My Favorite Sister
Chapter 1: The Storm
Load Full StoryFluttershy's voice rang out above the trees. Her wings were beating slowly as she glided above the ground, her hooves' tips grazing the tallest blades of grass. Her empty saddle bags put almost no weight on her. Angel Bunny was racing behind her, trying to keep up on his little bunny legs.
The meadow behind Fluttershy's house smelled like spring. The daffodils were blooming brightly and the rain leftover from the night before had soaked into the ground, creating a thick sense to the air. Small birds were chirping happily in the highest branches of the trees, vocalizing the harmony to Fluttershy's nonsense song. The fruit of the trees were in bloom and all was right in the cycle of nature.
"Bloom, bloom, oh dear spring, bloom," she sang, her eyes closed against the bright sun. "Sing me your sweet song of sweet days.
"Swing, swing, my dear flower petals, swing.
"Swing in the breeze of these sweet days.
"Aaah-ah-aaaah, breezy days..."
She came to edge of the meadow, which marked the beginning of the Everfree forest. She wasn't as afraid of the forest as she used to be, since her journey into it with her friends. She still wouldn't approach it at night, however.
But it was morning now, and the foreboding entrance to the wood didn't hold much fear.
She entered the forest with little hesitation and darted to the nearest peach tree. She flew up to the highest branches and grabbed some of the ripest peaches. She dropped them in her bag and moved to the next tree. After collecting a few peaches, she floated back down to the ground, where she rustled some bushes for berries. Angel began sniffing around for tomatoes and carrots. He found some and added them to Fluttershy's growing bag.
Today was Foal's Day, the most important day for ponies to visit their treasured parents. Twilight and Spike were already in Canterlot, and Rarity left for Manehattan that morning. Applejack was already at Sweet Apple Acres, of course, and Pinkie Pie's sisters were going to pick her up on their way to her parent's rock farm outside of Ponyville. Rainbow Dash had been in Cloudsdale all week.
Fluttershy was packing for her trip to Cloudsdale. She was a little nervous about seeing her parents for the first time since last year, but the joy of seeing the ones she loved overrides all that. She wished that she could bring some of her animal friends with her, but it just couldn't be done. Nopony that wasn't a pegasus could come into Cloudsdale, for they wouldn't be able to walk on the clouds.
Angel stuffed one last carrot into her overflowing bag. "Oh, thank you, Angel," she cooed, gently patting the head of her bunny. He harrumphed and climbed on her head so he could sit between her ears on the ride home.
She glided back to her cottage, harmonizing with the birds. She danced in the air.
"Now remember, Angel, you'll be in charge until I come back," she instructed him, lowering her head so he could hop onto the floor. "Be careful and make sure everybody is fed, okay?"
Angel rolled his eyes at her and nodded begrudgingly.
"Okay. Um, goodbye, then." She moved to the door, but turned around suddenly. "If you need any help, go to Sweet Apple Acres and ask for Applejack, okay?"
Angel nodded and began pushing her to the door.
"But, um, if you need to move something heavy, then get Big Macintosh because he's big and strong."
Angel sighed.
"Not to say Applejack isn't strong, but.. um..."
Angel frowned and slapped her on the hoof. She jumped and look down at him.
"Oh you're right, Angel Bunny. I better get going. Just remember everything I've said, okay please?"
He glared at her and shoved her out the door. "Okay, then goodbye, Angel, be sure to--" He slammed the door behind her.
"Oh, um. Bye."
