The Magic of Friendship

Flutter shy sighed as she sat down by her open fire. Flutter Shy normally spent hearth's warming alone. She was used to it. Just this year felt different. Now she had made new friends and learnt to be more confident, she wanted to share hearth's warming with them.

“I'm sure they are doing nice things with their families.” Flutter Shy sighed to her bunny, who was snuggled under her wing.

“I just wish I was with them.” She whispered. Letting a small tear drop down her face.

She got up, bringing Angle bunny with her. She walked over to her small tree which bared a few ornaments. But nothing special.

She picked up the only present that was under the tree. It wasn't addressed to Flutter Shy, but it was for Angle. She dropped the gift down. Angle quickly tore open the wrappings, to reveal a big juicy carrot. Angle smiled, and hugged Flutter Shy’s leg.

“I'm glad you like it.” She said softly.

She trotted over to her couch. She sat down and closed her eyes.

“Don’t be sad Flutter Shy. It’s just like every other hearth's warming. But why does this feel so much worse?”

                                   ------------------------------------------------------

Pinkie gazed at her massive cake in awe.

“Phew! It’s finally done!” Pinkie said gleefully.

The cake was made out of chocolate sponge. It had red and green icing all over it. With some other little decorations covering it.

“This might just be one of the best cakes I have ever made!” She bounced up and down. But suddenly stopped. “B-But I have no one to share it with.” She sighed.

The cakes had gone on vacation to mainhattern, to visit some family members. Leaving pinkie alone to take care of SugarCube Corner.

“I miss spending hearth's warming with them.” She said as her ears dropped.

She sighed. “I guess it’s just me and gummy this year.”

She looked over. She saw gummy was fast asleep on the floor.

“Maybe just me then.” She said.

She trotted up to her bedroom. She flopped on her bed and sighed.

“This doesn’t feel like hearth's warming.” She said as she closed her eyes. “Oh well. At least I have to towns carols to look forward to.”

                            ---------------------------------------------------------

Rarity pushed her hoof on her sewing machine peddle. She started intently at her dress.

“Just a little more there…..and done!” She said as she pulled her hearth's warming themed dress out.

The dress was see-through. It was a light icy colour. White snow like gems were sprinkled over it.

“Perfect!” She smiled.

She gazed down at her list of hearth's warming dress order list.

“One down…Just 99 to go.” She sighed.

This wasn't the way Rarity wanted to spend her hearth's warming, but she had a list of orders to do. And she didn't want to disappoint her costumers.

“Well. I can make 5 more, then I can take a break and go to see the carols by the town hall.” She said as she started to cut up some more fabric.

“Oh, this doesn't feel like a hearth's warming.” She sighed, and continued cutting.

                                ----------------------------------------------------------

Apple jack grunted as she bucked a tree. Apples feel down into baskets, as well as a pile of snow, which feel on top of Apple Jack.

She sighed as she picked her hat of her head, and wiped the snow off. She placed her hat back on, and shook the snow of her coat. She looked over the many apple trees that still needed bucking.

“Oh why did I agree to that order of one thousand warm apple ciders.” She said as she collected the baskets full of apples. It was just her and Big Mac on the farm. Apple bloom was at a party with her friends, and granny smith was fast asleep by the fire.

Apple Jack placed the baskets on her back and trotted away. She walked over a patch of sharp ice. She wobbled then fell on her back, knocking all the apples out of the basket.

“Oh horse apples!” Apple Jack yelled, as she pulled her self-back up.

“This ain't exactly how I pictured my hearth's warming to be.” She said sighing as she picked the apples back up.

                            ---------------------------------------------------------

Rainbow Dash sat on a cloud. Watching all of Ponyville getting covered in a thick layer of fresh snow, which was raining down from the clouds. A handful of pegasi had to mange to weather on hearth's warming. They would normally get picked randomly as no one wanted to work on that day. And this year, Rainbow’s name was picked.

“Best hearth's warming ever!” Dash said sarcastically.

She rolled over on the cloud she was sitting on. She noticed it had stopped raining snow. So she kicked it away, leaving a small gap in the cloud layer. Waved down for another pegasi to bring another fresh snow cloud in. Rainbow put the cloud in the gap, gave it a soft nudge, and fresh white snow started falling out.

“Yeah, best hearth's warming I've ever had.” A pink mare sighed as she flew back to her originally position.

“I bet all my friends are having a great time! And I'm stuck here. Managing a stupid cloud layer!” She said as her ears dropped down.

They had to stay there all day, but they were luckily allowed a small break to go and watch the carols down at town hall.

Dash noticed a bright white cloud began to fade. She flew over to it. And kicked it out.

“I just want this day to be over.” She sighed.

                                  -----------------------------------------------------

Twilight sat by her fire and used her magic to levitate a book to her face. Spike came down the stairs.

“Twilight? What are you doing still here? I thought you would spend time with your friends today.”

Twilight gave a sad look to spike.

“I wanted to. But they all seem to be busy. I went round to all their houses, but no one answered.” Twilight said as she turned the page with her magic.

“Well you shouldn't spend hearth's warming alone!” Spike said as he walked down to her.

“I'm not, silly.” She brought spike in for a hug. “But I do wish my friends were here, but I'm sure they are having fun somewhere else.”

Spike sat down by Twilight, and stared at the wall saying nothing.

“Um…Can we open presents now?” Spike asked.

“Of course.” Twilight smiled and levitated spike’s presents over to him.

