From Highest Remembrance (Feudal Universe)
Inspired by the song From Highest Remembrance
Two ponies stood in the rain.
They had been standing in the rain for hours now, neither wanting to move, for moving would spell death. One stood on a raised dais, his platted armor shining silver in the moonlight piercing through the thin clouds, and his Yari looking pristine, and an emblem on his helmet showing he was of the rank of Shogun. The other stood on ascending stairs, his armor showing several places where it had been bitten into by weapons, and his Katana dripping with blood.
Behind the pony lay several dead ponies, who had been guarding the one standing on the dais while he enjoyed tea at his favorite tea house, which had no roof to speak of save for near the walls. They had been problematic, for they were the shoguns finest warriors, but the pony was greater, able to kill them quickly before climbing onto the steps and waiting.
Neither of them had moved after that, and to the unaware it may have seemed like they were just staring at each other out of mutual hatred. But to those who caught a glimpse of their eyes, they could see that they were indeed doing battle, but within their minds.
As the echo of blades rang out from within their minds, they also split part of their minds away, thinking of different things about the other as their blades crossed within.
The shogun still couldn’t believe that this pony now stood before him with his blade drawn, for he had once been his most trusted of advisors, a stallion near and dear to his heart who had supported him throughout his long reign as shogun. But he had stepped out of line, embarrassing him in front of the rest of his army, and for that he was made an example of, which had led to this moment.
Sure, he knew his choice of punishment had been harsh, but he had never once entertained the thought that his most prized advisor would turn on him, not once, and now, he was paying for that mistake, most likely with his life.
The pony also couldn’t believe he was here, but he knew his blade was not yet done spilling blood today, and would not be satisfied till it bit into the shogun it had once served. He remembered why the shogun had turned on him, for he had spoken out against his shogun when he had proposed a battle plan against one of their greatest enemies, one which would cost hundreds upon thousands of innocent lives.
His words had angered the shogun, for him speaking out against his plan he had embarrassed the shogun, and the shogun had decided to make an example of him…by disemboweling his wife and son, and then spearing his unborn daughter on a pike outside his gate as a reminder of what happens to those who displease there shogun.
When he had done that, the pony who had once been his most trusted had flown into a rage, killing those who the shogun had used to do the dead before hunting the shogun down, and now they were here, standing still as the rain fell around them.
Finally, the pony spoke, breaking of their internal battle as his words traveled to the ears of the shogun. “I will give you this once chance, admit that you were wrong, and I shall let you take your life to save whatever honor you have left.”
The shogun snorted, “Come now, you and I both know I shall never do that, this can end one way…and one way only.”
With those last words said, the shogun moved, charging forward with his Yari pointed at the pony, moving with great speed as he gave a mighty roar of challenge. The pony however did not move, waiting till the shoguns Yari was nearly at his throat before darting to the side and then forward, his blade cutting through the air as the shogun flew past him before stopping ten paces behind.
The pony waited, his breath flowing out his nostrils as the shogun just stood there, and then he heard it, a faint gurgle and then the sound of a body hitting the water soaked stone, the pony turning to see the shogun lying dead on the ground as his blood flowed with the water out of the road beyond.
The pony stood there for a moment longer, and then sheathed his katana, walking toward the door before stopping beside the shoguns body, his head lowering a bit as single tear fell, and he spoke his final words to him.
“I am sorry…father…”

Diana (Silver Sun Universe)
Inspired by the Song Daylight's End
She was gone.
It was the day after she had been forced to banish Luna to the moon, and currently, she was staring up at the sun which was her charge, the sounds of celebrating ponies making its way up to her balcony as tears fell from her eyes.
But this went unnoticed by them, for none cared that she had banished her sister, instead they had seen it as getting rid of a monster, a creature who had no place in their glorious day.
As she stared at the sun, she thought back to what had caused this, once again trying to find a solution, something that could have stopped this. Her sister had come to her a week earlier, asking her if they could extend the night for a day, thus allowing ponies to see the splendor of her night with awakened minds.
