It's been nearly a whole year since Princess Twilight reunited Sunset Shimmer with her Equestrian parents, and healed the wounds that grew over time between them. This kind of closure gave Sunset an unknown motivation to return the favor to one of her own friend's that she knew already: or to newfound ones that she'd never really expect to find within her new home world; which of course just happened to be the official human form, and alternate counterpart of Princess Twilight.

Unlike her alicorn equine double, this Twilight Sparkle is more awkward, clumsy, and more emotionally sensitive. Most of the psychological torment and pressure has been lifted off of her thankfully when she transferred over to Canterlot High, and gaining seven friends along with it.

Still, that didn't mean she was no longer capable of breaking when misfortune might hit, and near a most favorable holiday before the month of Christmas.

When a heartbreaking milestone falls upon not only Twilight, but the rest of her family; Sunset now has a reason and possibly a way to help the grieving family out--with or without incident that will reflect the outcome of how successful the selfless deed will actually be.
