Cyrine took a deep breath as she stalked something that at least looked like it was made of meat. As she reached the edge of a clearing she peered through the bushes and noticed a strange looking armadillo/raccoon hybrid eating some berries. Her dagger slid silently into place as she crept closer.
The armacoon sniffed the air after it finished its berries before it turned around and saw Cyrine. She sent out a quick strike at the raccoon creature with her dagger, the blade sunk into the side of its face, forcing the eye closest to the dagger to pop out with a wet splorch , the subsequent jerk of the dagger let what remained of its face leak its precious contents out the side… it was dead before it even hit the ground.
Despite the gruesome sight Cyrine didn’t even flinch as she walked over to the creature as if on autopilot and began to use the dagger to cut away at the hide. She silently thanked the Emperor for her time in his service as it gave her hands like a surgeon as she dexterously cut into the meat and made easier to carry bits, while taking some extra on the side for herself of course. She didn’t even feel revulsion at the taste of the raw flesh as she simply swallowed it easily in one gulp every time she brought a piece up to eat.
”This is just getting weirder and weirder…” she thought to herself as she made sure to keep the armor plating on the armacoon for use as armor plating on a future endeavor. “...xenos hide at least is better than nothing.” She muttered as she packed everything up and headed back to the cave for the night.
“Nice work, You may just be the first if only goblin in your generation to evolve.” The goblin elder said when he saw Cyrine enter the cave with a few remaining pieces of meat and some skins.
“Evolve?” Cyrine parroted in confusion.
“When a ‘monster’ fulfills certain requirements they can evolve and become another species. The evolution does more than change your appearance though as it gives you the powers of whatever species you become.” The goblin elder said.
“And how do I evolve?” Cyrine asked as she made her way into the cave.
“Killing and eating other monsters that are equal or greater in power to you.” the elder said as if it was obvious.
The female goblin nodded as she sat in a spot of the cave she had claimed for herself. She eyed the dagger and quickly cleaned it using the rag she was dressed in before she began to drag the dagger in the shape of a two-headed aquila on her flat chest. ”At least this makes it easier… she mentally groaned every time she winced in pain as she carved her devotion scar. It was light as she carved, going slowly so that she could go over the scar several times before she finally laid down to rest.
The next two days went by fast as Cyrine hunted more creatures like rabbits with horns on their heads and a few large snakes as well as some armacoons. She smiled a bit more in the hunts as she found herself to be getting quite a bit better with a blade, during one of the extra armacoon hunts she had actually decided to test out just how edible one of the armor plates on the creatures was.
...needless to say it was bland, but she felt something happen shortly afterward that pushed her to experiment with other animals as well while she hunted so that she could find out just what happened to prompt her sudden mutation that had given her the ability to grow similar armor plating.

Cyrine’s eyes went wide as she practically bumped into what looked like a videogame text box. “What the hell?”

“Uh… no?” she replied in slight confusion as the text disappeared. After a few hesitant and alert seconds she finally decided to get up and continue hunting, this time for something just a bit stronger.
The bushes next to Cyrine began to rustle as she passed through a particularly thick part of the forest and she began to hear growling sounds.
She brought up her knife and crouched low into a defensive stance as she got ready to dodge.
A wolf made of wood with glowing green eyes jumped out of the bush at Cyrine gnashing its jaws as it flew at her face.
Cyrine growled. “Aww come on… how the hell am I supposed to eat that?” she complained as she caused her flashbang power to go off in its face. the flashbang sent the timberwolf flying back a bit but it shook itself off and began to circle her.
Her eyes tracked the wolf as she quickly tried to think of some way to escape with her life. Nothing seemed to come to her as she kept her dagger at the ready. There was no way she could win if she made the first strike, it would easily overpower her before she could even try to hurt it.
“Hey I think I heard growling from that direction!” A male voice said from somewhere nearby.
A feeling that something bad had just happened washed over every creature in the area, none were spared from the sudden bad feeling just as a loud bang accompanied the flash that went off in front of the Timberwolf so that the female goblin could escape while it was dazed.
“What the buck was that!?” A female voice said as Cyrine ran from the timberwolf and the pair of voices.
Cyrine quickly scrambled her way up a tree so that she could try and get a better view of the newcomers. The first that emerged from the brush was an earth pony stallion, followed closely by a unicorn mare.
“Oh horse apples! It's a timberwolf!” The stallion said before he took a shield off of his back and unclipped a mace from his belt.
“Whats a timberwolf doing so close to town? It isn't even zap apple season!” The mare said as she charged up a spell in her hand.
The ponies then engaged the timberwolf and managed to reduce it to a pile of twigs before setting the twigs on fire with a spell. Cyrine looked on curiously as she simply watched from the branches of the semi-tall tree she had scrambled up.
“I know a timberwolf can't create explosions, so what do you think it attacked before we arrived?” the mare asked as she got ready to cast another spell.
That was all the prompting Cyrine needed to beat a hasty retreat through the boughs of the trees in a calculated dash for somewhere to hide… she was trying to be fast, but she had to be careful as well. Fortunately her observation paid off when she came to a cave that would let her wait out the night away from the ponies who had attacked the timberwolf. Once she was fairly certain that she wasn’t going to get attacked she found a spot that was mostly-hidden in the cave to rest for the night.
As Cyrine began to fall asleep a textbox appeared in front of her.
Requirements to evolve have been fulfilled, proceed with evolution? [Y/N]
She groaned irritably and dismissed the box by waving her hand over the ‘Y’. “Shut up…” She mumbled as she tried to sleep and began to chant in a hushed tone.

The next morning was when she noticed the most significant changes, her skin tone had actually returned to the one she was familiar with, her hair reverted back to the blonde color she had grown up with… even her eyes had the same misty grey that she had seen in the mirror every day as she looked over herself in the pool of water that had formed at the entrance of the cave overnight.
“Ruby?” Said a familiar voice from behind Cyrine.
The hobgoblin straightened in shock just before she whirled around with her blade drawn. Her grey eyes scanned over the newcomer. “L-...Lilith?” she asked in disbelief at the voice.
“Y-yes?” Came the voice again from a blue blob that was shivering in fear a few feet away.
Cyrine slowly began to lower the dagger. “Y-you’re not dead?” she nearly whispered.
“Um… No?” The slime responded nervously.
Cyrine couldn’t believe her senses, so instead of blubbering a happy hello or bolting out of the cave screaming in fear… she simply collapsed to her knees and began to sob for a reason even she couldn’t explain.
“Um, Ruby? are you ok?” The slime now identified as ‘Lilith’ asked as it began to inch towards Cyrine.
“N-no… I’m not okay…” Cyrine choked out. “...I’ve lived for months with the love of my life taken away… paralyzed with depression… and then I died… and now I’m some sort of hobgoblin that was born because a pony mare had been raped by a goblin… no I’M NOT ALRIGHT!!” She began to sob a bit louder as she drove the dagger into the floor of the cave, each pause had her shoving the dagger into the ground again and again until the blade itself threatened to crack.
Lilith stayed silent as she slowly approached Cyrine, unsure what to do besides just sit next to her former lover. If she could have she would have been crying and hugging Cyrine, glad to finally be reunited, but was unable to to her current physical state. then with a pang of guilt in her heart she stopped two feet away from Cyrine, silently blaming herself for their separation.
The hobgoblin took a few more sniffs before she finally looked up. “I… I just wanted to be able to hug you again… why did so much have to happen?” She asked as her voice cracked.
“I don't know… I wish I did, but I don't…” Lilith said, her tone overflowing with sadness and guilt.
“Can I please have a hug?” Cyrine asked with a sad sniff.
Lilith silently crawled up to Cyrine so that she could be picked up and hugged, crying tears of joy in her mind that she wasn't going to be abandoned. Cyrine ignored the wet squish she felt as she happily brought the slime up to her bare chest and hugged her old lover.
“So does this mean we're still together?” Lilith asked, silently hoping that Cyrine would say yes.

Lilith and Cyrine both stared at the text box. “Can you see those things to?” Lilith asked.
“Of course… I just assumed that it’s part of this world.”

Lilith blinked a few times from confusion before she looked down at herself to see her transformation. Her eyes then went wide as she looked herself over and a dopey grin formed on her face. as soon as she finished looking herself over though she looked over at Cyrine and her face gained a cat like smirk before she glomped the hobgoblin. “Yay! I look like a real girl again!” She squealed as she snuggled Cyrine.
As much as she wanted to stay mad at Lilith for what happened not even a few moments ago, she couldn’t help but feel a genuine happiness again when she was hugged. “Ever since I woke up… I’ve been spending the past four weeks learning how to use my psychic powers and this dagger until I get a better weapon.” Cyrine replied. “Now I need to get a better set of clothes.”
“Well, you never cease to impress… You used to be afraid of fighting and now you are a cute huntress.” Lilith said with a chuckle. “And my slime kinda made you look like zero suit samus when you were asleep.”
“Hmm… you think we could do that again until I get a new outfit?” Cyrine asked as she looked over the slime.

“I wish we could disguise you as one of them, you would make one adorable Samus. Sadly I can't disguise people, and if I tried to go in they would find out that I’m a slime almost instantly…” Lilith sighed.
The hobgoblin shrugged. “Then there’s nothing we can do about it until after we have wealth and power.” She explained before she made her way back into a deeper part of the forest.
“So what are you going to hunt for? I haven't left that cave since coming here until you found me so I have no clue what this world is like.” Lilith asked.
“These strange Armadillo Raccoons are a good source of food, and I have actually been using their pelts to come up with leather-type clothing… not so good for underwear of any kind though, so I’ve had to deal with not having any.” Cyrine sighed a bit as she reflexively brought down another one of the raccoons. “I miss soft underwear…” she muttered.
“At least you can still wear underwear, miss commando.” Lilith said.

“I don’t have a way to make fire… so I’ve had to deal with it being raw the whole time.” Cyrine admitted. “I’d definitely rather have it cooked… but it’s alright as is.” The process for getting the hides made into clothes was slow going, since they had to be dried and had to have quite a bit of the excess fur removed. “So… what kinds of abilities do you actually have?”
“Well, I have a couple of them… But first things first, You want any of the meat saved for later?” Lilith asked, standing next to the pile of raw meat.
“I don’t have any salt, so if it’s not eaten quickly it’s going to spoil.”
Lilith shot Cyrine a smirk. “One of my abilities has multiple functions, one of them being something like a pocket dimension that acts as my stomach… You should know that seeing as you were inside of it for a bit…” she said.
“And how long is stuff able to stay in there before it’s irretrievable because you digested it?” Cyrine asked as she finished cleaning the hides.
“Thats a good question…” Lilith replied. “It should be fine though.” she said after thinking it over.
“Hm… so maybe next time I should eat you instead I guess.” Cyrine chuckled as she stood up.
“P-please keep it to only one kind of eating…” Lilith stammered as a blush spread across her face. she then proceeded to turn into a puddle and use her ability [Predator] to stuff the entire pile of meat into her skill’s storage space.
“Pretty nice…” Cyrine chuckled as she got herself back into her usual spot in the cave. “I think we should decorate this place up a bit… make this my new cave instead of the one the goblins have… what do you think Lilith?”
“Sure, I don't mind if we turn this into our home… It's a lot safer than a house at least.” Lilith said. “Now, you wanted to know what my abilities are?”
“Of course, I need to have an idea of what you can do so that I can decide whether you’d be better hunting with me or staying here to help keep me excited.” Cyrine chuckled as she laid back against the stone groove. “If you want… you could explain while pleasing me…” She teased.
“Ha ha… Cheeky today aren't you?” Lilith quipped. “Ok, so this is the list of my abilities… [Great Sage] - A skill that improves my mental capabilities, [Predator] - a skill that allows me to absorb things to (store, analyze, ect.) things in my body, the basic slime abilities [Dissolve, Absorb, Regenerate], a few passive abilities that allow me to hear and see, and miscellaneous resistances.” She listed off.
Cyrine smiled a bit. “Interesting… definitely a lot of useful abilities.” She said with a smile before shifting herself a bit. “I could use a warm slime blanket if you want…”
Lilith smirked and rolled her eyes before walking over and laying down next to cyrine and holding the smaller girl like a body pillow. “Like this?” She cooed, unconsciously pressing her breasts against the hobgoblins shoulder.
“A little bit…” Cyrine replied as she shifted a bit so that she was on her hands and knees above the slime.
“Why did you move?” Lilith asked, slightly pouting.
“So I could do this…” Cyrine explained as she lowered herself onto Lilith, letting herself sink slightly into the slime with a hum. “You’re warm…”
“You wanted to use me for a waterbed?” Lilith chuckled, shifting the hobgoblin so that she could use her breasts as a pillow.
Cyrine shook her head as she nuzzled into Lilith’s breasts. “Nope… body glove…” she hummed.
Lilith shook her head, remembering how Cyrine did something similar to her back in elementary school. “More like ‘snuggly time’” She chuckled, just loud enough for Cyrine to hear.
The hobgoblin smiled as she let her hand rub Lilith’s cheek. “Absolutely…”
“Good night…” Lilith said with a smirk before kissing Cyrine on the lips.