“After you've done that, we should head over to the carols.” Twilight said. But spike ignored her. He just clawed open his presents.

                                   -----------------------------------------------

The mayor mare stood by a podium. She cleared her voice.

“Welcome everypony to the PonyVille's hearth's warming carols!” She said into the speaker.

Many ponies crowed around. Including six sad looking ponies. They all walked up to meet each other.

“What’s wrong?” Flutter Shy asked her friends. Rainbow Dash frowned.

“Oh nothing! It’s not like I've been clearing away stupid clouds all day, just so ponies can have some snow!” She yelled.

“I've been working on the farm all day. Some pony made an order of a thousand warm apple ciders that I have to get down by tomorrow.” Apple jack said sighing and looking towards Rarity.

“Oh, well, I've been working non-stop all day! Working on my new line of hearth's warming themed dressed that I have 100 orders to fill out!” Rarity said dramatically.

“I made a really big cake! Which was absolutely delicious, but I had no pony to share it with! And now, after I ate all the giant cake. I don’t feel so good.” Pinkie said as she put a hoof to her stomach.

“Sounds like you've all had such terrible day!” Flutter Shy gasped. “I've just been alone all day.”

Twilight frowned and shook her head.

“This isn't how hearth's warming should be spent! We should be sharing it with friends and family, not on our own!”

Rainbow flew up. “She’s right! We should be spending it together. So why aren't we?!” Dash asked.

“Well I didn't want to ask y'all to help me work on the farm. I felt it would be rude of me.” Apple jack admitted.

“I did think about asking you for help. But I just thought you would all be busy with hearth's warming.” Rarity said.

“I wanted to ask you guys for help. And I would have! But you’re not Pegasi.” Dash said dryly.

“Well I'm sure we can find a way to help all of you!” Twilight smiled. “Even if we are working. We will be together which will make it so much better.”

The six friends nodded, and hugged.

“We can go after the carols are over.” Rarity said as she turned to face to mayor mare.

                         ------------------------------------------------------------------

“And that’s the last of them!” Apple Jack said as she placed down a basket of apples.

The six friends gazed upon the now empty apple trees.

“Thanks for y'all help.” Apple Jack said, giving her friends a hug.

“You’re welcome AJ. I gotta admit, it was kinda find doing this with my friends. Now! Let’s go help Rarity make.” Dash stopped and sighed for a second. “Dresses.”

When the six of them arrived at Carousel boutique. Rarity gave them each jobs to do. Rarity sat at her sewing machine. With her friends help she started to make the rest of the dresses.

“Phew! It only took 6 hours, but we did it!” Pinkie pie jumped up and down excitedly.

Rarity looked at her 100 heath's warming dresses. And smiled.

“Oh I can’t thank you enough for all your help!” Rarity pulled all her friends in for a hug.

“Now…how to help Rainbow.” Rarity said.

The six friends sat in silence, trying to think how they could help their Pegasus friend.

Then out of nowhere. Pinkie let out a loud gasp.

“I know!”

                                      --------------------------------------------------

Twilight cast the spell on Rarity. Who was the last of her friends on the ground, Flutter Shy, Rainbow Dash and Twilight all lifted rarity up off the ground, and onto the clouds.

“See I told you it would work.” Pinkie smiled.

Twilight has used the cloud walking spell she used when her friends went to see Rainbow preform in the young flyers contest.

Now it was the evening, they had to remove the cloud layer. So each of the friends started kicking out the block of clouds.

                                                         ------------------------------------

The six friends sat on one last could. The watched as the moon rose high into the sky.

“Thanks guys, for making my day better.” Rainbow dash to her friends.

“Yeah, my day started off being pretty bad. But y'all made my day a whole lot better.” Apple jack smiled.

The six friends hugged each other.

“I've got the best friends ever.” Twilight said and she put her wings and hooves around her friends.

“Best hearth’s warming yet” Flutter shy said.

“Yeah…I wouldn't go that far Flutters, that day was still pretty bad.” Dash said as she continued to hug her friends.

They laughed and hugged each other.

“Hey! We haven’t had hearth's warming dinner yet!” Pinkie blurted out. “Let’s have it together.”

The rest of her friends nodded in agreement.

“Sounds like a good plan.” Twilight said as she helped fly down her friends from the cloud.

                                     ----------------------------------------------

“It’s ready!” Pinkie yelled from her kitchen.

The five other ponies all sat round a large table in Sugarcube Corner. They laughed as they told jokes and stories.

“Did I tell you about the time I spent two days searching for Angle in town?” Flutter Shy asked.

The six friends were about to say something, but Pinkie interrupted.

“It’s here!” Pinkie said as she placed as massive, steaming turkey on the table.

The five friends looked at it in awe.

“Don’t just stare at it. EAT!” Pinkie yelled, as she started to cut bits off of it.

                               ------------------------------------------------

The six friends lay in front of a warm fire, patting their fully bellies.

“Thanks for that Pinkie. That was amazing!” Rainbow Dash said as she rubbed her belly.

“You’re more than welcome! I'm just glad I could make all your hearth's warming’s a little bit better.” Pinkie smiled.

The six friends slowly started to drift of to sleep.

“You guys are the best friends ever.” Twilight said with a yawn.

No one heard what Twilight said, as each of them had fallen asleep. Twilight chuckled and rolled her eyes. And she too, closed her eyes and fell asleep.
