Chapters We received a 20 year warning, yet it was not enough. A strange creature from the depths of space had awoken and had started to consume the universe one galaxy at a time. We knew what was coming and we tried to make a portal to a new universe. We succeeded, but it was too late, the creature had arrived to consume our galaxy. Only one of us could make it through in time my colleges told me before shoving me through,
“Don’t mourn us too long. Live out your life with love and happiness.”
My name is Arenar Carbo, and this is my story of how I went from a universe of logic, to a universe of friendship and magic. This is the story of how I came to…Equestria.
Chapter 1: Through the Portal
(Days until “The Big Crunch”-10)
I was running along the main hallway towards Lab 2B where the portal was. As soon as I the door was within sight I slowed down to catch my breath for a minute. After I had regained some of my breath, I walked into the lab and one of the scientists gave me a quick salute,
“Greetings Dr. Carbo sir!”
I just gave him a nod to let him know that I heard him and went to inspect the portal.
“Dr. Mercer, how goes the portal?”
He looks up from his data-pad to me and says,
“Well Arenar, the portal itself is stable we just need to finish checking everything to make sure that it’s safe to use.”
“And how long will that take?”
“About 10 days to check and make sure everything is in order”
[Attention all personal. The creature has been sited and will be here in 10 days. Please make sure the portal is operational in time. Thank you and have a nice day!]
After that we all just looked at one another in silence before we all rushed to complete our tasks.
(Days until “The Big Crunch”-1)
The past nine days have been hectic. Tomorrow we start up the portal and begin moving as many people as we can through. I was walking along the main hallway when suddenly the alarms started going off and the PDA system blared out,
[Attention all personal. The creature has arrived. Please enjoy what little time you have left. Thank you and have a nice day!]
At that I sprinted to the portal room to find the scientists franticly moving about with the portal online when Dr. Mercer spotted me he ran up to me and said,
“Well my friend looks like only you will escape.”
Before I could say or do anything he picks me up and tosses me into the portal and suddenly I was surrounded by a rainbow of colors and then nothing.
(Time since entry into Equestria- 5 hours)
I woke to the sound of the steady beeping of a heart monitor and felt the warm embrace of blankets. After some time I began to remember the rainbow of colors that I had seen before blacking out it was at that point that I began to wonder what the inhabitants of this universe looked like. I knew they were friendly at least because otherwise I wouldn’t be in a hospital. My inner contemplating was interrupted when the door open and a white pony with a red plus on its flank walked in with its muzzle pointed at the clip-board that it was somehow carrying and began to mumble to itself,
“Why do I have to check up on the strange creature? For all I know it could attack me if it wakes up! *sigh* sometimes I really hate my job.”
After hearing this I can safely say that the pony is without a doubt female and I decide to put her worries to rest by saying,
“Don’t worry I’m not going to attack you or your kind unless provoked, I’m just curious as to why you would help me despite the fact that I could have attacked you.”
After hearing this she let out an admittedly adorable squeak of fear and turned to face me with eyes wide in fear before she runs out quicker than I can ask her for her name. Afterwards I just lay there in my hospital bed waiting for something to happen. After 20 minutes of waiting the door opens and the nurse from before comes through with some more ponies. Immediately my vision is filled with pink as a high-pitched voice says in a rapid way,
“HIMYNAMEISPINKIEPIEWHAT’SYOURS?DOYOULIKECUPCAKESCACKANDPARTIES?WHAT’SYOURFAVORITEFLAVEROFCAKEANDCUPCAKE?MINEIS…”
Suddenly her rapid babble is cut by my hand clamped over her muzzle as I look at her and say,
“Now I’m going to remove my hand from your muzzle and you are going tell me in a calm manner who you are and repeat your questions to me. Sound good to you?”
I get a nod from the pink pony. After I removed my hand from her muzzle she gives me a bright and cheery smile before saying,
“HI! My name is Pinkie Pie, what’s your name? Do you like cupcakes, cakes, and parties? What’s your favorite flavor of cake and cupcake?”
After I get done thinking I tell her that my name is Arenar Carbo and that yes I do like cupcakes, cakes, and parties and that my favorite flavor of both is chocolate. Before I can say anything else Pinkie zips out the room and leaves me blinking for a bit before I look to the other mares in the room and ask,
“What just happened?”
The purple one says,
“Oh don’t worry about it, it’s just Pinkie being Pinkie. By the way, my name is Twilight Sparkle and I’m the princess of friendship.”
After hearing this I say,
“Well forgive for not bowing princess because as you can see, I am currently unable to.”
After telling me it’s not a problem the orange pony with blond mane tips her cowboy hat at me and says with a southern drawl,
“Howdy there sugercube, mah name’s Applejack Ah help run Sweet Apple Acers, home of the best apples in Equestria!”
Then the white unicorn with a purple mane clears her throat and says with a very refined accent,
“Hello darling, my name is Rarity and I own The Carousel Boutique which is where I make clothes for formal events.”