But Celestia had forbade it, for she knew the ponies were still recovering from Discord’s reign, and such a display would cause the populace to panic. Also, she didn’t know what kind of effects that would have on the magic of Equestria. But after her sister had stormed out, she had begun trying to find ways to aqueous to Luna’s request, but unfortunately, she had let that search fall to the wayside to address what she considered more important matters, and by the time she had started looking into the matter again…it had already been too late.
“Why…why couldn’t I just let her have one day?”
As if triggered by her words; suddenly she remembered something, something from long ago…in her past.
☾☾☾
“Momma, why do the stars go away when the sun comes out?”
The mare holding Celestia chuckled, staring up at the sun with her as she spoke. “Well my little Tia, the sun is so bright, it outshines all the other stars in the sky, preventing them from appearing.”
“But I like the stars; can’t we just let the moon stay out all day so we can see them forever?
The mare shook her head, “No my dear, we can’t let that happen, for if we did the world would freeze, and that would mean death for the little ponies who aren’t gifted with our power. However, if you surely wish to see the stars during the day, let me show you a little spell.”
The mare’s horn light up, and as it glowed, the color of the sun changed, going from its usually golden yellow hue to a bright silver light, the sky turning dark as a new night fell, and the stars came out.
“Oh momma this is so pretty, can the sun stay this way forever?”
“No my child, it can’t, for ponies are too used to its brilliant radiance, and would not accept the change willingly. But occasionally, if you want, I can do this for you, for it is quite lovely.”
“Ok momma,” said Celestia, yawning a bit before snuggling up to her and falling asleep.
☾☾☾
“N…no…”
Celestia collapsed upon the balcony in tears, the memory brining her more pain then joy. How…how could she have forgotten about that spell, for as a child, she had often asked her mother to change the sun so that the stars could show, and the night could bleed into the day.
It would have been the perfect spell to allow let Luna’s night be appreciated for a day, and it wouldn’t have caused much panic as long as the ponies saw her doing it. But now that chance was gone, and she would have to pay for that mistake for a thousand years.
“Then they shall pay as well,” snarled Celestia as she got up, her tears of sadness replaced by tears of rage as she gazed at the sun which had cost her so much, and with a grimace she lit up her horn.
Slowly, painstakingly, the sun’s light when from gold to silver, the blue sky fading away as the stars appeared, and down below, everypony stopped mid celebration to gaze up in horror, before panic set in as they began screaming in fear.
☾☾☾
*thud thud* “Celestia,” *thud thud* “Celestia please open up!”
The pony pounding on the door back away a bit as the sound of the doors handle moving reached his ears, the pony watching as the door opened before he and a few other nobles walked into her office, looks of panic etched on their faces.
When the made it inside, they saw that their princess was sitting at her desk, blanketed by shadow and a glass of wine held within her magic.
“Princess, we bring grave news, Nightmare Moon has returned!”
The princess sat there for a long moment, then took a sip of her wine, looking over at the noble before speaking. “I can assure you Compass, Nightmare Moon has not returned, for she is still trapped on the moon.”
“But princess, the moon has appeared in the sky, and the sun has…”
“That is not the moon.”
The nobles made to protest, but then the princess stood up, walking out from behind her desk and getting bathed in the silvery light, causing the nobles to gasp at her appearance.
Her mane and tale, once the colors of a pastel rainbow, now boar varying shades of blue, going from ice blue to dark blue in several stipes of vibrant color. Her magic, once golden like the glow of the sun, now shined silver around her horn, and her eyes had changed from strawberry pink to glacial blue. But it was the change to her cutie mark that frightened them the most, for like her magic, it had become silver as well.
“You…you destroyed the sun!”
“I did not destroy it,” said Celestia simply, “I just cast a spell taught to me long ago, to correct a mistake I made, and hopefully repay a debt owed to my sister.”
“But…but she betrayed you, and she tried to kill us all!”
