A Soldier's Thoughts
Moving Tail
Load Full StoryYou have been chosen to serve for Princess Celestia herself to fight against the evil King Sombra. He has The Crystal Empire in his grasp. Make sure that we get it back. Moving Tail couldn't read anymore. Just the first few sentences alone broke her. Her white and black tail drooped her dark brown ears flattened against her slightly dark tan, fur coated head. Her shining, blue eyes, had been replaced with sulky, tear filled ones. She dropped the scroll. The tears went slowly down her cheeks, ending their trail at her chin and fell down on the royal scroll.
"Mom? Are Thou okay? Thou said you would tuck us in! Thou have been down the stairs for hours!" whined a soft, clear voice. It was the voice of Tail's daughter, Lucid Safari. She was the only thing left. Tail's husband died before she could save him.
"W-we'll be right there, Lucy." Murmured Tail. She quickly wiped away her tears and tried to brighten herself up. She walked up the stairs. But she found nothing. Tail frowned. Lucid was dead. She had died to days ago fighting Sombra and his army. 'Maybe Celestia selected us as to replace our daughter.' She thought. Sighing, Tail went out the hall, into her room, and collapsed on her floor. She thought she had something to hold on to, to use as evidence why Celestia couldn't make her go. But she didn't. Her family was dead. Her job was worthless. She had no pets. All her friends died in the fire that took her husband away. Letting her tears fall, Tail fell asleep, not prepared for what was to come.
Moving Tail groaned. It was morning already, and if she didn't lift her body up, she would be late. She went out, and trotted down the stairs. Only using up enough time for buttered toast, Tail stuck her breakfast in her mouth. Chewing slowly, Tail marched out her door. To be greeted by nothing. Tail lived far away from many. The only neighbors she had were animals and some pegasi. Tail didn't focus on much of the details, and kept marching forward.
It took a while, but Tail was finally there. Ponies stood around, waiting for others to get on-board. Tail gulped.
"WHAT IS THY REASON FOR GETTING ON THE TRAIN!?" Shouted a high-pitched voice. Tail didn't jump, but she was surprised. And intimidated. Blue eyes looked into Tail's soul. She gulped. Again.
"Our name is Moving Tail. We were assigned by Princess Celestia to train to be a soldier. We don't know why thy Highness has assigned me, but whatever the reason, I need to get on the train there." Tail hoped it was a valid answer. It was. The pink mare smiled.
"Thou may pass." For some reason, the mare jumped on-board as well. She turned her head and frowned. "Well, what are thou waiting for?"
"Oh! Right. Sorry." Tail jumped on. "By the way, what's thy name? We told thou our's, but thou never told us the name that thy parents gave you." The mare turned her head, a faint smile creeping on to her face.
"Thy name? Thy name is Pinkamena Diane Pie." She chuckled. "But thou can call us Pinkie. We are pleasured to meet thou, Moving Tail." Tail smiled back.
"Call us Tail."
"Fine with us." She motioned for somepony in the dark to get closer. The pony that did get closer was similar to Pinkie. Except in colors. She had gray and purple, as well as blue, in her color palette.
"Hello." She deadpanned. "My name is Maud. Thou have met thy sister Pinkie. It is nice to meet thou. What is thy name?"
"Moving Tail. Nice to meet thou. Have either of thou earlier jobs? I used to be a zoologist." They both nodded.
"Maud and we used to be rock farmers. On our own rock farm of course." Pinkie nodded to prove her own point. Tail was happy Maud didn't say it. Pinkie put a lot more expression in her voice.
The train's whistle blew. They were at their destination. It was time to fight for Equestria.
Moving Tail was injured greatly. Her right eye was blinded because of a deep gash, causing it to bleed. A crystal pony had exposed some of Tail's skeleton on on of her legs. They were now motioning for the tail. They cut it clear off. She was allowed to let her tail grow, and the enemy cut. It. OFF!
If Tail had anything to live for, it was her tail. When she showed emotions, her tail expressed it as well. Rage filled Tail. She didn't notice she was somehow intimidating the crystal pony. Tail leaped on to the pony, screaming gibberish. She punched the helmet multiple times. When she got tired, she tried to think of more things that made her angry. She found memories inside her.
These ponies took her family and friends away. No, not them, Sombra. But they were still his minions. They deserved to die as well. All of them deserved to die. Filled with the rage of the enemies taking her whole life, She punched even more. The helmet broke. It revealed not a crystal pony, but her daughter. Sombra had brainwashed her daughter.
"M-mom?" Lucid Safari whimpered. "Why is thy mane cut? Why do thou have so many scars, filled with blood? Why are thou here?" Tail dropped her leg. And then, she did what any mother would. She cried. Her loud and heavy sobs were heard by many. They stopped, and looked over. Then they realized what happened. They all broke the helmets of the enemies. Each one revealed a loved one of one of the soldiers. If they didn't, they revealed confused crystal ponies. Some were just plain soldiers that had fought once. Sombra had ran out a long time ago. So he used old magic to revive the soldiers. And nopony could be happier that they that found out.
This time, there was more than one train. Now they outnumbered Sombra. Equestria was finally happy.
In every universe except two, Princess Celestia smiled. Because in one of them, an other Celestia had fixed their world. Maybe if two Celestia's could fix their world, they could as well.
