The Lunar Box
The Lunar Box
Load Full StoryLuna was that type of mare who kept lots of secrets but left no gesture to having secrets at all. One of Luna's secrets was the Lunar Box. This one of her more rare secrets because her sister, Celestia, does not know about the Box at all. Luna let Celestia know a lot of her secrets, but the Lunar Box was not one of them. It was just something Luna liked to keep private. She intended to keep it that way.
Luna awoke one morning to a fear. The fear of the Princess Meeting later that day. Princess Meetings are meetings the four princesses have each month to discuss what problems need to be solved and how to stop them. However, Cadance was on an important call in the Crystal Empire because many a crime are happening there. It would just be Celestia, Luna, and Twilight. Luna knew that if she slipped just one word of the box, curious little Twilight or nosy Celestia would try to get in on it. Luna was VERY easy to bribe.
Luna hopped out of bed, slowly stepping into her purple bunny slippers. She had gotten them last Hearth's Warming Eve from Fluttershy and was very grateful. In fact, Luna practically wore them every day. As she stumbled over to her dressed to grab her crown, she decided to shake on her box, just in case Celestia was snooping around in her room last night and took the box. Luna ducked to look under her bed. Yep, the glowing blue box was still in it's place.
Luna fixed the crown atop her head. She struggled to keep her eyes open as she walked clumsily down a long three flights of stairs. She approached the kitchen, Celestia slurping a coffee at the table. "Morning, Luna." Celestia hummed as she continued to read the newspaper she held in her magic aura.
"Good morning, Tia." Luna replied, sitting down across from her sister. The chef's assistant, who dealt with the drinks, came and poured Luna a glass of coffee. "Thanks!" Luna exclaimed, and, in that little moment she took a swig of her coffee, she flipped a bit that was in her robe pocket to the chef's assistant. He caught the coin, smiling at Luna gratefully. Luna winked back at him.
"So, Luna, how'd ya sleep?" Celestia said, tossing the crumpled up newspaper behind her. One of the guards stealthily caught the paper and disposed of it.
"Terribly. We seriously need to talk to someone about getting a water bed, like yours. Mine is like a boulder." Luna said as the chef set breakfast in from of them. "How did you sleep, on a happier note?" Luna asked, taking another chug of the coffee. The coffee the chef's assistant made was always delicious. He deserved more than a single bit every once in a while. Luna decided to look into that when she had spare time.
"Royally, I must admit. They added a heater to mine." Celestia said, sitting up proudly. Luna rolled her eyes. It was always Tia who got the special attention. The Royal decorators left Luna with a rock hard bed, but happened to give Celestia a water bed. That was three years ago.
"Seriously, Tia?! You get all the special attention. I take time to be nice to everypony and you just sit back and let others pamper you!" Luna complained. And it was true. Whenever Celestia was around everypony did things for her, while Luna sat back and tried to compliment on somepony's mane or flip a servant a bit.
"Luna, calm down! I really don't feel like sending you to the moon again. I mean, look what happened when you came back! You almost shrouded the land in eternal darkness." Luna couldn't help but smile. Even though that was a bad time for everypony, Celestia happened to make it sound hilarious.
"Oh, Tia, you can make anything funny." Luna laughed.
"You're the one with a sense of humor."
Both the princesses laughed. "You know, Tia, I may get mad at you sometimes for being so bossy, but honestly, no pony is as fortunate as I am to have such an amazing sister." Luna said, jumping out of the chair. She leapt onto her older sister like a little filly. Celestia giggled.
"I feel the same way, Luna." Celestia said. The doorbell rang, and the chef's assistant ran to get it. In walked Twilight Sparkle.
"Good morning, Princesses!" Twilight Sparkle said, already looking ready for the day. Luna waved generously while Celestia got up. She gave Twilight a big good morning hug.
"Good morning, Twilight Sparkle! I presume your ready for the meeting?" Celestia said, scanning Twilight up and down. Twilight smiled, and nodded. Luna was watching them and, well, she felt left out. Even Twilight got treated better than she did. Nothing against Twilight, of course. Luna liked Twilight.
"And good morning to you, Luna!" Twilight said, looking around Celestia so she could wave. Luna waved back, feeling uncool and not like a princess at all. Luna stopped waving, straightened her posture, and smiled.
"Good morning to you as well, Twilight." Luna said, trying to sound large. The three princesses laughed together. It was great that they were all good friends. The meetings would be chaotic if they didn't. Luna hopped across the room and embraced Twilight tightly. Twilight hugged back.
