Our story starts in the city of Canterlot, where a pegasus stallion was moving swiftly around, ducking below spears and sidestepping swords, using a saber with a dark blue guard to slice his latest victims into pieces, their blood splashing around and staining his clothing. His shadow seemed to be alive as well, slithering around like snakes with a common goal, protect the main body, shooting out of the ground and impaling unsuspecting guards and civilians as the stallion seemed to just dance around.
"Everyone, you have to stop Marr! We cannot let him reach the castle!" called the voice of Shining Armor, who was directing the assault on the invader who had the name of 'Marr'.
"Sir, we have reports that the weird shadows are appearing again, our men can't get anywhere near him!" A guard reported to the stallion who was commanding this fight.
"Damn it! Cadence, can we do the spell any time soon?" Shining Armor called out to his wife, Princess Cadence, who was off near a balcony, trying to focus her magic to prepare for a shield to remove the shadows from the area.
"Shining, we have about 10 minutes til a spell that can remove those monstrosities is prepared" She answered to her husband as quickly as she chould.
Back on the battle field, Marr seemed to be getting more intense, slicing his blade around more quickly as he was slowly getting closer to the castle, his shadows serving as a shield and as a weapon at the same time, blocking blows once in a while when Marr wouldn't be able to, and piercing through the chests of the guards other times. About 9 minutes later, Marr noticed a glow in one of the towers, where Cadence and Shining Armor were about to release a powerful spell. The pegasus opened his wings, flying towards the tower right as an amazing burst of magic was flying at him, but he didn't slow down in the slightest. Right before he and the magic were about to collide, he opened his left eye to reveal a glowing demonic symbol around his pupil, and the moment he did shadows swirled to be around him, and even though the spell that was launched at him was made to get rid of the shadows, they were so strong that Marr flew right up through the stream of magic, coming out in front of Shining Armor and Princess Cadence, slicing through both of them using the momentum he had from the flight, watching as their torsos fell away from their legs before he licked the blood off the blade, grinning.
From the top of the tower, Marr saw that the number of guards was very low so he decided he could safely go to the castle now, flying from the tower down to the courtyard and walked right up to the doors, pushing them open and smiling as he saw Princess Celestia, who looked like she had been expecting this. As he walked towards the throne, the walls of the room began to turn black from his shadow spreading out from him.
"I guess this is checkmate, huh Tia?" Marr said, the shadows suddenly shooting towards the chest of the Princess, but the moment this had happened, Marr saw a final guard, who's spear was just about to go through his chest where his heart was, using the drop in Marr's defense as an opening.
"Yes, Marrow G. Bones, it is check mate, and it would seem that I win." Celestia said, watching as the shadows all shattered as the spear went all the way through Marr's chest, missing his heart but still puncturing his lung.
Celestia and the guard watched in an ominous silence as Marr staggered back, pulling the spear out slowly, the symbol in his left eye shattering away as the shadows had as he fell to be on his back, looking at the ceiling as he felt tears well up in his eyes, the full gravity of what had just happened falling down around him, filling him with regret. The guard pulled Marr to be outside as guards and civilians began to walk into the courtyard, many of them hurt.
The guard pushed Marr to be on his knees in the courtyard as Princess Celestia grabbed a sword from one of the fallen guards, wiping blood off it before she put it against Marr's neck, pulling the sword back and swinging it. Right before the sword hit, Marr had a flash back of how this had all had started and what had happened up until this moment...

Two Years Earlier: The Cafe part 1
Marr was working in the new Cafe that had opened in the town of Ponyville, despite his cutie mark being one for a talent of Music. He had just finished taking a stallion's order before he saw a sad looking filly sitting off in a corner, seeming to be crying. Marr went back to the counter to get the stallion's food, setting it in front of him before walking to the filly, looking at her.
"Whats wrong, little one?" he had asked, kneeling down to look at the crying little anthro filly, setting a cup of milk in front of her.
"I... I just.. need something to eat," she sobbed as she grabbed the glass, "my daddy.. lost his job.."
"Well I think we can give you something, miss" Marr said, smiling as he set a menu down in front of her, patting her head as he got a notepad out.
"I.. don't have money though..." she sniffled, rubbing her eye with her sleeve.
"Did I ask if you had money, dear?" Marr softly told her, before taking her order for some eggs and toast, walking back to get her some, setting them down in front of her, putting 150 bits in the table with her, smiling as he went back to do his job.
The day went on for a while, and a few hours later, when Marr was closing up the little filly from earlier was waiting outside, her father with her, watching as Marr walked out.
"Sir, why did you give my daughter money?" the man said, staring at the gray pegasus.
"Well, she told me her father lost his job and she couldn't afford to eat. So I gave her something to eat on me and give her my last couple tips because I know what it is like to not be able to eat very well, and I couldn't just let someone so young experience that if I could help her. I would have given her more if I had it, but tips aren't very good to me since I'm not a female." Marr said, looking at the stallion who stood before him.
"I don't accept charity and neither will my daughter." the man said, grabbing his daughter's bits and extending his hand, to which Marr shook his head.
"With all do respect, I wont let you give that back to me, Sir." Marr said, before turning to walk away, heading home for the day to relax.
That night, Marr began to talk to himself about that day "Why was that man so against letting his daughter eat? How was his pride that strong, it's not like he has a reputation to uphold..." He decided to stop thinking about it before laying down in his bed, drifting off into sleep, as he had to get up early the next day to go to work...
