Twilight Guard
Chapter 1: Introduction Part 1
Load Full StoryStanding only a hoof(= foot) away from the stairs that lead up to the large doorway into the crystalline structure that was Princess Twilight Sparkles castle, sat Chaos Star. Chaos Star was a hybrid between a unicorn, who was his mother, and a bat pony that was his father. He looked like a bat pony, tufts at the ends of his ears and fangs protruding from his mouth whenever he opened it, as well as natural dark grey fur and a pale blue mane, but having his mother be a unicorn made him special. Chaos lacked wings, and to make up for it, was born with a unicorns horn. He was just like any other bat pony, with the looks as well as better night vision and a higher sense of hearing, but he could also perform spells. His cutie mark was blocked by his clothing.
He currently adorned a black, hooded cloak, covering his body as well as most of his face, but padding and armor, as well a multiple weapons, were visible protruding from underneath the cloth. His red-amber eyes peaked from underneath his hood and soaked up the sight of the castle. He... withheld himself from listing every single flaw in it's design as he began to climb the stairs, levitating a scroll from the belt underneath his cloak, and into the air next to him, now adorning a faint black shimmer.
Reaching the door, he saw a knocker on the door that looked like it was hastily hammered into place, he also noticed it seemed to have a faint enchantment on it that worked very similarly to the 'Royal Canterlot Voice'. Projecting the noise much more than it originally would be. He assumed it was needed since Twilight had no guards to answer the door for her. Also, there was a sign next to it that simply said, 'KNOCK HARD', so that again tipped him off.
He grabbed the knocker firmly in TK (You might know this is short for telekinesis) and began to beat it against the golden wood of the doors. He thought he heard a faint, 'COMING!', from somewhere within the walls of the castle, but he could't be sure, since his sensitive ears were lightly ringing from the knocker. That was much louder than expected.
After a few minutes of the sound of trotting from behind the doors steadily becoming louder and louder, he heard a latch on the other side of the door be hastily undone as they finally swung open.
Twilight Sparkle, now standing in the doorway, said "Sorry for the wait, this place is a lot bigger than it loo~" She trailed off as she noticed the cloaked figure in front of her, bowing to her and presenting a scroll.
"I come with a message from Princess Celestia," Said the pony, in a deep authoritative voice.
"That's peculiar, the princess never sends letters like this," She took the message in her own magic, and noticed the royal seal keeping it closed. She hummed in approval and opened, beginning to read out loud, "Dear Twil- er Princess Twilight Sparkle, after having a talk with Luna, we have begun to hoof pick ponies to serve in a new branch of the royal guard that will be stationed at your new castle. This is, of course, an long an grueling process. So, I have chosen one of Luna's and mine best guards to protect and assist you until the new branch is complete. Best of luck. - Celestia. Uhm..." Twilight looked around, confused before turning to the pony who was beginning to stand from his bowing position, "Would you happen to know where said guard is?"
Chaos star looked up and into Twilight's eyes as he stood, maintaining eye contact as he boldly stated, "Princess, I am the one who will be guarding and/or assisting you until the new branch of the royal guard has been constructed."
Chaos Star, still covered in his cloak but no longer wearing the hood, was sitting in a chair that was in the main hallway that was just behind the entrance door, Twilight had invited him in, and explained she was going to get spike, and told him to wait. Chaos began to look around , taking in the sights. Large pillars of crystal lined the walls, along with magnificent wooden doors, framed with what seemed to be gold, but was more likely a gold brass. Windows to each side of every door let rays of light into the hallway. A red carpet went down the hallway, and branched off into small hallways leading to more doors as well.
After only a few minutes of looking around and familiarizing himself with the large castle he would be staying in, he heard hoofsteps, along with the soft pitter-patter of claws against the carpeted ground. Soon, the dragon and Princess were also seated in chairs in front of him. The dragon looked a little miffed.
"Sorry for the wait," She said quickly, "now, if you wouldn't mind, could you please shed some light on why I need guards? I can protect myself just fine." Twilight was confused.
"Princess Sparkle, the political world is a dark and dangerous world. The Princesses Celestia and Luna sent me to protect you from potential assassins and other things to that likelihood." He said in a monotone voice, as if he was prepared for this moment.
"W-what?! Why would anyone do such a thing? That's preposterous!" She seemed mad at even the though of other ponies being sent to kill others for political reasons.
"It is a very real and serious threat Princess. I myself have witness many such attacks and assassination attempts. One of the very reasons the other princesses chose me as a temporary guard." Chaos replied flatly. He almost seemed bored.
