“Why? Why are you out in the middle of a cold, barren tundra?" I said in my mind, questioning my journey. I then remember why I went to this far-off part of Equestria, just that. It was far away from anypony, but I knew of the secrets buried deep under the snowy terrain. I stopped to take in the view in front of me. A white blanket covered almost everything I saw, reflecting the Sun so effectively that it was hard to look at for very on. In the distance, across the almost flat expanse of snow and ice, was a grey and ominous wall. I dared not get too close, fearing the extremes that lie beyond the barrier.
The quick break felt slightly rejuvenating, as if the seemingly plain landscape was more than wasteland. I continued trudging forward, destined to find what I was looking for: Changelings. I am no Changeling Hunter! Instead, I am one of them, but unfortunately all on my own...nochangeling with me for quite a long time. The lifelessness of the tundra was a perfect indicator for a hiding spot; a hive. To be honest, I don’t think this is the most ideal spot for a hive, but perhaps there may be something underneath the snow that could help a Queen support her hive.
I am not a changeling Queen, although I share the shape of their horn, eyes, wings and shell. However, I could never be a Queen for a very important reason: I am a male, a changeling King, in a sense. Well, more of a changeling Prince since I don’t have a Queen to rule a hive with. But how I do wish I could someday be a King; the husband of a lovely Queen who I will love oh so dearly.
Another lonely hour or so passed, as I continued to slowly wade through the snow and cold air. My time traveling is running low as I see the Sun kiss the horizon. I look around to observe the sky. There was an array of colors ranging from a reddish pink near the setting sun to a dark purple on the other side, with all the other colors fading into one another in between. I did not realize I was still walking forward while I looked at the sky above me, and I very soon found out when I felt myself drop down an icy passage. My hooves could not create enough friction to stop me as I slid deeper and deeper into the ice cavern.
I looked inwards, expecting to see darkness, but instead I saw the light of what appeared to be a fire. The source abruptly approached as I uncontrollably slid towards it, but my movement was stopped almost instantly. Inches away from the crackling fire, the heat comforting and relaxing, I noticed that an aura was surrounding me. This aura soon disappeared, but not late enough for me to make out its color; green.
A thought crossed my mind, “That green color...not many ponies have that color aura, but almost all changelings do.” I got up from the icy ground and tried to locate whoever had stopped my plummet. As I look forward, I notice somepony sitting. Illuminated by the fire, I can clearly make out what it is, but I am soon stunned. Before me, sitting, is a creature of pure divine beauty. Black body, green shell, a horn like mine, with wings the same. A Changeling ‘crown’ upon her head. I soon realize this is a Changeling Queen. Her eyes, green in color, shaped like mine as well, are staring directly at me, and I can feel my heart skip a beat as a new, unknown feeling begins to form within it.
“You took quite the tumble there, didn’t you?” she said to you. I am unable to speak, still stunned by her beauty, and by her voice. Her voice was beautiful and divine. She spoke in a way that had power, showed desire, and what seems to be a small amount of lust. Her voice commanded respect, but also love. “Are you ok?” she spoke once more, further pushing me in a trance. I merely nod, unable to find my own voice to respond to her question.
“Did you hit your head on your way down?” I shake my head no, and manage to find my voice, yet I spoke softly, nervous:
“I’m, okay.”
“You don’t seem it. Here sit by the fire and warm up a bit.” She motioned over to a spot near the fire. I nod once more, and go the spot, sitting down, quickly growing warm. “Are you sure you’re fine?” she continued to ask. Within my mind, many thoughts begin to form, all of which include her in them. I am only able to focus on her, and I find myself staring at her. She noticed how I was staring at her, but instead of being upsetted by it, she smiled. I smile a bit as well. “I-I’m Ero, what, is your name” I asked, still speaking softly, nervously.
“My name is Chrysalis. It is nice to meet you, Ero” she replied, holding out her hoof. I reached out my hoof to accept hers. When my hoof did touch her, she grabbed onto it and shook it. As I feel her hoof, I notice how wonderful it feels. I begin to wonder if her entire body feels like this, if it all feels, perfect. Once more this feeling within me begins to grow, as my heart is set ablaze with an emotion I haven't felt in a long time, love. Chrysalis giggled after a few seconds. I didn’t realize that I was still holding her hoof. Letting go, I blushed.
“S-sorry. It’s just, I haven’t been with, another for so long.” I said to her.
She giggled once more and replied, ‘That’s alright, I haven’t been around other changelings in quite a while either.“ Chrysalis said back.
“May I ask, why are you out here, Chrysalis” I asked, still nervous.
“Well, I am out here looking for a place where I could settle down, and manage a hive of my own. What about you?”
“I’m out here, looking for a hive to join, looking for a Queen to be with. You see, I am a Changeling King, well, Prince is the better term, for I have yet to find myself a Queen to be with” I said, smiling a bit, as my hopes begin to rise, hoping she would say she would love to have me with her. “I, could be your first subject, Chrysalis. I, honestly have no where to go, and, you are a Queen. So, may I be your first subject” I asked, my hopes growing higher.
“Well, I’m not sure, Ero. Perhaps if I get to know you a little I could decide.” she answered, smiling. “Ask me anything, Chrysalis” I said in a somewhat happy tone.Chrysalis thought for a second, wondering what question to ask.
“What hive are you from?” she asked.
“My mother is Thyra. I am quite special, according to her. I was the first live changeling birth, and the first Changeling King to exist since they were, killed off by ponies eons ago.”
“Interesting, is your mother still alive?”
“I do not know. I haven’t had any contact with her for a long time.”
“Oh, what happened?” Chrysalis asked, worried about what might have happened.
“I have a feeling she is okay. It’s just I am to far away from her hive to know. Anything else you would like to know about me.”
“What do you plan to do when you meet the Queen you want to be with?”
“I would do all I can to make her happy. I would love her so much, so dearly. My loyalty would be undying, and I would remain by her side. I would be there for our Children, our little hatchlings. I would love them all, and put the hive before myself, doing what I can to keep it alive. I would love you so much, so vastly, I would devote my entire being to you…” I slowly stop talking as I realize what I had just said.
“It sounds like you would care for her very much,” Chrysalis replied, apparently not taking note that I replaced a “her” with a “you”.
“I would care for her. As I said, I would devote my entire being to her, and love her.”
“That’s very nice, Ero, it’s nice to meet someone so kind like yourself.” I smile a bit upon hearing this.
“Have you, decided yet Chrysalis, on, what you will do with my offer?”
“I have come to a decision. I feel you should accompany me in my search for a perfect spot for a hive.” Upon hearing this, I suddenly spring up and hug Chrysalis.
“Thank you Chrysalis, thank you” I said, pure joy and love in my voice. As I slowly come to my senses, and begin to loosen my grip, I feel something wrap around me, and I realize Chrysalis is hugging me back. I smile, as I tighten my grip a bit.
"It will feel wonderful having somechangeling with me Ero" Chrysalis exclaimed happily.
