Here We Go Again

Cloudsdale High

A young colt laid in a soft bed with his muzzle buried in his pillow. He had a bright blue body color. And the was the other half of his body color resembled that of a puffy cloud. He looked like a piece of the sky itself was taking a lazy day to rest for a while. This young colt's name is Jay Jay and he is around fifteen years old, so like, mid teens. Jay Jay has been home schooled for most of his life. He did try to go through pre-k when he was younger, but, he had to be taken out of that shortly because his mother had to move again. And again when in Ponyville once when Jay Jay had just finished pre-k. Then again when they lived in Philidelphia. And again.. well, you get the idea by now. Jay Jay and his mother have moved from place to place for years now, and over those years, Jay Jay's mother had collected photos of him and her, some with his friends from the past, most with national monuments and other fascinating things like large leafs and super tall trees. Jay Jay had many cool trinkets around his room on shelves and bookcases that were easy to reach. Everything in his room were cherished memories, something that he enjoyed to collect.

"Jay Jay~" A soft heavenly voice filled the gentle cool morning atmosphere as Jay Jay slowly perked his ears and raised his head with a smile. She was a tall proud mare, her blue pelt was just as bright as Jay Jays, or rather his was just as bright as her. He even shared her white puffy cloud hair, although her hair style was more of a long clean style. Her tail was flowing freely all the way down to her hooves. She and Jay Jay also shared the same eye color, every time she looked into his eyes she felt as if she were looking into a mirror. The cutie mark she proudly showed off was a painted streaking cloud.

Symbolizing that she loved to be artistic in a calm gentle way. Her real name was Cloudstreak but Jay Jay clearly knew her as mom.

"Mmm..." He let out a yawn and rubbed the sleep from his eyes "Good morning mom... Did you sleep well?" He kept his eyes sleepily closed as he lazily laid his head back down.

His mother smiled and opened his curtains with one swift movement, Jay Jay could feel the waking sun's heat tickle his face and warm his body as he shifted around in bed. The mare let out a little sigh of joy and sat on the bed beside him, gently running her hoof along his mane "Yes I did. Now, it's time to wake up Jay Jay, you know today is very important."

"I know.... I'm just so nervous. We've lived here for a little over a year now but... Every time I am put in school we always move. Are we going to move this time too?"

His words seemed to upset his mother a little bit as she slowly stopped smoothing out his mane, letting out another sigh but this time it wasn't as happy as before. "Well, I hope we don't move away this time Jay Jay. Cloudsdale is a very nice place and there are plenty of jobs around that need to be done so, well I'll do my best to keep us here this time." She smiled and pat his shoulder before getting up. "Well, for now we need to get you ready and fed so you can have the best first day at Cloudsdale High."

With a little groan he sat up and sleepily slid out of bed. He was rather tall for his age, almost twice the size of an average pony but not quite there. Jay Jay headed to the bathroom as he began to clean his mane with a well used brush. After that he splashed water on his face and headed out into the living room where he stumbled against the couch and tripped over the coffee table with a grunt. Jay Jay was pretty clumsy, but not because he was tall or because furniture was constantly moved around in the small apartment. But because he is blind, Jay Jay has been blind since birth. He can't see the pictures in his room, but he feels happy just knowing they are there. He doesn't know what the cool trinkets are, but he enjoys finding new things that feel different than the last.

As Jay Jay and his mother ate a well prepared hashcakes, freshly sliced tomatoes, and orange juice they talked about things to do after school. Like, where to go to dinner or how to celebrate the first day. When Jay Jay was ready to leave he and his mother exited the apartment and headed down a rather empty street. Most of the other pegasi where flying, but neither Jay Jay and Cloudstreak were. They preferred to walk together most of the time and didn't mind the odd looks or feelings they got.

"Well Jay Jay, there it is, Cloudsdale High... Nervous?" She playfully prodded his side with her hoof and then held him close to her, giving him a tight hug as she kissed his forehead. "Promise to be careful? It's a new environment and all.. So watch out for random tables or benches ok?" She smiled softly.

He nodded quietly and gently laid his head against her neck, closing his eyes as he felt a wave of relief and anxiety wash over him. As he waved goodbye to his mother, and after she led him to the front of the school, she left to go to her first job interview.

