Ahh, the door to Derpy's cottage opened slightly, Doctor Hooves had come home from a long day of time travel, Derpy was probably in bed, so he could enjoy a cup of coffee in peace and quiet. As the doctor walked into the house, a warm feeling swept over him, or rather, a sensation. The furniture in Derpy's cottage looked old and used, but it was quiet comfy and relaxing. Doctor Hooves smelled something, maybe a cake?
Doctor Hooves walked into the living room, it was warmer than the entry hall, a TV hung from the wall, and a couple shelves of books were sitting around the space, there was a nice couch in the middle to top it all off. Doctor Hooves decided to go to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee and watch the news.
Doctor Hooves entered the kitchen, there was a cake in the oven, and Derpy was watching it, very closely. She couldn't wait until it was finished cooking.
"Derpy! I thought you'd be in bed by now!"
"Oh, sorry Doctor, did I stay up past my bedtime?" Derpy hung her head.
"Derpy, mares don't have 'bedtimes', they go to bed when they feel like it." the doctor felt bad for Derpy, she was so unlike everypony else.
"How about you finish up the cake? I don't want to ruin it, I'll get you a cup of coffee." What could go wrong with a cup of coffee? Sounds easy enough, right? Not for Derpy.
She had to get a mug first, which seemed hard enough, she actually had to reach up to the mug drawer, and open it, and then take only two out, Derpy slowly opened the droor, she acted quickly, which was a mistake, she sent a couple of the precious cups tumbling, but she successfully got two.
Doctor Hooves hurried to get the mop as Derpy sighed, she couldn't do anything but blow bubbles right, she probably couldn't even mop the floor.
Doctor Hooves rushed back into the kitchen, and sweeped all the pieces of broken china into a thingy that looked to Derpy like a thing that you hold things in, she figured this was to hold the pieces of broken china until the doctor could drop them in the garbage.
Derpy continued making coffee, even though she knew she would make more of a mess, she wanted to try. Derpy poured the hot liquid into each mug, she did drip a bit, but she was very proud of herself.
Doctor Hooves walked back into the kitchen, "All taken care of," he looked at the two steaming cups of delicious coffee, "Derpy, did you do this? If so, I am very, very proud of you!"
"I did doctor, I did!"
Derpy hands the doctor a steaming cup and he takes it into the living room, she walks in with him. They put their mugs on coasters, and the doctor sat on the couch, it was relaxing.
"I'll go into the kitchen and finish on the cake, maybe you wanna watch My Little Human? I'll be right back!" Derpy headed over to the kitchen, it was warm, the cake was probably almost ready, she check the timer, there were sixteen minutes left, she couldn't wait.
Sixteen minutes passed in what seemed like forever, but Derpy took the steaming cake out of the oven, it smelled like Sugar Cube Corner, it smelled super sweet!
Derpy laid the cake onto a platter she had already set out, "Doctor, I think you should take it from here."
The doctor walked into the kitchen, it smelled wonderful. He thought Derpy meant slice the cake, so he grabbed a knife and started to cut two pieces.
"No, doctor, no! I meant decorate, and then slice it! But it's okay, the cake will still be tasty!"
The doctor put the wonderful smelling pieces of cake onto two separate plates, Derpy dug in!
"Derpy, careful! It's hot!"
"HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT!" Derpy squealed, she grabbed a glass of water, it cooled her down, "That was one warm cake!"
The doctor and Derpy carried their cakes into the living room, they set them down on the coffee table, Derpy had remade coffee and put it on the coffee table, too.
Doctor Hooves turned on the news, it was boring, so Derpy asked, "How about we watch My Little Human? It's more interesting than this."
"Okay, sure Derpy!" Doctor Hooves surfed the TV channels until he found the one My Little Human was on, the channel was called Discovery Family, though the old channel was Hasbro Studios.
They decided to watch 'Rough Winds', it was one of Derpy's favorites. There was a character in the show called Sunny Breeze, this episode revolved around her. She was a human, like all the other characters, and she had brown hair, she wore a pink headband and normally wore surfer clothes, she had a calm, loving personality, and in this episode she had became a International Lifeguard, a very famous title in the land called Earth. Becoming an International Lifeguard was one of Sunny's wildest dreams, and it had come true! Well, after she got the job, she found out that it wasn't really her fit... She quit at the end of the show and hung out with her friends.
Derpy liked this show because it reminded her of when she tried to be Rainbow Dash's number one assistant, but failed, she got number sixth assistant and figured out she didn't like the job, she quit after a few weeks. This episode reminded her to pick the path you chose. She found much joy in watching it yet again.
Derpy had finished her cake, she snuggled with Doctor Hooves for a while, she fell asleep after a couple minutes.
Doctor Hooves laid Derpy in bed, he whispered, "Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite!" and put Derpy's stuffed Twilight in her hooves, Doctor Hooves turned off the light, and closed the door, to go to sleep himself.
