Fates Hourglass
Prologue (Remastered)
Load Full StoryNext Chapter“And so it has been foretold. The Doctor with the box shall return on the thousandth day of the eight century to save Equestria”. Twilight finished the page with a satisfying sigh.
She closed her copy of Predictions and Prophecies and gently placed back onto the proper shelf. Though she wanted to find out more about this "Doctor", it was well past midnight and she couldn't make it across the street let alone the Canterlot Archives without passing out from exhaustion.
"Well, there's always tommorow" Twilight thought. "Always tommorow"

The sun arose and shined its light onto Twilight's forehead. She moaned as she slothfully awoke and packed her saddle bag.
She trotted to the train station and got a flimsy ticket to Canterlot.
She hopped in and plopped down onto the nearest seat. "All aboard that's comin' aboard!" The conductor yelled. The door slammed shut and the conductor walked through the aisle checking tickets.
Twilight stared outside of the window while the train departed, she felt bad about not telling her friends. Hopefully Spike will tell them, she thought to herself.
In the corner of her eye she caught something. It had two back-hoofs and stood straight up. It wore formal attire and had a slightly off mane with no coat.
She looked behind her and all that was there was the conductor. "May I see your ticket, Ma'm?" Twilight nodded and handed her ticket over. "Very good." The Conductor said, handing it back.
The conductor moved on, but when Twilight looked into her window, she saw a black cloaked pony with only its cutie mark visible- an hour glass.
Twilight turned around and, again, there was nothing there. "Man, staying up all night was a bad idea"
She slapped her cheek and slumped over, hoping to make up- not easy feat.
After an hour of the bumpy, half-awake, nap the train finally jerked to a stop, throwing Twilight out of her seat.
“Final stop, Canterlot!” The Conductor shouted, uncomfortably close to Twilight’s ears.
“Uhhh” Twilight moaned, shaking her head awake. “I gotta keep my game up…” she mumbled, heading out of the train station.
The Archives were conveniently less than two blocks away- and pretty empty.
With renewed vigor, Twilight got through the Archive's door and headed straight for the History Wing.
She must not have paid too much attention to where she was going, because she bumped into Princess Celestia herself. "Oh hello, Twilight. What are you doing here so early?" The princess asked.
"Oh, I'm just here to research somepony that goes by 'The Doctor'" Twilight replied.
Celestia's eyes went wide. "Did you say The Doctor?" Celestia yelled shockingly.
Twilight nodded and Celestia got a very serious look on her face.
"How did you find out about him?" Celestia shouted.
"There's a whole section about him in my copy of Predictions and Prophecies" Twilight said, pulling it out of her saddle bag.
"That's impossible! I wrote that book!" Celestia began standing defensively.
"When was the last time you read it?" Twilight replied in what was almost a whisper.
"When I revised it. And I know for one thing that I didn't include HIM! I’ll have his head for any trickery!"
Suddenly, the Archives echoed with a very loud noise that made the foundation shake. Suddenly, before Twilight Sparkle's very eyes, a blue box appeared.
"How did...?
A colt poked his head out and said:
"Did I hear my name?