As Jay Jay walked into the school he was careful to keep his ears perked, listening for anyone around him. Surprisingly, there were a lot of colts and mares chatting and laughing together. There were way many more voices here than at a pre-k in Ponyville or a middle school in Phillidephia. He felt pressured as some of the ponies nearby gasped as he carefully walked by, he could feel their eyes on him as he lowered his head and quickened his pace. Suddenly he bumped into somepony and stumbled over him, falling literally face first on the ground with his rear sticking up high in the air. Jay Jay's face burned brightly with embarrassment as he slowly got up and tried to find whoever he bumped into, his ears flattening back as ponies giggled and whispered to one another.

"S-Sorry uh..." He stammered as he spoke and lowered his head more, wincing as his nose pinged with a little pain, he felt a warm liquid gently streaming from his nose, he knew he had a bloody nose.

"Woah there budy, you alright? Oh man your nose is bleeding. You might want to go to the nurse's office for that or go to the restroom and clog it up with a paper towel or something."

Jay Jay opened his eyes in confusion and shuffled aimlessly.

The pony spoke again, judging by his voice he was a colt. "Hey there, that's the way to the gym. You must be new here. Let me help you around." He pat his wing to yours and began to lead him to the nurse, naturally Jay Jay stuck close to his side. The colt thought it was a little odd but didn't say anything about it "The first day is always unsettling. But don't worry, everypony here is really nice and easy to get along with. Just don't go making anyone mad or annoyed with you and you'll be fine."

"I-I uh... Thank you.. uh...?" Jay Jay turned his gaze down in embarrassment, he didn't know anyone here. He felt like an alien here among everyone else.

"My name is Sure Ace, but my friends call me Ace. I'm a senior this year." Ace said matter-of-fact like. Ace had Gorgeous sea blue eyes. He was a tanish broad pony with a sandy blonde mane and tail. He wasn't as tall as Jay, only standing at about his shoulder height. Ace was a strong athletic looking colt, and he was wearing a letter jacket. The pins on his jacket symbolized Track and Field, Fine Arts such as Orchestra and Choir, and the last pin he had symbolized Academics. As Ace led Jay Jay to the nurse lots of ponies either said "Sup Ace!" or "Woah, who's the blue giant!" Ace just replied respectfully to them and kept leading Jay Jay to the nurse.

"Blue?" You couldn't help but question it, every time he heard a color it always confused him.

"Yeah, the color of your body." He laughed softly, slowing down a bit as it finally hit him "Wait a minute, you're Jay Jay, the blind colt right?"

Jay Jay's eyes widened in surprise that the colt knew him and nodded softly. "Y-Yeah, how did you know that?"

Ace chuckled and continued walking "How did I not s-, erm, notice it before? Sorry about that man. Oh, and I've been chosen to help you get around the school grounds. We have most of the class periods together so it won't be too hard. The only class you and I don't share is English class. I got done with that stuff long ago." He smiled.

Jay Jay felt a bit more comfortable now knowing someone was here to help him, then suddenly he choked a bit "Who else knows about me?" The worry in his eyes was enough to tell Ace that he was nervous and a bit scared.

"Not too many ponies, we know you've been home-schooled for a while now so we thought that if more people knew the more anxious you'd be, so we kept it only among the school board and the link crew ponies. If you choose to make friends with anyone else that's on you so don't be afraid to meet some ponies."

Jay Jay nodded quietly and kept following Ace.

Once they reached the nurse Jay Jay was sat down on a soft table like thing as Ace stood beside him, by now the bleeding had stopped for the most part but it was still required to see the nurse about bloody injuries.

"Hey nurse Henley, this here is Jay Jay. He kinda, well, fell over me and got a bloody nose." Ace chuckled as the mare trotted over.

She had cherry red hair and a gentle pink bubble gum coat. Her eyes were a warm red color and her face was sprinkled in freckles. She wore a white headband to hold her long mane out of her hair and a really soft fabric white coat. She was quite short but her spirits and humors were tall. "Well lookie who we have here, this is Jay Jay isn't it?" She smiled as she reached a hoof up and held Jay Jay's chin as she looked at his nose, causing him to freeze up nervously. "Oh why it's not too bad, let me just clean the blood away and give you some tissue. You should be fine after that." She gently pat his cheek before walking away to get a wet rag and a box of tissues. When she came back she gently rubbed the damp rag against Jay Jay's nose and dabbed against dry blood before wiping it away. The rag made his nose tickle as he scrunched up his muzzle and giggled softly. The mare smiled and twisted up a tissue before stuffing it up into Jay Jay's nose. That caught him off guard and he suddenly sneezed making the tissue shoot out of his nose as he wriggled his muzzle.

"What the hay was that?" He rubbed his nose with his hoof and confusion filled his eyes.

