On an away mission to investigate Equestria, Kirk, Spock and McCoy are attacked and captured by one who calls herself Celestia. They find a surprising ally in Celestia's sister Luna when she finds then frees them. Now on a quest to determine what's happened to Celestia, matters are made only worse when a squadron of Romulan Battle Cruisers enter orbit intent on taking the planet for themselves.
