A Lone Rifleman in Equestria: Chapter 7
Previous ChapterNext Chapter[The Everfree Forest]
In the peaceful surroundings of the Everfree Forest, the wildlife in the area continue with their daily routines as they always have. Birds and Owls settle into their nest for the night to not only protect their young, but to also get some rest for the upcoming day. Timber Wolves and a few Bears patrol their nests with keeping an eye and nose out for potential predators and prey that could either bring them harm or their next meal to feast on. As the night flows through it's usual routine, a squirrel, who has a large piece of fruit in it's mouth, emerges from the bushes and scurries through an opening to a single tree in the center of the opening. The squirrel scurries up the tree and into his nest that is perch inside of the tree in a hole that has rotted and chewed up to make it inhabitable for small creatures, such as the squirrel. The squirrel puts the large piece of fruit down and prepares to dive into it's meal when all of a sudden a loud pop disturbed the sound of the silent and peaceful night that surrounded the small squirrel. Before the squirrel could react, something punctured it's head and everything to the squirrel went black. The corpse of the squirrel fell forward, and out of it's nest, plummeting to the hard ground below. Emerging from a crouched position from the bush line of the Everfree forest, emerged Wolf who blew away the smoke from his 1911 pistol with pride of the impressive shot he just made onto his target. Wolf holsters his sidearm and walks towards the spot where the squirrel landed, at the foot of the large tree the squirrel once called home. While walking towards the spot, Wolf adjusts the improvised satchel that he made from a couple of vines that had deceased creatures, such as two rabbits, a small fox hound, and three birds hanging from the satchel. Wolf kneels down and picks up his prey while also checking it to see if it was still editable for him to consume. Luckily it was, but just barely with the round used to kill the squirrel nearly taking the whole creature apart from it being smaller than the average squirrel.
"This will do." Wolf thought to himself as he holstered the deceased squirrel to his satchel with the rest of his game. As Wolf raised himself from his kneeling position, he took notice of his surroundings.
"Hmm, if I remember correctly, then I shouldn't be far from it." Wolf thought to himself while staring to walk in the direction of the familiar surroundings.
After a couple of minutes of walking and making sure that he was on the right path to his destination, he came across a familiar scene from when first woke up in this crazy place.
"Ah, there it is. I was so worried about Scootaloo that I completely forgot about this thing she had with her." Wolf thought to himself as he picked up Scootaloo's scooter, dusting off dust and maggots who were chewing at the wooden plank of the base of the scooter. After examining the scooter, Wolf came to the conclusion that it was still in good shape, minus the few scratches/chew marks from the initial crash and the maggots feasting on it, as well as a shattered mirror on the right handle bar of the scooter.
As Wolf was looking at the shattered mirror, he spot something bluish that was coming directly for him in the reflection of the mirror. Taking evasive action, Wolf got out of the way from whatever it was that was coming towards him. Wolf unholstered his sidearm, and turned towards where he once stood. But before he could raise his firearm up at whatever that thing was, he was sent back by a strong kick to the chest that had him on his back in pain. As he tried to recover and get himself up, something jumped on him that kicked out his gun from his hand, placed enough pressure on Wolf's right arm to hold it down, and drove a dagger towards his face. Luckily and within a few inches of the blade making contact with Wolf, he managed to block the dagger with his free left arm. As he struggled to keep the dagger at bay, he noticed what that thing was that was attacking him, it was the rainbow maned Pegasus that was giving him a death glare when he had Pinkie as a hostage and made his escape from Ponyville.