"Sorry dear, I should've told you. That was the tissue to help keep the blood in." She smiled again, this time letting Jay Jay know before she carefully put another clean wadded up tissue in his nostril.

Jay Jay wriggled his muzzle again and tilted his ears back "This feels weird, is this what it is always like to have a hurt nose?"

Ace nodded "Pretty much. You'll get used to a tissue after a while, like it's not even there." He pat Jay Jay's side and laughed a bit "So, how's your first day of school?"

Jay Jay smiled "Well I made two new friends... Right?" Confusion flashed on his face yet again as he turned his gaze around the room "I-It's been a few years since I've made a friend so I don't know how to well... Do that" He laughed softly and rubbed his neck in embarrassment.

"You're a pretty good cot so yeah, we can be friends." Ace smiled what seemed like a trademark smile for him but Jay Jay was literally too blind to notice.

Jay Jay relaxed softly and let out a sigh of relief, slowly standing on his hooves "So, where now Ace? O-Oh um, is it ok if I call you Ace?"

"Of course man. Like I said, my friends call me Ace." He touched his wing to Jay Jay's again and led him out of the nurse's office with a farewell to the kind mare.

"You can call me Jay if you want to." Jay Jay followed Ace as he led him to their first class period, directing him to another table but this one was used for school work, not medical reasons. The room was quite spacey and seemed empty, besides the many chairs and tables and ponies who were talking to one another. It was a little awkward for Jay to sit at the smallish table, his chest well above the flattop. He could feel the eyes of other ponies on him and he slowly lowered his head as he felt pressured. Suddenly, an overly energetic pony dove in between Ace and Jay, squeezing herself in-between the two.

"Heya Ace! How's it going today?" She was a shorter pony, her voice a little squeaky with joy.

"Not too bad Sugar Rush, just showing the new guy around and stuff."

"New guy huh?" She looked up at Jay and smiled widely, prodding him in the leg playfully "How are you liking the school? Pretty great huh?" She was a shortish pink bodied pony with short bobby cotton candy blue hair. Her eyes were two different colors. The left eye was a beautiful bright green while her right was a dark purple. Her wings were a bit messy. The primary feathers of her wings where pink while the secondaries were cotton candy blue like her mane. If Jay Jay were standing she'd only be able to reach the base of his legs while she stood beside him. Her cutie mark was gummy bear with a smiley face. It symbolized her sweet sweet love for friendship and joy.

Jay Jay stammered a bit as he tried to find his words, all the voices and feeling of being watched put pressure on him. Suddenly the mare gasped as she reached up and held Jay's cheeks tightly, pulling his head down to her level (which made Jay wince softly as he knelt down) and stared into his eyes "Are you BLIND?! Wow!!! What's it like? How many times have you fallen into a hole? What's the last thing you remember seeing?!"

Jay Jay backed away and lifted his head, worry flashing in his eyes "U-Uh.... Well yes, I'm blind.. Uh... I was born blind so uh... Well I've never seen anything." The sudden questions took him by surprise and hurt him mentally to think about, he slowly turned his gaze down to his hooves making his poofy cloud hair cover his eyes. He knew it, he knew every pony in the room was staring at him now. Jay Jay wasn't used to the attention at all. He hated it.

The feeling that multiple ponies are watching him made him gently begin to tremble. Ace noticed this and stepped between him and the mare Sugar Rush.

"Hey now, keep it down Rush. It's his first day, not his first torture session. Let the young colt settle in alright."

Relief  ran though Jay as he slowly moved back into his spot, letting his head fall onto the table as he groaned.

There was another voice, a soft laughing from nearby. Jay Jay's head shot up as he heard the voice and he looked around helplessly "Another pony? How many are at this school." He sighed and laid his head down again "I want to go home already.."

Ace smiled softly and patted his back "Don't worry Jay, you'll be alright this is only the first day. Not the last." That brought a little hope to Jay's gloomy expression.

The mysterious mare that laughed spoke up "Don't worry kid, the days here normally go by quickly." She was a beautiful mare. Her body color was a deep wine red color. And her hair was also a dark deep redish color. Her eyes though were purple like a wine grape. The cutie mark she wore proudly was a stage light with a script in the middle of it, meaning, she enjoyed acting and writting her own plays. She was the same height as Ace and they seemed to be close cause Jay heard a like puckering sound with a chuckle from Ace.

"Good morning Scarlett. This is Jay Jay, he's the new colt I told you about." Ace looked at Jay and kneed him softly in the shoulder to get his attention "Jay, this is Scarlett. She knows almost every pony here in Cloudsdale High so if you want to meet some ponies she's the one to go to."