“Only because she was unappreciated and hated,” said Celestia, a bite to her words as she glared at the nobles. “None of you appreciated the night she crafted, and if that wasn’t enough, you all helped to make me blind to her pain, till it was too late. So I have made a decision, as I suffer without my sister, so to shall you all suffer without the light of my day.”
The nobles stood there in silence for a moment, and then Compass spoke up. “No, the ponies shall not stand for this, they will revolt.”
“They may,” said Celestia coldly, “but it won’t matter either way, for until I see fit…The Dawn shall never rise again.”
And with that, Celestia left the room, leaving out the balcony window and flying off into the night, a night that would see no end.

The Place You Rest (Equestrian Beasts Universe)
Inspired by Red Like Roses from RWBY
The blood was still warm.
The mare sighed, getting up from her crouching position and looking toward where the trail of blood led, seeing a dark cave entrance at the end of it. She had been following the trail for ages now, ever since she had managed to peg her target with her riffle, though she had not managed to stop it from getting away.
She sighed again, following the trail into the cave mouth, before stopping suddenly when she saw that the cave mouth opened into a hole in the ground, though from what she could see, there was some sort of light source at the end.
So with a snort, she jumped down, sliding down the tunnel till she skidded to a stop at the end of the tunnel, her white hooves touching down upon the sand of a vast chamber.
She saw that the blood trail stopped in the center of the chamber, ending in a great splash of it, along with the shredded remnants of cloth and armor. Walking up to the scraps, she shifted them about till she found what she was looking for, lifting a locket up and opening it up.
The picture inside showed her when she was younger, and an older pony standing side beside, her white coat standing out in stark contrast to his dark grey one, and their yellow eyes shined in the light as they waved at the pony taking the picture, smiles plastered on their faces.
Suddenly she heard the intake of breath behind her, and turned to see a great black wolf descend from the shadows above, beginning to stalk around her as she took in the site of it. The majority of its fur was caked in blood, and bits of fur covered flesh kept dripping off its body, the signs of a recent transformation.
But it was the creature’s eyes that distressed her the most, for like hers, they were yellow, though in the light shining from the hole in the ceiling, they burned golden as the creature let loose with a growl.
“Brother…”
The creature stopped for a moment, taking a deep sniff of the air before its eyes softened, and its ears splayed back against its head. It whimpered, moving close to her and doing its best to nuzzle into her, forcing her into a sitting position as it continued to whimper into her white chest fur.
She hesitated for a moment, and then leaned down to nuzzle the top of its head, beginning to shush it as she spoke. “Shh, shh, it’s ok, it’s ok. I’m here now; everything is going to be alright.”
Slowly, so as not to alert it to what she was doing, her horn lit up, and very slowly she took her riffle from her back and moved it, till the barrel was placed against the wolfs throat.
The creature stopped whimpering then, its eyes widening for a moment before once again softening, before it nuzzled deeper into her chest with a sniff.
“I’m sorry brother…goodbye,” she said, before pulling the trigger, tears spilling from her eyes as she heard the gun go off, and the wolf slump against her chest, never to wake again.

I'd Rather Fail Then Never Really Know (Draconekaiju Universe)
Inspired by the song Die Trying by Art of Dying
Thunder crackled through the sky overhead, causing two little alicorns foals to scream in terror, the two running under the protective legs of an old unicorn, who was staring up at the beast who was sheltering him under her wing.
Unlike the three of them, she was not a pony, but instead she was of the race known as Draconequi, reality warppers who had been brought to the world of Equis to originally bring balance to the originally chaotic world.
Her body was covered in beautiful white fur, and she had the head and the back hooves of an equine. However, her forelegs ended in hands reminiscent of a dragon, and her tail and wings were like that of a dragon as well, though her tail ended in a great rainbow fin, and a similar fin ran from the back of her tail to the small of her back.
She had a mane as well, which billowed around her head, starting off a deep royal red near the base of her skull before taking on the colors of the rainbow near the tips.
