DeathGrind: The Story of How Luna Became Hardcore
"Ugh, I'm so bored," groaned Princess Luna. She had spent the whole day so far just staring out onto the beautiful terrace that was below her bedroom window. At first, Luna had been thoroughly amused watching the squirrels in the terrace fighting over what appeared to be an acorn. These squirrels were always in the terrace but this was the first time that Luna had given any serious attention to these squirrels. Celestia had left before Luna woke up that morning and she didn't leave Luna a list of things to do around the castle. As a result, Luna spent most of the day staring at some squirrels arguing over an acorn. When she realized what she had just spent multiple hours doing, she cracked a slight smile and chuckled a bit. Luna decided that she would probably be less bored if she tried to find something to do in the castle, so she left her bedroom and began to explore around the castle.
Luna wandered the halls of the castle, marveling at just how beautiful the castle was. The walls of the castle were extremely tall, stretching toward the 30 foot tall ceiling. The walls were so tall that, under the right conditions, the ceiling would become concealed by fog. Luna remembered the first time she experienced this phenomenon. She was quite startled at the time because she didn't think that this was possible. Being so awed by the beauty of the castle, Luna nearly passed by the library, which she had originally intended on visiting.
Luna usually visited the library to read the different magazines and watch the movies made by the famous directors of Equestria. In fact, the library was the only way Luna kept up with the pop culture of Equestria. If not for the library and the ponies who constantly kept it stocked with the latest magazines and movies, Luna would have a tough time connecting with her subjects. There were also a few audio cd's scattered here and there around the library which contained the music of some of the most famous musicians of Equestria. Luna occasionally picked up some of these cd's and gave them a listen just so she could hear what was popular with some of her subjects.
Luna entered the library, sniffing the air. The air, as per usual, smelled of old paper, as it should given how old some of the books in the library were. She looked toward the main tables in the library, which usually held the new magazines, movies, and cd's. Luna sorted through the magazines and movies. Not seeing anything of interest in either of the stacks, she moved on to the stack of cd cases. At first, Luna saw nothing of interest in the stack of cd's. However, as she got to the bottom of the stack, she came across a cd case with no cover. She looked inside the case and saw that the cd inside had some sort of writing on it. After looking a bit closer at the cd, she noticed that the writing she saw on the cd was actually a warning.
"DO NOT LISTEN! POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS MATERIALS," Luna said, reading the label out loud.
Luna set the cd and its case aside to keep sorting through the stack of cd cases. She spent the next five minutes looking at all of the cd's, a majority of which she had listened to time and time again in the past. After sorting through the stack of cd cases, Luna stood there looking around at the library's various different shelves. She didn't much feel like reading right now but she didn't want to leave the library empty handed. She looked back toward the cd that she had set aside earlier. Luna knew that her sister might be irritated if she found out that she had taken the cd and listened to it. Luna decided, however, to take the cd anyway because she the had the authority to listen to it.
Luna left the library with a satisfied look on her face. She knew that this might keep her from being bored until Celestia got home. Luna headed back to her room. Once she arrived at her room, she closed the door behind her and locked. She didn't want Celestia to catch her listening to the cd because she knew that her sister was overly protective of her. Luna walked over to her stereo system and popped the cd into the cd player. After the cd player stopped loading up the disc, Luna pressed play on her remote.
There was an underwhelming silence in the first ten seconds of the cd. Because of the length of the silence, Luna initially thought that the cd was blank. However, as she was getting up to eject the cd from the cd player, something loud started playing, startling her. The noise that she heard was a drumbeat, but for some reason it was playing at what some would consider to be an impossibly fast speed. Shaking off her initial fright, Luna listened on curiously as another noise quickly joined in. This noise was horribly distorted to the point of the original instrument being unrecognizable to the untrained ear. Another deeper version of this noise was barely audible under the drum beat, but Luna still heard it. After about thirty seconds of this cluster of noises, another noise came in. This time it was less like an instrument was being played, and more like somepony was yelling while a pig was being brutalized. This shocked and disgusted Luna at first, but she decided to keep listening because, for some reason, she was enjoying this noise onslaught. Luna got so into the "music" that she started banging her head up and down to the drum beat. Luna couldn't understand why this was deemed to be dangerous material. She was thoroughly enjoying it, partially because it was different from the usual mellow pop music that was popular with her subjects. Unlike the normal mellow pop that she listened to, this music was aggressive. This music was angry. Listening to this music made her angry and aggressive. She liked this feeling.
After what Luna could only guess was a span two hours, Luna heard her bedroom door fly open and slam into the wall. She looked over. It was Celestia with the guard who had just kicked the door open. Celestia had a look on her face that was a mixture of shock, concern, and anger.
"I can't believe you disregarded that warning on the front of that disc," Celestia said, with disappointment in her voice.
"You know I have the right and the authority to listen to this disc!" Luna shouted, irritated.
"Don't talk back to me like that! I may be your sister but you have no right to talk to me like that!" Celestia yelled back.
"I'm sick of you treating me like I'm of a lower position than you!" Luna screamed.
"Please, just leave for now. I need some time to think and I think you do as well," Celestia said calmly.
"Good! I didn't want to be here anyways!" Luna shouted, storming off.
Celestia looked on angrily as her sister stormed off. Almost immediately after her sister was out of sight, Celestia realized what had just happened and started to feel guilty about the whole situation. She turned around and walked into her sister's room. She walked up to the cd player and ejected the cd from the cd player. Celestia then handed the cd to the guard.
"Go after her and give her this cd back," Celestia said.
"But madam..." the guard started.
"GO AFTER HER!" Celestia ordered.
"Yes, your highness," the guard said, running off after Luna.
