Pink, Yellow and Shy

Final day

Previous Chapter

The fourth morning, in which was supposed to be another sunny one, was dark and rainy. The pegasi had to make an early storm so the crops wouldn’t dry out. Fluttershy feared the worst part was yet to come as she was awaken by the first thunderclap she heard. Cassie was still sound asleep, and didn’t mind the drums of the sky making their music. In fact, they only soothed her further into her slumber. The yellow pony wasn’t sure to wake the dragoness, or to face the music alone. The booming clouds got louder as the Pegasus shook more with each bang. Little did she know a cyan pony was just above her abode with a gray cloud that was specifically crafted for making thunder. The pony gave it a good kick and sent another thunderclap to the residents below. She was growing frustrated, seeing that she wasn’t getting any closer to achieving her goal: getting the dragon out of her friend’s house and away from the yellow pony. Flutters finally had enough, and she shook her friend furiously. The pink dragon stared at the shivering Pegasus, wondering why her friend was frightened.

“What are you scared of?”

“The thunder. It’s so loud,”

“Is that all?” the dragon asked with a crooked face. “That’s something natural. I can’t make it go away,”

“That……..can be arranged, actually,”

“What do you mean?”

“We pegasi make and move the clouds all over Equestria. There’s a big factory in a moving city called Cloudsdale. My friend, Rainbow Dash, is the head of the factory. One time when winter was on it’s way, she was so excited to spend it with Tank, but we had to break the news to her eventually. She tried to stop it here, but when that didn’t work, she went to our old home and managed to make the whole place go haywire, and with one giant snowball, she covered all of Ponyville in a very deep blanket of snow. We all knew she didn’t want to spend winter without her pet, but she had no choice. I was the one who told her the facts that would eat at her heart, and she was so upset about them she cried for hours. It had to happen. If it didn’t, Rainbow would probably be going at it all winter, and Tank was sure to die, then she’d be really upset; not only for ignoring our advice, but also for losing her pet for the rest of her life. Tank even had a propeller made just for him that can spin on it’s own. All Dash had to do was give it a whirl, and the magic inside the propeller did the rest. We all thought Rainbow was a tough shell, but that day would always haunt her and make her think about what could’ve happened,”

“That’s very sad to hear. I’m sure she had good intentions for her pet, but it’s impossible to fight the laws of nature; even if someone is trying to have a great time,” Cassie sighed.

“Speaking of which, there is one place that we pegasi can’t do a thing about with nature, and that’s the Everfree Forest,”

“We went there yesterday. What do you want to tell me?”

“The forest is the only place in all of Equestria that does everything on it’s own; even the clouds. One time, we had to sacrifice our elements to stop the Tree of Harmony from running amok.”

“That sounds serious,”

“It was, but it’s nothing compared to the battle we had with Tirek. It took all of us to stop him and the magic of friendship, which….”

“Is something the matter?” asked Cassie.

“No, it’s just that……”

“Yes?”

“Twilight made this a test for me, well, like a test,”

“And?”

“And I’ve come a long way with it,”

“So what is this test?”

“It was becoming friends with you and overcoming my fear of dragons. You’re one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of coming across, and I thank you for that,”

“Well, okay…..” said a confused Cassie.

“It’s not just that. You come from a whole different world. Aren’t you lucky?”

“Yes,”

“And we got to know so much from each other,”

“Yeah,”

“You know, I was wondering if I can visit your world sometime,”

“That would be great!”

A knock came at the door. Cassie opened it to reveal a steaming Rainbow Dash.

“Oh, hi….”

“I see I haven’t driven you out yet,” Dash said angrily.

“That was what you’re trying to do? Dash, I’m surprised,” came the yellow pony. “I told you Cassie means no harm to us. You should know that already,”

“Alright,” Dash sighed.

“Come on we better see how Twilight’s doing”

“Okay,” Cassie said.

The pair made their way through the storm to the castle to see the carnage had not settled down. Twilight teleported to them when she heard the lab door open.
“Thank Celestia you’re here! I’ve been up all night constantly trying out different methods and calculations to find Cassie’s home, and now I found it! I only need one more thing to make sure her travel back home doesn’t end up in vain,”

“And what would that be?” Flutters asked curiously.

“I need her Dragon Badge. It’s the only way,”

“Okay,” Cassie replied, unsure. She took off said badge for the lavender alicorn to use it in the contraption before them. The portal began to illuminate the room, blinding the trio. After a few seconds passed, it was ready.

“Alright, now you can head back home. Fluttershy, is there anything else you have to say,” came Twilight, handing the badge back to its rightful owner.

“Not quite,”

“Are you sure?”

The yellow pony squeaked a very quiet ‘yes’ that nopony, or dragon, could hear.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” the lavender pony said, turning to the departing dragoness. “Are you ready?”

Without hesitation, Cassie made her way back into her world as the portal shuts down. Fluttershy stares at the portal, thinking about all the things they could’ve done, how much fun they could’ve had.

“Bye, my friend,”