But the most striking feature was her five horns. Like the unicorn and two alicorns she was sheltering, she had a unicorns horn which was situated at the center of her head. But unlike them, she had four more, two coming from behind hear ears, bearing a striking resemblance to deer antlers, and two more also coming from behind her ears, which curved down and alongside her mouth.
Another lighting strike sounded from the clouds above, causing the female draconequus to cringe a bit as she saw shapes moving within. “There here…”
“Then we shall face them together…”
“No,” said the draconequus, bending down to give the unicorn stallion a look, “I brought them here, it’s my responsibility to see that they are dealt with. You must protect our children.”
“But what about you?”
The draconequus smiled, leaning down and giving him a kiss before speaking, “Don’t worry, I am Faust, queen of my kind, none can conquer me. But if even one of them survives this battle, you must make sure that our children are there to confront it, for their harmony will balance the world.”
“But…”
“Trust me Starswirl,” said Faust, “You will understand…someday.”
Then, before he could protest further, Faust waved her hand, sending both him and the two alicorns into the far future, where they would be needed most.
Once that was done, she lifted herself to her full height, looking back at the black clouds above and letting loose with a deafening roar toward the sky, letting her challenge be heard.
Almost at once, her kin descended from the sky, hundreds upon hundreds of draconequi of every size and shape landing upon the ground around her, their landings causing rubble to fly up as their various appendages caused the ground underneath to crack.
She roared again, and then became enveloped in magic, growing in size till she reached her true height of 2,700 feet tall, towering over her kin as she let loose with another bellowing roar before charging at the thickest group of draconequi.
Many of them roared back, meeting her half way only to get swatted back by her tail as she spun at the last second, sending many of them flying back into the growing throng of draconequi behind them, flattening some and injuring others.
This caused the other draconequi to become enraged, many more charging her from all sides, only to be met with a shining barrier as she slammed her claws down into the ground.
She lifted her claws up as her kin battered at her barrier, growling as she pulled them to her chest before she flung them out to her sides, causing the barrier to change into a wave of harmful energy which blasted back those covering as well as the ones charging to pile on.
Knowing that would only stay a few, she breathed in deep, her tail, back fin, and mane beginning to glow before she let loose with rainbow flames, turning her head back and forth so as to hit as many targets as possible.
The draconequi roared in pain as they became covered in the flames, the harmonic energy in them doing more damage to them than any normal flame could.
Just as Faust was about to deliver another blast of flame, one of the draconequi struck hard, biting into her shoulder and causing her to roar in rage, her flames going wide and not hitting anything. With deft ears, she grabbed the offending creature by the head and yanked it off, grabbing both parts of its jaw and pulling till she ripped the creature in half, before using the torn halves against more oncoming attackers.
“COME ON!!!” she roared, stamping a clawed foot upon the ground as she looked at the hoard around her, her fangs bared as she opened her arms wide. “FACE ME ONE LAST TIME, AND ACCEPT YOUR END!!!”
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
Days Later:
The ground was strewn with the corpses of the dead, all of them lying in blood which had once been their own, but now it was mixed with the blood of their fallen kin, so much blood that the ground was five feet below its surface.
Standing in the midst of the carnage, a lone draconequus stood, her fur matted with blood and her claws caked with it, scars running all up and down her body.
It had taken her days to cause the carnage around her, though she wasn’t even winded, but she knew the battle was far from over, for one more of her kin hovered in the clouds above, watching her.
“WELL,” she roared up into the sky, “YOUR LITTLE PLAN DIDN’T WORK CRAVEN, NOW COME DOWN HERE AND FACE ME YOURSELF, OR ARE YOU TOO COWARDLY TO FACE YOUR QUEEN!!!”
Slowly, as if he had been waiting for her call, a great black draconequus descended from the sky, landing softly on the ground instead of violently like his kin before him.
He had a equines head like her bearing the horn of a goat and the horn of and an elk, but unlike her it was situated on a snake like body, and his limbs were all mismatched. His right foreleg was that of a lion, his left that of an eagle, his right foreleg the leg of a bull, and his left the leg of a dragon. And as for his wings, one was that of a great bird, while the other was that of a bat.