“Wakey wakey sleepyhead~” Lilith teased as she tickled Cyrine awake.
Cyrine groaned as she shifted and tried to stay in bed. “Noo…” She mumbled as she pressed her face into Lilith’s slime.
“Oh my~ So early in the morning and you're already at it?” Lilith teased, looking at Cyrine who just planted her face in her crotch. Cyrine nodded as she pressed her mouth against Lilith’s pussy and began to slurp at her like jello, swishing the slime around in her mouth before swallowing. As this happened Lilith blushed as she watched and felt Cyrine literally eat her crotch, causing her to become slightly aroused.
“You’re delicious…” Cyrine moaned as she continued to eat.
Lilith pulled herself out from under Cyrene and stared at her, her blush growing as she noticed how she left a layer of slime covering most of the hobgoblins body. “Eep!” was all she able to say as she tried to cover herself.
Cyrine licked her lips as she began to sit up with a yawn. “So… anything you want to do today?”
“N-not really…” Lilith replied, taking a sudden interest in the ground for some reason.
“Then it sounds to me like you’d love to partake in more acts of hedonism.” Cyrine chuckled as she let her hand press against and sink into Lilith’s belly.
“Sounds like you're addicted to me~” Lilith teased.
“Of course I am… would you really expect otherwise?” Cyrine asked with a smile as she leaned over to wrap her lips around one of Lilith’s nipples.
“Little one want milk?” Lilith joked as she backed up out of Cyrine’s reach, forcing the hobgoblin to work for her playtime.
The hobgoblin leapt at the slime with a playful growl. Only to faceplant into one of the pieces of meat from yesterday as Lilith ran in random directions around the room, even up the walls and across the ceiling. “Aww come on! That’s no fair! I can’t walk on the ceiling!” The hobgoblin complained. In response Lilith just blew a raspberry and continued to run randomly with a cat like grin on her face.
“Have to catch me if you want to squeeze me~” Lilith called as she ran directly behind Cyrine just to mess with her.
It wasn’t much longer before Cyrine ran out of stamina and was doubled over in exhaustion as she tried to keep up with a slime that didn’t appear to have any limits on hers.
“Tired already? seems you need to work out more~” Lilith teased as she snuck up on Cyrine just to pinch her on the butt before jumping onto the ceiling of the cave.
“We’ve been running… half the day…” Cyrine groaned as she collapsed to the ground. “...that’s more stamina than even the ponies had…”
“Realy? I thought it was only a few minutes…” Lilith admitted.
Cyrine pointed to the cave entrance that was lit up with the afternoon sun. “Didn’t you wake me up in the morning?”
“...Yes?” Lilith said before she dropped to the ground and began to fidget with her hair.
“Well… I’m exhausted because we’ve been running for hours…” Cyrine replied as she sat up. “Can I please have more of you now?” she asked with wide anime eyes.
“Hmm, no.” Lilith replied as she booped Cyrine’s nose.
“Why not!?” The hobgoblin whined.
“Desert is saved for after dinner~” Lilith teased as she pulled out one of the pieces of meat from the previous day and stuffed it in Cyrene's mouth.
Cyrine pouted a little before she began to eat, quickly swallowing the piece in one gulp. “I know… but what if I wanted you for dinner?” she challenged.
“You need protein. slimes have no protein.” Lilith stated matter of factly. Cyrine pouted a bit as she continued eating, munching on the meat with whole pieces that simply seemed to disappear into her stomach without inflating her belly. “By the way… Do you know what your abilities are? we discussed mine yesterday, so why don't you tell me yours?” Lilith asked as Cyrine finished off the meat from yesterday.
“Well… the first abilities I found out I had were psychic abilities from the Warhammer forty-thousand lore… not all of them mind you, but I can make the world go weird if I put my mind to it.” Cyrine replied as she rubbed her stomach. “And then after that I found out that I can literally eat anything… it turned out to be pretty handy.”
“Huh… Interesting.” Lilith commented before she saw something pass through the woods in front of the cave. “I think something just passed the cave, want to go check it out?” She asked.
Cyrine quickly stood up and got into position so that she could get her slime suit, since the hides were still drying. “Of course.” she said definitively.
Lilith smirked and wrapped herself around Cyrine, turning into a blue bodysuit. “Then let's go!” She said excitedly. The hobgoblin sprinted quietly after the movement.
As they caught up with the creature that passed by their cave they were confused, it was some kind of purple bipedal lizard with green spines. they noticed it had a stick with a checkered cloth holding a few possessions over its shoulder indicating it was sentient.
“Think it speaks the same language?” Lilith asked, curious about what it was and if it was freindly.
Cyrine looked on in slight confusion as well. “So far everything that could talk has miraculously spoken the same language… so… if it’s actually intelligent it likely speaks the same language as us…”
“Want to go say hi then?” Lilith asked.
“Sure.” Cyrine said as she made her way to an overhead tree branch. “Hey!” She called out.
“Wha? Who goes there!” The lizard said, worry slightly evident in its voice.
“Oh good, you do speak the same language… don’t you know it’s pretty dangerous to traverse the Everfree?” Cyrine called out.
“Y-yes I know, I live in the nearby village of ponyville after all… Who are you?” The purple lizard said, less worried and more confused by the friendliness of the mysterious voice.
The hobgoblin moved acrobatically through the tree limbs before landing nearby. “Just someone who doesn’t like people dying needlessly… what brings you so far into such a dangerous place?” she asked as she leaned against a tree.
“U-um I’m following the dragon migration…” The purple lizard said. “If you don't mind me asking, what are you?”
“I’m a special kind of Hobgoblin… what’s a lizard like you going after dragons for?” Cyrine asked in slight confusion.
“Wait, you're a hobgoblin!?” The lizard said before starting to back away in fear.
“Way to go Cyrine you scared the little guy.” Lilith scolded.
“I didn’t scare him!” She shouted at her bodysuit. “I was giving him fair warning about this place in the hopes he’d return to town!” Cyrine gave a small huff before she looked up again. “Actually… it might be a good idea to get him to shelter before it gets much darker…”
“Who are you talking to? Is there another goblin nearby!?” The purple lizard asked, preparing his stick to whack anything that came near him.
“There’s no goblins nearby, just me… and it gets several times more dangerous out here at night… you should come with me, I’ve got a cave you can stay in for the night before going back to town.”
“Wha?” The purple lizard said, staring at the hobgoblin with a shocked expresion.
“You ok little guy?” Lilith asked, forming her head on Cyrene's shoulder.
“What is THAT!?” The purple lizard shouted.
“Look, I can explain back at the cave… unless you want to risk being eaten by one of the packs of wood wolves that patrol this place.” Cyrine urged with a slightly annoyed tone.
The purple lizard gulped. “O-okay… Lead the way…” He stammered. The hobgoblin led the way back to the cave that she was staying in and collected the dried hides that were outside of the cave.
“Come on… I don’t have a way to set up a firepit… but it doesn’t get that cold around here anyway.” Cyrine explained as she took the hides in and began to stitch them together.
“Um, maybe I can help you make a fire pit?” The purple Lizard offered.
“Do you have flint and tinder? I’ve got a pit set up over near the entrance of the cave.” The hobgoblin replied.
“No, but I don't need one. I’m a dragon!” The purple lizard replied, puffing out his chest.
“Wait, you're a dragon!?” Lilith asked, jumping off of Cyrine. Even the hobgoblin stopped stitching her new outfit together once the slime was back in her own form. “I love dragons! What's your name?” She squealed, getting ready to pounce on the small purple dragon.
“Um, I’m Spike. and may I ask who you are and what's going on?” Spike said, slowly backing away from Lilith.
“See, you’re the one scaring him!” Cyrine scolded. “I think dragons are awesome too but you don’t see me smothering the kid.”
“Sorry…” Lilith said puffing her cheeks as she pouted before sitting down.
Cyrine gently put a hand on her shoulder with a smile. “It’s alright…” She cooed before she looked over at Spike. “My name is Cyrine and she’s Lilith… she’s a slime.”
“And Cyrine’s girlfriend!” Lilith chirped before glomping Cyrene's arm.
Spikes eye twitched, he had never heard of an intelligent slime before… let alone a hobgoblin being in a relationship with one. “Well, this is a first…” He observed before turning away with a slight blush.
Cyrine quickly went back to working on her new clothes. “I should be done with my new clothes in a few minutes…” She explained. Lilith just bore a confused expression before she realized what was going on and with a cry of “Mep!” she dove behind Cyrene, her face flushed red from embarrassment.
“I'll, just go light the fire for you real quick…” Spike said nervously before he left to the fire pit and started to try and light it with his fire.
“As soon as you finish those clothes of yours you're making me a dress.” Lilith said to Cyrine as she continued to hide.
“Well… you could have the set I’m currently working on instead… I don’t mind going without clothes.” Cyrine offered.
“Thank you…” Lilith said hugging Cyrine from behind. The hobgoblin nodded and quickly finished the outfit, it was clear that her specialty was not tailoring… but it didn’t look terrible at least.
“I got the fire started for you… And why is the slime wearing cloths? I thought you would be the one wearing them Cyrine…” Spike said, slightly confused.
“I was… but Lilith is a bit more body-conscious than I am, growing up around goblins tends to reduce that embarrassment.” Cyrine explained.
“Huh… Well there's a first time for everything I guess…” Spike commented. “The two of you would probably get along well with my friends.”
“That reminds me…” Cyrine asked. “With dragons being so dangerous… and apparently having so many friends, why would you go after the dragons instead?”
“I was raised by a pony so I don't know much about Dragons so I was going on a quest to try and learn about my origins!” Spike said.
Cyrine nodded. “Yeah… what Lilith and I know about dragons are just myths and legends that our people believe they might have made up or could be true… though one of the common themes was about how they burned and ate towns while looting treasure from kingdoms.”
“Those dragons don’t sound very nice… Wait… your people?” Spike asked.
Cyrine nodded, “Yeah… just because we’re not ponies doesn’t mean we don’t have our own beliefs…” She replied while muttering something under her breath. “...even the goblins have lore and myths about dragons.”
“Were pretty much not from around here.” Lilith said simply as she started to pat Spike on the head with a dopey grin.
“Wow, I never expected to find out this much about another species, let alone make friends with them while on my journey…” Spike wondered.
“Shows what happens when you start looking.” Cyrine chuckled as she picked up a piece of armacoon leg before holding it over the flame.
“So that's what you wanted the fire for…” Spike said, not expecting Cyrine to start cooking. “so what do you and Lilith eat? Pony society has never actually documented what goblins and slimes eat.” Spike said, planing to tease Twilight with what he had learned when he returned.
“Well… most goblins eat whatever they can get their hands on that looks relatively edible… though I’m a special case… Lilith… I’m pretty sure she’s an omnivore.” Cyrine explained as she pulled the leg away and held it out for him. “Want some?”
“Sure?” Spike said, he had never eaten meat growing up but from what these two told him they could so he decided to try it. “Huh, this is pretty good… what is it?” He asked.
“Some sort of armadillo raccoon…” Cyrine replied with a shrug. “It’s pretty good… but I wish we had spices to use on it.”
Lilith just sat there for a minute just listening to their conversation until Cyrine got ready to eat a piece of the cooked meat and jumped for it. As she grabbed the meat in her mouth right out of Cyrine’s hands she proceeded to scamper around the room like a cat trying to get Cyrene to chase her.
“Aww come on Lilith! We have company!” Cyrine whined. “And you ran me ragged this morning!”
Lilith turned to look at Cyrine and gave her a cat like grin through the cooked meat before proceeding to run up a wall and sit on the part of the ceiling just above the hobgoblin. “Mew~”
Cyrine let out a sigh and simply reached for another piece. “Fine… take that one then…” She grumbled as she started the process of roasting another piece of armadillo raccoon.
“Is it just me or is she a bit of an airhead?” Spike asked, laughing at Lilith’s antics under his breath.
“No… it’s not just you… but it’s part of why I love her.”
“Hey Spike? Do you know a purple and a white unicorn along with a rainbow haired pegasus?” Lilith asked from her spot on the ceiling as she swallowed the cooked meat.
“Yeah? How did you know?” Spike asked, slightly confused and caught off guard by the question.
“Because they’re likely coming this way…” Cyrine replied as she began to move back away from the fire.
“We’ll let you have some alone time with them…” Lilith said slowly inching across the ceiling till she was behind a stalactite.
A lavender unicorn was the first to get into the cave. “Spike!? What are you doing out this far from the path?” she asked frantically as she pulled him into a stifling hug.
“Ak! Twilight what are you doing here? I just came here to rest for the night so that I wouldn't be attacked by timberwolves!” Spike said as he gasped for air.
“Spike, dear.. this is goblin territory…” The marshmallow-white unicorn said as she hesitantly stepped into the cave. “...they’re not all that dangerous… but when they have numbers, well…” She trailed off as she looked around cautiously.
“I’m fine… Really, and there isn't anything dangerous in the cave. you can relax.” Spike told the white unicorn in an attempt to calm her.
”I wouldn’t exactly say that…” Cyrine mentally replied as she observed the exchange between the ponies and the dragon as the rainbow-haired pony charged in after making sure there wasn’t anything outside.
“Hey Rainbow, can you help me calm down Rarity?” Spike asked as he noticed the prismatic mare.
Lilith, after seeing Rainbow land, began to crawl out from her hiding spot, unable to resist the urge to get closer to the fuzzy ponies. Cyrine’s eyes were on the unicorns the whole time as she went over the possible powers she would need to help them escape. Sadly Cyrine wouldn't have any time to plan as she noticed Lilith was now above the ponies and ready to glomp one of them, her body tensed as she got her flash bang power ready.
Rainbow saw a glint out of the corner of her eye and turned her head slightly to see what it was when she noticed something standing in the shadows. “Hey! Who goes there!” She shouted as she took a defensive stance.
Cyrine wanted to run, every sense told her to bolt, but she didn’t. “...The owner of this cave… that’s who…” She responded.
“It's ok Rainbow! she’s friendly!” Spike said, trying to prevent a fight.
Cyrine didn’t move, but she didn’t attack as she heard Spike trying to defuse the situation. For some reason she trusted the little dragon to help cool down the hothead before the two glowing horns unleashed their spells.
“And who… are you?” Rairity asked as she fought the urge to screech in fear at the sudden presence in the room.
“Her name is Cyrine. and she let me stay here because it was getting late and there are timberwolves in the area.” Spike said as he stepped in between the ponies and hidden hobgoblin.
“Well… what kind of pony is she?” Twilight asked.
“I’m not a pony.” Cyrine replied. “And until i’m sure you three aren’t just going to attack me… I’m fairly content staying away.”
“But… you helped our little Spikey Wikey and protected him from the dangers of the forest… why would we attack you?” Rarity asked in slight confusion.
“Because I don’t know if you’re going to attack me…” Cyrine replied, trying to let Lilith know she’d need a bit of help. For some reason, being bare while in the face of three possible enemies suddenly really didn’t seem like it would turn out well for her.
Lilith though had different plans. “Fluffy!” She shouted as she lunched from the ceiling and tackled Rainbow to the ground in a hug, unable to hold in her desire to glomp the ponies any longer.
“Emperor damnit Lilith!” Cyrine swore as Twilight and Rarity screamed and broke away from the area of the slime that had fallen from the ceiling.
Spike facepalmed as he sprinted after Twilight and Rarity before dragging both of them back by their tails.
Cyrine walked out into the light of the fire, a bit confident that she wouldn’t be mistaken for a hobg-... well… immediately labeled as a hobgoblin due to having tan skin and blonde hair instead of green skin. The two unmolested ponies looked on in a mixture of fear and slight revulsion from Twilight and Rarity respectively when they noticed the slime and nude creature. “So...I can only guess that you three are the friends that Spike here was talking about having back in the town I was trying to send him back to?”
Twilight hesitantly nodded. “Y-you were… trying to send him back?”
“Of course, it’s dangerous out here and I had to use all the pelts I had to make clothes for Lilith.” Cyrine replied, earning a shocked and disgusted look from the white unicorn.
“Fluffy pegasus~” Lilith cooed as she snuggled Rainbow, somehow when she tackled the rainbow maned pegasus she hadn't splattered and was still wearing the makeshift cloths.
“Yeah… she’s a bit of a goof…” Cyrine sighed as they slowly started to calm down. “We do have some spare space in the cave if you guys want to stay until morning.”
“What hit me?” Rainbow asked as she came out of a daze.
“Um… whatever that creature on top of you is…?” Twilight offered sheepishly.
“I’m a slime girl!” Lilith chirped as she pounced from rainbow and tried to glomp Twilight next, only to smack into a violet shell. “Ow… that… hurt…” She said as she slid down the barrier.
Cyrine sighed a little. “That didn’t hurt… you’ve hit harder than that before.” The hobgoblin replied as she walked over to the slime. “Come on… we’ve got to get ready for bed.”
“Aw… I wanted to cuddle the fuzzy ponies some more!” Lilith whined while giving Cyrine a puppy dog face.
“Maybe if you’re lucky they’ll let you in the morning.” Cyrine replied as she pulled on the hide clothes that she made. Lilith slumped a bit but let herself be dragged away.
“Uh… What just happened?” Rainbow asked in confusion.
“I believe you were part of the mating cycle of slimes…” Twilight replied in slight horror.
“No that was just a hug from a being with a similar personality to pinkie…” Spike said, clearing up some confusion.
“Well… I’d rather not be here much longer than necessary.” Rarity stated as she took a spot next to the fire.
“Do you think you could make them some clothes when we get back to ponyville? They seem to only have each other and that one pair of cloths. And I think they would appreciate some real clothes as a thank you gift for letting us use their cave…” Spike suggested.
“I’d need their measurements… so it would be best if we were able to bring them back to Ponyville… though I don’t believe the townsfolk wouldn’t notice a naked mare and a slime…” Rarity replied as her mind scanned over the tan female. “Do you think they’d be willing to go to Ponyville Spike?”
“Well… I don't know about Cyrine but Lilith would willingly come most likely… though we would have to put her in something… mostly for the safety of the ponies as you have seen demonstrated with Rainbow.” Spike said.
“And I don’t have anything with me that would be able to help… unless they don’t mind teleporting.” Twilight sighed.
“Someone say teleporting!” Lilith said eagerly as she appeared behind Twilight.
The lavender mare let out a shriek and put up a forcefield around herself.
“When did she?” Rainbow asked smartly while feeling like she was in a room full of Pinkies for some reason.
“Dont question it… It's bad enough that she is an intelligent slime…” Spike said wide eyed.
“Lilith! Get back here!” Cyrine called.
“Whoops! My girlfriend is calling… Later!” Lilith said before vanishing into a crack in the wall.
The ponies just stared dumbfounded as spike sighed. “This is going to be a long night…” He said to himself.

