put it's hoof to the glass. "We're not a monster. You're just a nightmare. A child of the darkness." Another tear had rolled down my cheek as I replied to it. "Nightmares aren't real." The reflection chuckled. It had seemed to love each moment I deinied the truth. Laughing at each moment I questioned reality. "The mind doesn't make up a face, nor does it make up a creature, or a horror. Your mind just doesn't want you to remember the creepy crawlies that you see every day. Expecally if the creature is you. "

I took up and took a step forward. "so you're real?" I asked. I never wanted this to actully be reality but is this the truth? Have i really just been avoiding myself this entier time?

"So are you" my reflection replied as it put it's other hoof onto the glass. Without second though, I put my hooves were hers were. The mirror began to glow as my refection whispered "You are Njghtmare Scarlett." she began vanishing as...

I shot up out of my bed, screaming! My heart was racing! I struggled to catch my breath as I whipped the sweat and tears off my face. "It was just a dream!?" I shouted as I patted myself to make sure I was real. My parents came running into my room. "Honey are you alright!?" my father asked worriedly. My mother came beside my bed with a cloth and whipped my face off. "y-ya dad. I'm fine. W-what happened?" I asked. I wasnt sure how I got from the woods, then into my bed. This dream I had seemed to real for it to only be a dream.

"Well darling... " my mother began looking up at my father. "You were so upset after you heard that Jenny tried to kill herself that you grabbed a knife and stabbed your side asking why you were such a bad child." I looked at my mother then felt a sting in my side. I lifted up my blanket to see the bandage I put on when a tree branch stabbed my side. "H-how..." I asked myself "How is this possible?" my mother looked at me with worried eyes. "well we were hoping you would tell us." I ignored her as I got out of my bed on the opposite side of her. "I have to use the bathroom." I said as I walked out of room.

As I walked into the bathroom, rubbed my eyes, then looked in the mirror. And there it was, the creature.