All his features were colored the same oily black, all save for his eyes, which were blood red, with no irises or pupils to speak of, and he stood near 4,000 feet tall, easily towering over Faust.
“They were no longer needed,” said the Craven, his voice a low rumble which gently shook the ground they stood on, though Faust seemed unfazed. “And besides, once you are dead, I will be able to re-create our race for the better, unlike you, one who would taint herself with the seed of lesser beings.”
“We are the lesser, for none of you truly embraced what this place could be, you instead let yourselves be corrupted by its darker side.”
“We did not become corrupted by it, we embraced it, you just failed to see what it has done for us!”
“And what is that?”
Craven stretched out his arms, the skies blacking and the ground rumbling as he spoke. “Why co-exist when you can bend the world to your will, why guide the world’s life forms when you can rule over them like gods!”
Faust stared for a moment, and then sighed, “I can see you will not see reason, so let us not waste anymore words.”
“Agreed,” said Craven, before his wings spread and he leapt forward, smashing into Faust with enough force to send a shockwave outward.
Faust roared, slashing him with her claws before bighting down upon his throat, causing him to roar in pain before he slammed down his fist into her head, causing her to release him as she roared in pain. He quickly followed up with a smack of his tail, before his throat bulged out as a ray of black light, Faust roaring in rage before unleashing her own flames, the two beams meeting and causing an explosion, sending the two draconequi off their feet and into the blood below.
Faust was quick to get back on her hooves, leaping upon Craven and beginning to viciously slash her claws into the male, causing him to roar before she blasted him in the face with her flames, causing him to actually cry out in agony as the flames licked his body.
However, before she was able to continue with her assault, Craven delivered a ferocious kick with his bull leg, sending Faust onto her back before leaping upon her and using his claws to rip into her.
However, before he could give her any serious wounds, her horn lit up, and quick as a flash, she shot her head up, driving her horn into his stomach before firing the spell she had been saving, blasting him off her and leaving his lower body in a scared and bloody mess.
However, much to Faust’s shock, he started to get up, so she unleashed with more flames, causing him to roared more, but managed to get up fully, energy actually beginning to leak from his body before he roared as black thunder bolts rained from the sky.
Faust was able to dodge the first few, but eventually she was hit by one, its dark energies sapping at her strength and causing her to stumble, leaving her open for a vicious strike from his tail. However, before he could pull his tail back, she bit onto it, allowing it to drag her to Craven which gave her the opportunity to swipe at him, tearing out his throat before hitting the ground and rolling back to her feat.
Much to her horror though, when she turned back she saw that Craven was still standing, blood oozing from his wounds as he sluggishly stepped forward and roared.
Roaring in defiance, Faust finally pulled out her trump card, six gems appearing around her and beginning to glow, before forming a spinning circle in front of her mouth as she unleashed a great cone of flame. She kept the blaze going for a long while, pouring as much of her magic into it as she could before finally stopping, staggering a bit as the flames slowly died out.
As she steadied herself, she heard a low grumble; looking on in horror as Craven slowly moved out of the flames, most of his flesh burned away leaving behind exposed muscles, organs, and bones. However, after only a few steps, his eyes finally rolled into the back of his head, the beast falling down and causing the blood around him to fly into the air, Faust sighing a bit before collapsing upon the ground as she heard the sound of a spell going off.
“By all that is holy.”
Groaning, Faust looked toward the sound, her eyes widening a bit as she spotted Starswirl standing upon one of the few hills that breached the surface of the blood around them. Groaning once more, she lifted herself from the blood, moving toward her mate before slowly sinking down, getting a good look at him.
He was much older than when she had seen him last, his once beautiful black main and tail now turned silver, and adorning his face was a silver beard.
“You came back,” said Faust, “Why…?”