Rarity let out a groan as she sat up. “Oh… I can’t wait to get back to my boutique…” she lamented.
“You own a dress shop?” Lilith asked, her eyes somehow sparkling.
The white mare nodded. “Spike wanted me to make a set of clothes for each of you…” She explained groggily. “But we’d need you to come back to Ponyville with us…”
“I’ll go get Cyrine!” Lilith chirped before bouncing away.
“Well… that was easier than I expected…” Rarity stated as Twilight slowly began to wake up.
“Yes… but the question is still if Cyrine would be willing to go…” Twilight commented.
“Fine… I’ll go, but only because it’ll make you happy…” Came the slightly distant voice of the hobgoblin at the insistent pestering of the slime. A moment later there was a loud ‘Squee!’ followed by the slime appearing in front of the ponies holding Cyrine bridal style. “Since we’re going to a town though… can you at least cover me up?” Cyrine asked Lilith as she tried to blink away the tiredness.
“You won't try anything?” Lilith asked in a surprisingly serious tone the ponies hadn’t heard from her before.
“Not until we’re in private…” Cyrine promised.
“Ok~” Lilith said before she wrapped herself around Cyrine and turned into her imitation of Samus’s zero suit on the hobgoblin’s body.
“Much better… I even feel warmer.” Cyrine smiled.
Twilight stuttered out something before she finally had enough sense to talk right. “W-well… let's go.” She said as she began to channel her magic into her horn.
“Let me get spike.” Rainbow said as she shook herself from a daze caused by waking up to see Lilith turn into a suit on Cyrine’s body. She then grabbed spike and came within range of the teleport spell.
With the sound of a bubble popping they were all engulfed in a purple sphere before reappearing at Rarity’s boutique, the inside of which practically screamed high-class dress-store.
“Pretty…” Lilith said as she separated from Cyrine and reformed her own body.
“Yeah… they actually kinda are… though I think I’d still prefer pants and a shirt over the dresses…” Cyrine added.
“Says the one who used to wear black lace~” Lilith teased loud enough to be heard by the ponies.
“I got them as a christmas present… I wasn’t going to just ‘not wear them’...” Cyrine grumbled.
“Then why did you always have them on whenever you came over?” Lilith asked, a impish smirk plastered across her face. she then nommed on Cyrine’s ear before proceeding to hide under the stage.
“Not in front of the dragon…” Cyrine hissed. “Come on… let's get fitted for something to wear…”
“Ok~” Came Lilith’s reply as she started to come out from under the stage. “So where's the measuring room?” she asked as she finished emerging from under the stage.
“Right this way if you will.” Rarity said before leading the couple into a room in back with a stage like in the first room. “Please stand on there while I take your measurements.”
Cyrine looked at Lilith and offered to let the slime get measured first. Lilith shrugged and stepped onto the stand. Rarity smiled a little nervously as she eyed the slime girl but swallowed her disgust and put on one of the best smile masks she could as she hovered her measuring tape in her magical grasp. “So dears… tell me what brings you out this way?” she tried with an almost noticeable nervous edge in her voice.
Lilith looked at Rarity for a few seconds processing the question before responding. “W-well, we don't… Have anywhere else to go…” She admitted, a tear falling from her eye.
Rarity bit her lip a bit as she paused in the middle of her measuring to look over at Cyrine, the hesitant refusal to meet the fashionista’s gaze was enough to let her know that the two of them weren’t lying. “Well… I’m sure that we could help find you both a place in Ponyville with us…” Rarity offered. “Of course, it would require us to speak to the Mayor and find out how you both could help the town… but… Ponyville’s a quaint-enough town that at the very least you could get some work at Sweet Apple Acres or the Pie Rock Farm if you’re that determined to have something…”
“Thank you…” Lilith muttered, a small smile starting to form on her face.
“It’s my pleasure, I wouldn’t be able to call myself the Element of Generosity if I wasn’t willing to help out a friend in need.” Rarity replied.
“And the cost for these outfits…?” Cyrine asked.
Rarity smiled as she looked over to the hobgoblin. “The first ones are free… neither of you have a bit between you and you’ll need to at least look presentable if you’re going to have a place in Ponyville.”

Rarity nodded a little. “I see… I’ll have to keep that in mind for future orders from you then. Any preferred designs for either of you? I’m fairly good at making my own but I’d like to know a bit more of your personal tastes.”

“As long as the outfit itself has a two-headed aquila on it I’m fine…” Cyrine explained once Rarity finished the measurements.
“Well, I’ve never had the chance to work with waterproof materials before… to be honest it may be a tad difficult to acquire them, though it won’t stop me from trying.” Rarity agreed as she put the measurement tools away and turned to Cyrine. “If I may… what is an aquila?”
“An aquila is a symbol of an eagle, the two-headed one I use has two heads facing away from each other with its wings outstretched.” Cyrine explained. “It’s a symbol of a… of a life that was once important to me.”
Rarity nodded. “I can certainly add that… I’m guessing that’s what the mark on your chest is then?” Cyrine simply gave a silent nod. “Well, then that settles it! I’ll take these measurements to my drawing room and I’ll speak with Twilight, for tonight you two will be able to stay here since my sister is staying with my parents for the week and I have an extra guest bedroom.”
“Again, thank you. If only people where we came from were as nice as you then we would probably still be living our lives without a care in the world…” Lilith told Rarity with a sad smile before she walked over to Cyrine and clung to her arm. “Shall go get settled into the guest room then? or would you like to talk to the other ponies first?” She then asked Cyrine.
Rarity smiled a little. “Top of the stairs, third door on the left.” she instructed.
“Alright Lilith, let’s go.” Cyrine said as she began to walk towards the staircase.
“Ok.” Lilith replied, clinging to Cyrine as they left the room.
As soon as Lilith and Cyrine left Rarity jotted down their measurements and returned to the entryway where Twilight and Rainbow were waiting with a sleeping Spike.
“So, what happened?” Twilight asked as Rarity entered the entryway.
Rarity gave Twilight a small smile. “Exactly what we said would happen… I took their measurements so that I could get to work on outfits for the poor dears…” the marshmallow-white unicorn replied before she sat down in a nearby chair. “It’s just… aside from that dreary cave they have nowhere to stay and I… well… I offered them a place in Ponyville.”
“O-oh… Well… What can we do to help?” Twilight asked.
“Yeah, how can we help?” Rainbow asked as well.
“I told them that I’d have us ask around to see if there is anywhere they could stay once I’m done with their outfits and that we’d help them look for local openings, I’m sure that there’s something around here that could use the help.” Rarity replied.
“I think I can talk to the mayor on getting them their own house.” Twilight offered.
“And I can go see if I can find any job openings they could take.” Rainbow offered as well.
“Well… I’m not exactly sure that having their own house would be a good idea right now… they don’t exactly have the money for rent or that the bills or taxes that come with a house would cost you know.” Rarity said as she looked towards Twilight before turning to Rainbow Dash. “That would be most appreciated Rainbow, hopefully soon we’ll have some sort of arrangement that could be beneficial to all of us.” She finished with a smile.
“Well, I guess I forgot about that part… I will still look into it for future reference though.” Twilight said.
“Well, I guess I better get started then, later Rares!” Rainbow said before flying out the door.
Rarity nodded a little. “You should probably get Spike home to bed Twilight… Celestia knows he needs his rest after what that forest may have done.”
“I know Rarity.” Twilight said with a chuckle before she put spike on her back and left.
Rarity let out a small sigh as Twilight left, the small chime of the bell above the door signaling the end of the day and the last of the customers. With a small huff she got up and flipped the deadbolt on the door as well as the safety lock on the doorknob so that she could finally have the shop fully closed for the night before she went to her room and started a few outlines for the designs she was going to use.
”...where to get some waterproof clothing material though?” she wondered idly.
~In Lilith and Cyrine's room~
“So, what do you think you will do for a job when you get one?” Lilith asked.
“Honestly… I don’t know… Set up as I am, I’m more of a potential danger to this world than anything else. If not for the sanctioning that I remember going through then it would guarantee that this world would be doomed.” Cyrine sighed as she sat wearily on the bed. “I mean… if my concentration slips even once while manifesting my powers we could be dealing with a threat that would eagerly consume every life on this planet, regardless of being innocent or not.”
“...Well… I didn't expect that…” Lilith said with a worried expression. “So… what would you prefer to talk about?” She asked nervously.
“Preferably? Some way to make it so I don’t have to worry about accidentally causing an apocalypse.” The hobgoblin replied as she pulled her knees to her chest. “...I woke up knowing just how dangerous I have the potential to be around here… and now that I’m near innocent people…” She stopped as her breath caused her to choke on the last words in her sentence. “I’m a walking time bomb of disaster…” She whimpered.
Lilith walked over and sat next to Cyrine before pulling her into a hug. “I will see if I can find some way to help you…” She said as she tried to console her girlfriend.
Cyrine let out a small sniff and a short nod as she leaned into her lover’s embrace. “I don’t want to explode… and knowing the way The Warp works I’d probably explode twice and doom everyone.” she half-chuckled, half-sobbed.
“Yeah… Exploding twice is no fun…” Lilith said as she flinched from the thought. “But don't worry, I won't let you explode… Or at least, lethally~” She teased as she nommed the tip of Cyrene's ear.

“What was that!?” Lilith asked, now scared and not knowing what was going on. It was a few seconds before she noticed that Cyrine was laying unconscious on the bed with a bleeding nose.
There was a semi-frantic knock on the door before a shaky, yet still refined, voice called out. “Are you two alright in there?”
“Cyrine’s bleeding and I don't know what's going on! stuff is just exploding on its own!” Lilith cried in panic.
“Oh dear! C-can you please unlock the door?”
Lilith quickly scrambled over to the door and unlocked it before yanking it open. “What do I do!” She asked in panic as she dragged Rarity over to Cyrine, if she were still human she would have either fainted or had a heart attack from how much she was freaking out.
When she saw the state of the room Rarity nearly fainted, though she did get a little woozy before she pulled herself together. “I… I have a first aid kit in the bathroom, the mirror opens on the left and the room is two doors down on this side of the hall, if you could grab that it would be most appreciated. The box is decorated with a red cross sign.”
Lilith sped down the hall and grabbed the first aid kit and brought it back to Rarity. “What now? Do we call the hospital?” She frantically asked, not knowing how this world worked or how much danger Cyrine was in.
A green spark of what seemed like electricity bounced off of Cyrine and struck the marshmallow-colored mare in the chest, despite its small size the spark actually had enough force behind it to send Rarity off her hooves and land on her rump with a yelp of pain.