Jay lifted his head and turned his gaze towards Scarlett, perking up his ears "You've heard of me too?"

She nodded softly "Yes, yes I do. You've been all over the place huh Jay? Your mom came in and explained your situation and how you may feel unsettled here at Cloudsdale High but you shouldn't worry too much, lots of ponies fit right in here." Her voice was kind but she spoke loud and proud.

Jay turned his head again and as his eyes met hers he froze, feeling a spark of curiosity all around him. "Well uh.. Thank you, all of you." Jay finally smiled and slowly settled down.

Ace, Scarlett, and Sugar Rush all took their seats at the table and pratically took turns letting out yawns or mumbles of boredom. The class was all about biology which was odd. Jay thought he had passed algebra in middleschool back in Philidelphia. But, he didn't fight it, Jay rather liked to hear about how things in life worked so he just went with it.

The next class that Jay had was English class with Sugar Rush. He was glad there was someone he knew in that class. But instead of tables they had chairless desks for the ponies to sit at. Jay felt pretty awkward sitting there, his back was constantly pressed again the front of Sugar Rush's desk and his chest was pressed against his desk. He could barely even move through the rows because the desks were so close. Jay fell over about five or six times trying to just get though the first three rows. He and Sugar Rush were placed in the fourth and fifth row. As the lecture went on about what to expect this year the teacher noticed Jay.

"I see we have a new student. Well, I am Mr. Flare. Would you like to come up and introduce yourself to the class?" Mr. Flare was a tall well dressed pony. His full name was Citrus Flare. He hade a flawless orange colored pelt and a vine green mane and tail color. His tail was short and wavy, the same style was decorated in his mane. The colt had a puffy green mustache too which he heard some students joking about it being a catipillar. Jay would have to ask Ace what that was later. For now, he was extremely nervous.

"O-Oh uh, sure Mr. Flare.." Jay awkwardly scooted out of the desks and shakily stood up, slowly heading towards where he heard Mr. Flare's voice. Jay constantly stumbled over backpacks or desks that poked out a bit, causing the class to giggle. Once Jay finally made it up there he sat down where he felt right and cleared his thoat. "H-Hello... My name is Jay J-" he was suddenly cut off by a tap on his shoulder

"Jay Jay, the class is that way" Mr. Flare said.

"What way?" Jay suddenly blushed with embarrassment as he perked his ears up turning his head left and right. He had introduced himself to the chalk board.

Mr. Flare sighed a bit "No one likes a Class Clown Jay Jay, face the class please."

Jay Jay slowly turned around turning his gaze down to his hooves "Well Uh.. My name is Jay Jay and uh.. I've been all around Equestria." He heard a few gasps and turned his gaze up perking his ears, knowing that some of the ponies had questions boling inside of him.

Mr. Flare's brow knotted in confusion, and then it struck him. "Wait a minute, you're that Jay Jay? My apologies, I completely forgot I had you in my class. Well, take you're seat. And be careful."

Jay nodded and slowly made his way back, the only reason he knew where he sat was cause he could smell Sugar Rush's thick coat of sweet candy from all the way across the room. When he settled down Mr. Flare got the class's attention.

"Everypony, This is Jay Jay. He is a new student here at Cloudsdale High and if he seems to be struggling at any time at all please, give him a helping hoof. I'm sure he would appreciate it very much.

Some of the ponies kept murmuring about him throughout the class period.

Once class finished Jay Jay waited at his desk for Ace to come. Sugar Rush had given him a rather hyper goodbye before darting out of the classroom. When Ace finally came he took Jay to their third class period, Physical Education. While it was an odd class for Jay to be taking it was required by the school that he have at least one semester of P.E. Jay had to sit our for the first day which he didn't mind too much. Ace explained to the coach that Jay was the new student that had a special case which made Jay feel somewhat singled out. Halfway through P.E. Ace led him to get lunch where they met up with Scarlett and Sugar Rush. When they all had their food and a table to sit at they began to talk.

"So Jay Jay, how're you liking Cloudsdale High so far?" It was Scarlett asking the question.

"Well, it definitely is a hoofful.. I haven't been in school since seventh grade. Middle school is nothing like high school." Jay blushed with embarrassment as they all laughed joyfully and mumbled in agreement.

"Well if there's anything we can do to help let us know alright?" Scarlett brushed her wing against his before eating some grapes.

Ace nodded in agreement "We're here for you dude."