“Cause I need your help,” said Starswirl, “A draconequus has appeared, and he’s enraged, for he found out about our daughters, and he plans to kill them for destroying his…his fun…”
Faust stayed still for a moment, then stretched out one of her hands, holding it open and then gesturing for the unicorn to get on. “Come, I shall show you how to combat him.”
ஜ۩۞۩ஜ
The going was slow, for Faust’s injuries, plus all the energy she had expelled to kill Craven, were finally adding up, and causing her to become sluggish. However, she was able to make it to her destination, lowering the unicorn down into a crevice before pointing to a cave, “Go in there…and tell me what you see.”
Starswirl nodded, and then moved inside, Faust waiting for his voice to reach her as he finally spoke. “It’s… it’s a tree, what is this?”
“It’s the Tree of Harmony,” said Faust simply, “I found it the first year I was here, long before the others fell to the dark temptations of chaos. It…it holds a power that our children will need, so please, burn this place into your mind, and when you go back, bring them here, they will...they will know what to do from there.”
She heard the sound of magic again, and then felt a small body nuzzle up against her face, looking down to see the stallion standing beside her. “What about you?”
Faust smiled, “I’ll be fine, I just need sleep…deep sleep, but I promise we shall meet again, some day.”
The stallion nodded, and then he vanished, leaving Faust alone as she sighed.
“Well…I hope he will forgive me that lie, but now, I must return what is not mine.”
She then lowered her hand once more; opening it and letting the crystals region with their tree. Then she sighed once more, before getting up slowly and heading away from the cave, covering several miles before finally stopping in a rocky area and lying down.
Then as the sun began to peak over the horizon, she breathed out one last breath, before turning entirely to stone, never to wake again.

“H...hello?”
Twilight looked around worriedly, not recognizing where she was as the darkness surrounded her, leaving her only the light which seemed to come from the little platform of rock she was standing on.
“So, you don't even recognize this place anymore, how pathetic.”
Twilight wheeled around, gasping when she saw a mirror behind her, showing her reflection staring back at her with hatred in its eyes, which unlike hers were red.
“S...Sage,” said Twilight, looking horrified as she backed away.
“Well it's so nice to be remembered, though we haven't really seen you in a while, why is that?”
“I...I'm sorry...it's just, I've been so busy with my friends I forgot....”
“LIAR!” roared Sage, a crack forming in the mirror as she began to pace within it. “You always knew we were here, yet you never visited, you thought you could forget about us as long as you focused on helping your friends!”
“It's not like that...” started Twilight, only to stop as another mirror formed, this one showing a version of her with bright blue eyes, a sad look on the reflections face as it spoke.
“Then why,” asked the reflection, “why did you ignore us?”
“You know why Bright Eyes...I...I was afraid....”
“Oh cut the crap,” said Sage as she looked toward Twilight, the mare looking terrified as Sage leaned against the mirrors cracked surface. “Daddy cant hurt you here, so why the hell are you keeping us locked away, haven't we suffered enough.”
As if on cue, more mirrors appeared, there occupants all raging as they surrounded Twilight, causing the mare to cower as she spoke. “But....but what about my friends, they....they'd never understand!”
“Tough shit Sparkle, they'll learn to live with us, after all they learned to live with you, now are you going to free us or not!”
“...I...I cant...”
“Then I'll just have to do it for you then,” said Sage, before slamming against the barrier and sliding onto the platform Twilight was standing on, the mare staring in shock at what she was seeing.
“W...what....you....you cant do that, that's impossible!”
“You keep forgetting, our magic has been growing stronger, so daddies little locks aren't as powerful as they once were, now stand down!”
Twilight, in a fit of panic, shot a beam of magic at Sage, the mare dodging out of the way before growling at her, for she had recognized the spell Twilight had cast. “You cant be serious, you want to trap me again, I...I thought we were sisters in this!”
“We...we are...” said Twilight fearfully.
“THEN WHY!!!” roared Sage, “YOU KNOW WHAT HE DID TO US!!! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT BASTARD OF A STALLION PUT US THROUGH, AND YOU KNOW HOW MUCH PAIN WE GO THROUGH WHEN WE ARE LOCKED AWAY, SO I WANT TO KNOW WHY!!!
