Chapter 1
The television was buzzing in the background as a lone author was battling writer’s block. She had engaged this foul beast over an hour ago and was almost ready to give up, when she let loose her last resort. A grim expression on her face, her fingers lowered as she clicked the keys “t,” “h,” and “e.” Exhausted, she collapsed back onto the coach. Her fingers ran through her short, un-attractive brown hair. What should she write, what should she write? A romance? Comedy? Mystery? Thriller? None of these appealed to her. In disgust, she slammed the laptop shut and pushed it away. She never came up with anything. She was hopeless! Her hazel eyes wandered back to the T.V., which portrayed an early episode of “The Twilight Zone”. Ugh. The remote clicked under her fingers to another channel. Surprise then shock spread across the young author’s face as she went across the channels, each portraying the same thing. Why would every channel be playing the same show? At the same time? It made no sense. She shook her head and muttered, “Dang thing must be broken.” She got up and went back to her room where she changed out of her pajamas. Deciding on jeans and a Mickey Mouse t-shirt, she grabbed her I-phone and logged onto Facebook. Her mates weren’t online. She checked around the web. NO ONE was online. She had checked at 12:oo a.m., and there was always some nutter online. She ran downstairs to look for her parents. They weren’t there. Maybe they had gone shopping? Nope. The cars were still in the garage. Her brother? His room was empty and the bed hadn’t been slept in. Panicked, she sprinted outside to the nearest house and knocked. No one answered. She checked house after house, but no one was there. She whipped out her cell phone and dialed 911. It rang… and rang… and was pick up by an answering machine. Hopeless, she began to weep, than scream, as it dawned on her. She was alone. Completely and utterly alone.

When she came back to reality, she had no idea how long she had been there. “I have to keep better track of time. Not that it matters anymore. –sigh- Come on, get a grip. It’s not the end of the world! Just… everyone else’s.” She knew she couldn’t stay here; eventually she would have to eat. She jogged back to her house to grab her bike. She started to mount, then stopped. Turning, she looked at her house. All of the lights were on. If everyone was gone there would be no one to work the electricity places (or whatever they’re called. Who cares anyway?). There was still hope! A smile split her face, and she started biking out of the suburbs.

The wind whipped her face as she raced down the deserted streets. Slamming the pedals, she screeched to a stop in front of the general store. She pushed the door open and stepped inside. Swiftly, she ran from aisle to aisle, stuffing everything she thought she needed into her backpack for a road trip by bike. She hoisted it onto her back, grunting from the weight. Oh, well. It would get lighter from using up the supplies. She turned around, looking for maybe the last time at the city that was her home.

Tesla Copernicus looked down at the flickering image in front of her, taking notes on all the human's reaction. With ponies filling up all of Equestria, a new place to live was needed. It was found on Earth. But before they could wage war on the creatures for their planet they needed to know how they would react to situations of such intensity. All around, other ponies were documenting on the eight subjects.
