Sunset Shimmer

Previous Chapter

Arriving at the school around seven thirty, Moonlight stopped at what looked like a pedestal that had originally had something above it. Whatever it was must have been blasted clean off the top. Walking around, Moonlight examined the different mirrors. Stopping at the one facing the school, a strange rainbow gleam flashed through it.

"How is that possible? There's no sun out, and it hasn't rained recently." Moonlight pondered to herself. Reaching out, she almost touched the mirror surface before a voice called out behind her.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

Spinning around, Moonlight saw two people behind her. One was a girl around her age and height, with weird light bacon colored hair, amber skin, and bright teal eyes. With a black sports jacket, a green dress and pants, and high heeled boots, it was difficult for Moonlight not to blurt out top dog at the mystery girl. The other teenager was right behind her, hunched over breathing heavily. White hair and skin, blue eyes, and decked out in a white hoody with a white shirt and blue jeans and sneaks, he looked average than his friend.

"Did, we really, need to, chase her all the way to the school." he said gasping for breath.

"Excuse me, but did he just say 'chase'?" Moonlight the bacon haired girl, ready to throw down. Sighing, the girl threw an exasperated look at the boy, then turned to face Moonlight.

"I'm sorry we followed you, but lately we've had to deal with some, troublesome people, so I guess I got a little paranoid when I saw you looking at the por- I mean statue." she explained, looking apologetic.

Still staying on her guard, Moonlight wondered what kind of troublemaker could just destroy a whole statue. Deciding that it wasn't worth worrying about, she loosened up.

"Well anyway, my name is Moonlight Eclipse, I'm new here, and I came early because I wanted to get my schedule." Moonlight told the green and black clad chick. Smiling, Ms. Bacon Hair brightened up considerably.

"It's nice to meet you Moonlight, I'm Sunset Shimmer, and I've been to Canterlot High for four years already, so I'd gladly like to make it up to you by showing you around campus if you'd like." Sunset said.

Once again Moonlight was made uneasy by this girl's sudden earnestness. While it would be nice to have a guide, ( Moonlight sucked at reading maps ), something about Sunset set Moonlight on edge. But it would be helpful, plus she didn't want to come off as rude on the first day.

"Alright well, I suppose it couldn't hurt, I suppose." Moonlight told Sunset. She still felt like something was up with Ms. Shimmer, so might as well keep an eye on her.

Practically, jumping with joy, Sunset hooked her arm around Moonlight's and dragged her to the school entrance.

"Come on Soul, we need to get Moonlight to the Principal Celestia's office, and then we'll show her around." Sunset called to the boy, now known as Soul. He let out a groan, then followed behind them at a more leisurely pace than Sunset. Looking back behind him, Moonlight took one last look at the ruined pedestal, still wondering about the weird multi colored glow she saw.