“You’re gonna learn what happens when you mess with one of my friends, you son of a bitch!” The Pegasus muttered through her teeth as she held the dagger in her mouth and struggled against Wolf’s effort to keep her dagger at bay. After a few moments of struggle, Wolf managed to squirm his left leg out of the horizontal hold that Rainbow Dash had her free right back leg in so that Wolf couldn’t move his legs, and Wolf managed to hit Rainbow Dash in the side with a stern knee strike that had Rainbow Dash stumble and lost most of her grip on Wolf. From this opportunity, Wolf punched Rainbow Dash off of him, knocking the dagger out of her mouth in the process. Wolf noticed this and quickly crawled over to the prone dagger, Rainbow Dash noticed this as well, and rushed to stop Wolf from getting his hands on the dagger. Wolf managed to grab the dagger while also rolling out of the way from Rainbow Dash who came down hard to the ground from where Wolf was prone. Rainbow Dash tried to kick Wolf as she had before to keep him down, but Wolf caught her hoof and twisted it that resulted in her leg snapping from the pressure that the sudden twist brought to her leg.
“AHH!!” Rainbow Dash screamed as her now broken leg shot massive amounts of pain through her body, but her screaming was soon brought to an end by a hard punch to the side of her head, knocking her unconscious.
Wolf took a couple of breaths before getting to his feet. He made sure that Rainbow Dash was completely out of it, which she was, and took a quick look around to see if anyone else was around to possibly attack him as well. He figured that if Rainbow Dash wasn’t alone, then he would have already been attacked by now, but he was trained to do this in situations like the one that just took place with him being attacked by a hostile. After he checked to see if anyone else was around, which there wasn’t, he looked around to where his sidearm and hat that came off during the fight had went. He spotted and collected them, while keeping an eye on the unconscious Pegasus that was a few inches away from him. He stood and thought for a second before picking up and folding the handlebar to Scootaloo's scooter, hooking it to his satchel, and walked towards a tree with a couple of thick vines hanging from it’s branches. After using his small axe that he had with him for collecting fire wood that he did before going out hunting for food, he collected what he needed, and he made his way towards Rainbow Dash with intentions of helping her. After holstering the small axe He tied her hooves, wings, and had the thickest of vines in her mouth to not only keep her quiet but also make sure that she couldn’t chew her way through it. After that, he checked over her broken leg and inspected the damage he caused. As expected by Wolf, and unfortunate for Rainbow Dash, her leg was twisted in a odd position that needed to be set back into place. Wolf wouldn’t be able to move her if her leg remained like his, and he also needed to get a brace on her leg as it would keep it in place when moving her.
“You’re most certainly not gonna like this.” Wolf thought to himself while taking a deep breath and getting a strong grip on the fractured leg.
“1...2...3.” Wolf counted to himself, and on the count of three he snapped the fractured leg back into place. This made Rainbow Dash snap out of her unconscious state, and screaming in pain through the thick vine in her mouth. Wolf held her down as she freaked out in pain in order for her to not move her broken leg.
After a few moments of her struggling to move, but with no success with being held down by Wolf. She stopped moving from her muscles giving out from all the pain she was from moving, and deeply sobbed from the pain she was in.
As she cried, Wolf got to work with securing her fractured leg. He took a branch he collected and tied it to the fractured area. After making sure all vines were securely tightened, he gave the Pegasus a moment to calm down and the pain to fade away.
After a few minutes of waiting, Rainbow Dash stopped sobbing and calmed down. She was still in pain, but not as bad from a few minutes ago.
“You okay now?” Wolf asked, but with no answer from Rainbow Dash.
“Look, I’m sorry that I did this to you. But I had to do it in order for me to get you out of here. Your leg would only would’ve gotten worse if I left it the way it was.” Wolf explained, but still no answer from Rainbow Dash.
“Alright then, if that’s how you want it.” Wolf told Rainbow Dash as he moved his hands under Rainbow Dash to pick her up.
Wolf slowly picked her up with making sure the leg was secure and she was in as much comfort as possible. Wolf was now on his feet with everything collected, and he made his way back towards his campsite in the cave.
“It’s far too dark out to take you back to Ponyville, I’ll take you back to my camp for now then to Ponyville in the morning.” Wolf explained to Rainbow Dash who didn’t answer and was still mad at Wolf for everything that has happened.
“Well in all honesty, I cannot blame her. I’d be just as pissed if I was where she is right now.” Wolf thought to himself as he began to make the trip back to his camp, while also wondering how things will unfold when he makes a return trip to Ponyville in the morning.
