Vinyl And Octavia: A Semester To Remember

Two ponies entered Trottingham college, one a DJ who plays at nightclubs, and another a cellist who plays classical music for other ponies. As you can see these two ponies are very different with different styles and talents but no one knew what would come next they become likely friends at the college and end up spending most of their free time together...

Vinyl walked to class living about 2 miles away in a small flat just by herself, when along  came a grey mare who ran past her with a cello in hoof, Vinyl thought she was late for something and she was right! That grey mare was late for class and so was she, Vinyl ran as fast as she could to catch up with the grey mare, who was running very fast. Vinyl was faster though slowly gaining on her as the grey mare ran, Vinyl quickly overtook her and got to class just in time, about 5 minutes later she saw the same grey mare who she ran past earlier come into the classroom. The teacher wasn't surprised that at least one pony wasn't there on time, but she let The mare off and she sat down next to Vinyl.

"Hey" said the mare, "What's your name?" Vinyl looked round then pointing at herself and the grey mare nodded, "Oh, Mine is Vinyl" she replied. "Nice name" whispered the mare, "My name is Octavia, what are you studying in this class?" Vinyl replied saying "I'm studying modern music and how to make people more interested in my gigs." "Nice, I'm studying how to play the cello better and how to get more attention in my performances." Replied Octavia. "Oh, Ok" whispered Vinyl, "We better pay attention then shouldn't we?" Said Octavia, "What, Nahhh I was joking about learning I'm just here to pass and maybe go to University that is where it gets really interesting." "What?" exclaimed Octavia so the class could hear, "Your only here to pass and get into University! That is preposterous! Why in Equestria would you be doing that?"

The two mares got into a full on argument that you should study even if your at your A game it went on for 10 minutes, until both of them realised that the class and even the teacher were listening they were in psychology after all, they were also arguing on which music was better and eventually the teacher told them to stop, "Wow" said the teacher "That was an amazing demonstration on how two different ideals can affect two different ponies." The entire class erupted in laughter and the two mares faces went bright red, After the lesson the two mares were kept back, "I'm setting you two some special homework, your task is to spend time at the weekend to try and get along and be friends!"

The two mares shouted at the top of their voice and the entire corridor shook, At the same time they both said "You want me to spend time with this idiot!?!?" They looked at each other and started to argue again the teacher stopped them and said "Were in psychology you two would be a great example to the class on how two different ponies work..." Eventually the both said fine and were dismissed, "Can I have your phone number?" said Vinyl with a hint of anger, "Sure" growled Octavia they exchanged numbers and walked off in two different directions with angry expressions on their faces.

They agreed to meet at Blue Bell Corner for lunch on Sunday, as it was nearly Hearths Warming the paths and roads were very slippery, Vinyl casually trotted there and waited outside, she had decided to wear a long scarf and grey boots with her regular DJ glasses she always kept on, after 10 minutes she assumed Octavia ditched her and started to trot away... Octavia sped over the hill realizing that she should have left earlier than did, she saw Vinyl trotting away and ran as fast as she could! When she was close enough she tried to slow down but the ground was too slippery she smashed into Vinyl with such force they both had concussion...

It was now Wednesday 3 days after the accident and Octavia was standing outside waiting for the teacher to arrive... Vinyl slowly trotted to class with a crutch for her broken hoof and a bandage around her horn, she didn't know how she would survive the day with these injuries, Vinyl muttered to herself "Oh god Psychology... boy are me and Octavia gonna get shouted at, Vinyl made it to class just a minute before the teacher arrived.

As she walked to the line Bon Bon pointed out to Lyra that Vinyl had been hurt, it quickly spread among the class line that Octavia had beaten up Vinyl, just before the teacher arrived the class sniggered at Vinyl, Vinyl realised this and shouted "WHAT, WHAT is so funny about me being hurt is this a joke?" Lyra sniggered while she said this "Did you get beat up by Octavia during your weekend?" Vinyl's mouth opened wide, why was she letting Lyra getting away with... she came up with something so good that she knew if she got in trouble it would be worth it , Vinyl said this smugly "Oh yeah... I forget to tell every pony that you and Bon Bon are a thing" Lyra's mouth opened wide and Bon Bon's face went as red as a tomato, everyone in the line erupted into laughter, and even Octavia managed a giggle.

Lyra shut up and Bon Bon fainted because of the blood rushing to her cheeks after the embarrassment, the teacher came to the class eventually and muttered to herself "Can I not trust two mares to get lunch and become friends?" she sighed as the class walked in. Class went as normal learning about the pony brain and how to get ponies attracted to certain things, after class Vinyl and Octavia were kept behind again for another assignment, "Well it's Wednesday can I trust you two to get lunch on Thursday and tell the class all about it on Friday?" Both Vinyl and Octavia agreed because they were looking forward to it because they actually wanted to go even though neither of them knew the other wanted too.

On Thursday Vinyl and Octavia were aloud to leave psychology for lunch, they went to Blue Bell Corner as originally planned and trotted instead of running to avoid accidents, they went in and as soon as they sat down Octavia politely asked "What are you getting Vinyl?" Vinyl replied saying "Meh I dunno maybe a HayBurger?" "Oh ok I'm thinking of getting a daisy salad." said Octavia, about two minutes passed before a waiter came and asked them what that wanted, Vinyl said hers and then the waiter turned to Octavia and said "What about the missus?" Octavia replied with daisy salad without knowing what it meant and he left to take the order to the kitchen, Vinyl buried herself in the seat and Octavia took notice and said "What is the matter Vinyl?" Vinyl replied saying what the waiter meant by missus, as soon as Octavia realised what it meant she went red and shouted "WHAT... I thought it was just a nickname because we are friends!" Vinyl replied with, "Shhh be quiet other people are here." Octavia said with a heavy breath in her voice "should I find him and tell him that were not a couple?" "Nah, it doesn't matter no-one in our class heard us..."

They both had talked about their life before this moment Vinyl said that her parents died when she was young and that she had dropped out of High school, because she was failing in every subject except music, Octavia was surprised and replied saying that her mother was famous but her father died when she was young, and with that their food came, and they ate. They both went home after that and with newfound respect for each other they both knew that class would be a problem... Vinyl went home and then went to some clubs with other friends and barely got home before she passed out from being drunk...