Lilith tried to get up and respond but the best she could do was crawl down the hall to the ‘foyer’ as she was in too much emotional turmoil to hold her form properly.
“Please be quick about it Lilith, we don’t need a crater where my house is…” Rarity prompted.
Lilith managed to reach the phone and dialed the emergency number and began hoping to some unknown being that someone would pick up soon.
The phone rang a couple times before a young, female voice picked up. “Ponyville Central Hospital… what sort of emergency are you having?”
“I need help! My girlfriend might be dying and the pony we’re staying with says she is having something called a ‘magical overload’… Please help!” Lilith cried.
The voice on the phone got a bit more tense. “We’ll have a team over right away.” She said quickly. “Where are you at?”
“We are staying with Rarity after she offered us somewhere to stay until we could get settled…” Lilith whimpered over the phone before she passed out.
There were several pops outside of the house before the door came off of its hinges and a large group of unicorns and earth ponies charged in, one of the unicorns looked over at her with confusion before his horn lit up and had him face towards the stairs. Without another word the group quickly made their way up the stairs, coming back down several minutes later with Cyrine across something that looked like a hovering gurney while the green sparks coming off her body were directed towards a silvery-blue stone.

The lights in the hospital hummed a little as the waiting room seemed to have an unusual amount of occupants for this late an hour. The two unicorns, both wearing their pajamas still, sat on either side of what looked to be a mare made entirely out of goo. The white mare who had an eye-covering pushed up on her forehead like a pair of sunglasses gently placed a hand on the goo-mare’s shoulder.
“I’m sure everything will be fine dear…” Rarity said in an attempt to calm her own nerves as much as Lilith’s.
“P-please let it be true… I d-don't want us to be separated again after j-just being reunited... I don't think m-my soul would be able to t-take it…” Lilith blubbered as she held her legs against her generous bust.
Twilight opened her mouth to speak just before the door to the patient area opened up to reveal a chocolate-colored unicorn stallion with a frown on his face.
“Is she ok!?” Lilith asked as she bolted over to the stallion, Sheer terror written all over her face.
He took a deep breath as he stepped away from Lilith. “I’m sorry Miss… We… the quicksilver is keeping her relatively stable right now by syphoning away whatever is powering her magic, but there’s just too unstable of a connection to her magic. We don’t have anyone here who could help more than keep her connected to the quicksilver.”
Lilith promptly collapsed. “She’s alive… She's alive… She's alive...” She quietly mumbled to herself as she shook on the floor while curling into a ball.
Rarity’s ears perked up a bit before she turned to her lavender companion. “Twilight… is there any chance that the Princess may have taught you how to stabilize an unstable magical connection?”
“I-I think so, I could at least try…” Twilight said, slightly uncertain.
“Well, then let’s get you in there.” Rarity said with a smile as she helped bring Twilight to her hooves.
The quick trip as the doctor escorted Twilight alone to the emergency room was filled with an ominous silence before she finally got into the room that was holding the hobgoblin. There was a gentle hum coming from the lump of silvery-blue metal that was hovering in a tray next to the bed, though the sheen on the metal was starting to dull. From her memories about Quicksilver a lump that big was supposed to at least stop and absorb several high-level spells before it began to dull.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as she made her way over to the table and began to channel magic into her horn, searching for Cyrine’s connection. She winced a bit when she saw the absolutely tangled mess that was emanating from the hobgoblin before she let her magic slowly weave through the tangles and begin to smooth out the connection.
The mess itself took quite a long time, even forcing Twilight to build up a sweat as she realized that moving too quickly could set off one of the less stable connections and leave quite the mess in the room. Like a practiced surgeon Twilight’s magic weaved through Cyrine’s connection to the warp, straightening it and making it more orderly. Once the last strand of the hobgoblin’s connection was in place though a loud snap resonated like a broken board before the connection itself was severed.
The lavender mare’s eyes shot open and widened as she checked to make sure Cyrine was still in one piece, though the lump of quicksilver was noticeably darker, before she let out a relieved sigh and collapsed to her knees. “Oh thank Celestia it worked…”
Twilight was ushered out of the room by several nurses before the hospital staff began moving Cyrine to a room where they could monitor her and let her rest, even with the jostling that happened during the transfer the hobgoblin didn’t wake up, though she didn’t look like she was in pain anymore so that was definitely a bonus.
“How is she?” Lilith frantically asked Twilight as she entered the recovery room.
Twilight smiled at the slime. “She’s going to be fine… I managed to stabilize her connection to whatever her source of magic is… but…” She bit her lip as she hesitated. “Once it was stabilized… the connection broke.”
“Thank goodness she’s ok…” Lilith whimpered as she walked over to the foot of the bed and laid down on Cyrene's legs.
Twilight placed a hand on Lilith’s shoulder. “... would you like to stay overnight? I can stay with you two just in case she wakes up.” She offered.
“I would appreciate that…” Lilith said, tears dripping from her eyes.
The unicorn gave a small nod before taking a seat nearby. Rarity gave a pleasant goodbye before she went back to her store so that she could start on their outfits. Twilight was hesitant about using magic around Cyrine while the hobgoblin was still unconscious. “So… uh… anything you… uh… want to talk about?” she tried.
“D-do you think you could help me find a way to help Cyrine keep her powers under control when they return?” Lilith asked as she clung to her unconscious lover.
“Well, now that she has a stable connection… it should be a bit easier to do that.” Twilight replied with a small smile.
“You already know how to stabilize her powers!?” Lilith asked in surprise.
“Well… yeah… her initial connection was a lot like a foal.” Twilight explained. “But she wasn’t doing anything to organize her magical flow so it had to be constantly drained or else it would get worse.”
“I’m not surprised, neither of us have used magic before…” Lilith said as a sad smile flashed across her face for a moment. “So how do we keep her from turning into a planet scale time bomb?” She then asked as she stood up to face Twilight.
“Well… we could teach her how to use her powers while straightening her connection on her own.” Twilight offered.
“Wouldn't weaving the strands of magic make them stronger than simply straightening them?” Lilith asked confused.
“It’s not quite how it works… with magic she would have to strengthen the connection without our help, since we wouldn’t be able to strengthen it for her, but a straightened connection helps the magic flow easier.” Twilight replied.
“What if the source of the magic is an alternate plane of existence made of thought and emotion?” Lilith asked, trying to remember what little she knew about warhammer.
“That’s the source of all magic, the intensity of your emotions do affect how well or poorly your spells perform.”
“I thought unicorn magic used their own magic not a connection to the warp…” Lilith thought out loud as she tried to wrap her mind around how this world and magic worked.
Twilight kept herself from letting out a laugh, covering her mouth a little. “I-I’m sorry… if unicorns actually relied on their own strength we wouldn’t be able to do nearly as much as we can, Earth ponies would be better spellcasters than us. Unicorns are powerful spellcasters because our horns help us have a focus for connecting to the source of all magic.”
“So Cyrine needs a horn?” Lilith asked confused.
“No…” Twilight sighed. “Unicorns are just better able to cast spells because we have them.” She took a deep breath. “Whatever Cyrine is… she has about the same-... had about the same connection as either a unicorn foal or an adult pegasus.”
“Well, she wasn't always a hobgoblin so I have no clue what to think about her current situation… Besides be worried that is…” Lilith sighed. She then slumped over a bit and sat on the foot of the bed. “I wish I was able to protect you… You're always protecting me and I can't do anything for you when you need it most…” She said to the unconscious hobgoblin as tears spilled down her face.
“That’s not true!” Twilight exclaimed. “At least you’re here instead of off somewhere else looking for someone to replace her, you’re staying by her side through this whole thing.”
Lilith gave Twilight a sad smile. “It still won't make up for my failures… I treat her as a crutch whenever I am around people and died on her once already... What could I possibly do to make myself worthy of her? She deserves better but I’m too clingy to let her go…” She said shaking with sorrow.
“Did you ask her whether she wanted to let you go?” Twilight replied almost reflexively.
“She’s practically addicted to my presence, she couldnt let me go if she wanted to…” Lilith laughed bitterly.
“Then wouldn’t that tell you how much she wants to be with you?” Twilight asked. “I mean… it sounds pretty apparent that she wants you around no matter what.”
“You have no idea how true that statement is… after all, she almost died of sadness alone when I died from protecting her during that terrorist attack…” Lilith sobbed.
Twilight let out a small breath. “Then trying to find a reason to stay shouldn’t be the problem… I’ve got Rainbow Dash looking into what job offerings are open around town and what might be able to be done for both of you. We’ll be able to figure something out.”
“Is there a blacksmith in town?” Lilith asked as she tried to get her emotions under control.
Twilight gave her a little nod before she let out a yawn. “Y-yeah…”
“I think I can work as a blacksmith… I used to do that as a hobby in my old life before coming here…” Lilith said.
“Are you sure your form would be able to take the heat of the forge?”
“I don't know but I’m not very good at much else…” Lilith admitted. Twilight gave a nod before making her way over to one of the empty beds in the room so that she could rest.
Reincarnated as a displaced monster
Three days went by before Cyrine let out a groan in her recovery bed. Her eyes blinked open for only a few seconds before she closed them tightly and let out another groan.
“Cyrine!” Lilith cried when she heard the groan that indicated her lover coming out of her comatose state before tackling the hobgoblin like a giant dog pouncing on a child. “You awake! I’m so glad! I almost started to think you would never wake up!” She cried as she snuggled her lover like a plushie.
Cyrine winced a bit. “E-easy Lilith… my everything still hurts a bit…” She groaned as she halfheartedly tried to hug her back.
“S-sory… I-I Just… I thought I was going to lose you...” Lilith blubbered as she eased up on her hug.
“I… I can certainly see why you’d think that.” Cyrine replied as she brought a hand to her head. “Ooh… I feel like I have a hangover…”
Lilith continued to hug Cyrine, she was so glad that she was finally awake that she forgot that she was currently naked and pressing her breasts into her lovers face. “I’m so glad you're awake…” She muttered to herself, as she somehow got hiccups.
“Lilith, calm down… the fact that I’m not dead right now means it’s going to be a lot harder to kill me.” Cyrine replied with a chuckle as she pushed her lover’s breasts away.
“B-but If it weren't for Twilight you would have!” Lilith cried as she clung to Cyrine as if her life depended on it.
“I… you know what Lilith… I could really use a calm night… just one where we get to do what we want without risking one of us dying…”
“But we’re monsters now… how are we supposed to do that?” Lilith asked, her ‘hair’ somehow looking disheveled and her eyes slightly puffy with streams of tears running down her cheeks.
“Simple… we don’t act like monsters, we act like we’re civilized.” Cyrine replied with a smile as her right hand began to smooth Lilith’s head over. “First thing’s first… we need jobs…” she sighed.
“I may have started on getting a job while you were asleep…” Lilith said with a slight blush.
“What job?” Cyrine asked.
“I may have mentioned to Twilight how I used to do blacksmithing as a hobby…” Lilith chuckled.
Cyrine seemed a little hesitant. “...are you sure you’re not going to evaporate?”
“I… Have no clue…” Lilith admitted with a sheepish grin.
Cyrine let out a small sigh. “Well… we’re going to need to make sure you won’t die if you take that job.”
“And find a way to get her to leave your side for five minutes…” Twilight said as she walked into the room after hearing the commotion.
“There’s always a way… but… right now I’d just like to rest… that near-death took a lot of energy out of me if you know what I mean.” Cyrine replied.
“Snuggle~” Lilith cooed as she snuck under the covers next to Cyrine.
The hobgoblin nodded as she let her hand pet the slime. “I’m always happy to snuggle…”
Lilith purred in response as she held Cyrine like a body pillow.
“W-well… I will just be… down the hall!” Twilight said before dashing off with a mad blush across her face.
“What’s her problem?” Cyrine asked. “You’re just hugging me…”
“I have no clue...” Lilith said as her breasts wrapped around Cyrine’s shoulder.
Cyrine gave her a look. “Using your breasts as tentacles now?”
“Huh?” Lilith said before looking down and blushing furiously. “Sory!” She squeaked before shifting so that her breasts weren't pressing against Cyrine.
Cyrine simply chuckled a little. “I’m just happy to be back in the waking world… I could really use a pistol though…” She sighed before she laid back on the bed.
As Cyrine laid down Lilith nuzzled in before the two of them fell happily asleep in one another's embrace.
~The next morning~
Cyrine yawned a bit as she sat up and began to stretch. “Good morning~” Lilith purred as she snuggled Cyrine from behind.
“Good morning to you as well Lilith.” Cyrine replied as she leaned into the hug. “I actually think I’m good to get up…”
“Ok, let me help you…” Lilith said before stepping off the bed and helping Cyrine stand.
It didn’t take too much effort for her to finally stand up, “Oh… much better, I hate being in hospitals.” Cyrine said with a smile as she began to walk around the room.
“Why don't we see if Rarity has any cloths for us?” Lilith chuckled nervously.
The door opened to reveal a white unicorn mare. “Hello gi- oh! Cyrine, you’re up already?” Rarity asked.
“Yeah, Lilith was giving me a helping hand, what’s with the bags?”
“They’re your new outfits.” Rarity said with a smile. “I was hoping to have you try them at my store, though seeing as you’ve been staying here the past several days I didn’t have much choice.”
“Heh, that's ironic because I was just talking about us coming to pick up some clothes.” Lilith chuckled.
Rarity smiled. “That’s good dears. Let’s get you changed then and see if you like the new outfits.” She beamed as she placed the bags on a nearby bed.
“Yeah… Going out in public naked would be too embarrassing to bear…” Lilith said with a slight blush.
“It’s not that bad.” Cyrine chuckled. “But it would be nice to get a new set of clothes on.”
“I vote that Cyrine goes first!” Lilith said with a mischievous grin. The hobgoblin simply shrugged and walked over to Rarity so that they could begin trying on the new outfits.
“The first thing obviously is the undergarments.” Rarity began as she pulled a couple bags off to the side. “Feel free to pick any that you like.”
Lilith and Cyrine look though the bag of undergarments for a bit until they decide on a few sets that are comfortable to the hobgoblin before she puts one of the sets on.
“Ok, now that we have handled Cyrenes need for undergarments let's see what else we have here…” Lilith said before opening the bag with the dresses in it.
Cyrine slipped on a pair of light-blue panties and a matching bra. “I think I like this set… what do you think Lilith?”
“I see you're going with the ones that match my color. And it looks cute on you~” Lilith purred. “And for that I might not try every single dress in this bag on you~” she then pulled out a frilly maid dress and began to slowly approach Cyrine.
“You say that like having me check that everything fits me is a bad thing.” Cyrine chuckled before she noticed the dress and frowned. “I know that’s not one of the ones that she should have made, you know how stupid I think those dresses are.”
Lilith’s grin grew until it looked like she was imitating the grinch as she got closer and closer to Cyrine. “I know. But I requested it for you anyway~” She purred as she crouched a bit.
“I’m not putting it on.” Cyrine said adamantly before she sat on one of the nearby waiting chairs. “It would get ruined before its first use.”
“Oh? Well I think…” Lilith said before pouncing on Cyrine. “That it makes you look cute~” She said as she got the maid outfit onto the hobgoblin.
“I mean it Lilith!” Cyrine yelped. “I will shred it myself if I have to!”
“I don’t think so~” Lilith purred as she reached under the dress and pinched Cyrine. Cyrine began pulling at the dress, off to the side Rarity began to look on nervously.