Next to introduce herself is the cyan Pegasus with rainbow mane says in a bit of a scratchy voice,
“Sup? Name’s Rainbow Dash! Fastest flier in all of Equestria and future Wonderbolt!”
I waited for the sixth mare to speak up but when I looked to where she was before I couldn’t find her so I asked,
“Where is the yellow and pink Pegasus that was here a little bit ago?”
After I said this the others looked for her and came to the realization that she had left. When I asked if it was something I did they told that no she was just shy around new friends and to not worry about it and that she will come around eventually. When I asked for her name Twilight said that her name was Fluttershy and that she took care of sick and injured animals. It was then I discovered a way to try and befriend the shy Pegasus, ask her if she has a favorite animal and if she could point me in the right direction to get a pet of my own when I have my own place. With that in mind I decided that tomorrow I will try and approach Fluttershy. {This should be interesting} was my last thought before turning in that night.
Chapter 2: Welcome to Ponyville.
Chapter 2: Welcome to Ponyville.
I wake up to the feeling of something poking me in the side. I look and Nurse Redheart poking me with her hoof and when she sees that I’m awake she stops and says,
“Alright mister Carbo you are now clear to leave the hospital. The six mares that were here yesterday are out in the lobby waiting for you.”
After getting dressed and climbing into the wheelchair she had brought for me I let her wheel me into the lobby where just she said the girls, even Fluttershy, where there waiting for me. Once I arrived Twilight smiled and gave me a quick hug followed by the rest of the girls. But when it was Fluttershy’s turn a purple glow encompassed her and spread her forelegs around me and disappeared after the glow vanished she stiffened before relaxing and hugged me a little tighter before letting go and joining the rest. When I looked over I saw that she had a bright smile on her face so I just smiled at her and said,
“Well that was not what I had in mind for getting Fluttershy to open up to me, but I guess it worked out in the end so I can’t complain. Anyway I’m still wondering if any of you know where I could adopt a pet once I get my own place.”
At that Fluttershy smiles and says that she also provides ponies with pets if they want one and to come by her place when I’m ready to adopt a pet. After I told her that I would I asked her if she had a favorite animal and she told she did have a pet named Angel Bunny and from there we started talking about all the different animals in our worlds. I think Twilight caught on to me using past tenses when referring to my world because Twilight’s first question for me was,
“How come you keep using past tense when referring to your world?”
When she asked that my smile disappeared faster than an ice cube exposed to a blow torch. I simply said that my world was no more and that I am the last of my kind. When she asked how I got here, I told that I had been a part of the team that built a portal to another universe. It was scheduled to be used to transport as many humans as we could get into the portal, but the beast that was devouring the universe arrived two days earlier than we had planned and only had time to send one human through, namely me. When the rest of the girls heard that they all stopped and looked at me with big, sad eyes and then the next thing I know I surrounded in a group hug with me in the center. I give them a sad smile as I return the gesture as best as I could and said,
“Thank you girls for the hug. I guess I really needed that.”
Suddenly, a piece of paper appeared in front of Twilight and as soon as she read it, she looked at me with a smile and said,
“Well I think it’s time to head to the castle. Don’t you think girls?”
After saying that she passed the piece of paper around and each of the mares smiled at what was on it. Before I could look at it, it suddenly burst into flame and Twilight told that the answer to what was written on it is in her castle. So with that, we all headed towards the big crystal castle. After we arrived at the castle, Twilight smiled and said,
“Well, after you!”
I gave her a ‘really?’ look before I opened the door and see that the lights are all off. Before I could question it the lights came on and I hear Pinkie Pie shout,
“SURPRISE!!”
With that I jump and take a defensive stance before I see that it’s just Pinkie with a bright smile on her face she then asks me if I was surprised and when I said I was she smiled even bigger and started bouncing around in joy before she stopped and said,
“Well enough standing around! LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!”
With that the rest of the mares proceeded to enjoy the small party during which Twilight decided to ask me some more question about Earth. Needless to say she was fascinated and horrified at what humans had done. Then Rarity started asking me about fashion to which I simply told her that I never really followed fashion in my world and that for the last 20 years me and my team were working on the portal that brought me here. After that Pinkie decided to drag me around to play some of the party games. After she finally let me go and I found nice place to sit and rest for a bit, Fluttershy walks up to and sits next me and we continue to talk about animals for a bit before Applejack and Rainbow Dash decided to have a drinking contest which I somehow got roped into. After about three or four drinks all three of us a buzzed and laughing like crazy and just having a good time. By my sixth mug of cider I’m well and truly drunk while AJ and Dash are only starting to get drunk. Before I can drink anymore and end up doing something stupid I bow out saying with a heavy slur to my speech that I’m going to call it quits and go relax. They both started jeering at in their own drunken rants which stopped as soon as I found my spot from before and slumped down and laid my head back for bit before Pinkie came up to me and asked if I was having fun and thinking back to what Gabriel Iglesias said to someone when they asked him and he was drunk I smiled and responded in my best Irish accent,
“Ay! I’m havin’ a great time!”