Sugar Rush was busy deciding which desert to eat, a littlw drool drippling from the corner of her muzzle as she looked at all the treats "Oh yeah... These all look tasty"

Jay laughed a bit and took a bite out of a piece of celery. The fresh food surprised him "Woah... I thought school food was bad? This is still fresh." He ate more and more, happily enjoying his liunch now.

"Yeah, most of the things here are very fresh. The olny things that aren't fresh really are the pickles or the canned foods because those require time to transport and process and yada yada ya." Ace laughed and took a bite out of a apple slice.

Sugar Rush had eventually gave up choosing and ate them all at once, letting out a muffled "MmmmMM!" as she enjoyed her lunch.

Scarlett ate quietly and yawned "I could really go for a nap right about now."

All the ponies nodded in agreement. When the lunch bell rang they all said their goodbyes and Ace brought Jay back to P.E.

"Hey Ace.. What do you guys do in P.E. class?" Jay turned his gaze towards him curiously.

"Well we run, to wing ups, stretches, play games, and fly laps around the track." Ace smiled, he loved to do all of those things.

Jay's interest skyrocketed "Fly laps?? So... do you think I could fly laps? I mean, if someone wanted to help me with the track thing for a while I'm sure I could memorize what to do after some time practicing?"

Ace smiled brightly and tapped his wing agianst his "Yeah dude, and I'll help you too! I'm sure coach wouldn't mind."

After Ace spoke with coach he took him into the locker room to get Jay his gym clothes. It wasn't very surprising to Jay, but the largest size they had barely fit him. It was also meant for bigger ponies so it was really baggy. Eventually Jay got a uniform that was still a little small but Jay didn't mind too much, the clothes weren't baggy and annoying. After a while it did feel better to wear though. When Ace got to the track he suddenly disappeared from Jay's side which freaked him out.

"A-Ace? Where did you go?" Jay's hooves planted in the ground as he perked his ears.

"Above you dude. Here the track is in the sky, you gotta fly to get to it." He smiled and flew back down to Jay, landing beside him softly "You wanted help so I'll be by your side the entire time, promise."

Jay tunred his gaze on him in confusion "Wait, you mean we don't practice flying here?"

Ace looked a bit confused by the question but shrugged "Well here we fly laps as fast as we can trying to get a better mile speed time. Why do you need to practice?"

Jay looked down at his hooves in embarrassment and went quiet, tightning his wings to his body as he lowered his head.

Ace seemed taken aback but he slowly nodded "You never learned how to fly huh?" He thought quietly to himself and began to nod "Well, better late then never. How well can you fly?"

Jay lowered his head more and let his ears fall limp "Uh.... I don't know. I haven't flown in years."

Ace smiled and brushed his wing against Jay's again "That's alright, we'll start with the basics. Lets fly about, a quarter of the track? We'll stay close to the ground though. Think you can handle that?"

Jay nodded in confusion "I don't know how much that is." He smiled nervously and stretched out his long wings, feeling the sunlight's warmth seep into his feathers. Jay just realized they were outside. The scents around here certainly did not smell like the park or the city.

Ace nodded and stood beside Jay stretching out his wings, gently touching his wingtip to Jay's. "alright, stay close to me and take it easy ok? We wouldn't want you getting another nose bleed." He smiled and lifted off the ground carefully, Jay followed him flapping his wings wildly.

"Why do we need to fly anyway? I've walked everywhere me whole life" Jay panted softly as he got level with Ace, his movements wavy and sloppy.

"Just take it easy for now and ride it out. You'll be ok, I'm here beside you." He touched the tip of his wing to Jay's again and began to lead him forward.

Jay calmed down for a while before a sudden gust of wind blew in and up over the school. His large wings caught hold of the gust and he was sent higher up into the air before he clamped his wings close to his body and fell back to the ground in a piled heap of panting and wheezing. Jay tried again after he settled down, this time his wings locked in place and he glided far away from Ace before ramming into the school. He failed several times, falling in all directions and at all angles. Landing on his back, face, plot, both sides about five times each, and one time he even did the splits. After that he gave up for the day and hobbled back into the school with Ace. After Jay got undressed and assigned a locker next to Ace to keep his stuff safe, he and Ace went to hit the showers. Which was odd to Jay, normally showers felt good so he didn't know why anyone would want to hit one. Ace gave him a towel and a pat on the back before leading him into the showers where he started one for Jay and then himself.

"Nice job today, you may have fallen but you kept getting back up. Well, until you did the splits." He laughed as he scrubbed soap through his mane and tapped his foot against the cool tile soflty. Beginning to whistle to a little tune in his head.