“Fine I’ll let you take it off… But you are wearing it next time you want me to get you off~” Lilith teased as she nipped Cyrine’s ear before taking the maid outfit off of the hobgoblin.
“We’ll see…” Cyrine replied with slight irritation about the dress.
Lilith chuckled before walking back over to the bag and putting the maid outfit away. “So which ones are the waterproof ones?” She then asked.
Rarity let out a silent sigh of relief. “Sadly the waterproof material only comes in black… so if it’s stretchy and black it’s an outfit for you.”
“Oh?” Lilith said before pulling out a long black dress that looked like a ball gown and would hug her curves. she quickly slipped the dress on before turning to Cyrine. “What do you think?” she asked as she put a hand on her hip and struck a pose.
Cyrine smiled a bit. “I like it, but… it’s definitely a more formal-wear type of outfit.”
“I'll be sure to save it for if we ever go to any parties.” Lilith said before putting the dress away and pulling out a tanktop and shorts and slipping them on. “These are nice, I may use these as my work cloths.” She said as she looked at herself wearing the new clothes in a mirror.
“The tanktop and shorts definitely look a lot better.” Cyrine said as she looked through the bags.
“What are you going to try on first?” Lilith asked.
“Hmm… not really seeing anything that catches my interest…” Cyrine mumbled. “Although the Aquila sigils look really nice…” She pulled out a green long-sleeved shirt that had an aquila emblazoned on its chest. “I like this one though.”
“So, the final question is, pants or skirt?” Lilith said as she moved around to get used to the feel of the material of her cloths on her new body.
“Pants, definitely.” Cyrine replied.
“And now that we have cloths, why don't we go out and explore the town?” Lilith asked.
Cyrine nodded. “Sounds good, I’d like to see where we’re going to be living for the foreseeable future.”
“Oh? looking for us a house already?” Lilith asked with a cheeky grin while wiggling her eyebrows.
“We don’t have to have a house to live here… I’m sure there’s a nice bridge we could live under.” Cyrine replied sarcastically.
“What are you, a troll?” Lilith laughed.
“Uh… What is this about trolls and bridges?” Rainbow asked as she walked into the room.
“Nothing, Lilith just wants to see if you’re up for a threesome later.” Cyrine replied as she slipped on a pair of dark blue pants.
“No! That is not true!” Lilith said as her face turned pink with embarrassment.
“See! You can tell by the blush.” Cyrine continued as she perused the bag for a pair of socks.
Lilith then decided to hide under the bed in hopes that Cyrine would stop teasing her.
“Um… Should I come back later?” Rainbow asked.
Cyrine began to chuckle. “Nope… how’s the search for openings?” She asked. “Any jobs around town that might take someone like either of us?”
“Well, I found that the local blacksmith is looking for an apprentice due to Twilight telling me to go ask. Then there's the town guard, adventurers guild, AJ’s farm, and a few other jobs open.” Rainbow said.
“This place really has an adventurer’s guild?” Cyrine asked in confusion. “...how well does it pay?”
“I don’t know, I didn't think to ask… well I have to get back to wether duty! Later!” Rainbow said before jumping out the window and flying off.
Cyrine let out a sigh. “Yeah… thanks for telling me where I could go to find those jobs in a town that I’ve never been in before…” She grumbled as the pegasus took off.
When Cyrine looked over to Rarity the white unicorn gave a small shrug. “I’m sorry dear… despite living here for most of my life there are still places here that I haven’t seen before. I’d be able to give you directions to Applejack’s farm… but that’s about it.”
“Can't we just ask for a map?” Lilith asked.
Rarity nodded. “If you head to Town Hall I’m fairly certain they have maps there.”
“To town hall then!” Lilith said before grabbing Cyrine by the hand and beginning to walk down the hall. She then paused before running back and grabbing the rest of their new cloths and thanking Rarity before sprinting back down the hall to where she left Cyrine.
As soon as they left the hospital they walked around town for a bit. The first thing they encountered was a neon pink mare who gasped upon seeing them before zipping away like a cartoon character. Shortly after that they ended up asking for directions from a yellow pegasus mare with a pink mane and eventually figured out where the town hall was before making their way over to it.
The town marketplace was actually fairly warm today as the pair of lovers made their way to the large building that rose over every other building in town. “...So you’re sure about the blacksmithing thing?” Cyrine asked.
“Well, I’m pretty good at it and I can't think of much else I can do in this world with its current technology level.” Lilith admitted.
“And what exactly is their technology level?” Cyrine prompted. “Am I going to be able to get a lasgun?”
“If they don't have one of those things I could probably try to make you one.” Lilith offered.
Cyrine took a small breath. “We’d have to find the Adeptus Mechanicus… tech heresy isn’t something I am eager to commit.”
“I may not know what tech heresy is but I could probably make you some weapons if you wanted eventually.” Lilith said while she stepped around a pony who was standing in line at one of the stalls.
“As long as they’re blessed and approved by a tech priest we’ll be good.”
“Tech what now?” Lilith asked.
“A tech priest, a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus that oversees the efficiency and placation of the machine spirits.” Cyrine explained.
“Sounds interesting… Hey, am I the only one to notice the stares were getting from some of the ponies?” Lilith asked as she noticed some of the ponies were watching them for some reason.
“Yes, yes you are… because they’re not important, and you like to focus on unimportant details.” Cyrine said with a smile as she put a hand on Lilith’s shoulder.
Lilith started to feel real uncomfortable from the stares and proceed to cling to Cyrine while trying to hide behind the hobgoblin unsuccessfully. “How much further to the town hall…” She whimpered.
“It’s the largest building in town, it’s not that hard to miss… we’re a street away.” the hobgoblin replied as she pointed out the building.
“Then let's hurry away from the glares of these ponies!” Lilith said before grabbing Cyrine’s arm and dashing up to the town hall.
“What has you so worried Lilith?” Cyrine yelped as they entered the building. “Seriously?”
“The stares we were getting were the kind I used to get whenever I passed through the night club sector on the way to work back in los angeles… and I think I saw one of them holding a pitchfork for some reason…” Lilith explained as she closed the door.
Cyrine sighed a little. “Lilith… you really need to relax.”
“I’ll relax when ponies stop staring at me like that!” Lilith said. Cyrine simply made her way over to the front desk to speak with the pony behind the desk.
“How may I help you.” The pony said.
“We need a pair of maps for the area, for one of them directions to the adventurer’s guild would be appreciated.” Cyrine replied.
The pony behind the desk looked up from his newspaper to shuffle through a few folders before handing two maps to Cyrine without looking at her before returning to his newspaper. “The locations are labeled on the map, you can find the adventurers guild on your own from there.” The pony said.
Cyrine sighed a little before passing one of the maps to Lilith. “Here you go.”
“Thank you, now where to go first?” Lilith said as she accepted the map from Cyrine.
“Well, I’m heading to the adventurer’s guild… I want to see what that’s all about.” The hobgoblin replied as they leave the town hall.
“Ok, I guess I will see you later then…” Lilith says before she walks off.
~With Cyrine~
Cyrine had her eyes in the map she had been given at the mayor’s office. Despite not being able to see much else she managed to weave through the crowds and around groups of ponies without much difficulty. Although some gave her strange glances and some seemed like they were about to attack her until she reached the adventurers guild. Cyrine spared a glare towards one of the groups before she opened the door to the adventurer’s guild.
Once inside she looked around for someone who looked like they were in charge.
“Hello there little girl, how may I help you?” A minotaur at a clerk desk said to Cyrine.
“Little girl?” Cyrine asked in slight confusion. “I’m here to find out what sorts of jobs are available.”
“Oh? Do you want to become an adventurer?” The minotaur asks.
“Isn’t that the typical reason why someone comes here to find out the jobs available?” Cyrine asked with a laugh.
“Well, we also get people that come to drop off requests and sometimes people wander in here thinking that this is the town guard office.” The minotaur explained.
“Well, either way, I’m here looking to find out how lucrative a job this is.” Cyrine explained.
“Well, It all depends on your rank and the jobs you accept. The different jobs are posted on a wall in the adventurers lounge if you want to see them.” The minotaur said.
“Okay, and say that I’m not officially a member of this guild… how do I get signed up?”
“You just have to ask me to apply for bronze rank and I will ask you for some information to make you your adventurer id and then you're an adventurer. If you have any questions you can talk to the guild master.” The minotaur said as he pulled out a sheet of paper.
Cyrine nodded a little. “Ask away then.”
“Ok. I will need your name, age, species, and class.” The minotaur said.
The hobgoblin nodded. “My name is Cyrine, I’m twenty two… I’m a hobgoblin and a Psyker.” She answered, deciding to use the age she had before coming to Equestria.
“Oh? A hobgoblin? thats a first.” The minotaur chuckled as he filled out the piece of paper. “Please sign at the bottom.” He said passing the piece of paper to Cyrine. She took up a pen and signed her name on the paper. When Cyrine finished the minotaur took up the piece of paper and put it into a drawer under his desk before handing her a card with her information and a necklace with a bronze plate on it.
“That necklace indicates your rank and status as an Adventurer and the card is for identification in case you are stopped by a guard or someone doubts your status as a adventurer.” The minotaur said before motioning for the hobgoblin to go through the door next to his desk that you could hear a lot of commotion going on behind it.
“Makes sense… thanks.” Cyrine replied as she made her way through the door.
As Cyrine went through the door all the adventurers in the room went silent and looked in her direction.
“What?” She asked incredulously. “Just because you haven’t seen a woman this beautiful before doesn’t mean you have to stop your conversations.”
The adventurers burst into laughter at her comment, some yelling “I like this kid!” And other compliments for her spunky attitude. She smirked a bit before making her way over to wherever the jobs were posted, trying to find something that would work for her.
When she found the board she almost fell over backwards at the size of the board and the amount of requests, she kept her calm though as she adopted a bored look while she perused the jobs. One of the jobs that she saw though caught her eye as an easy way to get started, it was a simple request but it paid pretty well. The job offered 1000 bits and all she had to do was help run security for a wedding of all things. With a fluid swipe of her hand she took the ad for the wedding security detail and made her way out front.
~With Lilith~
Lilith read the map and ran to the blacksmith shop while dodging around ponies and stalls until she reached her destination and went inside. “Hello anyone home?” She asked.
“In the back!” Called a gruff male voice.
Lilith hesitated for a moment out of nervousness but eventually made her way to the back of the back of the shop and entered the forge where she found a buff kyrin forging a sword.
“H-hello, My name is Lilith and I came to apply for the apprenticeship that Rainbow asked about?” Lilith said to the kyrin.
“Well hello Lilith, my name is Phestus. Nice to meet you.” The kyrin said turning around to shake Lilith's hand.
Lilith took the kyrins hand and shaked it. “Nice to meet you Phestus. Do you mind the fact that I’m a slime?” She asked nervously.
“No, not really… I have never met a slime before but you're nicer than the ones I hear about roaming the wilds.” Phestus chuckled. “But are you sure you want to take the apprenticeship? What if you evaporate?” He asked.
“You sound like my girlfriend…” Lilith groaned, causing Phestus to stare at her in shock.
“Well, this should be interesting.” Phestus said to himself with a smile. he then began to give Lilith a rundown of the forge and had her sign some papers to officialize her apprenticeship. shortly after he told her that they would begin work tomorrow and to go home for the day so that he could finish up what he was working on before closing for the day.
As Cyrine arrived back at Rarity’s boutique with her ticket for her and a plus one to the wedding Lilith came running over with a grin on her face. Cyrine let out a small chuckle. “What’s got you all smiling like that?”
“I got the Job! and the Blacksmith I’m working for is a kyrin!” Lilith gushed as she glomped Cyrine.
“...A what?” Cyrine asked as she managed to keep standing.
“A half pony half dragon. And he reminds me of you a bit.” Lilith laughed.
“How does a half-dragon remind you of me?” The hobgoblin asked as she opened the door to Rarity’s store.
“The first thing he asked was ‘Are you sure you're not going to evaporate?’ When he saw that I was a slime!” Lilith said before falling on the ground in a fit of laughter inside the boutique.
“You do seem to be made mostly of water, so it’s a pretty valid concern that you’re not just going to turn into a fine mist when you’re near a flame that can reach several thousand degrees.” Cyrine explained as she closed the door. “I don’t want you to just disappear on me because you evaporated.”
“I’m not going to just evaporate.” Lilith said rolling her eyes at Cyrine. “I would start to dehydrate first before that would happen, and I would seek you out from hunger if I dehydrated according to what I know about slimes.” she added as she got up and licked the hobgoblins cheek.
“Why would you seek me out?” Cyrine asked as she took a seat in one of the lounge chairs.
“Because your sweat is tasty~” Lilith purred as she sat down in a chair next to Cyrine before laying down in her lover's lap.
Cyrine raised an eyebrow. “...you developed some strange fetishes when we moved here…” She muttered as she let her fingers poke at her lover’s belly.
“I’m a slime, we eat magic and certain fluids secreted by other species.” Lilith purred as she snuggled into Cyrine’s lap.
“It’s still a bit odd.” Cyrine chuckled before she began to lean back. “I did manage to get signed up for the adventurer’s guild though.” She said with a smile. “I’m going to be working as part of a security team for a wedding.”
“WHAT!? Can I come with?” Lilith said in surprise before giving Cyrine puppy dog eyes.
“The invitation does say I can bring someone with me.” Cyrine replied.
The door to the store opened once more to reveal Rarity in a light-yellow sundress. “Oh… Twilight certainly wasn’t happy about that letter…” She sighed before letting herself collapse onto her personal fainting couch.
“Is something wrong?”Lilith asked Rarity.
“Oh it’s absolutely dreadful!” Rarity sighed dramatically as she eased herself into a more comfortable position. “Twilight received a letter from the princess…!”
“Wait… PRINCESS!?” Lilith practically shouted in surprise. “THERE’S A PRINCESS OF YOUR CUDDLY SPECIES!?”
“Of course darling.” Rarity replied, “That’s not the point though… Twilight received a letter inviting her to a royal wedding.”
Lilith fell out of Cyrine’s lap and face planted on the floor, hard. “TWILIGHT'S GOING TO A ROYAL WEDDING! WHAT IS SHE? A NOBLE!?” She shouted as she peeled herself off of the floor.
“She is from one of the unicorn families of Canterlot… and the wedding is for her brother and a mare with a surprisingly fancy name.” Rarity replied as she propped herself up on one elbow. “Though… she was a bit more miffed that she didn’t receive any notice from her brother beforehand.”
Lilith fell to the floor again before fainting as Cyrine let out a small snore. Rarity let out a small huff as she noticed the hobgoblin’s snore. “At least one of you knows how to react to that kind of news…” She grumbled.
For her part, Cyrine was still having a good, no… decent dream, having tuned out the entire conversation after Rarity’s dramatic sigh. unfortunately she was snapped awake by Lilith smacking into the floor for the second time in a row. “Who! Wait what?!” The hobgoblin stammered in a daze as she woke up. “Come on Lilith… I just got to sleep…”
“Royal wedding~” Lilith moaned as she layed on the floor, still unconscious.
“So? Politics are boring anyway…” Cyrine grumbled as she tried to readjust herself on the chair.
Lilith decided to wake up at that moment and give Cyrine an incredulous look. “You are running security for a wedding… and there's a royal wedding going on… can you connect the dots?” She asked the hobgoblin.
“So… I don’t see what’s so special about it? It’s just a bunch of stiff collars getting together to preen their feathers in front of everyone and brag about how special they are.” Cyrine replied. “I’m just the muscle, I don’t need to bother with the politics behind it.”
Lilith just stared at Cyrine, eye twitching. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN!? IT’S A WEDDING BETWEEN TWILIGHT’S BROTHER AND ROYALTY!” She shouted while shaking Cyrine.
