--Act One: Prosperity

"When we prosper we gain wisdom, and we gain wisdom, we fight."

I put a hoof to my visor and took a small glimpse up at the clock tower. Half of the clock was missing, and dwindling bars took the broken portion's place. Xoe Rem, my squad leader, clutched his gun tightly in his hooves as he  bucked down the door about a block away from the tower. Noises of scrambling could be heard as I stepped in, Xoe right behind me. I yelled out, "This is the recovery team! We will prepare every civilian for evacuation!" As the quietness filled the room, graffiti criticizing the Humans could be seen. "This is definitely a pony residence..." I said to Xoe, as he motioned his troops inwards. With REF Railguns at the ready, we breached a door, bucking it nearly off four hinges.

I turned the corner only to see a disembodied filly stretched out onto the ground. The jagged bone sticking straight out from her headless corpse. I gagged at the stench and continued on, finding the possible parents of the filly. Two corpses, one mare, one stallion, both lay upwards, their facial expressions still in awe. What the hell could of happened here? I wiped dust off my visor, and motioned to Xoe, who was analyzing the filly's corpse.

I grumbled quite loudly, "Dear Celestia, the filly is fucking dead!" Xoe nodded awkwardly and continued on to the window. Staring outside, figures, that were definitely not ponies came running down the street, one with a rocket launcher in his/her hands. I prepared my REF, waiting until Xoe gave us permission to fire. No order came. A drop of sweat came drooping down from my ear. I turned around, only to see Xoe, and the other troops around him dead. I tried to scream, but only muffled breaths could be heard.

I observed the area. What the hell? The group of Humans approached closer. I shook my head, ears perked up, trying to listen onto surrounding noises.Nothing except the whirling of broken air conditioning fans. I took a deep breath, and galloped straight out of the building, diving for a broken down automobile belonging to the Humans. I tried to concentrate, but my perception was hazy. The figures, now spotting me, put a spread of projectiles my way as I dashed for another building, this one, quite cleaner. I exhaled and started opening fire out from the window seal. The recoil kicking up every time I fired. The hot red bars went straight through a Human, his internal organs being shown. The heat created extreme pain, and within minutes, he/she was a lying corpse. The three figures remaining jumped to cover, as the one with the rocket launcher opened fire. I ducked down yelling, as the rocket smashed straight into a building at the end of the street.

My visor, now a bit cracked, alerted me of the hostile's whereabouts. I fired a rod at an unsuspecting Human, reducing him to a torch. "Incinerating ammo is the way to go I guess...!" I yelled, laughing sarcastically.

After the ferocious battle, I gasped for air. It was tough, but I got it down. The air became thick until I passed out of oxygen loss.

Minutes felt like seconds, hours felt like minutes. It all happened very briskly.

"W-Wake up little pony!" A muffled voice said from outside my vision. The light shined in my eyes. Still being unable to wake up, I rolled over. After a few continuous tries, a loud sigh from the mare before, she had enough. "I'm really sorry for this!" The oxygen mask over my muzzle created breaths of high volume. I quick hoof went up my parts, and I screamed. The rapid beep from the heart monitor increased fast. The mare, kept me down, until I fully became awake and aware.

"W-What the fucking shit was that for?" I yelled, hyperventilating heavily. "Like I said, sorry. Just gave you a little push up the pussy!" Said the mare, now visible to have a dark blue mane and dark blue tail, with a light gray coat. She's kind of cute... I shook my head. "Well, it helped!" I yelled. The mare giggled, "It sure did! And no... I didn't enjoy it, though it might be awkward..." I nodded, ears already burning.

"You better of not!" I yelled once again, putting a hoof in the air.

The mare sighed and got back to business, "Now, don't be alarmed, but you kind of have a.... Forward hoof missing, eh-heh."

I widened my eyes looking at my hooves. "What the fucking fucks of fucks?!" I yelled even louder than before. "Now, I can make you a new cybernetic limb, for free... If you want..." The mare said slowly, "You know, because your kind of cute." I blushed, "Uh-Huh? Okay, fine! Just don't shove your hoof up my places again!" The mare shook her head in agreement, and injected a knock-out drug so I won't feel pain.'

The blackness suffocated around me. I tried to speak, nothing came out. The surrounding settings seemed eerie. It reminded me of my old life. My old life back in my chamber of isolation, where I was supposed to be safe. Fucking parents, always so damn overprotective. The darkness just kind of sunk into my mind with ease. I didn't try to fight it at all. There was nothing I could do. If I tried, I would just be hurting myself. It all came tumbling down on me hard at first, but in the end, I was used to no friends, no companions... It was normal. Perfectly normal.

But when I was let out into the open world, it kind of made me afraid, paranoid. I was sort-of deluded. I was always aggressive in a physical manner until my parents died. That hit me hard, and my mental state was going back and forth. Sanity and insanity seemed so close together, like one tiny thin piece of fabric was separating them from one another. And I knew that if that fabric was cut, insanity would conquer sanity, and my mind would be broken.

This lasted until my step-mother came along. A tidy virgin who was too afraid of getting married, made an exceptionally good mother to me. She cared about me, loved me, cuddled with me, and for the first time, the fabric was cut, and sanity won the cold war. My step-mother was talking about economy, surrounding provinces and such, but when the Human-Pony war came along, she was too ill. My step-mother died at the age of 51. That moment I decided to become a soldier. I had two years of training, with my hopes set high for the main battle force, but... I wasn't good enough.

I was plopped right in the middle of the Recover Brigade, and was soon placed right there with Xoe and the rest. All I wanted was for my step-mother to be alive, I wanted to make her proud, instead of being a helpless little filly. I wanted to stay strong, stay proud. And hell, here I am, tears filling my eyes. I must look like a fucking cry-filly from that mare's point of view. I just... Need to gather my emotions and put them in the recycle bin for now. After all, I am going to have some new limbs soon, so I definitely don't want my emotions slowing me down.

And there they went, gone temporarily, until my courage is all bundled up. I had other matters to attend to after all.