Jay perked his ears up as Ace squirted a small glob of soap on his mane and he began to scrub his mane. Jay backed away in embarrassment "I can wash my own mane... Thank you though." He began to thouroughly scrub the soap into his mane as he listened to Ace whistle. Closing his eyes to keep soap from getting into his eyes. When the other colts came in from P.E. they headed straight to the showers and some of them whistled, saying something about fresh hay and the next victem. Jay tilted his head in confusion as he washed the soap out of his mane and shrugged. When Ace was done he lead Jay out, Jay had finished way before him. They both dried themselves off with the towels. Jay had to admit it did feel good to shower. Suddenly there was a cracking sound and Jay felt a stinging pain in his plot. He jumped up and turned his head left and right wildly in confusion. Suddenly there was another smack and his left hip hurt. Jay sat down and rubbed his hip as some colts laugh.

"He's completely clueless! What a noob!" Another crack smacked Jay in his wings and he yelped to that one, wings for a pegasus were very sensitive. The colts errupted in laughter. Suddenly they stopped when there was a sudden sound of hooves clacking against the tile and a sound of grunts before something was slammed against a locker. Ace had tackled into the colt and he was holding him up against the lockers.

"What are you doing? That is no way we treat one of our own." He held the colt against the locker tightly and the cold stammered for an excuse before Ace threw him down and went to help Jay up. Jay recognized his scent and slowly stood, his groin still hurt from the splits he did and he stumbled a bit.

"Why are you shielding him? He's such a clutz. He can't even fly!" The colts laughed again.

Ace looked at them with a heavy scold, shutting up every one of them. "Jay Jay here isn't like evreypony else. He's blind you twats. And he flies tens times better than you." He led Jay away from the group without another word and dropped off the towels, bringing Jay to their fourth hour.

"Thanks.." Jay looked down, wincing as his hips hurt again "Man my body is sore... Is that what it's always like to fly?"

"Yeah sorta, but you'll get used to it eventually. Sorry about those jerks. They shouldn't be bothering you from now on." Ace put his wing across Jays back, having to extend his wing to its limits to reach him, and smiled "Ready for Equestrian History?"

When the day was over Jay waited outside the school for his mom to come bring him home. Scarlett was just walking outside when she spotted Jay Jay.

"Hey kid, what're you doing out here?" She walked over to him and gently touched her hoof to his shoulder, tilting her head.

"Oh, I'm waiting for my mom to come walk me home." He looked towards her direction and smiled happily. "She'll be here soon, she told me there were some job interviews for her to go to today."

"And do you know when she's gonna come?" Scarlett looked around trying to spot anypony, but nopony was around.

"She didn't tell me a time but I know I need to wait." Jay turned his gaze back out over the horizon and perked his ears to the surrounding sounds.

"Well, I'll wait here with you until she comes, alright?" Scarlett sat down beside Jay and looked out with him. Smiling "What is it like though? To be blind that is"

"Well," Jay thought for a moment "I guess you would call it natural. To me it's just like every other day but. I guess I can hear better than most and all?"

"Yeah I guess so huh. Well, seeing, its the same. As a natural feeling I think. Like, how you hear or smell great things I get to soak them into my mind with an image. Like a picture."

Jay smiled and looked to her again "My room is covered in pictures, my mom helpe me hang them up. She says they're a sweet reminder for her and the great memories we share. It's also pretty fun, when I describe a memory but touch, sent, and taste, she can easily pick it out. It's kinda a way for us to really remember something through both the blind and the visual." He smiled more and lifted his head to the sky.

"Sounds like fun" Scarlett smiled softly as she listened to the noises around them.

After about two hours of Scarlett and Jay talking Scarlett stood up "Well, I don't think she's coming anytime soon.. Would you like me to lead you home? Or would you like to come hang out at my home for a while?"

Jay looked up at her with confusion "Well.. I've never been to a friend's house without my mother.."

"How long has it been since you've gone to a friend's house?" Scarlett looked up at him curiously

"Erm.. Uh, like... Err... Thirteen years?" Jay looked down at his hooves and sighed a bit "I spend a lot of time with my mom, not much time with friends. I-I mean I don't hate my mom, she's awersome! I just liked to play with more than one pony. And imaginary friends don't count anymore." Jay giggled and slowly stood up "My mom told me the apartment name and room number if I ever got lost. We are at... uh... Sleepin' N' Hay appartments at room numberrrr.... 47?"

"Was that a question?" Scarlett laughed a bit and looked up at him again "How about this, we can go to the apartment and ask the manager if he'll let your mom know where you're at and then you can come chill at my place for a bit. I don't know you well enough to leave you home alone." It was awkward for her to say that, mainly because she's never had to say that before.

