//-------------------------------------------------------// Along Came A New Spider -by A Somewhat Decent Writer- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Arrival And Prologues //-------------------------------------------------------// Arrival And Prologues Alex was no ordinary kid, just a few months ago he was recently enlisted onto Peter Parkers backup Spider-Men, taking over Miguel O'Hara's spot as he retired. Things have been going pretty well. His friends now know his secret identity, and they help him on missions from time to time. He had a girlfriend after finally having the nerve to ask Sarah, her friend-slash-girlfriend out on a date. Needless to say he'd been having the best week of his life. Soon his wrist-phone beeped, it was a gift from Parker himself to show his gratitude for his services. He'd even given his friends one. But right now he was on patrol, and one of the neat features this one had was that it contained his Spider-Man suit, the standard one  all backup spideys must wear during their shifts while Parker handles the business in the industry. His messages were adjusted to fit in his lenses, appearing as a HUD for him. The message only read: Get back to HQ ASAP, somethings come up. P.P. Wasting no time, Alex commenced what Miles Morales, The Ultimate Spider-Man and one of the current Spider-Men of New York, dubbed this move as 'Web Rush', it was in short an improv technique, you had to use your speed as you soar through the New York skyline, and rely on your Spider-Senses to find the safest way across. As he swung through the city, he came across a familiar sight, The Baxter Building. Recently bought by Peter to keep the Fantastic Four spirit alive, he managed to build a statute in their honor in the main lobby. Boy, it was fun to see Johnny Storms reaction that day. As he landed on the roof, the helipad opened up to a workshop of sorts, inside was Parker, his friends, and Hobbie, the Prowler and the Head Of Security at PI. As well as one of the many backup Spider-Men, only he doesn't have any Spider-Senses, but that doesn't seem to slow him down in the slightest. In a way, it makes him edgier. "Hey guys, what do we need to talk about?" He asked as he pressed a button on his wrist, deconstructing his suit in a flash. "We need to talk about these strange energy signals that are coming from a quiet town called Ponyville." Jay answered when no one else would. Alex's brow furrowed, truth be told, the small Californian town was a quiet one. It also had a manageable crime rate. What was so strange about that town? "Strange energy readings?" He repeated. Peter nodded, "To some extent to what's been happening lately, I would've dismissed it as a miscalculation, however Jays findings proved otherwise." Jay continued, "These energy readings are...unconventional to say the least. Data proved that this was some kind of spell, but I couldn't get a proper read." "So what are we going to do?" Alex  asked. "I'm asking you all to go to that town and investigate the matter, we've also received reports that Zodiac, the terrorist group that's been trying to hurt our weapons shipment to SHEILD is setting up shop there. So you may need these." He pressed a button on the wrist-phone, instantly a lift brought up a variety of tools, including what was supposed to be a modified Parker-Phone. "For your missions, I granted you duplicates of the Spidey-Mobile and Spider-Cycle for your own personal use, both contain a camouflage unit that is solar powered and can disguise itself as an ordinary car or motorcycle. As for you Alex, I've talked with Miguel, he agreed to have his suit loaned to you, though the size has been refitted for you, I decided to have it tune in to your stealth capabilities. Making it easier to hide." Peter presented the group to each device, Alex's driving skills were rustic at best, but his motorcycle skills were his trademark. Too bad everyone else preferred the stake-shift. "So besides the Zodiac problem, what about the energy signals, what are we looking for?" Alex asked. Jay snorted, "Any traces of those were most likely purged, but a traffic cam took a picture when its battery short-circuited, took a dozen pictures when it did, all I did was crept around Ponyville's Police HQ files and found this." He handed Alex a picture, at most the street looked normal, then from the corner, he noticed what seemed to be rainbows? "What the fu--" Ah, language." One of Alex's friends, and the brawn of the group, Luis, chirped. "You sound like Captain America." Jay muttered under his breath. "Anyways, you'll ship off in a few days, you all have your own apartments to live in. I've already talked with the principle of that school about you guys, although I'm not your legal guardian. I convinced your parents to let you guys live there during the time being. I suppose you guys better get packing." Peter finished, the rest nodded and made their leave. "Seriously though, rainbows? What's next, a universe of talking multi-colored horses?" Michael, the groups resident wheel-man. Alex has seen impressive driving in his life, none of them could come close to Michaels however. It was as if his skills were that of a Fast and the Furious driver. "The bridge to Asgard is made of rainbows, and your complaining why?" Sarah asked, while the guys perfected close quarters engagement, she was always the one who took it to ranged conflicts at missions, farsighted they said. One week later... Dear Princess Twilight, Things have been very quiet since the Battle Of The Bands, but there's been talk of new students coming to our school, specifically five of them...on top of that there's this new company that's been on the rise since the last message. Parker-Industries I think it was its name. Plus these new 'Super-Heroes are roaming around a lot now. Somehow they tend to avoid this place. Anyways how've you been? I felt like I never get to ask that to you. I'm just rambling now..heh...sorry... Yours Truly, Sunset Shimmer Sunset closed the book as class was about to begin. Truth be told things have been quiet since the musical showcase,  but it was these new students that was gnawing her for the past few days. There hadn't been any new students since the Dazzling, and frankly, CHS could go without something weird happening that required her and her friends shooting songs of friendship at them. Needless to say she was nervous. Either way, it was exiting to say the least, and quite frankly, it was satisfying to be treated as an equal rather than an outcast since the Fall-Formal, if these students were normal, then maybe she could try being friends with them, she was nervous however when the report came in saying they were transfers from New York, from what she heard, New York people weren't exactly 'friendly'. 