“Trot this way, Talk this way. Trot this Way. Talk this way just gimme a kiss!” Celestia sang.
“Tia? Are you in there?” Luna said.
The shower turned off with a squeak and Celestia came out with a towel wrapped around her multi-hued mane. Her fur was damp with water.
“Did you call for me?” she said.
“Uh yes, I am going to raise the moon now… so… I didn’t know if-“
“Oh yes! Thank you for taking care of that.” And then Celestia trotted off to her room.
“But…” Luna meekly cried to her, but the door closed before she could finish her sentence.
Tears streamed down Luna’s face as her horn glowed a translucent periwinkle. She strained to lift up the cheese-like formation into the now darkened sky. The stars followed in an organized pattern. As she placed the moon into the sky she fell to the ground of their castle. Nopony played in the moonlight. Nopony appreciated the effort it took to raise both the moon and the stars. Luna lay on the floor in a heap of black and blue. She vowed that one day, she would get revenge.
Months passed and each night was the same, the happy ponies would frolic and play in the light of the sun, but sleep in deep slumber during her beautiful night. One fateful day, just as it was time to lower the moon to make way for the golden sun, Luna sat in her room. She was reading a book on the stars. This was her favorite book because it told how beautiful night was and how lovely the stars were aligned. She also enjoyed it because it was signed by the only pony she had ever known that truly admired her night. Before his death, the stallion who wrote the book had come to visit Luna and see her raise the moon with his own eyes. He cried tears of joy as the young filly raised up the moon. She had never felt more happiness in her life. But weeks later, the old grey stallion passed on and she never saw him alive again. She attended the funeral and gifted him a flower bouquet. But the sorrow still filled her heart.
“Luna, its time to lower the moon…” she called
“Sister, I refuse to lower the moon.” Luna retorted.
“Then I will have to lower it myself.” She said in a snappy tone of voice
And she went to the window to lower it. She strained as her milky white horn glowed a golden hue and she pulled down on the moon. Sweat formed on her upper brow and tears formed in her eyes. She groaned as she forced the silver sphere down. She pushed and pulled and was finally successful. But as she turned around, Luna came from behind her throne.
“Not another step.” Luna commanded. “Did you really expect me to sit idly by while they all basked in your precious light?”
Celestia opened her mouth to speak but she couldn’t find her voice.
“There can only be one princess in Equestria! And that princess will be me!”
There was a loud rumbling and the moon raised high in the sky, covering the sun. Luna was surrounded by darkness and was surrounded in a giant red ball of magic. She burst through, her teeth pointy sharp, her eyes slit and menacing and her coat pitch black. She laughed.
Celestia fought back tears, “Luna, I will not fight you! You must lower the moon! It is your duty!”
The black alicorn scoffed. “Luna? I am Nightmare Moon! I have but one royal duty now: to destroy you!”
Nightmare moon’s horn shot a beam of blue light as she broke a hole into the ceiling
Celestia ran
And where do you think you're going?”
“I will not fight you.” The pale alicorn spoke and she fought back tears.
But the villainous princess did not cease her fire.
Reluctantly, Celestia brought 6 magic gemstones from a secret door below the castle floor.
“I did not want to have to do this,” she said as she shot a bolt of gold into the biggest gem, shaped like a 6 pointed star.
When Nightmare Moon saw what was happening, she tried to get away but her elder sister was too quick for her.
“NOOOOOO!” She cried as the white princess shot a beam of 6 different colors, each a different colors of the rainbow.
Celestia looked in the sky and she swore she saw the moon had the slender unicorn head on the right hoof side of the moon. A lump formed in her throat as she lowered the giant rock formation to bring up the spear of light. For she knew now that her sister would not be there to see the next Thousand years.
later that night, after she rose the moon and went to bed, she realized all the signs her sister had given her. Anger, fear, depression. When she would lock herself in her room every moringing. How she heard sobs comming from her room every night. And how her sister used to envy her elder sisters day. Celestia a could recall the very first time Luna raised the moon alone.
And as she fell asleep, she soaked her pillow in her tears.