“I....I know what he did,” said Twilight, the mare shaking as she spoke to her. “B...but I cant let you leave, not yet, not until I at least tell my friends....”
“And how long is that going to take, a week, a month, a fucking year, how long is it going to take for you to grow a spine and tell your friends about us, about who you really are!!!”
“I...I don't know.....”
“Then your just going to have to deal Sparkle, cause one way or another, I'm taking our body back!!!”
Then, before Twilight could react, Sage slammed her hooves down upon the ground, all the mirrors shattering at once and the others all falling down, Twilight staring in horror before getting hit by their combined magical blast, falling to the ground as the world went black.
*
In the waking world, Twilight's body laying perfectly still as light shimmered behind her eyelids, before finally they opened, the red irises revealing that Sage was now in control.
Slowly, she lifted herself up, taking a few experimental breaths before sighing in relief, smiling as she looked toward the rooms mirror. “It's been so long.”
She heard the door open then, turning to see Spike walking in with a tray of food and looking about to speak, but when he met her eyes he stopped in shock.
“Hello little one,” said Sage with a smile, “it's been a long time, hasn't it.”
“M....mom?”
Sage nodded, then watched as Spike dropped the tray and sprinted toward her, wrapping him up in a hug as he barreled into her and hugged her tight.
“I...I thought I would never see you again....”
“Shh, it's ok, it's ok, I'm here now, and the others are to.”
“Really...even...even Nebula?”
Sage nodded, “Yes, but I need you to do something for me ok, it's very important.
He nodded, causing her to smile as she spoke, “Good, then could you write to the princess and tell her that Sage requests her presence at Twilight's library, well need her if...if we want Twilight's friends to accept this.”
“I'll get on it right away,” said Spike, “do...do you want me to get Twilight's friends after I send the letter.”
“....I think that would be best, I can at least get the discussion started before Celestia gets here...at least I hope I can.”
Spike nodded, and then ran to Twilight's desk, writing up a quick letter before sending it off, and then sprinting for the door, only to stop to turn and smile back at Sage. “I...I'm glad your back mom.”
Then he left, leaving Sage alone as she began preparing herself, for she knew this would be one hell of a conversation, and she wanted to be ready.
After all, she wasn't the only one who had something to lose.

The More I Get Of You The Stranger It Feels (Equestrian Heroes Universe)
Inspired by the song Kiss From A Rose by Seal.
The Mysterious Mare Do Well landed upon the rocky outcropping of a cave, leaping down and heading inside before pressing a stone on the wall, the caves fake wall lowering behind her as she continued further down the tunnel. It took her a while, but finally she reached the end of the tunnel, entering her sanctuary and finally taking off her hat and mask.
When the mask was removed, the face of a young unicorn mare could be seen, her dark blue mane spilling out over her gray furred face and neck. Sighing, the mare took off the rest of her armored costume, putting it away before walking toward the computer which was the centerpiece of the room and speaking. “Synth, what’s the situation looking like after tonight?”
“Things are looking up for a change,” said a burly voice, the computer’s many screens lighting up and displaying various bits of information. “Both Public and Police opinions of you have skyrocketed after this latest battle with Phantom Horn, which has led to a plummet in sales of the Charge Cargo Daily.”
“I see, and the bad news?”
The A.I. sighed, knowing his master wasn’t content with just good news. “Well, the Elements of Harmony are still attempting to find out who you are, for they feel responsible for your activity, and they also want you to come forward with your true identity.”
The Mare sighed, “Didn’t you get a hold of them and explain the satiation, you know, the too many enemies and wanting to protect my family.”
“They got your message, but they sent one back, saying that they understand your concerns but you need not worry, they will work on a way to help keep your loved ones safe.”
“Hm, I guess that ploy didn’t work, we’ll just have to come up with something else to get them off our tails. Now, any more bad news?”