“Lilith!” Cyrine growled as she broke the grip. “I’m a guard… not technically an attendee… I’m there to help keep the two of them from dying, so it doesn’t help me in my life who the wedding is for.”
Lilith pouted at Cyrine but didn't push the subject. “So when's the wedding?” She asked Rarity.
“It’s about three days from now, so I’ll be working almost twenty-four-seven to make sure everyone has their wedding outfits.” Rarity replied.
“Wow, that's really short notice!” Lilith gasped.
“Oh I know darling… It’ll force me to put my other orders on hold for a while but it will be so worth it.” The white mare replied with a smile. “The major question is what you two will be wearing…”
“I’ll be wearing armor… I am a bodyguard after all.” Cyrine said from her seat.
Rarity rolled her eyes a little. “What about you Lilith?”
“I might wear that dress you made me, Although I don't think it's very proper for a wedding... And should something happen I rather not be restrained by my own dress from helping out…” Lilith said, tapping her chin.
“Exactly, let’s get to some designing!” Rarity squealed.
“Ok, and I have a few ideas for combat dresses so that we can get Cyrine in one!” Lilith giggled.
“B-but… then the dress would get ruined by all that deplorable fighting…” Rarity whimpered as she nearly fainted on her couch.
“Not if we make them right! If made right the dresses could make the fighting look like a elegant dance~” Lilith purred as she looked at Cyrine. “After all, Cyrine once took ballet~”
“Emphasis on once .” Cyrine replied.
“Doesn’t change the fact you look cute when you dance~” Lilith sang while bouncing into the other room.
“Besides, dancing while you’re fighting is realistically proven only to work in fencing, other weapons will take advantage of the distraction.” Cyrine continued.
“Doesn't mean your fighting style doesn't look like dancing…” Lilith called from the other room.
“It doesn’t…” Cyrine replied. “It’s quick and efficient, dancing while fighting wastes extra energy.”
Rarity chuckled a little. “I’m sure she’ll have a set of armor she can use that’s good enough… right?” she said as her eye twitched a little. “Since anything dangerous that could happen would be something she’d need some sort of protection for.”
“She doesn't have any armor at the moment!” Lilith called from the other room as the sound of a sewing machine started to come from the doorway. “But I’m going to get her sword in the morning!”
Reincarnated as a displaced monster
Cyrine sighed a little as she sat back in her seat, the sword that she had been given was back in the cargo section of the train. “Why do trains move so fast and feel so slow…?” She muttered as she looked out the window.
“Does that really matter?” Lilith whined as she tried to snuggle Cyrine.
“No… I just like asking questions that sound philosophical yet are rhetorical.” Cyrine pouted. “You know… it’s a bit strange how I didn’t see any of Twilight or her friends when we got on the train… were we just early?”
“Actually, I think they are in one of the other cars since the train is already halfway to this ‘Canterlot’. Heh, pony pun on camelot…” Lilith said with a chuckle. “Shall we go find them?”
Cyrine shrugged a little. “Sure, nothing better to do.” She said before leaving with Lilith to search the other cars for the ponies.
“There you are! We almost thought that we ended up on separate trains!” Lilith said as she entered the train car that Twilight and her friends were in with Cyrine. The hobgoblin in question let out a small yawn as she filed in behind the slime.
“Oh! Lilith, Darling we almost thought that you two had missed the train.” Rarity called out.
“For some reason we were told to sit in the back car... So who are these three?” Lilith asked looking at an orange earth pony, a yellow pegasus they asked for directions from yesterday, and the pink mare they tried to talk to yesterday before she ran off.
“Yes, yes…” Rarity said with a smile as she extended a hand towards her friends. “This is Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie pie…” She introduces the orange earth pony, yellow pegasus and pink earth pony respectively.
“Howdy.” Applejack greeted with a smile before she elbowed the yellow pegasus in the side, only managing to elicit a mumble of greeting from her.
“Hello Applejack.” Lilith said before looking at fluttershy and getting a glint in her eye.
“Easy Lilith.” Cyrine said as she elbowed the slime. “We don’t need to add more people to our relationship.”
Lilith blushed and sent a glare at Cyrine before turning back to the ponies. “Nice to meet you fluttershy…” Lilith said shakily, trying to resist the urge to hug the shy pegasus.
“Hi I’m Pinkie!” Pinkie said with a huge grin.
“Hello Pinkie.” Lilith replied
“Hello Pinkie, so… what do each of you do around town?” Cyrine asked.
“I work at sugarcube corner!” Pikie said.
Applejack smiled as she leaned back in her seat, “I work at Sweet Apple Acres, I’d nearly run the place ma’self if it weren’t fer the fact that Granny’s still in good shape to help out every so often.” She explained with a very western twang to her voice. When her attention turned to the yellow pegasus though she let out a small sigh. “Flutters here runs the local animal shelter… it’s her natural talent ta be so good with animals.”
“That just makes her even cuter!” Lilith gushed.
Cyrine let out a small chuckle. “Perhaps she has a kitten you could adopt.”
The pegasus’ ears perked a bit before a smile grew on her face. “You want to adopt a kitten!” She squealed happily. “I have so many animals and kitties to chose from! We’ll make a date for you two to stop by when the wedding is over.”
“Yes!” Lilith squealed, bouncing like she had eaten a ton of sugar.
Cyrine shrugged a little. “She’s more the pet person of our pair…”
“You know you like animals~” Lilith purred as she clung to Cyrine.
“I do, I’m just not as crazy about them as you are.” Cyrine replied as she pet Lilith’s head.
Lilith purred some more before she pulled Cyrine into a seat and proceeded to curl up in the hobgoblins lap like a cat. “Snuggle~” She mumbled before falling asleep.
Rainbow Dash began to chuckle a bit as she watched the two of them, though she stopped as she saw AJ’s look. “Jus’ leave ‘em be Dash.” the farm mare said.
“What!? I wasn't doing anything!” Rainbow said defensively.
“Yer laughin’ at ‘em.” Applejack explained.
“It’s alright, we’re used to way worse.” Cyrine placated.
“Like what?” Twilight asked out of curiosity, pulling out a notepad and quill with her magic.
Cyrine gave Twilight a serious look. “Trust me… you don’t want to know.” She replied as she leaned back a bit in her seat. “But enough about us… we haven’t really gotten to know each other well enough to call ourselves friends.” the hobgoblin explained with a smirk.
“Sorry…” Twilight said, realizing she just touched a nerve.
“We will be arriving in canterlot train station shortly!” The conductor called over the intercom.
“I wonder where I’d be able to get a gun…” Cyrine muttered as she looked out the window. “Considering this place though… the best I could probably hope for is a crossbow…” she sighed.
“Are we there yet?” Lilith asked as she began to wake up.
“Almost… a couple more minutes at max before we’re let off the train.” Cyrine replied.
“Whats up with the shield and all the guards?” Rainbow asked as she looked out the window at canterlot.
“You have about as much of an idea as I do.” Cyrine said as she got up and began to stretch. “I was just hired as a sellsword for the place so I don’t know much more about what’s going on with this magical mumbo jumbo than you do.”
Rarity rolled her eyes a little. “I'm sure they're just taking the necessary precautions. Royal weddings do bring out the strangest ponies.” she assured the group as the train passed through the pink shield.
Cyrine let out a small sigh. “I can understand the whole ‘pink’ theme for the train… this world is weird like that… but a pink barrier around the castle? Would it really kill you ponies to install something that isn’t pink?”
“Hey, we can't control the color of our magic!” Twilight defended.
“Ninety percent of everything in this world seems to be colored pink.” Cyrine explained. “Buildings, magic, all of it!” She pouted.
“Well, I’m not pink.” Lilith said in an attempt to cheer Cyrine up.
“And thank the emperor for that.” The hobgoblin replied as she began to make her way towards the back of the train. “I’m going to grab the sword you borrowed.”
“Ok! see you in a bit!” Lilith called after Cyrine before turning to the ponies. “So… What do we do first when we get into town?”
Rarity brushed her mane aside as she looked over to Lilith, “I for one am going to be heading straight to the castle, I am the seamstress in charge of making sure all of the outfits for the wedding are perfect!” She squealed in delight as her mind began to drift off into a countless number of designs.
“I’m going to be practicing my stunts so that I am ready to do a sonic rainboom after the vows!” Rainbow shouted as she flew in circles around the car.
“I’m the ca-... uh… cater-...” Applejack stumbled as she tried to get the word she wanted.
“The caterer?” Fluttershy offered quietly.
“Yeah! That, I’m the mare that’ll oversee makin’ sure all the food is good.” The orange earth pony exclaimed.
“And I’m sure you’ll be wonderful at it darling, is Pinkie going to be helping you with the food?” Rarity asked.
“Nope! I’m going to be super duper busy planning the party!” Pinkie exclaimed as she pulled out an impossibly long list from her mane.
Applejack laughed a little. “An’ we know that yer great at plannin’ parties.” She said.
“What are you going to be doing fluttershy?” Lilith asked.
The butter-colored pegasus shifted a little. “Well… I… uh… I don’t have much of a plan for the wedding, I mean… I would be helping some of the animals with their singing for the wedding… but… um… nothing much.”
Lilith chuckled at the pegasus’s modesty a bit. “You’re so cute!” She said as she watched Fluttershy shift around a bit. “So anyone know what grumpy pants is going to be doing?” she asked as soon as she got herself back under control.
“I’m going to go talk to my brother…” Twilight said with a bit of an edge to her voice.
“I think I’ll just hang out with Cyrine…” Lilith said, not wanting to disturb anyone's plans or get in the way of grumpy Twilight.
Rarity nodded a little as she passed a wary look towards the miffed unicorn. “Likely a good idea dear.”
“The train is now pulling into canterlot station!” The conductor called as the train started to stop.
Cyrine stretched as she walked back into view with her much more uniform-colored outfit on. “It feels nice to have a sword at my hip… like I was missing a friend.” She sighed happily as she pet the blade’s sheath.
Lilith's eye twitched as Cyrine pet the sword sheath. “Why am I feeling jealous of that sword?” She asked no one in particular.
The train then finished pulling into the station and everyone got off. the mares going off to do their business, while Lilith and Cyrine walked over to the castle to report in for the quest.
“Halt! Identify yourself!” One of the castle guards said.
Cyrine held up her badge and invitation. “Bodyguard and guest for the wedding.” She explained as she indicated the pair.
“You do realize your guest is a… Slime, right?” The guard’s partner asked with a slight sneer.
“Hey! I take insult to that!” Lilith shouted, silencing the guard and leaving him with a dumbstruck expression.
Cyrine gave the guard a look. “Trust me, she’ll probably run circles around your logic.” she advised as she walked past him.
“Good day.” Lilith harrumphed, before walking after Cyrine with her nose pointed to the sky.
“What the buck just happened?” The guard said to himself as Lilith and Cyrine disappeared into the castle grounds.
Cyrine chuckled a little as she poked her lover. “You’re adorable when you’re mad.”
Lilith just grumbled as she made a pouty face and snuggled into Cyrine’s arm. “Lets just go find out what we're supposed to do…” She mumbled as they walked down the hall. The hobgoblin nodded a little and continued walking. After walking for a bit tough they realized that they were lost, so they decided to ask a passing by maid for directions.
With the directions now in hand they made their way quickly to the balcony where Twilight had just begun a rant against the captain of the guard… who also happened to be the husband to be. Cyrine looked over to Lilith, “You know what…? I say we give them a couple minutes.”
“You sure? It looks like Twi’s going to punch him though…” Lilith said, slightly worried. But that's when a pink pony with wings and a horn walked onto the balcony. “I think it would be a good idea to go up there now, otherwise we might miss him.” She then stated as the pink pony linked arms with the captain of the guard.
Cyrine nodded a little. “Alright…” the hobgoblin replied as she makes her way to the balcony, Lilith following shortly behind.
The marble-colored unicorn stallion looked towards the pair as his eyes immediately draw attention to the blade at Cyrine’s hip and his hand shifts to the sword at his own. “Who are you?” He asked.
“Oh, that's my friend Cyrine.” Twilight said, Introducing Cyrine to her brother. “Cyrine, this is my brother Shining Armor. Captain of the royal guard.”
Cyrine nodded. “I’m the person who accepted the Adventurer’s Guild contract…”
The guard gave her a slightly confused look. “I… I was expecting something a bit more… well… more.”
The hobgoblin chuckled. “That’s kind of what I’m going for, I’ve been trained very well in resisting mind control and magical effects in general. I might not be the best warrior, but I’m a very loyal one.”
“I didn't know you had combat and anti magic training.” Twilight said, slightly surprised.
“It’s required of all potential psykers from where I used to live… if you are not resistant to such power and have a strong will, you are more of a danger to your allies than your enemies.” Cyrine replied with a frown. “I’ve lost many friends because of a witch who thought they had control of their power…”
“Oh my…” Twilight said, completely stunned.
Cyrine nodded. “That’s why Lilith was so worried about me when I went under a week ago… few psykers who did that managed to survive with their heads intact.”
“Well… that certainly sounds like you’ve had your fair share of combat experience then…” Shining replied with a slight cough.
“No kidding, where I’m from… the world was constantly at war with an alien race called the Eldar, they specialized in being dicks.” The hobgoblin explained. “Here though… I’m not even sure I can find a proper lasgun to use.”
“Is your friend all there Twilight?” The pink pony said, giving Cyrine a slight glare.
Cyrine smiled. “I’m one of the lucky ones who managed to have something significant happen before I developed really severe mental instability. So… relatively speaking, I’m one of the safest beings from the world I’m from.”
“OK, first you tell me you’re a hobgoblin, now you tell me you're an ALIEN!?” Twilight asked, on the verge of having an ‘episode’.
“Technically… I was once a human… then I died and was reincarnated here instead of joining the Emperor in eternal, glorious battle.” Cyrine explained. “And aside from the pointy ears and prominent canines… I actually look a lot like I did when I was a human.”
The pink pony was now looking at Cyrine as if she had gone crazy and twilight had fainted from a psychological overload.
“I know… it can sound a bit weird… but I really do feel much more alive now than I have in years. I also don’t hear whispers in the shadows anymore so that’s another plus.” Cyrine explained with a smile before she looked over to Shining. “Though… it would be amazing if your guards could hook me up with some armor, I don’t mind it coming out of the reward pay.”
Shining pursed his lips as he looked her over. “I’ll get a message sent down, you’ll be given a message when the armorer of the castle is ready to get you fitted.” He looked over to Lilith. “You both can take a guest room… they’re just down the hall here.”
“Thank you, your much nicer than the guards at the gate.” Lilith said with a smile.
“D-did… That slime just… Talk!?” The pink pony said in shock.
“Well thats rude!” Lilith said as she shot a glare at the pink pony and crossed her arms.
Cyrine rolled her eyes. “When dealing with me, assume that logic doesn’t really flow well around me.”
“Come on Cyrine, I don't want to hang around the rude pink pony.” Lilith huffed as she grabbed the Hobgoblins arm and started to walk away.
“Well that’s too bad Lilith… since she’s the bride to be.” Cyrine replied as she was dragged along.
“Then I will stay for the sake of the groom and ignore the bride!” Lilith said as they turned down the hall to where the guest rooms are.
Cyrine turned back to the pair and mouthed an apology just before they walked out of view. “I think you should stop being so sensitive about other people's surprise. In this world slimes aren’t intelligent… I mean… how would you have reacted on earth if suddenly a cat started talking to you? Or a cricket?”
“I know, I know… But it doesn't make it hurt any less.” Lilith pouted as they came up to one of the guest rooms that wasn't yet occupied. She then opened the door and dragged Cyrine inside before closing and locking it. She then gave the hobgoblin a worried look. “Also, were not the only non ponies here.” She said while shifting uncomfortably.
“So you sensed it too?” Cyrine asked.
“More like saw…” Lilith shuddered. “I sometimes wonder if having to see is a good thing...” She added as she slowly stepped away from the door and clung to Cyrine's arm nervously.
