Prologue: Battle for Equestria

"I want you to conquer a planet for me, Kyurem."

That was how it all started. The task had been simple; conquer Equestria. But the ice dragon hadn't been prepared for what he would face there. First of all, magic. That by itself had messed with the plan greatly. Kyurem had been changed into something that world had called an Alicorn. But Kyurem wouldn't let being changed into one of them stop him from taking this world. That to, however, changed as he realized that he liked this world, and wanted it to remain as it was. So he became known as Prince Comet, Protector of Equestria. Only one being stood between him and peace.

The Solar Tyrant, Celestia.

Thus, the battle began...

The doors of the Canterlot Palace were blown off their hinges, landing in the throne room with a mighty Crash! as they hit the floor. The Solar Tyrant sat in her throne, a stoic look on her face as she watched her throne room be invaded. As the smoke from the crash faded, a lone figure stood amongst the debris. The being, at first glance, appeared to be an Alicorn, though the Tyrant knew better. The Alicorn's coat was a pale grey, and his horn was a bright, bold yellow. his head, wings, and hooves were all adorned with a cold, bluish ice, making the Alicorn appear to have armor. Its mane and tail looked like a wispy, icy mist flowing from its body, and its piercing yellow eyes looked cold and menacing.

"Get him," the Tyrant said in a bored tone, waving her hoof dismissively towards the Alicorn. Her guards immediately charged the intruder from all sides, attempting to catch him off guard.

The Alicorn sighed as reared up on his hind legs, his horn glowing brightly as he said, "Glaciate."

All at once, the entire room, floor to ceiling, was covered in ice. The Alicorn sighed as he looked about the room, seeing his handiwork. As his gaze fell upon the throne, he noticed it was empty, and then he smirked. "I know you're still in here, Solar Tyrant. I can feel your presence in the room," he said coldly. "You cannot run or hide from me, Tyrant. Not forever, at least."

The Alicorn suddenly felt something coming from the side, and barely dodged the bolt of magic that flew by him. He looked in the direction of the magic, and saw the form of the Tyrant. Despite being evil, he had to admit she was quite beautiful. Her coat was pure white, and her flanks were adorned with a cutie mark of the sun. Her body was adorned in golden armor, covering all her vital areas. Her mane and tail were composed of pure fire, melting the ice around her as she flew. She glared at him darkly as she said, "I never run, and neither do I hide from you, dragon." She spat out the last word, as if it brought a bitter taste to her mouth as she spoke it.

"Dragon? I swear, I have no idea what it is you are speaking of," said the Alicorn sarcastically. He smiled as he then said, "So, Celestia, are you going to come quietly, or will I be forced to use violence?"

The Alicorn received his answer in the form of a spear glancing off his helm of ice. "So be it," said the Alicorn, lifting his left foreleg as it became covered in ice, ending in three sharp protrusions, almost like claws. He turned to face Celestia, his 'claws' becoming covered in a dark violet aura. "Well then, are you ready, Celestia?"

"I've been ready," snarled Celestia as she readied her spear.

The two charged at each other, yelling out their battle cries as they came. When Celestia's spear met the Alicorn's ice claws, the sheer force of their collision sent out shockwaves, shattering and scattering the ice around the throne room. Celestia pulled back her spear and raised it, preparing to strike. The Alicorn, seeing an opening, thrust forward with his claws, raking them across Celestia's chest. Celestia cried out in pain as she felt the claws slash through her armor, leaving deep, bleeding gashes in her chest. She looked down at her wound, breathing heavily as she saw that the claw marks had iced over, making them hurt more and ensure that she would be scarred by them. She growled fiercely, thrusting her foreleg out into the Alicorn's eye. The Alicorn's vision exploded around him as the hoof made contact, gouging out his right eye. He collapsed to the floor, his face bleeding out from the attack. He wouldn't cry, no matter how much it hurt. Celestia looked down upon him and grinned evilly.

"Now, what to do with you?", she wondered aloud, pacing around the Alicorn as she spoke. "I can't turn you to stone without my sister, and I banished her to the moon. Because she there, I can't send you there, either. Hmm... Oh!" she exclaimed, a wicked grin on her face. "I know just what to do with you..."

Her horn glowed a sickly, greenish color as she lowered her head to face his. She touched his horn with her own, and the room was suddenly filled with the sounds of the Alicorn's snores. She looked around the room and said, "Guard! Attend me!" In a matter of seconds, a guard was there, waiting to do what he was told.

"What do you need, Princess?", asked the guard, bowing as he addressed her.

"I need for you to take this stallion to the Frozen North, and bury him in the ice. Can I count on you to do that?", asked the Princess in a sweet, angelic voice.

The guard nodded and said, "It will be done, Princess." He then lifted the Alicorn's body and carried it out of the throne room. Celestia sighed as she lifted the doors to the throne room, setting them back in place with her magic.

"Well, so much for the the great Prince Comet, Protector of Equestria," she said victoriously. "Although, as a result, I have lost my apprentice, Sunset Shimmer," she said in a sad tone. She then smiled wickedly as she said, "It's okay, though. I'll find another one. It's only a matter of time..."

Little did Celestia know the weight of her own words, for the spell she had cast on Prince Comet would fade; after all, no spell lasts forever, and with no reminders, Celestia soon forgot about the being she had buried beneath the ice. But he wasn't forgotten by everypony; the ponies of the Crystal Empire remembered him, and they knew that one day, he would reawaken and bring down the one known as the Solar Tyrant.
