my name is Big Mac, Normally You'd never hear me speck, when I was younger you'd hear a 'Eeyup', Or an 'Eenope'. Though really After the last few years, and more growing my life has changed, though really My life hadn't started out the way I wanted to. In truth I never really lived, Sure I had a home, and a family. The thing is, all that had changed back a few years back.
A fire had broken out at Sweat apple Acher's, It tore though the place. My home, my sisters, and Granny died in the fire some how though I'd managed to survive it, barely without a scratch sure there, still the scares over my neck, but those are easy to covered by the Horse Tack that's been around my neck since I'd been a kid.
The problem was, I had nothing No family, No home nothing. everything I had back than was gone. Little Apple bloom was lost, Too young they always are. She'd just discovered her dream her wish to help people, guild them to what they felt would be their destiny. My other sister, The strongest of us all AppleJack, Stubborn as a mule I'd sadly been force to watch her suffer, her crys, her scream. As she'd been burned alive.
Granny, She'd always told me that she'd die in that house, well she got her wish. Though with it, left me Alone with nothing, Sure Applejack's Friends helped me some, I've been staying over at their place. The thing is I'm unable to sleep, their was nothing left for me. The closes people I'd have was gone. The work, i'd spent all my life was lost, I'd given up my chance for College to follow, farm life.
There was nothing left, for this Farm boy... What could I do.
Tonight it was Saturday, and here I was a six foot-three man, moving down the street's of the old town, looking around seeing the bleak nothingness, of our dying town. The lights burning, barely the street lights going though, What more was there.
I showed no tears Dad had knocked those out told me a man, never needed to cry and the truth was, I still had some fear of the man even in his grave, Applejack never know him as much as I had.
There it was when I passed by the Neon sign, flashing over causing my head to turn at that moment to get a better look over at it.
It simply read, to me: 'Flim Flam pawn shop.'
I'd remember them, bastards had tried taking the farm, though we'd scared them away a long time, though for the most they quit hunting for them and opened a pawn shop. There didn't seem like much for the place, though heard rumors about the place, hearing they were cheap scates giving the lowest they could on things,
The neon sign simply said, 'Saturday Night Special.' This more than anything caught my attention than anything. I'd heard from others that Flim Flam Brothers sold stuff Cheap on these night but only if you where twenty-one maybe fifteen if you lie.
There was also, a saying I heard from pa, who spoke about brokers, I never understood why that bit came to me, I never really listened much though he simply told me;
"A broker in any pawn shop will Deal in almost anything. He'll Deal in almost anything, and He'll pay for your misery or sell the pain of others towards you just as long as ya'h pay a good price."
He even said that there always a greedy twinkle in their eyes saying your loss will simply be his pain.
Though another though came into my mind, and so I walked towards the building and soon entered, the ringing echoed though the whole building it seemed like I was the only one in there till I notice someone standing in the cornor I was a girl, No a woman It was hard to see her though the shadows though i could tell her marble grey hair, covering one eye and a tear's running down her cheek, she seemed like she was too afraid to come out.
Though for the moment I ignored, her soon heading to the front of the desk. That was when I saw it, right there in the table, It was a simple Colt, A model 1911 to be precise, just laying there rather old for the truth, though it seemed familiar, though for a moment I notice something.
There was initials, C.A they looked familiar, though shacking my head once i heard his voice;
"Now what Might I do for you good sir?" Looking up I saw Flim, maybe it was flam, really I didn't care, simply looking down at the pistol, and simply asked;
"How much for the gun?"
"Well my good man, Mind if I call you that? Oh well, This gun here is a very special one and fine taste if i might say so myself, see this was owned by an old Outlaw by the name or Crab Apple."
Shacking my head, hearing that name, Should have known it was him. The old man, even dead Pa could never leave me Alone. My expression never changed soon looked back up towards the Con artist the broker, simply said;
"How much for it?" Eyes never changing right than though looking over as I saw the twinkle in his eyes;
"Well how this, I'll sell this perfectly fine gun, even freshly cleaned Did it this morning for about, One-hundred and fifty, I say."
The broker really grinned though thinking for a moment, soon closing my eyes as i though;
'Should I? Would it be worth it?' Though soon my eyes opened up again, and simple said;
"Fine but on one condition, Throw in one bullet, and You've got a deal."
There seemed to be all it took to sway the man, as he chuckled;
"Fine than you have a deal, than."
Guess the stories of Brokers where true If someone was gonna die well the broker at a pawnshop won't even blink an eye. Though I nodded, and handed him the very last of my money all I had left really. Flim, I guess handed the gun right over towards me. Than I turned getting ready to leave. The woman in the back, who sniffled more, headed up towards the man.
Right than when i was about to leave, the plan I had, I was gonna use that bullet, End my life nothing hard, really what more did I have left, everything I knew was lost. So really there wasn't much left.
I was almost towards the Door, that was when I heard Him say it;
"This Ring nothing but Junk, So hows this Seven Dollars and Nothing more."
Hearing that grin coming from his voice, Even I knew there his Dollars wasn't making sense, as i took in a deep breath and snapped my head back;
"Sir what was that."
My hand Reached over towards my pocket, the same holding the very same gun he'd just sold me, the one with a bullet ready in the chamber;
"I said Seven Dollars, And nothing more, why ya'h need to know that Sir."
It would've taken him a moment, to make a realization, from my ice cold stare. Than where my hand was. He knew the gun was there, though what he didn't know was I wouldn't use it on him. It'd never leave my pocket that's for sure;
"I gotta ask you this, Sir. How much do you think your life is worth?"
Than right there, the cash register opened up faster, than a blink of an eye, and for a simple golden wedding band He paid two-thousand one hundred and fifty more.
Smirking more, me and the lady walked out of the pawnshop, She stayed close by me, I'd later found out her name was Marble, kind girl, Also had found out her husband left her for some, chick he met on the internet. Really I guess for the most part we where lost soul's standing out there.
That Saturday night special, was special even though it wasn't planned. As we walked down the sidewalk, she reached taking my hand soon crossing over a bridge, and looking down at my other hand where the gun was.
My Father Crab Apple his name. He'd been a thief, a cheat and a woman/child beater, though tonight. His gun, something that caused pain and horror on other, it'd almost ended my life. But instead it did something else. Even his advice about pawn brokers was true also. I looked over it one last time, right before looking over at the lake, and with that I gripped it tight.
Chucking that thing as far as i could in it, watching while it sailed though the air. Vanishing in the darkness. I looked over towards Marble, I smiled giving a bit of the southern charm and said;
"Ever been ta'h Appleoosa?" Her eyes soften even the tears leaving her than as she spoke softly towards me.
"You know I think I'd love it there."
Oh yes That Saturday I would never forget nether of us did and I even heard more rumor's about that pawnshop. They weren't bad the only thing that I heard was this;
"You can't buy a Pistol there, You can't hock your wedding ring."