“It never is… you see things that a mortal mind was never meant to comprehend… but I’m definitely going to need a gun.” Cyrine replied as she moved to sit on the bed.
“Have you ever had to see using magic? You end up seeing more than you would with simply color provided by light…” Lilith whimpered as she collapsed into Cyrine’s lap. She then curled up on the bed and clung to the hobgoblins pants.
Cyrine idly pet the slime’s head. “I’m sorry…”
“I’m never letting you go… You're all I have left… and the only thing keeping me sane...” Lilith said as she snuggled into her lover.
“I can’t guarantee how long I’ll be here if I don’t get something more protective than just a pair of pants and a shirt.” Cyrine replied.
“Do we HAVE to talk about armor right now?” Lilith pouted.
“Yes… unless you’d like me to lose a limb in battle… or worse.” Cyrine stated firmly
“I wouldn't want that to happen…” Lilith replied. “But unless you're asking me to make you some custom armor when we get back to ponyville, I would prefer to talk about something else…” She added with a slight pout.
“You shure this is the room where the adventurer is staying?” Said a voice on the other side of the door to Cyrine and Lilith’s room.
“I’m certain I saw it go in there, you think it's asleep yet?” Said another voice.
“Lets hope so, it will be easier to swap places with it that way.” Replied the previous voice.
Cyrine’s pointed ears twitched a little as her hand reached for her sword. “Lilith…” She whispered. “Get ready for a fight.” a quiet hiss was made by her sword as it finally slid out of its sheath.
“Way ahead of you!” Lilith whispered as she snuck up a wall before clinging to the ceiling so that she wouldn't be seen.
Cyrine drew her sword and slipped into place next to the door as she brought her blade up into a ready position. The door then began to slowly open before a pair of guards walked in, they didn't see cyrine because the door opened so that she was behind it.
“Ok, you check the bed while I make sure no one comes in.” One of the guards said, causing his partner to wander over towards the bed, then he turned around and shut the door… before seeing Cyrine.
The hobgoblin lunged forward with a punch to try and knock out the stallion that had just walked in. “No swapping asshole.” she taunted.
The guard hissed in pain before lunging at Cyrine, trying to subdue her before alerting his companion. Cyrine responded with a swing of her sword to counter the attack, effectively slicing a large gouge into the guard's chest and rendering him unconscious from the pain.
“Bad anthro bug things!” Lilith shouted as she tackled the guard that was standing by the bed to the ground, causing him to hit his head so hard he lost consciousness immediately.
Moments later a green flame spread across the two guards before it vanished to reveal strange bug like abominations that faintly resembled one of the ponies but not enough to notice.
“Hurk! There even more disgusting without their disguise magic!” Lilith said before she ran over to a trashcan and started to vomit, somehow.
Cyrine scowled as she brought her sword down to impale the creature that she had struck. “Die you filthy xenos bastard. Lilith, finish off the other one so that we can take them to Celestia.”
“I don't have a way to kill it so I’ll capture it for interrogation…” Lilith said shakily before she managed to wander over to the creature she rendered unconscious and used her ‘Predator’ ability to try and store the creature away for celestia to deal with.
New ability ‘transformation’ gained.
Lilith blinked a few times before cringing as she made her way over to Cyrine. “Will just one do? I may have absorbed mine…” She said, looking like she wanted to be sick.
“That’s fine… we just need to have enough to prove what happened to us.” Cyrine replied as she lifted up the one she had stabbed to death. “I want you to find a guard that you can tell is a pony and have him or her escort us to the throne room.”
“O-ok…” Lilith said, trying to forget that she just absorbed one of the disgusting bug abominations. She then walked into the hall with Cyrine before she noticed a guard that was a pony and asked him to help.
When the guard saw the bug like creature over Cyrines shoulder he nearly threw up, but he managed to compose himself before leading the hobgoblin and slime to the throne room. Luckily they didn't encounter any of disguised bug things before they came to a pair of large golden double doors that they assumed were the entrance to the throne room.
“Wait here for me to call you.” The guard said before going through the pair of large golden doors. a short while later he peeked back out and motioned for the pair to enter.
Cyrine nodded a little and used her foot to push the door open and hopefully gather the attention of the people in the room. She looked towards the surprised royals in the room and hefted the creature onto the ground in front of her. “I believe I found the creatures that are the source of the lockdown.”
“What the buck is that!? and what the buck are you!” a white unicorn with blond hair screamed.
“This… is a creature that had been disguised as one of the royal guard… so I can only assume that there are more.” Cyrine replied, ignoring the second part of the unicorns statement.
The larger mare in the room pursed her lips. “This does create quite a problem… we’ll have to set up checkpoints in the castle itself to help root out the invaders.”
“Be glad you can't see through their disguises…” Lilith said while cringing, causing the ponies in the room to notice her.
“WHAT IS THAT DOING HERE!? WHO LET A DISGUSTING SLIME IN!?” The blond unicorn screamed while preparing to blast Lilith with his magic.
Cyrine brought her sword up towards the unicorn. “He’s attacking a guest! He must be one of the invaders!” Celestia’s jaw dropped just a hair at the exclamation as her eyes shifted towards the unicorn.
“I am prince Blueblood, not one of you monsters!” The blond unicorn screamed as he changed his target to Cyrine before firing at the ground in front of her feet.
“I’m not disgusting! Nor am I a monster you dumb prince!” Lilith shouted as tears ran down her face, barely resisting the urge to beat the shit out of Blueblood.
“Enough!” Celestia said at a slightly louder volume than her normal tone, which seemed to have been strong enough to force all the guards to wince and all the motion in the room to completely stop. “Cyrine… Lilith… please return to the chambers that were provided for you, I shall have an investigation conducted into the accusations of infiltration.” She turned to the unicorn. “Prince Blueblood… please return to your chambers as well.”
“But auntie!” Blueblood whined.
“No buts Blueblood, I will send a guard when the situation is completely sorted out. You know the passphrase.” Celestia replied.
“Fine…” Blueblood whined as he trudged off to his room, but not before giving Lilith and Cyrine one last glare.
“I don't like him.” Lilith stated flatly as she pouted.
“I don’t either…” Cyrine whispered. “I was kind of hoping that calling ‘spy’ would get him impaled on a ton of spears.”
“I guess we will see you at the wedding tomorrow then.” Lilith said to Celestia as she grabbed Cyrine and started heading back to their room. The hobgoblin had a contemplative look on her face as she continued to observe the halls around her on her way back to the room.
“I don’t trust the guards here anymore.” Cyrine stated as she glared down one of the hallways.
“At least you can be sure that Shining armor hasn't been replaced so you can calm down during the wedding.” Lilith said as she opened the door to their room for the second time that day.
“Let's just hope so…” Cyrine sighed as she sat down on the bed.
Reincarnated as a displaced monster
It started out as an average day for Ruby and Lilith. But today they were going out to dinner for the third anniversary of when they first started dating at a local restaurant. The evening itself was crisp and cool, letting the autumn atmosphere swirl and embrace any passers-by as the pair of young lovers made their way to the restaurant. One of the two seemed to almost bounce on her heels as she walked eagerly towards their destination.
“So, you said you wanted to ask me something once we got here… What is it?” The naturally blue haired female asked as they sat down at their table.
Ruby smiled broadly as she leaned forward a little. “I finally have my costume done and I wanted to know if you wanted to go with my brother and I to a local event they’re planning for Halloween!” The slender female asked excitedly. “My family’s going to be there along with a few others, we still have a bit of time if you wanted to work on a costume as well.”
“I don't know… what would they think if I showed up? They don't exactly like me…” Lilith replied.
“Why wouldn’t they like you?” Ruby asked as the light from the windows made her tanned skin and blonde hair seem to glow in the fading light. “Sure, my dad’s a devout christian and all that… but Mom strong armed him into at least shutting up when you’re around.”
“And your brother? He constantly teases me because I look like that virtual singer Miku…” Lilith sighed.
Ruby rolled her eyes. “He’s my brother… and you’re my girlfriend, he’s going to find some way to tease you. And he only does it because he cares about us.” Her grey eyes traveled slowly over Lilith’s form. “Obviously not as much as I care about you… but he cares.”
“I know, I know… But it still doesn't make him any less annoying and my halloween costume for this year is going to give him one too many opportunities to pick on me…” Lilith said as she flopped on the table, causing her D cup to squish against the table and emphasize her generous curves without realizing it.
Ruby smiled a bit as she sat up with a bit of her excitement coming back. “Really! What costume did you plan on using?”
“I-I’m going to be… Rimuru?” Lilith admitted nervously.
“Isn’t he just a ball of slime?” Ruby asked curiously as she sat back a bit. “...Sure I could see my brother teasing you for going as a slime… but that’s not a big deal.”
“But he’s cute! and I would be going as his humanoid slime form…” Lilith defended, while making a cute pouty face.
“Humanoid slime? Well… I can’t say I’m familiar with him more than the RPG-mob slime form he has… I’ve never read the Manga myself.” Ruby admitted.
“Then I will show you an image when we get back to my apartment!” Lilith said as she perked up. The tanned female smiled a bit before she began to look around.
“You know… does it usually take this long for someone to start taking orders?”
“EVERYONE ON THE GROUND NOW!” A man in a mask shouted as him and a group of other people wearing black masks barged out of the kitchen holding various types of guns, from handguns to almost-stereotypical assault rifles.
Ruby let out a small shriek as she pulled Lilith to the ground.
“By the ancestors! Whats going on!?” Lilith cried as she hid under the table with Ruby.
It was somewhat quiet as the masked people began making their way around, gathering the restaurant patrons and telling them to move to the center while staying low. They didn’t even bother looting for valuables as they worked, one of the masked people grabbed Ruby’s coat by the back of the neck and pulled her close like a human shield as she and Lilith were being moved.
“Get your hands off my girlfriend!” Lilith shouted as she and Ruby were dragged towards the center of the room. Sadly, the only compensation she had received for her protectiveness was the butt of a handgun across her jaw with a pained crack causing her to faint moments later.
The masked people seemed to be speaking in several different languages, a few even seemed to be shouting in the other languages on purpose, as she woke up. Flashing red and blue lights lit up the restaurant as the masked people who couldn’t find cover used patrons as human shields to keep the Police from simply putting a bullet in them.
As Lilith’s attention managed to pick out Ruby she crawled over to her girlfriend and embraced her... Putting herself between Ruby, the terrorists, and police so that she would be safe.
The lightly-tanned, younger girl had tears streaming down her face as her hands were clenched around a bleeding wound on her side, as much as she tried to stop the whimpers of pain they still escaped her lips as the crimson pool she was laying in slowly started to grow. The pain itself kept her from talking and her strength was fading faster with each second as several objects smashed through the windows and began to send a cloud of smoke out to fill up the entire dining room.
“Don't worry Ruby you'll be fine… I’m sure of it… you'll be…” Lilith said, trying to console her injured lover as the police barged in and the firefight began. Several loud gunshots rang out as the Terrorists tried exchanging bullets with the Police, one of the cracks from a rifle cut her off as a stray bullet sent a spray of crimson out of her back and forced her to collapse in a silent scream.
“L-Lilith…?” Ruby croaked out hoarsely as Police stormed in, shouting orders and calling for medical teams before any of the injured were rushed to the hospital, Ruby being one of them as the field teams tried to keep her from bleeding out on her way to a doctor.
When she had finally had come to her senses with most of them relatively intact she had been told about what happened to Lilith, the news itself had left the tanned girl speechless and nearly unresponsive as she had laid back in her hospital bed. She wanted to feel something… sadness… pain… hell, even loneliness would have been preferred enough to at least let her know she was alive…
But for all she wanted to feel… she just felt cold, that despite the doctors operating and fixing the gash in her side from the mis-fired round, she had died back in that restaurant with her lover.
Days passed in a blur as her family visited, none of the words they had to say seemed to stick in her mind, the cold washed any warmth they held out of the way. Even her brother seemed to be a bit more somber when he visited. Any other time she would have been surprised by how her father was reacting, though at least this time the words seemed to stick.
Ruby’s father was a truck of a man; big, burly and a god-fearing christian. Despite the rocky relationship that he had with his daughter when he had found out about her relationship, his desire to be a good father managed to at least keep his protests about it to an irate grumble. The fact that he seemed… just a little smaller when he entered that hospital room with the nurse was definitely something of note as he helped get Ruby into a wheelchair now that she was able to be dismissed from the hospital.
None of them said a word as they made their way to the ground floor, the silence reigned as they wheeled Ruby out the door. It wasn’t until they got in her father’s Dodge Stratus that anything happened.
The man who had been so protective of her when she was a child and didn’t blindly yell at her for finding someone she loved simply pulled her into a gentle hug, placing her head on his chest. “...I’m sorry… I know it won’t help the situation much… but… I know you loved her, and that she loved you…”
Many tears were shed as she finally felt that sadness that gave her a relieving break from just being cold, wrapped in the warm embrace of her father she finally broke down and cried.
“...How about… We hold a small memorial for her during tomorrow's halloween party? Just for you?” the man asked Ruby, hoping that something would happen that would make his daughter smile once more. Little did he know that someone was listening to his silent wish...
With a sniffle she nodded. “Yeah… that would be good…” She barely whispered.
Ruby’s father nodded his head as he let go of her and got into the driver seat and began to drive them home.
~The next Day~
Ruby sighed to herself as she began to put on the quilted vest and Imperium of Man-themed robe for her costume. A prop set of all her character’s gear was affixed to various places on her robe, like the compact stub revolver at her hip, the Psykana Mercy Blade just to the left of the belt buckle.
The real finishing touch to her heretical costume was when she added the smaller touches that darkened her tan just a little more and added the fake tooth that looked like Rou’s from Re:Monster. ”...if only Lilith had been here… she’d have laughed at the combination…” Ruby thought with a twinge of sadness as she finished getting the rest of her outfit around and pulled up the hood of her robe. With a deep breath she began to make her way downstairs.
As Ruby descended the stairs the doorbell rang, getting her attention. as she walked to the door the doorbell rang again, but only she seemed to notice for some reason… when she opened the door there was a man in a blue robe that made him look like a Nazgul holding a package with her name on it.
She gave him a curious look. “Um… who are you?”
“This is for you young one…” The man said handing her the package. “May you and your love be reunited.” He added before he disappeared in a puff of smoke.
With an even more confused look Ruby looked for a tag on the package. After a few moments she begins to open the package. The first thing that caught her eye was a small note that seemed to be stamped with the Imperial Aquila, a quick flick of her thumb and the note slipped open to reveal a single sentence.
“Only in death does duty end” Gain 1 wound
“What the…?” Ruby stammered as she silently read the Imperial Divination that was meant to bolster the zealous of the imperium to continue fighting. Her attention moved to the other item in the package.
As she opened the letter she found a golden ticket with writing on it. shrugging she decided to read the ticket.

