The Mare In The Woods

The sun shined brightly in the sky as fillies and colts played in the beautiful day as a young filly unicorn sat under a tree with her orange coat and pink mane. As the filly open her tired eyes as she heard the others talking.

"So, they say that if you enter the woods the mare will get you" one filly said making the orange coat unicorn roll her eyes.

"That is so not true" she said making the others turn to her "There is no thing as a mare in the woods that just ridiculous."

"Sweet Heart it is true everypony who went in there has never return" she said as Sweet Heart let out a small smile.

"If they never returned then how does anypony know about the mare?" Sweet Heart asked as the others couldn't answers as she left the park as she smiled.

"The mare in the woods, that just a bed time story" Sweet Heart said as she stood outside The Everfree Forest "And I'm going to prove it"

Sweet Heart walked though the forest as she stepped on a stick as it broke, creating a loud noise. As the young unicorn stopped to see if anypony or creature heard her.

Sweet Heart continued though the forest as her eyes darted all over the place. "There no mare in the woods, right?" She asked as she begin to question herself in fear

Breathing in and out 'this is just silly I'm getting work up over nothing' she thought as howling could be heard. Sweet Heart's eyes widen in fear as she started running forward and not even looking back or where she going.

Sweet Heart still running as she tripped over an tree root making her fall face first into the ground. Lifting her head with dizzyness taking her vision she saw a pony wearing a black coat before passing out.

"Hey Sweets" a southern Earth pony said as she sat down next to her singer friend

"Hey Apple Bloom, what brings you by today?" Sweetie Belle asked putting away her notes for her next song.

"Ah thought say hi to ya and Sweet Heart, where is that girl anyway?" Apple Bloom asked

"I don't know she just said that she was going to the park" Sweetie Belle said as she saw her county friend face "What?"

"Sweetie ah know ya don' wanna hear this but it time to move on. Scoots ain't coming back ya need to find somepony who can help take care of Sweet Heart" Apple Bloom said as the unicorn bowed her head.

"Yeah I know it just it hard moving on even if it has been fifteen years since I have last seen her. I still remember our dates together"

"Yeah and ah remember how she went crazy and tried to burn Equestria" Apple Bloom said

"I'm going to look for Sweet Heart she couldn't have run off anywhere" Sweetie Belle said as she stood up as her friend followed

"Ah comin' with ya" Apple Bloom said as Sweetie Belle smiled

"Thanks Apple Bloom" Sweetie Belle said.

"Huh, mom is that you? I had the weirdest dream that I was chased by Timborwolves" Sweet Heart said

"Don't worry child you're safe now in the Everfree Forest" a voice said sounding nothing like her mother as Sweet Heart woke up as she looked at the pony wearing the dark coat.

"The Everfree Forest" she cried looking at the pony in front of her "You're...You're the mare in the woods" Sweet Heart said as she heard the pony laugh

"Is that what they are calling me? At less make it better" said the woods pony

"So you're not going to eat my brains?" Sweet Heart question

"Brains? I'm not a zombie you know I just a pony" she said giving the filly a glass of juice.

"But...Everypony says that you're a monster" Sweet Heart said as a loud noise of glass hitting the floor.

"Sorry about that I just haven't been called that for so long, I'm almost forgotten it was true" the mare spoke as Sweet Heart looked at her even without seeing her face. She could tell this mare is hurt and broken.

"We should get you home" she spoke again

"Miss woods mare, I don't think you're a monster just a hurt and alone pony" Sweet Heart said as the woods mare open the door as the two walked though the forest in silents.

"She's not here?" Sweetie Belle asked as the filly nodded her head

"Yeah we was talking about The Mare In The Woods and Sweet Heart didn't believe us and just left" the filly said as Apple Bloom saw Sweetie Belle rubbed her head.

"Well it looks like she takes after you" Apple Bloom said with a smile

"Not now Apple Bloom, I may have just lost my only daughter" Sweetie Belle said.

"Hey mom" a voice said be hide her with Sweet Heart smiling "I thought you was busy today?" She asked as Sweetie Belle wrapped her in a hug.

"Oh Sweet Heart I thought I lost you" Sweetie Belle said making her lose her breath

"If you keep this up you will" Sweet Heart manger to say. Making her mother let go.

'So mom isn't going to talk, who else may know. Pinkie' she thought "Hey mom is alright if I just go to Sugar Cube Corner I promise to back home before three o'clock"

"Of course Sweet Heart but" Sweetie Belle said as her daughter has already speed off.

"Ya know she up to somethin' right?" Apple Bloom asked

"Oh yeah, she my daughter but what?" Sweetie Belle question

Sweet Heart entered Sugar Cube Corner as a rushing pink pony ran passed her. As the small filly could a seat, as Pinkie stopped at her table smiling.

"Hello Sweet Heart" Pinkie greeted

"Hi Pinkie, where's Rainbow?"

"Just going her job, should be back any minute. So what can I get you?" Pinkie asked

"A chococate shake please" Sweet Heart said as the pink pony bolted off. As she quickly got back with her order.

"Anything else?" Pinkie asked

"Yeah do you know anything about the tale of the mare in the woods?" Sweet Heart asked as Pinkie sat opposite of her

"That's just a bed time story you're smarter then that to believe..."

"I seen her, I went to the forest and meet her" Sweet Heart said as Pinkie blinked in confusion

"Look the only pony who went in those and never return was..."

"Pinkie" Rainbow cried as she got wrapped in a hug

"Hiya, Dashie. How was your say?" She said as she lightly kissed her lips as Pinkie watch Sweet Heart leave the shop.