“Yes,” said Synth, “it seems the princesses have taken a personal interest in finding out who you are, especially princess Luna, for she seems to want to personally thank you for all you have done for the ponies of Charge Cargo.”
“…Dam, that’s going to make things a lot more hectic…that will be all for now Synth, you can power down.”
“Will do my lady.”
When he powered down, the mare got up, heading to the elevator and heading up, exiting the elevator to the main house, her butler walking up to her and presenting her a series of flowers. “A selection for the mistress this evening.”
“Beautiful as always Fine Cut,” said the mare, looking them over before grabbing a rose and heading off down the hall, exiting the mansion out its side door and heading into a little wooded area off to the side, walking a ways inside before finally stopping in front of a grave.
It was a simple stone, made from marble, and bearing no name, save for a cutie mark which looked like a galaxy.
She placed the rose on the grave, and then pulled the necklace that was hanging around her neck, looking at it for a moment before pressing upon the crystal, causing it to flash before something came out of it, taking the form of an alicorn.
“Hello Carla,” said the alicorn, “I see we're finally back home.”
“Yes,” said Carla, easing herself down onto the grass in front of the gravestone. “Sorry to have to keep you in the necklace so long Galaxia, Phantom Horn was just needed to be dealt with.”
“I know,” said Galaxia, “but at least I’m home now, so I’ll be able to rest for a time.”
“Well don’t get too comfortable,” said Carla, “We may be on the move again, with Phantom Horn in jail, the power vacuum left by him will no doubt increase our workload.”
Carla got up to leave then, but before she could, Galaxia cleared her throat. “Um…Carla, there is something I need to tell you.”
Carla turned around, giving her a look before she continued. “Look, you know what I was, after all it’s quite obvious due to how I look. I was an alicorn, and even though I’m dead…my life still flows within me. If…if we merge together again, like we have been doing, that life…my life, will go into you…making you like I was.”
Carla stood there a long moment, letting the information sink in till finally she spoke. “Like you…as in?”
“I’m not quite sure,” said Galaxia, “you could just gain my unending life…or you could get the whole package, you could become an alicorn, but we won’t know unless…unless you decided to merge with me again.”
“And if I don’t?”
“You will stay a mortal,” said Galaxia, “but you would also have to go back to the old days when you first became Mare Do Well, which means that most likely you would die due to injuries incurred by your chosen profession.”
“…I…I need some time to think.”

Hours later, Carla found herself sitting upside down upon one Charge Cargo’s many skyscrapers, her anti-gravity field keeping her firmly planted on the bottom of the ledge as she gazed at the city.
It was a frightening prospected, the idea that she might soon live forever, and maybe even have wings. She didn’t really know if she wanted that, but she also knew the other option was something she didn’t like to consider.
She remembered the earlier days, the bruising, the broken bones, the awkward questions. Even when she had her new suit made, it had only helped a little, especially when villains like Phantom Horn had begun popping up from Charge Cargo’s seedier underbelly.
She could go back to the way things were, but with the power vacuum following Phantom Horn’s defeat, it would most likely break her, and then there would be nopony left to defend Charge Cargo, even with all the new hero’s popping up lately.
“I guess it’s decided then,” she said out loud, looking toward the stone gargoyle perched above her, smiling at him as she spoke. “Thanks for sitting with me Rufus, always a pleasure.”

“Are you sure about this?”
“As sure as I can be, this is the only way to keep the ponies of Charge Cargo safe…I can’t just leave them defenseless because I don’t like the idea of…of becoming an immortal protector. I am Mare Do Well, I have to be what the city needs me to be, not what I want to be.”
“…Selfless to the end, very well, let’s get this over with.”
With that, she dived into the mares chest, Carla gasping as the sudden invasion caused a surge, and she rose slowly into the air, becoming surrounded by magic.
As the magic swirled around her, she felt a burning sensation crawl along her back, and then cried out in pain as two wings shot out from her back, and then cried out even more as a ray of light shot out into the skies of Charge Cargo, parting the clouds above.
