Friendship is not what you think :)
RARITY_RARITY PRESENTS:
“FRIENDSHIP IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK”
IN MEMORY OF AN OLD FRIEND.
(thaman: take out the caution part and the "not to confuse you" part)
THIS BOOK HAS NO ROMANCE IN IT.
It was a nice summer day; Fluttershy’s birds were singing and Applejack was ready to harvest some apples. Twilight was sitting at home, reading her favorite book "Friendship is Not What You Think." The title was somewhat ominous and it peaked Twilight's attention. The lavender mare wanted to know more.
The book wasn't long. In fact, the book's length was rather embarrassing compared to the epics Twilight's library inhabited. There was only one chapter, but its brevity made its message more poignant. Even its title, "Friendship is Not What You Think," made Twilight think and contemplate.
Twilight opened the book, and started reading. She thought it was strangely funny. (thaman: Why does Twilight think it's funny?)
Chapter 5: (thaman: You just said there was one chapter, but this is chapter 5? How? Also, I'm making the chapter italicized so people can tell it's the story within the story.)
I will tell you a tale about my friend, whom I trust the most, and why this trust is validated.
It happened on last Saturday. I remember that terrifying storm. I was with him. We saw a huge tree. This sounds strange, but that tree killed my soul... and now I am a sinner. (thaman: Although that last sentence is kinda cool, it comes out of nowhere)
I was standing next to him when the storm came. It came without warning and without precedence, destroying anything and anypony who was unfortunate enough to come across its path. We had little choice-- we went under the tree to wait for the storm to pass.
After ten minutes of talking under that tree, we heard birds singing and thought that the storm ended. I went to check it, because the tree's branches were too long and too heavy to see through. I decided that I would go alone, because I don't want him to get injured. I went out and saw that there was no rain... but the sky was still ash-gray.
I was only four meters away from the tree when a bolt of lightning stroked the tree, catching it on fire.
I didn't know what to do; I was petrified with fear. I was shouting his name out loud so he knew I was near, but he didn't come out. The fire left nothing standing. The tree fell on the grass, still burning and still searing to the touch. The tree seemingly changed color in an instant, transforming it all black. Its ash was on my face, but I didn't react. I couldn't. I was standing still, in hope that he was behind the tree.
I went behind the tree, and thank Celestia, he was there, but with a piece of wood was in him. I ran to him and his eyes were full of blood. He was screaming in pain, and I remember what he said:
"Now, when I am dying I should tell the truth.... remember you said friendship is not what I think it is? I know what it is: It's when two people are together until the end."
Those were the words he said to me as he closed his eyes and took his final breath. Those words will forever be embedded in my soul.
END OF THE CHAPTER 5.
Twilight just looked at those final words. She found them eerily funny, yet she didn't know why. The book was old, she knew that. But she couldn't shake the feeling. Maybe I don't understand what the author is saying...
"Rainbow Dash?! Fluttershy?! Wait.... TWILIGHT?!" said Twilight in confusion while trying to understand those two lines.
"Twilight, what happened?" said Spike, looking at Twilight with terror.
"No... nothing important... just a little..." said Twilight with hesitation and with a funny look on her face.
"...Okay? So I can go now, yes?" interrupted Spike. He was clearly annoyed at the sudden outburst.
“Yes, you can go Spike, but first, bring me some paper and a pen to write.”
“I am on my way!” said Spike, running up the stairs.
Spike went to Twilight’s room. There he made his way to the table, on which were was pen and a piece of paper. The dragon couldn't help but notice that the window in Twilight’s room was open. Spike wanted to close it, but an owl flew in and gave a letter. Spike was a bit confused, but nevertheless, he opened the letter and read it. “Hmmm, I don’t think Twilight should read it,” said Spike while trying to read the letter.
Spike ran down stairs and saw that Rainbow Dash was now in the room. She's probably searching for the newest Daring Do book, thought Twilight, who was just staring at that old book and trying to say something.
“I want,” said Twilight while reading the book. (thaman: This doesn't make a lot of sense... but okay.)
“Hmmm, Twilight? I have pen, paper and a…..” said Spike uncomfortably.
“Yes, What’s that? Oh! Thanks, Spike! You are the greatest assistant and friend I could ask for!” said Twilight, looking at her number one assistant.
“Oh, well... thanks? And here… someone wrote you a letter,” said Spike.
“Thanks! I'll read it later!” said Twilight, taking the letter.
After that, Twilight continued reading those two lines and writing some words on the paper Spike gave her. But unexpectedly Dash came closer to Twilight. “Ah, Twilight? What are you doing?” Twilight didn't answer. She was too engrossed in her work.
“Ok, I have to go now, see ya guys!” said Dash, on her way to the door, clearly taking the hint that she wanted to be alone.
“Bye!” said Twilight and Spike.
“Hmmm, Spike, can you read the letter for me?” asked Twilight.
“Sure! *ahem* My dear Twilight, this letter was sent to you by my owl, if not then I am at home. You have the book 'Friendship is Not What You Think' and I am the author…”
Twilight jumped on her feet and took the letter.
“And I want to meet with you today at four o' clock. If you read the main chapter, you will know where I lost my trustful friend… I want to meet at that place. But you know, there was only one tree at that time, and now it’s a center of the city. Do you know where the Bakery is? If yes, come there. Please, I need to talk. Your Author."
“Ah, Twilight? I guess you should hurry a little bit…. It’s already three forty,” said Spike looking at the clock.
“Spike?! You know what this means?! I AM GOING TO MEET WITH MY FAVORITE BOOK AUTHOR!" shouted Twilight.
She went upstairs to get dressed and to get her hair done. She took one of the dresses Rarity made and went to take a brush. After she brushed her hair, she looked at the clock. It was already three fifty. She ran outside with that book and the piece of paper.
She came to the spot. There, she saw Pinkie Pie who was playing with the little twins, Rainbow Dash who was on the bench and reading her favourite book, and Fluttershy who was trying to catch Angel.
But at the corner of the bakery, she saw a shadow of a pony; she went there to see who was there. When she was able to see the pony, she saw an old figure, with a tail like Rainbow Dash’s but with grey hair. In fact, the resemblance to Rainbow Dash was surprising.