Jay nodded softly and followed Scarlett as she put her wing on his and led him to the apartments. Once they had talked with the manager and gotten to Scarlett's house she plopped on a couch in the living room. Jay stood beside the couch awkwardly and perked his ears as he raised his head, this place certainly smelled a lot different than the home and school. It smelled pretty fresh to him.

"What's that smell?" He sniffed the air again and turned his head "It smells like... Lemons and oranges.."

"That's probably just the freshener my mom uses." Scarlett shrugged and gently began to rub her hooves "Man my hooves are killing me.."

"Mine are just fine." Jay flashed confusion in his eyes.

Scarlett looked up at him a bit annoyed and then smirked for a bit "Alright then. Since you're so tough." She stood up to lead Jay to the couch and sat him down, then she laid on the couch beside him.

Jay frowned in confusion, he didn't really know what was going on. Then, Scarlett sighed in a relaxing tone as she laid her legs in his lap and laid against the soft couch cushions and smiled "Scarlett what are you doing?" Jay said in clear confusion.

"Me? Oh, I'm doing nothing. You on the other hand are going to rub my hooves." Scarlett let out a little snicker, raising her forelegs behind her head as she rested. She didn't seem to mind the position she was in, Scarlett knew Jay couldn't sneak a peak even if he wanted to.

Jay felt even more confused now and slowly put his hooves on hers, rubbing them one at a time. "Uh... Why am I doing this?" He didn't mind rubbing his mom's feet when they got sore, but that was his mom, this is someone he just met today. And she is a mare!

"Because," Scarlett looked at him "I walked around to your apartment and then to my home for you. So the least you could do is massage my aching hooves.

Jay nodded quietly, he was pretty easy to order around. Scarlett relaxed again and laid her head down as Jay rubbed her hooves.

"So, how're you liking the new school?" Scarlett hummed quietly

"Oh uh, it's nice... besides the colts in P.E. class." Jay closed his eyes as he worked her hooves, gently pressing against the bottom of them now. He knew what he was doing, and by now he didn't mind it. Jay was just happy to be able to spend time with a friend now.

"What did they do?" Scarlett sat up a bit and gently pulled her hooves away "And thank you for that, I feel better already."

Jay smiled and relaxed on the couch, perking his ears "Well, I don't know if it was them or not, but after Ace and I showered from practicing I felt a bunch of stings on my plot and a bunch of loud snapping sounds.. Weird huh?"

"Oh, those colts. Yeah Ace complains about them all the time, he doesn't like what the do." A new curiosity overcame Scarlett "What were you prcticing?"

"Oh um.. I don't really know how to fly so.. Ace was showin me how to and all... I fell like at least sixty times" Jay laughed nervously and rubbed his hip "The last whacky stunt made me do the splits. It still hurts a bit too."

Scarlett burst into laughter and fell back down against the couch, covering her mouth as she slowed down into a giggle "Wow, I've never heard of that before."

"Y-Yeah, one for the memories." Jay smiled softly, turning his gaze towards Scarlett and again their eyes met.

Scarlett stared back up at him and blushed softly as she leaned in, it felt like an eternity had gone by for her. Then when Jay blinked she stopped and pulled away before she got too close, almost forgetting he was blind. She had been used to those moments with Ace when he stared into her eyes and they began to make out. Scarlett got a little too relaxed and nearly fell for it again. And Ace wasn't even here.

"So, what would you like to do till your mom comes to get you?" Scarlett asked him as she sat on the couch beside Jay.

He shrugged softly "I don't know, I've never been in a house before." He perked his ears up as he listened to their surroundings.

"Well, here it is, a house. This is I guess what it is like for everypony else. I mean, not exactly the same but same concept. Would you like a grande tour?" She joked softly

"Sure!" Jay turned his gaze to her again smiling like a child, his wings began to shuffled with excitement "Where do we start?"

Scarlett looked at him confused and tilted her head "Well.. That was a joke Jay" She giggled and stretched softly before standing up and bumping her hoof against  his knee causing him to flinch "Come on, I know today was the first day of school but we have some biology homework to do and I'm sure you have Enlgish homework."

Jay sat there on the couch with a blank expression before tilting his head slowly to the right, his ears cutely flopping over "Homework..?"

Scarlett looked up at him and sighed "Did you leave it in class? I know you, well can't see, but surely you can remember?"

"Yeah I can remember just fine but, well I wasn't given any homework. Nopony told me or came to me and hooved it over directly." Jay flushed with embarrassment and shuffled on the couch "Should I have asked for it?"