"So Pinkie was little to no help" she said to herself "But all I need is an name then that's the mare. But who? There's Twilight might be out with her husband, Fluttershy I don't want to hang in the same place as Screwball and Discord. Applejack could be helpful but her mute daughter, oh it hopeless isn't" Sweet Heart said closing her eyes

Sweet Heart knocked on the door to the Carousel Boutique as Rarity open the open as the young unicorn filly got pulled into a tight hug.

"Oh, Sweet Heart it has been far to long, how are you my dear?" Rarity asked

"Losing...Air" Sweet Heart said making the grown unicorn let go of her as Sweet Heart crashed to the ground.

"Aunt Rarity, is Unlce Looker home?" She asked

"Yes, you can talk to him while I get some dress I made for you" Rarity saud walking off as Sweet Heart's eyes widen in fear.

"Quick Unlce Looker, Aunt Rarity is getting me dresses I need to know stuff about the tale; the mare in the woods, now. Please" Sweet Heart said as Looker blinked

"I don't know much but all I know is a filly went into The Everfree Forest and never return who was your mother old fillyfriend" Looker said

"But mom said she never dated anypony I remember because I keep on setting up on blind dates" Sweet Heart said

"Sweet Heart I hope you still there, I'll be down in a minute" Rarity called out

"Run. Sweet Heart and don't look back, don't worry about me I'll be alright I hope. Go run" Looker said as the young filly ran out of the Carousel Boutique.

"Mother!" Sweet Heart cried out as she entered the house as Sweetie Belle was writing on her note book.

"Yes, Sweet Heart?" Sweetie Belle asked as her eyes didn't leave the page

"So you have dated somepony haven't you" Sweet Heart as Sweetie Belle turned to face her.

"Once but that was long ago, she gone anyway" Sweetie Belle said as Sweet Heart watched her mother fight her tears.

"What...What happen?" She asked

"She turned into a monster" Sweetie Belle said as she stood up "Now no more questions it's time for dinner and then bed"

Sweet Heart let out a fake yawn as she climbed up the stairs to her room. "Night, mom. See you in the morning" she cried out

"Have sweet dreams, Sweet Heart" Sweetie Belle cried back.

Sweet Heart slowly but quietly climbed out of her bed. Careful to not make a sound so her mother didn't know she has left. Covering a pillow with her blanket, she walked trying to not make a sound, as she climbed out the window.

A heavy set of knocks came from the door as the dark coated mare turned to see that somepony was at her door.

The mare open the door as Sweet Heart walked in and smiled to her

"Oh, it you again, what are you doing back here again?" The mare asked

"Hello miss woods mare or should I say Scootaloo?" Sweet Heart said with a smile as the woods mare stop looking at the young unicorn.

"I don't know what you're talking about now if you would I want to be left alone" the woods mare said

"But my mom; Sweetie Belle wants you back she can't move on unless you come back" Sweet Heart said as the mare let out a sigh.

"It's for the better that I stay away from her. Trust me, Sweetie Belle doesn't want to see me" the woods mare said

"But besides worrying over me which I don't know why she does that? But she always talk about you and doesn't well can't move on. She loved you and still does. Why not come back?" Sweet Heart asked as she held out her hoof

"Because of my past. I can't" the woods mare said as Sweet Heart rolled her eyes

"That happen in the past this is the present. No pony cares want has happen years before, you can't solve your problems without help from your friends" Sweet Heat said as she smiled.

"But where would I start? I been gone for so long?" The woods mare asked

"With me, I'll be happy to be your friend. Please just come back with me, back to Ponyville" Sweet Heart said as the woods mare grabbed her hoof. "So was I right? I just sort of just guess that your the third crusaders ya know that..."

"Oh, this is going to be a long walk" the woods mare said with a sigh.

Sweetie Belle walked up and open her daughter bedroom door and smiled as she saw that her daughter was gone with just pillows covering that she gone missing.

"Sweet Heart!" Sweetie Belle cried out

"What mom?" Sweet Heart asked as Sweetie Belle turned to look be hide her to see her daughter and a mare wearing a black coat

"Where was you?" Sweetie Belle asked

"Just the Everfree Forest, but I found somepony you might like" Sweet Heart said as she sang her last few words

"Another blind date?" Sweetie Belle question as Sweet Heart shock her head.

"Don't be silly, it her" Sweet Heart said as Sweetie Belle looked over at the mare in the dark coat.

"Really?" Sweetie Belle asked her daughter as she nodded her head

"Well first promise me that you won't freak out" the woods mare said

"I promise" Sweetie Belle said

"Pinkie Promise" the woods mare said

"Fine, cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye. Wait how do you know what a Pinkie Promise is?"

"Because we used to do it when we was fillies" she said taking off the hood as a long purple mane and orange coat smiled at her.

"YOU! I don't believe it! Fifteen years, fifteen years. You're gone and you think you can just walk back into my life just like that? Just like that!?" Sweetie Belle question with a yell.

"Don't worry about her she just have years of rage build up so just let her let it out" Scootaloo said as Sweet Heart nodded as Sweetie Belle hugged her.

"I missed you, so much" Sweetie Belle said as Scootaloo hugged her back

"I missed you too, and hey I have stop being an idiot" Scootaloo said as Sweet Heart started hopping up and down.

"Oh, this is the best! Now I have two mom's. So when the wedding?" Sweet Heart asked as Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle started laughing as Sweet Heart look at them in confusion. "I wasn't joking"
