What can a simple mage do?
“Dear me, what do we have here? Two little ponies who think they can defeat me? Discord, the god of chaos? Why I don’t think so, and to be honest I am tired of this world. It’s just no fun anymore. I mean when that one thing came along it was fun for a time, but then he had to go and run off didn’t he? What was his name... oh yes I believe he goes by Black Waltz Three. Such a delightful character, but that was then and this is now and it’s time for this world to go bye bye.” Discord said looking down on the two alicorn sister, as he began to gather the very life force of the planet in an effort to destroy it.
“Quickly sister we must use the Elements before he can complete the spell.” Celestia called out to her sister Luna as they activated the Elements of Harmony and watched as Discord was turned to stone. But after a couple of moments they noticed that the spell had been completed and they noticed that a ball of magic had appeared and was slowly expanding beginning to consume all life in the surrounding area.
“Sister we must stop this, if we don’t the whole world will be destroyed.” Luna said looking towards her sister with a very worried look.
“I have an idea but you will not like it.” Celestia said looking away from her sister. “ I will give up my body and in doing so transfer my harmonious magic which will hopefully counter and neutralize the black magic at work here.” She said beginning to walk towards the sphere of magic but was suddenly stopped by a rather rough voice and a familiar tall creature landing in front of the sphere with its arms out to its sides in the sign of wait.
“Waltz get out of the way. We must stop this magic from destroying the world!” Celestia shouted.
“You are correct, this magic must be stopped but not by you. The world still has need of you, both of you. But there is one thing that the world doesn’t need. Can you guess what that thing is?” Waltz asked.
“It doesn’t matter I must stop this magic. It is the only way, my friend. Now please move aside so that it can be stopped.”
“I’m sorry but like I said you are needed but I am not. And I make the perfect conductor for this magic to be destroyed in. Now back up and let me work.”
“Sister as much as it pains me to say it, he is right. The world still needs us and his body does make a great conductor. We need to let him do what needs to be done. Please, let him.” Luna begged her sister with tears in her eyes.
“Fine Luna, *sigh* go ahead Waltz.”
“Don’t worry about me you hear. In the end it will all work out I’m sure of it.” Vivi said with a large smile and a voice full of false positivity. Because he knew that he had lied and wouldn’t be surviving this. That he was in the last moments of his life. And even while he knew this and his body slowly began turning to sand, he still had a smile on his face till the very end. As his body was about to finally crumble, he turned his head so that the sisters were the last things he saw and he said five words that broke their hearts and reduced them to tears as they could do nothing to stop the death of one of their closest friends. Those words were.
“I’ll miss you my friends.” And then like that, he was gone and all that remained aside from a pile of sand was his staff, robes,, hat, and a bunch of fried, blackened feathers.

Funeral for the Fallen and Rise of a Friend
*knock knock knock* “Princesses, it’s time for the funeral to begin.” A guard said tiredly.
*Sniff* “Thank you, we will be along in a moment.” Was his reply as the princesses walked out of their room, and headed towards the funeral grounds.
-------------------------------------------------Twenty minutes later---------------------------------------------------
“We are gathered here today to mourn the lives lost in the battle against Discord. From the lowest private to the high general, we mourn for them and pray that their souls find peace in the Elysium Fields. We also mourn the loss of one of Equestria’s greatest heros. For in the final battle, Discord had cast a spell that would have destroyed the world had he not sacrificed his very being to stop it. We are talking about Black Waltz Three.” Said the princesses with tears running down their faces.
“But let us not forget the reason for his and everypony else’s sacrifice. They died so that we could all continue living in peace. So let us remember the good times and make sure what they died for comes true. Let us insure that we will live in peace and that their sacrifices were not in vain!” Shouted Princess Luna who was met with cheers.
“Now we mourn for the day, but tomorrow we rebuild and make their dream come true.” Was the last thing said before the princesses walked away.
---------------------------------------------One Thousand Years Later----------------------------------------------
“Sister do you think that he would like what we have done?” Asked Princess Luna
“I don’t know but I sure hope he would. I mean after one thousand years we finally have true peace. And while I regret that it took this long we have finally achieved his dream.” Replied Princess Celestia.
“And that is great, but I was wondering. If we were given a chance to have him back, would you take it?”
“In a heartbeat, but we both know that isn’t going to happen. I mean the chance alone would be a .000001 out of a million!”
“And while this is true and I am apologizing in advance I may or may not have commissioned your student to try a very experimental spell. That may or may not do what I was asking about.” Princess Luna said.
“...YOU DID WHAT NOW?! HOW COULD YOU HAVE PUT HER IN SUCH DANGER?!... Now what were the results?” Princess Celestia asked.
“She succeeded and we have someone who want’s to talk to us again. Would you please come in Waltz?” And as she said this in walked their long lost friend.
“Hello Celestia it’s been a long time hasn’t it?” Waltz asked as he walked up and hugged her while simultaneously dragging Luna into the hug with one of his wings. “Now why don’t you two tell me what’s been going on during my death period,hmm?”
“Of course. And I see you have recovered your equipment. Now I am going to assume my student followed you here and is now hiding outside the door?” Celestia said and after a few moments her student walked in.
“He he hello, did you need something Princesses?” She said while trying to appear as small as possible.
“Now what have you been told about being afraid little one? Luna asked. “Has he tried to harm you in any way?”
“N-n-no Princess. But it’s just that he is so tall and scary looking.”
“Now now little one. I may seem scary but I am no more harmful to you then I am to the princesses here. Why I couldn’t force myself to harm something as adorable as you.” Waltz said with a yawn” My it seems even with being dead I am still tired and haven’t gotten enough sleep. I am sincerely sorry to cut this short, but I need to rest. We can continue this at a later date.” He said before exiting and as the doors closed we heard him ask a guard to lead him to his room and then the doors closed and it was only us three left.
“Umm Princesses, could you tell me a bit about him?” Twilight asked.
“Of course, but his tale is a long one so you might want too go and gather some snacks and then come back here.” Celestia said and then watched as her student teleported out of the room and then teleported back in with a large amount of snacks and drinks floating in her magical grip.
