Echos of hooves bounced off the walls of the castle. The glow of the moon covering the elegant trimmings in soft blues and greys. Even Celestia’s pure white fur held a faint blue color in it’s glow. Celestia looked to the moon with tired eyes before continuing her way down the long cold hall. Smiling to the guards and giving small nods of reassurance as she passed them, Luna’s disappearance has put everyone on edge. Celestia was again in charge of the moon and sun, while Cadance and Twilight looked for her. Celestia wished to go along but, the two protested after seeing her tired state.
Finally reaching her room, she sighed as she opened the door her magic glow dim from the lack of energy. Carefully she began to remove her regalia ignoring the barely visible scratches from past battles. There was even one left by Chrysalis from Candace's and Shining Armor’s wedding. Shaking her head solemnly Celestia went to the center of her room where a round cushion covered the ground. Gracelessly she fell onto the cushion huffing as she landed, the duties of the sun and moon weighing her down greatly. Silently her body began to shake as she buried her muzzle in the cushion. To anyone it would seem like she was crying wishing her sister back, but that depended if they could hear the laughter barely being contained by the plush fabric.
Flicking her head up Celestia chuckled some more before letting it calm before opening her eyes. A sickly green color glowing eerily in the dim fire light. Blinking once she smirked as she looked towards the door smirking as several guards came in. The same green glow coming from their own eyes.
“Just on time like usual. You all seem well enough. I’m so thrilled you all decided to take this mission.” She smirked sitting up straighter to fit a more regal pose.
“We do anything for you dear Princess Celestia.” a Unicorn said as others nodded in agreement.
“Yes. Of course you will.” She said nonchalantly not really caring.
Looking them over once more she turned to the fire her eyes leaving a faint trail as they moved. Careful of her energy Celestia breathed letting her magic cover the fireplace, but instead of the calming yellow it usually was now it was replace with the same sickly green color that filled her eyes. The guards shifted just the slightest bit as the fireplace began to move revealing a passage full of scattered crystals.
“This way.” Celestia said calmly as she stood and entering the passage glancing back to the group.
The guards followed only one hesitating the slightest bit. Celestia didn’t fail to notice it smirking a bit at the guard fell behind the others. Not slowing in her pace Celestia closed the door, submerging the tunnel darkness. At this more guards began to fidget trying to follow the green trail of light left by Celestia’s eyes. It was all rather amusing.
“Princess may we please have some light?” the hesitant guard from earlier asked., jumping slightly as some of the crystals began to glow adding more light.
“Is that better dear?” Celestia asked smiling warmly.
“Yes, thank you Princess.” he responded dazed.
Chuckling some Celestia turned her attention back ahead of her. A shiver running through her as they drew closer to their destination. As they walked the crystals behind them lost their light letting dark shadows cover the walls once again.
“There is a cavern just up ahead.” she said nodding in front pointing out the archway just a head.
The guards nodded in understanding not even flinching as the light vanished giving way to the endless darkness of the cavern. Celestia smiled to them as they walked farther in stopping only when they reach the center of the gigantic room.
Suddenly in a flash the room was flooded with light blinding the guards temporarily.
“Princes! Princess are you alright?” the captain of the guards yelled out once they had recovered their sight.
“I’m fine. You on the other hand…” Celestia smiled laughing some as she turned to the guards surrounded by numerous changelings.
Several gasps escaped the guards as the looked around them before getting ready to fight the guard aiming his horn at Celestia. None of them holding the green glowing eyes any longer.
“Imposter!” the captain yelled angrily, “Show your true self!”
“If you insist.” Celestia chuckled the changelings joining her.
Stepping closer to the group she watched as the looked on in horror as green flames crawled up her form revealing deep black fur and hole filled leg. Then the long flowing rainbow mane and tail was affected changing it to flat dull bluish green with the same strange holes filling it; even her wings change taking the form of torn insect wings. Finally it reached her face making it narrower muzzle filled with sword sharp teeth and turning her horn jagged and threatening.
“Ah, it feels so good to be me again.” Chrysalis laughed sending the frightened guards a murderous smirk.
Even the captain shivered at it, how precious, but they would just have to wait. She had more important things to focus on right now. Like her adorable children clicking and purring happily now that she was in her true form. Even the ones far away greeted her through their shared minds.
“Yes, I’m here children it’s okay. Mother is home and she brought a few treats.” she smiled nuzzling one that was close by.
Suddenly the changeling she was nuzzling let out a cry of pain letting it even fill the hive mind as it fell to the floor smoking. It didn’t move again, it was dead. Several cries went out amongst the hive mind in morning while others called in rage. Chrysalis just looked on stoic before turning to the guards furious spotting the killer. The stupid hesitate one from before, was the culprit and he would pay.
“You shot, him. You shot my child!” she yelled her voice echoing in the room silencing everyone.
The guard shook as he looked at chrysalis seeing and feeling the fury radiating from her.
“Kill them. Kill all of them, every single one of them!” Chrysalis ordered her as her horn glowed making all the guards fall enchanted again except the one who had killed.
The Changelings smiled and chuckled as they descended upon the other guards easily overcoming them in their enchanted state. The last guard watched terrorized as he saw them rip the others apart like piranhas starved for months. Blood covered the stone ground as all changeling eyes looked to the last guard. The glow reflecting darkly off of the red pools. Chrysalis smiled making sure her teeth were clearly visible.
“Nowhere to go. Don’t worry I don’t want you dead yet I have something to show you.” she hissed her green magic covering the pony and throwing him down another tunnel the crazed laughter of the changeling’s following them.
The guard shouted out in pain as he hit a wall sliding down it when Chrysalis removed her magic. Looking up at chrysalis he flinched as she came closer to him, making her chuckle darkly.
“Aw are you scared murder!” she snapped at him watching him jump out of the way of her teeth, “You will pay for killing one of my children. Just like your princess did.” she chuckled as she snapped at him again chuckling as he fell down a short cliff into a deep pit.
The guard gasped as he tried to scurry farther away from chrysalis like some mouse. Only to stop dead in his tracks when his eyes landed on the decaying corpses of princess Celestia and Luna. Gaging at the sight he turned away only to be met with the sight of many foal sized changelings looking him with owlish eyes.
“G-get back you monsters!” he shouted at the tiny creatures.
Charging his horn he shot at them only for the shot to be stopped by a barrier. He looked up at the furious eyes of Chrysalis once again. Looking down to the little creatures he saw the terror in their eyes as they cowered behind their queen and mother.
“You will attack defenseless children! Such filth does not even deserve to be food for my young.” she snapped before turning to the foals, “I’m here children it’s okay. Mother has you.”
“You w-won’t succeed Princess Cadance and Twilight will stop you.”
“Ah, yes those two. Their murders just like you. Do you know how many died because of them? I do. I felt every single death heard every cry of pain of horror as they crashed to the ground or where scattered so far apart that if animals did not kill them starvation would! But never again will they suffer because of ponykind. I’ll make sure of it.” she said growling as she pounced at him.
The guard yelled as he tried to escape only to be cut short as Chrysalis bit into him. His body spasmed slightly before finally going limp. Chrysalis smiled as she devoured him making sure to suck every ounce of love out of him for Celestia before devouring his flesh. Sighing when that was done she turned to her nest full of the tiny foals.
“Come to mommy sweeties.” she cooed as she laid down amongst them.
Making sure to share the love she collected as well as her warmth. Yes she make sure she would win. Make sure all ponykind paid for her lost children, but thrived enough to keep feeding her brood. Who knows maybe someday she’ll even pick a King from her hoard so that she can just focus on her darling little dears.