After that I bust out laughing only to look over and see a very confused Pinkie looking at me which causes me to laugh even harder before I lay down on the couch with a few more chuckles before I pass out and into the world of dreams.

Chapter 3: The Morning After. (A.k.A The Hangover and Dear God Why Did I Try to out drink AJ and Dash?)
After I woke up I had a harsh headache and I saw AJ and Dash slumped over each other. When I saw that I grabbed my phone a took a picture to tease them with later. Apparently, the sound of my phone taking a picture was enough to rouse both of the drunken ponies and as soon as they realized the situation they were in they sprung apart as fast as they could while I was chuckling at them they soon heard me and Dash said,
“Please tell me we didn’t do anything last night?”
Being the asshole that I am I decided to mess with them a bit before I told them the truth and said,
“Well, I could barely get any sleep with the amount of noise you two were making. By the way, I had no idea your voice could go so high Dash!”
Their looks of horror were priceless! But before they could have a full blown panic attack, I tell them,
“I’m just kidding! I passed out after my sixth cider so I don’t know what happened after that.”
My smile fell when looks of rage appeared on both of their faces. It was at that moment that I knew, I had fucked up. Before they could pounce I jumped and ran screaming,
“I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY”
While a very pissed off AJ and Dash chased me around the castle until Twilight caught all three of us in her magic before taking a deep breath and demanding to know what was going on. Before I could say anything AJ and Dash told her what happened and when she turned to look at she looked at and said,
“Is this true?”
Then I said,
“Well in my defense I told them I was joking before they had a panic attack! So that should count for something right?”
After a bit of thinking, Twilight agreed that it did count for something but before I could breathe a sigh of relief she said,
“Which is why instead of letting these two beat you up like I was going to, I’m only going to let them hit you a few times.”
The fact she said this with a smile made me very nervous as to how many hits she considered a few before she set down AJ and Dash and then dropped me to leave me to my fate. After I received my punishment from those two we all went to the dining hall and when the others saw me they all gasped and Fluttershy immediately started looking over me and when she asked what happened I simply said,
“Applejack and Rainbow Dash happened. Although I did deserve it because of the little prank I pulled on them.”
When they asked what I was talking about I told them and when I was done Pinkie and Fluttershy were actually giggling at what I described while Rarity had a disapproving look on her face. Then I said I even took a picture a before AJ and Rainbow could do anything I showed them the picture and then even Twilight and Rarity started to giggle at them and before AJ and Rainbow could say anything I showed them the photo as well before telling that I was now going to delete it. After deleting it AJ and Rainbow told me thanks and we went about digging into our breakfast which was an assortment of pancakes so I grabbed some chocolate chip pancakes as well as some blueberry pancakes and buttered them, cut them up and then put some syrup on them. When I took my first bite after swallowing I said,
“Wow! These are some good pancakes, my compliments to the chef.”
When I said that Spike grinned and said,
“Yeah, my pancakes are the best around. Probably the only one who makes better pancakes than me is Granny Smith with her apple pancakes.”
After hearing that AJ said with a bit of smugness that nopony could make pancakes better than Granny Smith. I gave a light chuckle and told her I would take her word for it. After we had all finished eating Twilight told me that both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna were coming for a visit to meet me. When I asked who they were, Twilight went into a sort of ‘Lecture Mode’ and gave me a rundown of who they were and what they did as well as what they looked like. At the end of her lecture, there was a bright flash as two Alicorns suddenly appeared in the dining room. Once I was able to see clearly again I saw two Alicorns, one a brilliant white with light multi-colored mane and tail and a slightly smaller night blue Alicorn with a mane and tail that looked like the night sky. Before I could say anything Princess Luna giggled and pointed at my face saying,
“What has happened to your face?”
I just gave a deadpan look and said,
Rainbow Dash and Applejack happened. Though I did kinda deserve it for the prank I pulled on them.”
When she asked what the prank was and I told her she was able to keep a straight face for about three seconds before she burst out laughing and had to sit down because of how hard she was laughing. Rainbow and AJ, on the other hand, were turning bright red at this point and were giving me death glares. Princess Celestia simply chuckled at the story and waited for her little sister to calm down before she said anything. Once Princess Luna had calmed down, I bowed and said,
“It is an honor to meet you in person Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Twilight has informed me of who you two are and has told me good things about you.”
Before we could continue a pink mare with a purple and light blue mane entered and said,
“TWILIGHT! I’M BACK! How was y-.”
She stopped talking when she saw me and her brow raised when she saw the looks AJ and Dash were giving me and asked,
“What’s with the strange creature and why do Rainbow and Applejack look like they want to kill it? Also, why are the Princess’s here?”