"I guess this time it's ok, it is your first day. But next time don't forget ok?"

Jay nodded as he carefully got off the couch. Scarlett led him to what mustve been the kitchen because the smell of vegetables and food was a lot stronger in here. They sat at a table, Scarlett in a chair and Jay on the ground. He was tall enough to not need a chair. The two studied for three to four hours before there was finally a knocking on the door. Scarlett left to go check it and Jay followed her curiously, hoping it was his mother. He liked to talk with Scarlett and study with someone who wasn't so pushy as his mom but he did miss her after the long day.

Scarlett opened the door and surely enough Cloudstreak was standing there "Hi uh, the manager back at the apartments said Jay Jay was here?"

"I'm back here mom" Jay smiled widely and poked out from behind a wall that he had recently walked in to.

"Yeah, sorry he wasn't at the school or the apartment. He didn't know the room number clearly so we just told the manager he'd be here. He's really good at studying too." Scarlett stepped aside to let CLoudstreak in.

Cloudstreak hurried inside nearly pushing Jay over as she checked him for bruises "How was your day? Did it go alright? Are you ok?"

"Mom mom I'm fine, I just... fell sixty some times and did the splits today, I'm alright I swear" Jay smiled and nussled against his mom as she hugged him "How was work? Did you get any of the jobs?"

"Yeah, yeah, I got a job at the Bakery." Cloudstreak looked at Scarlett who was standing nearby laughing a bit "O-Oh, Sorry about all this. I didn't expect to be at the Bakery for so long. My name is Cloudstreak, I'm Jay Jay's mother. Well, obviously." She smiled sheepishly.

Scarlett nodded "I don't mind, Jay is a good friend. If you want I could bring him here after school until you set a time and schedual? I don't mind really, my mom is always home but normally she's busy downstairs painting or she doing something else random." Scarlett smiled politely "It wold really be no trouble, plus it gives me a reason to study."

Cloudstreak looked at her a bit shocked "I-I don't know.. I mean, Jay Jay is kind of a handful, not in a bad way just. Well we've never done a thing like this before so I'm kinda worried is all."

Scarlett chuckled "It's no problem at all, promise. If you're comfortable with it I can bring our other two friends to study along with him."

Cloudstreak lifted her head and smiled "He's already made friends?" She looked at Jay gently smoothing down his mane "Would you like to keep doing this?"

Jay nodded happily "It was a lot of fun! But uh, for now I'd like to get home and rest."

The two mares laughed and nodded in agreement before everypony said their goodbyes. When Cloudstreak and Jay Jay got home they talked all about their day over dinner. Cloudstreak spoke about how the Bakery accepted her application and showed her how to work the ovens and to bake. By the end of the day she claimed to have backed sixty cookies, two loaves of bread, and sixteen muffins. She had even been allowed to bring home some bread for Jay and her to snack on together. Jay talked to his mom about how his day went. Explaining how he met Scarlett, Ace, and Sugar Rush. Cloudstreak was already checking his nose for bruises and blood. When she was satisfied that he was safe she settled down and let him continued. He then talked about how Ace helped him fly, that really threw his mom off.

The last time he flew he got half of his right ear torn off by a Pegasus who was zooming by racing one of their friends. They were going to fast that before they could react the once toddler Jay Jay flew up from the park while his mom was distracted with ducks. When Jay Jay got in their path the ponies hoof clipped his ear, since they were going so fast it tore off instantly. They were lucky enough to catch Jay Jay as he fell so no other damage was done.

Jay could feel his mother's worried eyes glued to him and he sighed "Mom I'm safe this time. Ace was there with me to keep me from going to far or too high."

She settled down yet again and they finished their dinner in silence. When they finished Cloudstreak cleaned the plates and led Jay to his room before tucking him in, he felt a little awkward still being tucked in to bed after all these years but it did help soothe his sore body.

Cloudstreak laid on the bed beside him as she gently smoothed out his mane. Jay rested his head on her chest fluff and closed his eyes softly as he listened to her hum a soft tune. Before they knew it they both had fallen asleep, their days equally tough and tiring. The moonlight caressed the two ponies in a tranquil moment, the night sky filled with life as the stars sparkled cheerfully. Mother and son sleeping together, feeling safe and protected in one another's arms. A shadowy mare's face reflected across the window that was bright with moonlight and she smiled softly, surrounding the two in a gentle blue and purple sparkling mist to give them peaceful dreams. As the mist disappeared, so did she.
