I Swear I Didn't Notice...
"I wanna be a part of the plannnnn." Twilight hummed as she encased yet another book in her magenta glow. "Let's see, where is that silly dragon? Spike!" She called. Her little friend stumbled down the stairs, standing at attention as if he were a solider.
"I-i-I'm here, Twi!" Spike gulped and then continued in a mumble, "I overslept."
"Good. Now, go grab the Encyclopedia of Romance, Volumes 1 through 27, and put them in the section 'Books I Will Never Read No Matter How Many Pleading Letters From Cadence I Get'." Twilight said, making a a mark on her clipboard.
"I thought you read everything." Spike said, puzzled.
"I do!" Twilight replied cheerfully.
"But you just said... Oh, screw it." Spike relented.
Spike grabbed the books (well, ONE of the books) and proceeded to attempt to put it on the shelf, trying over and over again to even get high enough to set it down. Noticing this, Twilight took the book from him and placed it carefully on the shelf. "Why don't you go sort the other ones over there. The less heavy ones. " Twilight smiled sympathetically. Spike nodded eagerly, happy to have a job that didn't require six months of gym work leading up to it. He ran and jumped into the pile of books, grabbing multiple at a time and shoving them into piles.
"Spike, please be careful. You know, those books mean a lot to me." Twilight reminded him.
"Heh, sorry Twi. I'll be more careful." Spike smiled sheepishly and resumed sorting.
"TWILIGHT!" A voice said as the door to the library slammed open and then slammed shut with a crash.
"RARITY!" Spike exclaimed, his eyes immediately lighting up and becoming hearts.
"Oh, yes, hello Spike." Rarity said, attempting to shake him off her leg to which he had desperately clung. "TWILIGHT!" Her voice once again filling the castle's cavernous walls. Twilight skidded into the room, her legs everywhere.
"There you are darling, I was just looking for you. I need some help finding a book. A romance novel, please?" Rarity asked.
"Oh! Yes, we do have an extensive collection." Twilight replied. "Mostly thanks to Candence..." she mumbled.
"I didn't catch that last part, dear. Could you repeat it?" Rarity asked.
"Never mind."
"Oh. Okay. Spike, dear, do you have the novel, oh, hmmm, how about, Backstabbed?" Rarity asked Spike, him diving into the pile of books.
"You like vampire romance?" Twilight asked incredulously.
"Why, yes, my dear, why, exactly, is that surprising?" Rarity questioned.
"Well, Bloodied Hooves is awful, Midnight is stupidly improbable and flat-out idiotic, and I guess I really just didn't see you as that kind of reader." Twilight admitted.
"Hey Twi, do you want this journal?" Spike asked, sticking his head up above the pile.
"What journal?"
"Uh, the one that says 'Property of Starswirl The Bearded'."
Twilight's eyes brightened up and she started giggling like a schoolfilly. "Oh. My. CELESTIA! It's still here! It really is!"
"Oooh, somepony is excited! Why, my dear, is this so important though?" Rarity asked, confused.
"I thought I'd blown it up! Oh, this is FANTASTIC!" Twilight exclaimed.
''Fantastic? Why is an old journal fantastic?" Rarity asked once again.
''This means I could turn you all into ALICORNS! Oh, I'd never really do this to you though." Twilight said, looking at her wings. "Well, let's have a look at that old spell of his."
''Are you sure that's a good idea, darling?" Rarity questioned, looking somewhat frightened.
"No!" Twilight replied cheerfully.
"Oh dear." Rarity said.
Twilight opened the book and then gasped.
