What is Christmas?
Prologue
Load Full StoryThe Ponyville library, so peaceful and so quiet. It was perfect, especially for nineteen year old Twilight Sparkle. A teacher in training with the easygoing personality which made her very easy to get along with or befriend for that matter. Although she seemed a little desolate and far out, she was a truly kind person with big heart, not mention a love for books and learning. Why else would she spend so much time in the library?
Twilight sighed, and closed the book she had been reading for the past hour. It had been the classical tale of Romeo and Juliet, the tale of a pair of star-crossed lovers who really never should have met in the first now that she came to think of it. If only Romeo had been such a Casanova, they wouldn't have died. It was this book that taught her the simplest of facts, fairy tales don't always have a happy ending. She never understood why she like that one book so much she just did, and that's all anyone really needed to know.
She picked up her back pack, which she had placed beneath her her chair, and strolled out into the autumn air. She took a deep breath as she exited the building. The afternoon was simply glorious, with leaves in shining colors of red, orange and gold, accompanied by a gentle breeze, and the chirping of the last birds of the year. Yes, nothing could ruin a day like this. Not even the cries for help, that seemed to be just meters away. Wait, cries for help?
"That can't be right." Twilight muttered, as she started to walk in the general direction of the sound. It became louder and more audible as went, signaling that she was heading in the right direction. As the cries became louder she started to run faster, as though something were pushing the girl to move faster. She soon found her self standing in a park at the center of the town.
Twilight pulled a strand of her purple hair away from her eyes and looked over the park. Nothing seemed any different, aside from the fact that there was and orange pegasus, with a blue mane and tail, clearly stuck beneath a fallen branch. Twilight approached the creature cautiously.
"Is it dead?" she wondered aloud.
No sooner had she said that did the animal open it's eyes. "It?" The pegasus snapped, "Who are you calling an it? I'm guy!"
Twilight jumped back, "Oh. I'm sorry sir." She said quickly, "I had no idea."
The pegasus rolled his light blue eyes, but then looked directly at Twilight and smiled slightly, "Do you think you can give me a hoof? Or what ever those are called at the end of you forelegs? I'm kinda in a sticky situation." He gestured his head towards the tree.
Twilight didn't know what to say to the pegasus, so she nodded and began trying to manuver the branch off of the creature.
"The name is Flash Sentry by the way." He added as Twilight started to move the branch.
"Twilight." She replied with a smile, "Twilight Sparkle."