'Still...that far? Even if they were a group of friends, how come all of them get to go?' She thought to herself as class began. Her teacher, Ms. Harshwhinny was giving the normal routine greetings, until... "Class, before we begin, I'd like to welcome two new students that are outside right now, boys?" She asked, two boys walked in, one was taller, a bit paler, and had dark hair and green eyes, and sported glasses. He was wearing a Queens t-shirt and dark jeans. The other caught Sunsets eye, he was a bit shorter, but wore a red and grey hoodie, his eyes were chocolate brown and his hair was the same, something was also sticking out of his wrist, but it was heavily concealed. "Do you mind if you introduced yourselves?" She asked politely. The taller one nodded and spoke up, having an accent to what Sunset could figure was Russian, "My names Jay Makerov, this is my friend Alex, we're both transfers from Midtown High in New York. We and a couple of friends decided to move here as a decision to live a quieter life. We'd figure CHS was the best choice." His voice was formal, like he did this one too many times. Once Jay stepped back, the one called Alex decided to speak up. "Hi, I'm Alex and just like what Jay said here, we're both transfers from Midtown, I personally had a job since I live on my own and my boss decided it'd be best if me and my friends went to Ponyville to continue my work." His voice was calm, yet warm. Sunset noted his voice wavered when he mentioned he lived on his own. Suddenly a hand shot up, Sunset could see it was Vinyl, the DJ of this school. "Yeah?" Alex called out. "Who do you work for?" She asked. "Well it's kinda funny, but my boss is Peter Parker, the CEO of Parker-Industries..." He said sheepishly. 'Wait, WHAT!' Sunset was instantly alarmed by that answer, who to thought his boss was the rising star in the tech industry? Silence filled the room with mouths hung wide open. Sunset could barely notice his cheeks blushing slightly. 'Not one for attention though...' She added. 'Now I've done it...' Alex, mentally groaned, it was one occasion where his mouth would talk without realizing it. He could practically sense Jay mentally slapping himself. 'Well...it could be worse, I could tell them I'm Spider-Man...but I'm sure Jay would kill me.'He joked mentally. He was waiting for the teacher to sit them both down but noticed from the corner of his eye, she too was speechless. 'Why?!' He screamed in his head, it was time to end this. "So...um...we'll sit down now..." He tried to signal the teacher he and Jay were done. She blinked, "Oh! Yes, Alex you'll sit next to Sunset Shimmer, she's in the third row to your left. Jay you'll be sitting next to Tree Hugger, at the very back." She instructed. Alex could only glance at Jay, if he were talking, he'd be saying stuff like; What the fuck were you thinking?!' Oh well, it could be worse. He could be fighting terrorists on finals week, 'that was a nightmare. Sunset shifted as Alex took the vacant seat next to her, he may have glanced at her once, but his focus was clearly on the teacher. Clearly he wanted to salvage the day. As class continued, Sunset couldn't help but feel a sense of unease between the two of them. As if he was hiding something. Or she could be paranoid, that's a possibility. After class she headed down for lunch, as usual her friends were there waiting for her. She sat down with her lunch. Her friends doing the same. "So you've heard about the new kids?" Rainbow Dash asked, the group confirmed in nods. "I do reckon' that Luis kid reminded me of Pinkie, and a bit of Big Mac." Applejack added. "That Sarah gal is a quiet one, she rarely said a word since she introduced herself in music." Said Rarity. "Me and Mickey talked for a it during Physics!" Pinkie finally said, "He said him and his friends decided to stay here for a quieter life!" "Well what about the other two?" Rarity asked. "They were in my class." Said Sunset, "The taller guys name was Jay, and the other was Alex. Somehow Alex works for the CEO of Parker-Industries." She could only see the shocked looks on their faces. "Speaking of which, here they come." Rainbow said quickly. The five came and sat down on the table next to the girls. They could hear them conversing, but decided not to eavesdrop on them. "So Alex, wadd'ya  got for fourth period?" Michael asked as he chucked a piece rice cake into his mouth. "Me and Jay got Ms. Harshwhinny. You?" Alex replied. "Physics, met a girl called Pinkie, she's random, but nice." He answered. "I got History with a farm girl called Applejack, apparently she sell some of the best apples in America." Luis added. "I got put in music." Said Sarah, while she would've been more cheerful, she couldn't help but felt she was being watched, fitted for a girl wearing punk-rock clothes while being a red-head, "Any of you guys felt you were being watched?" "I wouldn't put too much thought into it, we are the new kids. Give it time." Alex retorted, all Sarah could do was give a huff. "I still don't know why schools in New York wouldn't use this 'Free Study' thing, it's amazing how much things I could get done during that time." Jay said in disbelief as he stared at his schedule. "At least we get more time about the 'you-know-what'." Sarah added, her voice getting quieter at the last part. Alex felt they were going to give too much away at this point and tried to change the subject. "So, what do you guys have after this?" He asked. "Alex, we have Free Study after this." Jay reminded him, Alex could only mutter 'oh' and blush with embarrassment.