“...Okay, now this is just getting weird.” Ruby said as she put the package back in one box and took it to her room. With an idle thought she placed the package on her bed and got herself prepared again for the Halloween party. With just a little curiosity she picked up the ticket again, reading the slip of paper over as her mind mentally chanted ”This is bullshit” over and over again while her heart felt that same icy stab again when she had been told that Lilith had died.
‘Oh you think this is fake?’ a voice said In Ruby’s head that seemed to come from the ticket. With a yelp she dropped the ticket and nearly fell backwards in surprise, backing away from the possessed scrap of paper. ‘Do you wish for a second chance? Do you wish you could start over?’ it asked.
“N-no… I… I don’t have any need to start over, demon ticket…” Ruby stuttered as she fumbled for the door handle.
‘I am no demon, I am an eldritch abomination thank you very much! And do you really not wish to be reunited with her ?’ It said, irritation in its telepathic voice.
She wanted to scream as she finally got the door open and began to sprint down the hall in a dazed panic. As she rounded a corner she found herself back in her room for some reason.
‘Really? you're going to run? arnt you at least curious what I meant by reuniting you with her?’ the ticket said to Ruby.
“You are talking about doing things against the law of nature…” She nearly screamed as she began to panic a bit more.
‘My master does not defy the laws of nature. And we could reunite you with her, no necromancy involved.’ The ticket deadpanned. ‘All we do is bend the rules to make people be able to have a second chance or to set their fate into motion.’
Ruby was paralyzed with fear, in front of her was a creature that was promising to do what her upbringing had told her was impossible, and behind her was just a loop back to the creature that was making the situation worse. Fear and panic built up and continued to root her to the spot before she began to break down again.
“Why?! Why are you doing this?”
‘Because we pity the plight of mortals and we wish to help them.’ the ticket said in a sad tone.
Her fear slowly managed to subside for just a moment. “So… you’ll bring her back here?”
‘No, we can not do that… she has left this plane and can not return, but we can reunite you with her in another. That other place is the one mentioned on my surface.’ The ticket said.
She shook her head. “No… I… I… you’re asking me to abandon everything else I have… my family… my friends… everyone else that I care about…” Tears began to build up. “Why do I have to give up everything to have her back!?”
‘Blame the unfairness that is this dimension.’ The ticked sighed. ‘If we were aloud we would re-write this hole branch of the multiverse, but we do not have the jurisdiction to do that… so this is the best we can do.’
She continued to shake her head. “I… I won’t abandon them… no…” She cried as she buried her head in her hands.
‘Then I shall wait for the day you decide you have changed your mind.’ the ticket said before going silent as the hallway behind Ruby returned to normal.
The phone began to ring as her parents tried to find out why she hadn’t arrived at the party yet, though their question was only recorded by the answering machine. The tanned girl slumped against the wall and continued to cry as her mind began to think back to the lore of her favorite game… in a way she prayed that somewhere in the Galaxy, the Emperor of Mankind was watching over her.
It was over an hour later when she finally got up and made her way over to the phone to call her parents back, apologizing for not being able to make it… they had told her that they understood and had been worried. Her voice trembled as she thanked them and hung up the phone. “...I want Lilith back… but… my family… my brother… why do I have to lose them too?” she cried as she sank to her knees.
A honk from outside of her home had alerted her to her dad’s car waiting for her. She made at least an effort to not appear as upset as she made her way out to him. The ride was quiet as they began to make their way across town to the building the party was being held at, even the radio seemed to be playing rather somber music as they traveled.
Something caught the edge of her vision as a pair of headlights screeched past the red light before everything went dark with the sound of rending metal.
The ticket cursed as it sensed the fate of its charge, and began emergency procedures as it teleported to Ruby. ‘I will not let the merchant get his way!’ It practically screamed in its mind as the truck that hit the car Ruby was in dissolved into smoke. the ticket then began to glow as it stretched and wrapped itself around Ruby’s bleeding body before vanishing in a burst of golden particles.
{Equestria, Somewhere in the everfree forest.}
‘W-what's going on?’ Ruby thought as she opened her eyes. ‘I could of sworn I was hit by a car…’ as her eyes adjusted to see her surroundings. As her vision cleared she noticed she was in a cave for some reason before she felt herself being picked up.
“Ah, the first girl to be born this year. And she is prettier than the ones born in previous years!” A ugly green creature that looked like a old man said as he held Ruby in his hands. “Lets call you, Cyrine.”
Memories burned through her mind, shouts of praise for a corpse-god to protect them as the searing willpower of that very being tested her soul and found her worthy while those around her were used to fuel the machine that kept the creature alive. Her life in a far-flung solar system flashed in such a painful blur that she started to bawl in the ugly creature’s grip. Even if they were just memories, she remembered the pain that she went through to get them.
The ugly creature then cradled Cyrine in his arms as he carried her into another part of the cave full of crying green babies that looked like the older one holding Cyrine. He then set her down on the ground next to the babies and walked back into the part of the cave he came from.
After a while Cyrine began to quiet down, her mind piecing together the memories that she had of her life both in the Imperium and on Earth… soon after she began to sit up, gritting her teeth as she tried to figure out what was going on. The first thing she noticed as she finally started concentrating was the presence of The Warp, how it cradled her mind in a much less chaotic way than she was used to… it felt… much more stable as her power began to manifest.
Her mind brushed against the presence of all her ‘brothers and sisters’ as well as the old creature… a few other presences made themselves known but she couldn’t place exactly what they were as she looked around.
“Elder! The new one is already up!” Another of the ugly creatures that looked like it might have been a female said. Cyrine looked over at the possible-female in slight confusion.
“Oh?” Said the old creature from earlier as he came back to the room Cyrine was in holding another ugly green baby that looks like it had just been born. “Well, we have a fast grower on our hands!” He laughed as he looked at Cyrine.
Cyrine tried to stand, though failed as her legs weren’t quite suited to it yet. It would be a few days before she was finally able to get up and listen to some of the news that the older creatures had been talking about regarding the horse-people again and how the ones in gold armor continued getting independant adventurers to push closer and closer to their home to drive them away.
While the rest of her ‘siblings’ were begging for scraps of food, she was mentally familiarizing herself with this world’s version of The Warp so that she could keep an eye out for any of those adventurers the elders spoke of. ”...what happened to me?” she asked herself as she spent one evening sitting at the entrance of the cave and staring towards the sunset. “...Lilith… where are you?” she whispered sadly.
“Cyrine, is something wrong?” The Goblin elder said to the 5 day old Goblin as he came to the cave entrance.
“I… I remember…” She replied with a sad sigh. “I… remember my old life… both of them… before I came here…” Cyrine explained quietly.
“Interesting, So what were you before you became a goblin?” The elder asked.
It took several seconds before Cyrine replied as she tried to think of what to say. “I was a human… in both lives… one where I was just trying to make it in life as… well… I don’t remember that part… but… in the other one I was a powerful human that could control something kind of like magic…” She explained as she tucked her knees a little closer.
“Hmm… I don't know what a human is but this is intriguing. And if you can use magic, why don't you try hunting?” The elder said scratching his chin.
Cyrine nodded. “I might as well… is there any sort of dagger that I could use?”
“Come with me.” The elder said leading Cyrine to the room that she was born in. She obediently followed behind the elder. “Take your pick.” He said as they entered the room. In the back of the room was a pile of armor and weapons, but scattered around the room were female anthropomorphic ponies in various stages of pregnancy with blank looks on their faces between her and the pile.
Cyrine had a horrified look as she noticed the ponies. “W-what are they doing here?”
“Those? Oh, they were captured by our raiding party for breeding from nearby villages.” The elder said with a smile.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, Goblin birth rates are low and females of our kind are rare. So we use Pony females to give birth to goblin children faster because they are more fertile.” The elder said as a bulge began to form in his pants.
“that’s absolutely disgusting…” Cyrine scowled, she tore her eyes from the females and quickly made her way to the weapons while keeping a distance from them the entire time.
The goblin elder ignored her comment and walked over to one of the females and dragged her off into a dark room as she kicked and flailed.
Cyrine scowled as she left the cave. ”I will not be part of anything like that… it’s… it’s…” she growled in frustration as she quickly made her way into the forest.
