Luna Per Tempus
Chapter 1 : Escape
Load Full StorySeveral weeks after the two princesses' coronation as the guradians of Equestria and the construction of the Castle of the Two Sisters, Luna has been getting quite bored. Even pranking Kibitz, their butler, wasn't fun enough. So she decided to sneak into the restricted area in the Royal Library one night.
On her way to the library, as usual, the guards were fast asleep, although still standing in position. Luna notices that one of the busts of her father standing on a marble column was no longer beside the door. "Hmm, the door's locked," she whispers to herself. She unclips a moon hairpin from her short, blue mane, and picks the lock. The lock opened with a loud click, not waking up the guards. She then quietly trots into the library, using her unicorn magic to light up the room.
"Hmm, let's see, History of Dark Magic, Horrible Beasts and Where To Find Them, The Lies of Flocke Lamora, and―oooh, what's this one?" Luna curiously said, blowing away the dust from the spine of the book. "...The Technology Beyond Tomorrow? I should read this one next!" she exclaimed silently with a big smile, walking away from the restricted area. All through the night, she read under her bed covers, until she suddenly fell asleep on her book.
The next morning...
As Luna dashed out of her bedroom, down the stairs, and into the Great Hall, she finds Celestia sitting on her usual chair at the table, drinking from her favorite coffee cup which says 'I Hate Mondays'. "Good morning Luna. You should remember to fix yourself before you eat at the table, sis," Celestia says, giving a concerned look at Luna's morning mane. "What do you mea―? Oh, sorry," she answers, taking a sip of orange juice from her glass. "Where's mom and dad?" Luna asks. "They left early for a Royal Summit at Saddle Arabia. I've always wanted to see Saddle Arabia," Celestia says dreamily, with her hoof on her cheek. "Bleh, sounds boring. I'd rather go to the Crystal Empire! There's, like, crystal everything there! Crystal corn, crystal ponies, all you can think of! Just imagine..." Luna's voice was then replaced by a much deeper one, which belonged to their butler, Kibitz. "Your highnesses, please finish your breakfast as soon as possible. You will have a meeting with your subjects at 10:30. Then you two will have your early lunch and proceed to Saddle Arabia to meet your parents. Is that clear?" He says as one side of his big, bushy unibrow tilts. "Yes Kibitz," Luna and Celestia say in unison.
"Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh! We're going to Saddle Arabia! Isn't this great, Luna?" Celestia screams with delight to her disappointed sister. "Big deal. It's so boring there. It's got the word history written all over it." Luna says with a grumpy face. Celestia talks Luna's ear off about Saddle Arabian history and culture as they walk to the Canterlot Station. "I've also read in a book that Saddle Arabian food tastes very delicious compared to the food we eat at the castle! Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, they say they don't have unicorns there―" Celestia's voice trails off in Luna's mind as she thinks of a way to sneak out of the train. 'Maybe I should just sneak out of the train and go back to the castle. I'd rather read that book than see history!' Luna thought to herself.
As they went inside the train, Celestia was still babbling on about their destination. "Did you know that more than 20% of Griffonstone has visited Saddle Arabia and decided to stay there for more than a year? It must be very interesting to live in a Saddle Arabian house!" Celestia said, daydreaming of the ancient civilization of Saddle Arabia. "Pfft, maybe you should travel through time to see Saddle Arabia back then. I bet there's loads of history written all over the place!" Luna said carelessly, not knowing that she's given her rather curious sister a very risky idea. 'Now's my chance to escape!' Luna thought, glancing at the still-open train car door. She cast an invisibility spell on herself, and trotted out the door. Right when she went out of the train car, the doors closed and sped off, leaving a trail of puffy, white smoke from its chimney. "Phew! Glad I didn't lose my tail!" Luna said gladly, undoing the spell she cast upon herself. She then happily trots back to the castle entrance.
A few hours later...
Luna grabs all of the cookies from their pantry to her room. A few minutes after she enters her room with the cookies stuffed in a large jar, she realizes there was a trail of crumbs she left, which Kibitz notices. "Princess??!!" Kibitz yells from the stairs as Luna breaks into a series of giggles. She glides to her bed and opens The Technology Beyond Tomorrow. "*sigh* Oh Luna. What am I going to do with you?" Kibitz asks himself miserably. All of a sudden, he sees a young stallion---a unicorn---burst out from an unforeseen blue portal on the wall. "Oh! Pardon me sir," the stallion says quickly, adjusting the strange top hat on his head. "Uh, b-b-b-but h-h-h-how d-d-did you...?" Kibitz stammers in shock. "Sir, you will have to come with me. Your presence is needed at Bluehoof Headquarters immediately," the stallion continues. He then grabs Kibitz by his collar and pulls him towards the portal, leaving his top hat behind. The portal swiftly closes with a loud whooshing sound. Luna has heard the loud noise, and crept from her door to see it. "Hmm, what's this top hat doing on the floor?" Luna says with curiosity. She brings the top hat to her room and examines it. "Huh, there's a note inside it," she says, putting her hoof inside the hat. "'Egemus auxilio. Tantum eos sistere potest'? Weird, I don't even know Latin." she says, reading the note.
